went ahead and built up to 17, since I am not playing this one, wound up taking Geas, Irressistable Dance, and Overwhelming Presence. Also picked up Ki Shout, Greater Dispel magic, dominate person and slow with favored class and class bonuses

bought a persistence metamagic rod, and the big old manual, as well as a ring of invisibility

I've been trying to get ahold of the guy so he can transfer control so I can shut it down. I've had no luck. I think he just had knee surgery. I'll keep pestering.
