"I can't imagine mages of that ability are exactly common, but if you're gonna find one anywhere Absalom is probably it. Alternatively, there's Nex and Geb, but I don't really know those to be particularly inviting vacation spots. "
Duhwoo X. McKeener |
"Ah reckon we be a-headin' ta Absolom ta look fer clues in them hills northa th' big city -- ya kin get yer spell when we gits thar...an' Ah kin check on my pigs"
Lithuan |
"Lady Morilla, we will report back to you when we have information of worth? Is that acceptable?"
Avoreal Starseeker |
I just thought about it every spell i have that hasnt been gotten from borrowing a pc's spellbook/taking an enemy npc's spellbook, or from leveling was got through purchasing a scroll.. I dont think there's rules for buying spells from a friendly npcs spellbook.. If there is than why have i spent so much dam coin on scrolls lol..
"I beleive thats all.. We will try our best to locate your frind miss.. We'll be in touch.." After they're alone.. "There was a voice in my head in there telling me that our goals were common and for me to meet them at the Dancing Lancer tonight at midnight.. I assume they ment our entire party, becuase i will not fall into a trap alone.."
Vars Stanic |
"Sure, I'll go. Been to that watering hole. It's got a pretty damned good mead in stock generally. Certainly better than Duh's swill. No offense Duh. "
VC Vuvu Zuella |
Yes I agree lets utilize mundane methods first. I would prefer to have more info about the why and the where and the who, before we just magic ourselves there.
Duhwoo X. McKeener |
"Ah s'pose some o' that light-weight stuff might be a nice break from my own nukular-powered preparations..."
Duhwoo sneers a bit.
Duhwoo X. McKeener |
.
Whilst carousing at the Dancing Lancer, Duhwoo tries using Diplomacy to Gather Information about Dreng and the current situation:
Duhwoo's Diplomacy check: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
With that roll out of the way, and in proper worship to Cayden Cailean, Duhwoo gets plastered at the Dancing Lancer -- then tries to call some square dancing:
Duhwoo's Perform:SING check: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (7) + 20 = 27
nobody gets hurt, but it's not one of his better jam sessions...
Vars Stanic |
Vars will be sitting around the bar drinking mead at a moderate pace. He won't be sitting with Avoreal since he would just as soon get the drop on someone who might wish to do his comrade harm, and not let people know of his presence. His armor will be glamoured to look like typical merchant wear, and his shield will be strapped to his back and concealed.
"Nice song there bard!" and he'll toss Duh a gold for his show.
VC Vuvu Zuella |
pffft
Vuvu rises and begins to tell rousing tales of glory and adventure.
Oratory 1d20 + 32 ⇒ (11) + 32 = 43

"Avoreal, should it come to accessing a wizard's Grimoire, I believe Queen Telandia Edasseril has access to magic of the 8th circle. She would likely grant you access to her lore for a good cause. I take you to be one of the forlorn, but I'm sure you would find welcome in Kyonin."
According to the Inner Sea Magic Guide, Telandia is a 15th level Wizard
Avoreal Starseeker |
"Excellent! Well after we finish this business with the voice in my head me and you can take a trip and see if she'll help us out.. You know her personally? IF not it might be quite hard to gain access to a Queen.."
Once at the tavern Avoreal will get a table in a corner somewhere and drink tea till the mysterious telepath shows up..
Lithuan |
"Indeed, I have started leading patrols along the border of the Tanglebriar: Treerazer's demense. I have sat on her war council and could request a few minutes of her precious time, I think. Now then, pardon me a moment."
Lithuan will start to circulate among the bar patrons, using his keen eyes to survey the crowd for suspicious types, as well as talking to folk for the latest gossip.
Perception: 1d20 + 26 ⇒ (20) + 26 = 46
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (9) + 19 = 28
VC Vuvu Zuella |
Vuvu will flip through his pathfinder chronicle for a moment refreshing himself about local color 1d4 ⇒ 4 then he sees what he can glen as well
1d20 + 21 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 21 + 2 = 37 local
Then after gleaning all he can he turns on the charm
1d20 + 32 ⇒ (14) + 32 = 46 diplo
Duhwoo X. McKeener |
.
through the alcoholic haze, Duhwoo will keep an eye out for anyone glancing furtively at Avoreal, or at any of the rest of the party -- in case he can help make the contact we came to the Dancing Lancer to make:
Duhwoo's Perception check: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (2) + 20 = 22
his years of experience with the Pathfinders have honed his awareness almost enough to compensate for his inebriation...
Avoreal Starseeker |
Avoreal observes her squads singing and dancing and booze drinking with a smile.. "Such young races.. There so easily made happy.. Now where is this damdable contact.."
Vars Stanic |
Vars will find an alcove out of sight of the masked man and ready his equipment, donning his shield and pulling his falcata. He won't make any offensive moves, but will position himself to observe once is is garbed for hostilities in case they erupt.

“I apologize for my rudeness in contacting you so suddenly and briefly, and thank you for meeting me here. I cannot tell you my name, for I am a member of the Decemvirate, and my ability to guide the Pathfinder Society hinges on my anonymity. What is doubtlessly more important to you than my name is how I can help you.
“In recent months, I have been investigating the disappearance of a high-ranking Pathfinder agent named Osprey, and have discovered a series of similar disappearances throughout the Inner Sea region, all of which occurred under similar circumstances. In each case, the missing person was last seen with an attractive stranger, and appeared to be rapt with the new acquaintance’s beauty and charm. Reports in most cases place the missing individual in the company of the same stranger in the Nirmathi city of Skelt, from whence the party is said to have traveled south toward a recently active volcanic ridge called the Growling Skald. Your missing friend is among those whose disappearance matches this pattern.
“Our divinations have located several of those who vanished on the moon. Long have reports spoken of a demon-tainted jungle on the surface of the moon—what we on Golarion see as the Moonscar. It is there that I believe those abducted have been taken, though for what sinister succubus plot I know not. Few have the means to venture into such a realm, which is why I am here, now, with you. There is little I can offer you beyond pointing you in what I hope is the right direction. Yet if you can find a way to the Moonscar and retrieve not only my missing agent and your friend, but any other captives of the demons there, then my faith in you has not been misguided. Whatever plan the Moonscar’s Insatiable Queen and her servants have in the works, it has sped up drastically, and I fear for us all should they not be stopped.”
Avoreal Starseeker |
"The Decemvirate... I should have known.." Avoreal has trouble keeping her mouth from falling open as the stranger mentions the moon.. Quickly regaining her composure.. "Well that abit off from what i expected for this mission.. How do you suppose we reach this forest? I assume a search of this Growling Skald is in order, but do you have any other suggestions?"
Any Pertinant Knowledge rolls for additional info?
Vars Stanic |
Figuring out that hostilities are unlikely, Vars stands down, sheaths his falcata, slings his shield and joins Avoreal at the table. "Yeah, seems like we better go check that out. I don't much like the idea of a blind leap to the Moon before we know anything. "
VC Vuvu Zuella |
How is Osprey constantly getting into Trouble
The moon? Do you have any knowledge of the dangers that we might face in both Skelt and on Moonscar?
Avoreal Starseeker |
"I myself do not know the teir level of magics to accomplish that feat, yet.. So it seems our only choice is to travel to this Skelt.. That is unless yall would like to enlist a wizard more powerful than me to get us there.."
As far as i know the only spell that will do this is interplanetary teleport, which is a 9th level spell..
Know History on Demon Jungle: 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (17) + 25 = 42
Know Geography of Moon: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (15) + 16 = 31
Know Nature of Moon: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (11) + 20 = 31
Know Local of Skelt: 1d20 + 26 ⇒ (18) + 26 = 44
Vars Stanic |
"Ok, but do you have the magics to keep us alive up there? Of friendly anonymous contact here says it's not exactly a walk in a park on the moon. It is made of cheese right? "
Avoreal Starseeker |
"If I'm not mistaken me and Lithuan here and cast the required spells to survive in such places.. And although im not 100% certain I doubt that it's made of cheese.. Although that does leave room for chance, therefor you and especially Duhwoo should be excited about it.." She looks to the dude.. "I have the feeling your leaving out some information here.. You mentioned a Queen of some sort? What can you tell us of her? And you know for sure she's behind all these kidnappings?"
VC Vuvu Zuella |
Vuvu pulls out and flips through his pathfinder chronicles
He takes ten on all pertinent knowledge checks which will get him between a 29 and 31 and for the one that will tell us about the dangers of the moon he uses one of his take 20's for a 39-41 depending on what check is needed

Knowledge history on demon Jungle gets you: In their hubris, the arcane astronomers of Azlant accidentally released this blight when they failed at an attempt to terraform the entire moon with magic. For the last 12,000 years, this tangled and alien jungle of ravenous plants and horrific beasts has been ruled by a powerful succubus, Izmiara the Insatiable Queen.
Knowledge nature of the moon/geography of the moon get you: The Moonscar exists in two dramatically distinct phases. By day the place is unbearably hot, the equivalent of severe heat, but by night a thin but steady snow falls and the temperature plummets, becoming severe cold. The moon is tidally locked with Golarion, and thus its days and nights are extremely long in relation to those experienced on Golarion’s surface—it takes an entire month for the moon to fully cycle from one dawn to the next.
Knowledge Local Skelt get you: A place that is nigh impregnable to its enemies, the city of Skelt is of strategic importance to the whole of Nirmathas being situated at the fall line of the Tourondel River which runs through northern Nirmathas. The city is located atop a large bluff and is only accessible one of two ways; either by it water powered lifts or by several ramps each of which has multiple drawbridges that can be raised at a moments notice. The main forms of industry in Skelt are mining and lumber. The ore mined from the depth of the earth is brought up by huge lifts powered by dwarf crafted waterworks, these same waterworks also power the ore grinders that help refine the ore into usable metals. Lumber is also a big industry in Skelt with sawmills dotting the Tourondel River for miles down river.
Skelt is a city reliant on trade; for a long time it only traded with the nearby dwarf hold of Kraggodan but with the re-opening of the Bloodsworn Vale as a viable trade route Skelt now has access to all Varisia particularly the large cities of Korvosa and Magnimar.
Avoreal Starseeker |
"We have a mass form of Planetary Adaptation that should allow us to breath and deal with any extremes in heat or cold.. A casting from each of us, me and Lithuan, will see us through a day.. Or 1 extended version from myself, but i don't know if i want to give up an 8th tier spell for that.. Perhaps Lithuan can be a dear and memorize 2.. If not than i shall cover the other 1.. Im not quite sure if we need to visit this city of Skelt.. I suppose we could go there to gather info of the volcano, or we could just go to the volcano and find out first hand whats up.. Up to yall.."
Vars Stanic |
"I'd say if there is a spell for the purpose on being on the moon, I'll go for that instead of finding out endure elements doesn't cut it the hard way. "
Vars Stanic |
"I'm indifferent if we visit the city or not, but if Vuvu wants, to, why not? Won't cost much time and it's on the way I suppose. I imagine we're more likely to be able to teleport to a known city than an obscure volcano. "
Avoreal Starseeker |
"Greater Teleport never fails to reach the desired location, that said I'm game to visit a new city as well.. When everyone is ready I'll teleport us there.."
Having never been to this city she will use greater teleport with her arcane bond, placing them outside the city a ways so as to not alarm any guards.. She will also cast Moment of Prescience, Overland Flight, Greater False Life, Extended Heroism, and Extended Shield on herself before going..
Greater False Life: 2d10 + 15 ⇒ (9, 2) + 15 = 26

Vars will put his shield back on his arm, and switch his armor to looking like fairly trail dirty splint mail. No reason to put on airs. "Ready to go when you are. I've been itching to get out of Oppara for a while now. "
VC Vuvu Zuella |
You really should clean that up Vars. Want some help? Vuvu says frowning at the dirty armor as he lets his new enchantment take over on his gain shirt, as it glows a brightly

"I'd think an entertainer would appreciate the notion of playing a part. I'm trying to look like a cheap merc so I get ignored. If people don't expect me to be able to gut them, it is all the more likely that I will be able to if I have to. "
Vars Stanic |
I think that is Duh carrying over. My armor keeps itself clean, and I bathe regularly. While it would be tempting to see the reaction in court if I did show up smelling like a hog, it's not worth the added grief. "
