RR,
There are only 30 Elorgs in existence and Solvistania is the youngest of them. They have very specific backstory - I don't know if you caught that. I would not allow another Elorg pure Channeler in the game, because of Solvistania - but I'd second Sorok's suggestion. You can create very devastating Magus-type character based on Intelligence, using Weapon Bond and various Channeler and Fighter talents.
Elorgs seem to be very powerful and they are, but we've managed to balance that with role-playing. All Elorgs suffer from various mental conditions. For instance, Solvi is very unsure of herself and claustrophobic.
I must admit that I am curious to see Mage-Knight type of Elorg, but I am OK with whatever you pick. I'd suggest that you develop several story concepts and when we pick one you proceed to flesh it out mechanically. In this game the story is of the greatest importance. :)
Illiameyl Arabep |
Noooo! Not some sort of demon/devil to deal with in her bad state. Illiameyl is having a serious bad day.
I think I better start working on a new character, doubt Illiameyl will survive this encounter.
Should I make another wildlander character?
PS: what are the playable races, and if some more advance races are allowed, what would the level adjustment would be?
Rigor Rictus |
Again, I can understand not wanting a new character too similar to an existing one. I did read all the information in your e-doc on the Elog, and I assumed that it would in fact make Solvistania and I half siblings. That always makes for some good role-play opportunities. I had hoped that an Evoker would be different enough, but I am fine with altering the concept.
Ironically, I think very little modification will be needed to turn Vikturian into a spellsword type, given the options that are available.
While any weapon can be chosen for the weapon bond, I'd probably envision an Int based swordsman most as a fencer. How would you feel about incorporating an Elven Slimblade from 3.5 as his weapon on choice?
Rigor Rictus |
Sorry, I got the name wrong. I was actually thinking of the Elven Thinblade. It is from Complete Warrior pg 154.
It does 1d8 damage with a 18-20 critical, the same stats as a katana, urumi, rhoka, etc, except it is finessable (which won't matter with this character).

Bah! You should never doubt your allies ability to help you get through this alive! You just make sure to move behind me and give yourself cover until Gilian can hopefully heal you.

It's essentially the same thing as Aldori sword from PF, except that you get it for free, since it's racial weapon for you - which will anyway be covered by Weapon Bond. :)
I have no problems with that.

Oki. Enjoy the weekend.
Is it a possibility to get a plan for the encounter, I not sure where everyone is, oh, the blood too.
I totally forgot about Shadow Jump feature. Any shady enough areas?
Sorok, thanx for coming our way. It seems we taking on heavy range assault, and now the melee threat.
Guess I have to drop the bow and pick up the sabres again, definitely AoO threats, before delivering an attack on them.

Guys, when you post, please include the Round Number, your remaining Hit Points and your remaining Spell Points, if you have them. That way I can keep everything under control much easier.
Also, if you get hit during combat, please write a post about it. That will gain my attention and attention of your fellow players, who could then heal you or take other actions.
Sorok Hamfael |
Really? Well then that changes my last turn. Damage dealt is only 13 points, and AC. is still at 30. Illiameyl's saves and AC. are still boosted by 1 and she still takes only 1/2 damage from enemy attacks.
I will update character tomorrow when I'm at school. My computer at home doesn't have the right type of file decoder for most of Nightflier's documents.

Think I've finished cleaning my sheet up Nightflier, but let me know if there is something you spotted I was missing. I saw that I still had Color Thief under traits, although I had removed all of the related benefits. I also got rid of the old calculations, sheet and material so there wouldn't be any confusion. I do have to keep building out backstory. Where I'd like to go with it is having him from Gloomnight, but someone that has crossed between that city and those in the Summerlands. If that would be too unusual, I'll stick with a pure Gloomnight write-up.
Vikturiun |
I've continued working on my Elorg spellsword and I have a few ideas for his background.
Mechanically he's come out as a Channeler 4, Fighter 1, with the potential to move into an Arcane Warrior, Eldritch Knight type prestige class, or continue with either of his two core classes. He is a fencer with decent AC, moderate hitpoints, good spellpoints, and the ability to cast Lesser+Greater Evocation and Tranfiguration, as it appears no one else had that category. He can fight, blast, buff, or self-buff as the situations require. He can't match the HP of the front liners, but he will have good damage output.
Storywise, I've written out a bit. I am making assumptions about the history of the world and my father, that if incompatible with any unknown details, Nightflier or others can let me know and I'll modify as needed. I read everything I could find on the Elorg, including Solvi's background, Nightflier's rules doc, and what he wrote about them back in the first few posts of the discussion forum, where I went looking for the initial instructions (though I know they've changed, they lend perspective).
I picture Vikturiun as one of the older children, an earlier attempt than Solvi, and in the mind of his father, less successful, and more useful as a learning experience than for fulfilling his ultimate goal. He survived his childhood, despite not being the type of ultimate caster his father was looking for. In fact, his father assumed that despite his potential for brilliance, the orcish desire for martial confrontation would be too strong in him to make him an effective magi. As a result, he was left outside the breeding pens to die of exposure or be eaten by fell. Only when he survived the night (perhaps as an early manifestation of his heroic path) was he given the chance to prove himself.
After the rescue, he had more difficulty than some in adapting to elven culture, and less than others. While most were kept close to the breast by the witch queen, Vikturiun made an impression among the erunsil, and impressed them enough with his ardor to win the right to go and fight in the Varadeen. He suspects that the queen has kept a close eye on him nontheless, but he does not know who her informants might be. She always seems eerily aware of what he has been up to each time they meet, and she never seems surprised when briefed on confrontations in which he has participated.
So far, only the Erunsil seem to have accepted him, their pragmatic attitude and respect of his tenacity overruling the suspicion that keeps the other elves at bay. As a result, he has always spent as much time in the field as he can manage.

As no one has commented on my character or build as of yet, I can only conclude that he is so perfect and well suited to both the party and the game that he requires no adjustments whatsoever.
The other possibility, that everyone has simply been too busy is obviously unlikely.
In all seriousness, let me know what you think. Nightflier, I can be ready to join in with this character as soon as any adjustments you require are made. If, of course, he is unsuited to the party, please let me know as well so I can start preparing another idea...
Solvistania Elghreah |
Hmmm...after reading about the origins of this Elorg, Solvistania is...intrigued. She knows little of her 'brothers' and would consider a meeting with one of them...interesting.
I did not see anything in your background about meeting Solvi, but that is OK. A meeting for the first time with her would be EPIC RP. I think he is perfect for the group.
Sorok Hamfael |
Right you are sir, though I have been busier than usual as of late. I must say I really do like your character and where you are heading with it. The back story with the Iron-born path is a great touch up for the martial aspect. With your characters level of intellect, you should know many more spells however. 2 per level of Channeler automatically with 8 additional for each level that you could have learned, a grand potential total of 40 spells. You should also ask Nightflier about the amount of Talismans you can have.
Crunk |
I think there might be a bug in the Gameplay thread. I thought I had posted (and rolled a 17) right after Sorok, but went back and no post. Tried to post again just now. Still rolling a 17, but it won't snap out of preview mode. I'm not having the same problem in other PbPs. Has anyone been running into the same thing?
Edit: Aha, there it goes.
Vikturiun |
I haven't had any trouble with the messageboards on any of the other games I play in, but there was an update yesterday morning, and a few glitches always seem to persist for a little while after each one.
Thanks for the note Sorok, I'll add in the extra spells, though I'm not sure there are that many in the schools he can cast.
Solvi, I didn't add in anything about meeting your character because I thought it would be wiser to discuss it with you first to make sure it was consistent with your existing story.
From what was written in the Elorg background, I had originally assumed that the Elorg were rescued as infants; however, your background made it seem that you knew our father, which would have required you to be older. As you are the youngest, all others would have to have been older at least than you. If we were all old enough to know him, I had assumed that all the children would know each other, at least to some degree. If this is not correct, let me know. I'd enjoy crafting some sort of relationship between the two siblings.
Solvistania Elghreah |
I do like the idea of at least a familiarity between Solvi and Vikturiun. NF has said she is 43 years old so I assume she was rescued when she was a n older child or when she reached teenager years. Considering the High Queen knows both of them I can see them having met and talked briefly to one another. However the Queen would have been protective of Solvi due to her Nexus sensing ability.
In any event, Solvistania would have been unfriendly (even ice cold, he he) to him, as she was with everyone at that point in her life.
Illiameyl Arabep |
Looking at Vikturiun, a channeller with such awesome AC for a spell caster, I clearly did not build Illiameyl good at all.
I definitely need help with fixing Illiameyl after the battle if she survives. Want to create a sneaking hit and run type character, with excellent mobile defence. The wildlander make Illiameyl different from Crunk, in she has survival skills instead of the usual rogues skills.
Vikturiun |
As a caster who is going to be in melee a lot, AC counts for a lot. As a result, it is a bit of a focus for him.
Solvi: A passing familiarity works well. Vikturiun would feel that all his siblings were likely to be used as tools in the war, and that as a result, it would be best not to get too close. They are in his view all likely to die before too long.
I've added in a selection of spells. Even though he only has Transmutation and Evocation, he ended up with a lot more utility spells than I thought he would; a pleasant surprise.
nightflier |
OK, the forum seems to be working for me once again. It seems that every time Paizo implements some changes to the boards, I can't log in for several days.
Now,
@Vikturiun
I'm having some trouble reading through your profile. Could you please make another entry just for talents, and make a note on which level you took certain talent? Take a look at Solvi's profile. She has that under Channeler (Rebuild). Also, would you like a Heroic Path specific to your character, like Duncan's or Solvi's, or are you satisfied with Ironborn?
@Vikturiun and Solvi
Elorg children were "rescued" by snow elves in LA 72, if I recall correctly. Solvi was the youngest among the 30 of them, but with the children there were also pregnant women, of various elven subraces. Perhaps even of asimar, tiefling or orcish blood. I want to keep that number vague, in the case that I want to do something with the Elorgs later on. But, most of those pregnancies ended 2 years later at the most. So, the "real" youngest Elorg would have 24 years at the current game time.
Vikturiun |
I've made a tab for Talents. He only has two channeler tallents; Sidestep, and Arcane Discovery, chosen at 1st and 3rd level respectively. He also has one talent from his fighter level, from which he took armour training.
A few things remain that he has not assigned; he has 2 skill points left, probably for some of the he varied local knowledge skills, his favoured class bonuses, and his Tradition's Gift.
As for a Heroic Path, I'm not sure. I had though about asking for an Intelligence based one that would increase Int and provide something like bardic knowledge, but then I noticed that he was going to have a lot of trouble surviving close combat with his modest HP total. First critical hit, and he'd be done. With Ironborn, he might survive one long enough to withdraw.
If I had a custom one, I might want something similar, HP and Con related perhaps, like Trollblooded, that gave regeneration or fast healing or some such. Being able to get nearly killed, then get back up and walk it off like wolverine would be cool. I don't know how those would balance, but the basic idea fits very well into his origin and early history.
All told, I am satisfied with Ironborn, but I am definately open to something more customized, if you have ideas.

A Two-handed, One hit wonder destroyer. Basically a guy who's good at breaking stuff we don't want our enemies to have .
Feats:Power Attack(Core Rulebook), Improved Sunder(Core Rulebook), Smash(Advanced Players Guide), Weapon Focus(Core Rulebook), Weapon Specialization(Core Rulebook), Magecraft- 1st level spell- Enlarge Person(Midnight 2nd edition Core Book) Later on think about picking up Greater Sunder and Vital Strike as feats.
Cultural Fighting Techniques(Steel and Shadow Source Book): Dwarven- Knowledge of Steel, Benefit: Weapons and shields have half their normal hardness against your sunder attempts.
Orcish- Power Sunder. Benefit: If you successfully sunder an opponent's weapon or shield, you may immediately initiate a trip attack without provoking an attack of opportunity. If you fail, you may not be tripped in return.
Two Weapon Fighter traits (Advanced Players guide)- Shattering Strike, Overhand Chop. Backswing as a later Two Weapon Fighter trait.
Honestly, I would suggest a Dworg as race thanks to the Good Strength and Constitution they have in addition to the fact that some of the Feats I have suggested require you to be of a specific race.
