I busy working on my character.
Traits:
Are any of the "child of the" terrain type traits suitable to the Shadowlands, besides the "child of the streets"?
What typical races in Shadowlands would be suitable for Ancestral Foe?
Can all the traits be taken from your Midnight document.
I going for a range attacker, backed by stealth with survival and tracking skills in exterminating of ancient foe.
Wish I could find the background idea I had a while ago.....

DarkOne the Drow |

Wildlander talents:
Looking at Improved Precise Shot feat and Talent Shot talent, they seem to grant the exact benefit. Is this assumption correct?
Also read the ranger Combat Style description that one can ignore the prerequisites of selected feats from the chosen Combat Style list. Is this correct? Also remember to add Appendix 1 to Wildlander for combat style feats lists.
Also does favoured enemy talent benefits stack with favoured terrain ability benefits when favoured enemy is in favoured terrain?

DarkOne the Drow |

Another question.
Shadar has racial favoured class feature for the wildlander class of +1/4 combat style. How does this affect the archery combat feats.
Also in general, once a feat is completed, can one choose another feat (that is listed for the feature) or forced to select gaining a skill point or HP?
I will build the background as information becomes available as the adventure unfolds.

The most common races in Shadowlands are:
Shadar (Elves)
Humans (of Varyag ethnicity; descendants of Dorns)
Fell (including Morgral, which is Shadowland type of Dhampir)
Goblinoids
Tengu
Tieflings
Ratlings (various types)
Kitsune
Wayang
Catfolk (various types)
Minotaurs
Gargoyles (various types)
There are some other races, but I will expand on them in the Guide to Gloomnight.
All "Child of..." traits are suitable, except Child of the Desert, since there are no deserts on Aryth.
I would suggest that you do not go for ranged attacker, since that kind of fighting is rare in the Shadowlands, because of the nature of the setting (constant gloom and darkness, sometimes impervious even to magickal light)
Talent Shot allows you grants you the same benefit as the Improved Precise Shot feat, but there are no prereqs for this talent. On the other hand, there are a lot of prereqs for the Improved Precise Shot feat.
You can ignore the prereqs for the combat style feats. I will add Appendix to the Wildlander entry, as well as two archetypes for it. Probably tomorrow.
Favored Enemy stacks with Favored Terrain.
Favored Class allows you to take 1 HP or 1 Skill Point when you take the level in said class. These alternative Favored Class bonuses give you alternatives, such as to take +1/4 combat style feat. That means that if you take that Favored Class bonus 4 times, you will gain a feat, which you can choose among those granted by your combat style, instead of 4 HP, 4 SP, or any combination of those.
The order of obtaining combat style feats is determined by your level. Take a look at Pathfinder Ranger rules.

She does have 180' darkvision to use long range weapons. How often would magical darkness impede normal darkvision ability? If low occurrence, then ranged attacks are still very possible. Which would make the shadar very deadly foe in shadowy environments as they have advantage of normal 120' darkvision. Shadow Walker gives another 60'.
Also are there legate and outsiders in Shadowlands, as these are a prerequisite for the talents that lead to Hunt of Shadowspawn and Slippery Mind talents? Is it worth while to follow this talent path, also to follow the feats for ancestral legacy and foe for someone coming from the Shadowlands?
I noted there is a little ordering of Combat Style feats of when they become available, though it still allows for getting a higher feat quicker when it becomes available, without having the lower feats. then later take the lower feats after obtaining the higher feats.
So basically it is theoretically possible to take 5 combat style feats (character gets to wildlander 20) as favoured class bonus.

DarkOne the Drow |

Would you prefer Climb and Jump to be rolled into one skill (Athletics), or remain separate skills?
I am fine with either two or single skills. Though depending on the context of the setting, two skills makes plenty sense, yet one will do well in others. In modern educated society or living in the rural areas, knowing how to swim is just like being able to jump. Yet living in urban centres with low education and little opportunity to get training on how to swim makes this skill not the same as jumping. By knowing how to swim I referring to the basics of floating without tying, and moving in intended direction at will. Having a higher swim score could be related in surviving in more difficult waters, like jumping to reach a further target and landing on less than ideal surface. Same goes for climbing and jumping, it all depends on the context the skills are used in.
In modern military, all would know how to swim, jump and climb obstacles. Yet in medieval and ancient times, knowing how to climb, swim and jump was not part of the military training.

Welcome back, Nightflier.
Maybe your issue with the goblins is a cache problem. I had the same issue at those times. I solved it by deleting my cache and cookies.
By the way, did you get my e-mail with the files attached. I was worried it was to big to go through?

Hey, I got it - thanks. :) I am going to once again introduce a bunch of Midnight-specific Knowledge skills, as well as Knowledge (Warfare), which will deal with military tactics, essentially. I'll remove the secondary skills and return almost everything to Pathfinder standard.
Now, does anyone have any suggestion about possible combining some skills into one?

In the Shadowlands magical darkness is very common, at least among Shadar. The usual tactics is to remove the ranged combatants from the equation and move to melee.
There is no great legate presence in the Shadowlands, or Shadowspawn in general. There are individuals who got trapped or fallen through cracks, but there are not nearly enough of them to be favorite enemy of anyone.
Yes, it is possible to take five combat style feats over 20 levels.

Changes to rules:
Imp. Weapon Finesse added.
Skills entry added after Feats. Please review Skills. There are no more Secondary skills. All skills are standard Pathfinder, except Bluff and Intimidate, which are rolled into Persuasion, and Profession (Herbalism. Also, new Midnight-specific skills added, as well as Knowledge(Warfare).

DarkOne the Drow |

I see your explanation about not having ranged attacker. I will changed from a Dex based character to a Str based character. Rearrange the abilities to be more melee type character. Drop all the talents related to the Shadowspawn, big collection. Make the character more like ninja, sneak about and suddenly attack.
Before I start to rebuild the character, is it of worth to take the Ancestral Legacy and Ancestral Foe feats + traits?

I've downloaded you new document but I don't see any skill entries. are you sure you've put the correct link in?

Thanx for the advice of the Improved Weapon Finesse.
I made slight adjustments to ability scores, though keeping Dex at original value. I taken the two-weapon combat style, and Ancestral Legacy trait and feats, with sawtooth sabre (trait). Also worked in feat path for Improved Weapon Finesse, which help keep to the original theme of character being a stalker hunter. Additional weapons are composite shortbow/longbow for range, tri-blade katar for light weapon, perhaps 2nd sawtooth sabre or rapier also for two-weapon fighting (with -4 penalty).
Tomorrow afternoon should be able to put up character.

Ambidextrous stacks with TWF. That's the point. Midnight is kinda strange about wealth per level and stuff like that and money does not mean anything, although Shadowlands are more different still. That will be explained in the short Shadowlands gazetteer I'm currently writing.
But, you can have anything you like as long it's not magical and your armor is medium or lighter.
I'll add Arcane Defense.

DarkOne the Drow |

Shadow Walker Heroic Path: Missing description for Hide in Plain Sight. I presume it is something like Camouflage for Wildlander.
I decided on Ambidextrous, so she can have two matching sawtooth sabres for melee combat, one being her ancestral legacy item.
I will await for the Shadowlands gazetteer before continuing with background.
Character is here: http://paizo.com/people/IlliameylArabep
Think I adjust the skill points slightly. One or two abilities and feats still need to be selected.
Rest will come later.

Please post under you new character, so that I can review it. I'll be adding the campaign info later tonight or tomorrow during the day.
Guys, please post your revised characters. We will return to the game as soon as you post.
Also, I'll be adding more characters to this game. We will see how many, but they will probably form another party, that will work with your own for a time, before moving on their own.

Hi Nightflier. I've looked at the links on your profile yesterday evening and did not see the skills data. Can you check you've put the correct link. I'll post my character tonight anyways.

Illiameyl Arabep |

Add known languages. List of possible Shadar languages is listed under the racial abilities. If there should be any changes, just let me know. Added missing feat descriptions. Moved all favoured choices higher up.
Outstanding items are favoured terrain choice, background and personality.
@Gilian: Skills data appears after Feats in document.

Gilian, you should have 3 Traits from my Rules document and 2 Erenlander traits. Small is now not considered a Trait, since in Pathfinder you can take it for free as human.
Also, Herbalism is now a skill.

Working on the skills right now. I'm not clear on the profession herbalism. Does it replaces completely Survival or only for herb gathering/potion making?
In midnight, there is also the herbalist feat that allows to make herbal concoctions. Is it still necessary or is the skill Profession Herbalist enough?

OK edited her skills and updated her profile.

Profession (Herbalist) replaces Survival only for the purposes of collecting plants. For the purposes of creating herbal concoctions, poisons and stuff like that, it replaces appropriate feats or Craft skills. You can still use Survival to gather plants if your Survival skill is higher than Herbalist, of course.

Thanks, I've updated the skills now. One last question with the traits. When you said I needed 3 traits, is it 2 traits + the free small free small trait or 3 plus the free small trait?
