I was watching too much of History Channel's Vikings, and I'm mostly Scandenavian, so I decided to rip off Bjorn and try to make him my own character as I went.
Apologies for the delay, btw. I check this forum on my phone and didn't notice the little "2" indicator in .5 font at the bottom of the thread, lol.

Oh shoot. Combat? I should have said this earlier, but I'm in Amsterdam until Monday. Feel free to take over my character until Monday, GM. Sorry about this. I'll try to check in if I can get decent Wi-Fi again.

I'll post as soon as I get a chance. Btw, noob forum question: Is the roll command actually a macro that rolls for you, or do you have to type the whole thing out after rolling independently?
Use square not round brackets but like this
(dice=TEXT) 1d20+5 (/dice)
example
TEXT: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
On a side note, where was that roll when I was rolling to hit?

No problem. I'll think of something for you to do...and I promise I won't kill you while you're on autopilot.

Just wanted to let you all know - I've been playing a lot of 5e lately, where modifiers and sneak attack work somewhat differently. I do my best to remember the correct rules for the table I'm at, but sometimes I forget. I'm working on rereading the CRB, but haven't gotten very far yet. I do know the rules, I just get mixed up sometimes. So if I start telling you you have advantage, or that you should roll sneak attack damage when you don't think you should, remind me which edition we're playing.
Alassa Vaenar |
Yea we could coup-de-gras at least 2 of them each before they can even act. Even if we don't kill them in 2 rounds they're blinded, stunned and prone so they'll be so easy to hit that they its an easy kill.

The Ten Chaotic Good Commandments are:
1. You shall lie in the pursuit of goodness.
2. You shall not harm the innocent.
3. You shall not murder.
4. You shall help the needy.
5. You shall honor those who promote freedom and goodness.
6. You shall break the law in pursuit of goodness.
7. You shall not betray others.
8. You shall avenge the acts of evil-doers and enemies of freedom.
9. You shall not place duty above personal desire to do good.
10. You shall seek unlimited good for others and freedom in society.
By killing these thugs Alassa Vaenar is obeying a good deal of these commandments. The only one she might be breaking is the Murder for killing the helpless thugs. However its justifiable to her considering:
A. They would continue to attack them if allowed to wake up, better to deal with them quickly while on the ground rather than have them attack the party.
B. They are members of the Cheliax Citizens group who she knows are guilty of a number of horrific atrocities during the purges and would continue to do so.
C. If left alive they will inform the Dotari about their identities and tighten a noose around all their necks.
D. Their crimes would never be punished by the current regime. And its not like they have any Jail Cells available to shove them in or have the luxury of time for proper trials. Swift justice is the only path of retribution in her eyes.
Most of all, the definition of Chaotic Good is "Rebel". And that's exactly what she's doing.
Viviana the Reborn |
No, I totally understand why your character is doing what they're doing. It all makes sense. I think your character is super interesting. Viviana just doesn't like it, haha XD
Matsudaira |
Alassa, I am new to this so any help you could give would be much appreciated. Do you have a source for that list or anything else around it? Matsudaira is also Chaotic Good. I have been trying to play him as a mix of Mr Miyagi and Sir Samuel Vimes from Nightwatch (a book by Terry Pratchett). I think I have stayed within those commandments, but if there is a bigger article or something that could give me more information on playing this alignment it would be great.

Hey all. I do still exist, and I do still have Internet access. I'm currently away from my books, but I should be able to post in Gameplay later tonight or tomorrow.
Meanwhile, concerning alignment: I believe Pathfinder monks are supposed to be lawful (citation needed), but I've heard such awful things about the alignment system that I tend not to care that much. So: as long as your character is consistent in adhering to his or her alignment, I won't have a problem. As with Alassa, I may ask you to explain to me how your character's actions fit their listed alignment, but as long as you can present me with a thoughtful explanation I won't make you change anything. As for being a chaotic monk, well, as long as you lawfully adhere to a consistent code, even if that code is chaotic, then I won't have a problem with a chaotic monk. Even WotC realized that the alignment system and restrictions was arbitrary and bothersome - 5e has no alignment restrictions, but does have alignment tendencies for each class.

Martial artist archetype can be any alignment, but I don't get ki. The archetype is from Ultimate Combat.
More than happy though to re-slot myself into another alignment if you feel that I should. This is my first RPG game so more than willing to take advice.
Viviana the Reborn |
Hey, I know this is a bit late, but I'm going to be out of the country for the next week and a half. I should be able to have wi-fi often enough to keep Viviana going, but in case we need to move things along and I'm not responding, just assume Viviana quietly observes and is defensive most of the time. And of course, GM, you're welcome to bot me if I need to fight something haha XD

Sweet. Society play is a bit stricter in terms of rules adherence and interpretation, but it's still a lot of fun. I've only played one live session of PFS, at a local con, and I loved it. Good luck with your search!
I will be posting soonish...I hope. I hate being sick. Especially when there's nothing to be done but wait. I should be able to post this weekend at the latest.

Hey GM, if it's cool with you, after we sort out the gold, I would like to pick up some Alchemist's Fire on the way to the stables.

We all have the scenario books, right? Maybe we can do something like rotating the players through GM-ing. It might be slow while we learn how to do it well, but I think it won't be this bad. My impression is that Alyksandrei would prefer to be a player anyway.
