Phew, looking at the Core rule books now i realise that my shadowrun memory is more of 3rd and 2nd edition...
DM i'll be sending you the sheet soon i digged a few things from Arsenal and the Runner's companion so you will have to tell me if they are ok...

Thanks for the suggestions on my character.
Added the Personalized Grip to all three weapons, grabbed some Stick-n-shock ammo, plus a clip for it.
I thought I had kept the Criminal SIN, so I just added it back and then have the Wanted by the Yaks based on the rough draft of my background.
I also picked up a rank in Clubs.
I'm looking at additional Lifestyles as suggested as well.
Let me know if anyone thinks / sees anything else. Will get the updated version and cleaned up background posted later this weekend. Right now I need to focus on prep for Pathfinder game I'm running at a Con in Feb.

Yey Attitude! And I think everyone wants Way of the Adept, but it was me and Faurst that asked : )
The Gun H(e)aven books are both quite nice as is Used Car Lot (and This Old Drone if anyone is feeling like a rigger). Parazoology as some nice critters, but that is more for you the GM then us : )
And dammit! Now I actually have to fix up my char :P

Mister Fixer |

I am afraid I am unable to answer those questions as I am currently just getting to it after Gun Heaven, Milspec Tech, and Used Car Lot...
And yes I am the type to prefer Mundane Street Samurai, Weapon Experts, etc so I tend to focus more on the Toys than the rest.
You guys are lucky I had another game today otherwise I would be reading Emergence, wonderful fiction in that one, or War!, Military Grade Gun/Tech Porn oh yes..., right now.
EDIT: Okay it seems you can take multiple ways just remember that they need to tie in to each other and not contradict. Flesh it out with Fluff to give me how you follow the way.
Also you can't stack the discounts from multiple ways on the same power.

Mister Fixer |

Okay just thought I would throw this up here as well:
Anyone interested in testing out how well RoleplayMarket.com works for a (Purely) 5th Edition Game?

Mister Fixer |

It just depends on what you normally plan on having your character do for their daily life.
Mine typically only have an Ownership & Concealed Carry for his Fichetti Security & Defensor (Streetline Special minus the MAD Modifier and 1 less round for a Laser Sight and Flashlight). He doesn't drive he leaves that to his roommate, the teams Rigger, and those are the only two weapons he carries around with him.
NOTE: We don't play in Seattle but in a Unique City that is set up in Missouri in the position of what used to be Monett, Mo and he has them to where you can legally carry a firearm in the open if you have a license for it but can't carry it in restricted areas but with a concealed you can. I am not sure about Seattle though...

I'd like to mention that I have only ever played a single game of shadowrun, in spite of my enthusiasm. I have a few of the basic books (companion, arsenal, street magic) and have read over them to the best of my ability. However, my understanding of the game may be seriously flawed in some places due to having never tried it in practice.

Hmm - a new thought came up when I was playing around with all the new qualities available. Currently I have 30BP positive qualities, of which 5 is a martial art. Since positive qualities cap at 35BP would I forever be unable to advance my M.A. to a higher grade then two?
M.A. costs 5BP/10Karma per grade - and in character creation they are bought in the positive qualities section.
Edit - The Safehouse book is also worth a look!

Having spend last night reading back and forth way of the Adept.
---------
Do the various "Way" qualities replace the "Adept" quality or do you need adept to get way of whatever?
Can a character buy more than one "Way" quality?
----
No you still need to buy the Adept quality . You can buy a way on top of it.
I will tell you tonight after having the book in front of me about buying more "ways" quality ...
----
Martial Arts specialisation from Arsenal pg 158.
After character creation you can buy martial arts style and its different bonus with regular experience (karma) points. The page gives you the different cost both in exp and $ for the different style instructors.
=> so at character creation you could start your Martial art and get the 4 different bonus with exp points etc...

Lessah |

Thank you for attempting to answer - but I know how much they cost and all that. Sorry if I were unclear : )
My question was if the cap of max 35BP (or 70 Karma) worth of positive qualities applies to Martial Arts learned after character creation or not.
(Now that I come to think of it - does it ever say that 70 Karma is the max amount of Positive Quallities you can have - or is that just if you use the Karma based character creation?)

mdt |

No, the limit is only during character creation. It's so people don't load up on negative qualities and have broken characters.
After creation, you buy everything you have karma to buy. The only limits are the natural inherent limits in attributes and skills, you can't raise them above a certain limit.
For martial arts, or positive benefits, the only limit is what karma you have, and what limits the GM sets (for example, he may say you can't buy some of the positive benefits because they can't be added later, like the one that gives you cheaper essence cost on cyberware if you already have cyberware that didn't benefit from it, although he might let you have the version for bioware if you haven't bought bioware yet).

Mdt is correct at Char Gen you can't go over the 35 BP limit of positive Qualities.
After char Gen you can buy positives quality with karma (it of course depends on the specific qualities)
Pg 157 of Arsenal has most of the rules for gaining the martial arts quality (cost in karma / time / $) and its different bonus.

@Lyst - some overlap, I think we have multiple sneaky stealthy guys. And there is a social adept as well. But so far you are the only one whom have hacking. Also the only one with decent skills in both sneaking and speaking.
I guess our team settles for stealthy jobs then?
Speaking of runs and such - how much downtime do we expect between runs? Last time I played we did ~1-2 runs each month and spent the other time hideing/planning/spending money/chilling.

mdt |

Dorjan has a 4 pool for armorer, not awesome, but workable.
And Dorjan is not your typical adept, none of his adept abilities have anything to do with being sneaky or damaging people. His are pretty much just sense buffs. I don't think that steps on anyone's toes.

I would recommend that you googled 'Chummer' - it is a free character generator for Shadowrun : ) I've found it way easier to gather all the gear you want and less math intensive.
You might want to consider SnS (Stick and Shock) rounds for your smaller gun (Light Fire) since they have a fixed damage profile instead of ExEx, but it is a matter of taste.
Might also want some kind of melee weapon for worst case scenarios. Smoke grenades or something similar for distractions is also nice (I prefer an smg with the hyper velocity mod and tracer rounds ... :D).
Spy Games have some fun toys (if allowed) and the Biocompitable from Augmentation is nice for wired adepts since it makes your essence last longer. Genetic heritage and Reakt from the same book is also nice.

Having issues with Chummer. I've used it in the past but didn't have it on this computer, so downloaded it a few days ago and can't seem to find a way to add in the info from the books outside core. Any help would be super appreciated.
Got the Thief build up on chummer (short of gear from Arsenal, and with a bit of creative quality use to act as fill ins for things not present), but I hadn't been paying much attention to the other characters. I would be happy to create a magician for this if people think we need one. If so, what would the group like to see in a magician? Emphasis on summoning/handling enemy spirits? Counter spelling? Astral scouting?
