Nacht hears a language he is particularly well versed in and his yellow eyes widen as the corrosive Deluge washes over the group though his wounds begin to heal almost immediately, the sound of sizzling carapace coming from the bugman.

The graveknight glowers with baleful green fires in its eye sockets at Nacht....

It lowers its sword and points at the Beetle Man with a gauntletted skeletal finger....

Nacht raises his blades in the air not yet cleaned from the Necromancer's fight before. As if proudly displaying the blood of the man. The mandibles clack as he still seems poised to defend himself but overall not worried.

" Ich schlachtete das Necromancer mit diesen sehr Klingen. Ich stach die Leiche oft nach, das Kill genießen. Ich weiß nicht scherzen. "

Those who Speak German:
" I slaughtered the Necromancer with these very blades. I stabbed the corpse many times after to savor the kill. I do not joke. "

The graveknight seems to be pleased by the news of the Necromancer's death.... The green fires blaze brighter behind the black visor, and an eerie, chilling, rasping staccato sound that might be laughter echoes sepulchrally from the winged helmet....

AH-AH-AH-AH-AH-AH-AH-AH-AHHHH!!!!

The graveknight stands still and quiet for a moment, as if savoring the news of his former master's demise....

Das heisst gute Nachricht.... Ich werde auf mein Schloss jetzt zuruck....

That is good tidings.... I will return to my castle now....

The graveknight strides past the Lusty Fools, provoking attacks of opportunity from anyone who dares to make them....

He seems intent on pushing past the adventurers and going down the spiral stairs to the lower level....

All that remains in the chamber is the ornate, draconian throne of dark wood in which the graveknight had been sitting. It has a red silk cushion on the seat. Instead of an open space beneath with four legs, the base of the chair appears to be a solid block of dark wood, elaborately carved to look like scaly dragon feet and talons.

This time, taking more time, Paddy discovers a hidden catch that when sprung, causes the cushioned seat of the throne to swing open like the lid of a chest....

Within the hollow base of the throne is the following treasure:

A longsword with pale blue steel blade and gold wire wrapped hilt inlaid with a rainbow of gemstones, radiates magic and glows with a pale blue light as bright as a torch when held, has the name Keenstar engraved along crossbars;

A warhammer with cold iron head and copper wire wrapped haft inlaid with agates and garnets, radiates magic and has the name Skullcrusher engraved in the head;

Five moonstones, five amethysts, and ten onyxes;

400 gp in a sack, and 30 pp in a pouch.

All rooms in this "dungeon" have been explored. All that remains for the Lusty Fools is to return to Notre Dame Cathedral to see whether the Necromancer's curse on the gargoyles has been lifted with his death or not, and to bring news of the Necromancer's death to Father Renaud....

M Human unchained monk 8/paladin 6

Each PC gains a bonus 400 XP for freeing Graveknight Sir Grimulf from servitude by revealing to him the death of his former master! As I've said before, I'm tracking XP for the party, so no need to track it yourselves, but just thought you'd all like to know what kinds of things besides defeating enemies is granting your PCs XP....

M Human unchained monk 8/paladin 6

The catacombs led to the cistern with the moat and domed stronghold under a house with adjoining round tower above ground. The Lusty Fools are currently in the upper chamber within the round tower, one story above street level.

As the LFs are looting the treasures from the throne-chest, the bells of Notre Dame ring to announce the midday hour....

M Human unchained monk 8/paladin 6

Having thoroughly explored and investigated the townhouse and the section of catacombs that link it with the crypts beneath Notre Dame cathedral, our heroes, The Lusty Fools, return through the streets of the city to the cathedral, approaching with caution lest the gargoyles still assail them with roof tiles....

The gargoyles perch in their accustomed roosts along the roof edge of the cathedral's facade, motionless as the stone statues they appear to be.... The curse has been broken, and they once more serve as protectors of the cathedral, it's clergy, and its parishioners!

Seeing the Lusty Fools, albeit far fewer in number than went down into the dangerous catacombs below, returning to the cathedral, bloodied and battered but alive and hauling sacks of loot on their backs, Father Renaud gives praise to God and weeps tears of relief....

Merci à Dieu , vous avez retourné , les amis!

Spoiler:
Thanks be to God, you have returned, my friends!

Spreading his arms out like Christ crucified, Father Renaud prays for God's healing power to restore vitality to all the surviving Lusty Fools here gathered....

Positive energy channel heals all PCs of 3d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 2) = 9 hit points damage....

In French: Did you encounter the traitor, Pierre Le Necromancier? Surely you did, and either sent him to Hell, or convinced him by force or guile to lift his curse on the gargoyles, for every one of them has come to repent of their mischief and receive a blessing before returning to their posts!

Aye Father....he has been sent to the depths. We did encounter some difficulty, but we managed. We met a kindred spirit down there....another who was after the necromancer's head. I think we are going to take a day or two to figure out what us next....unless there us another crisis for the church... Paddy says with a wry grin.

M Human unchained monk 8/paladin 6

With Father Renaud's aid, all magic items recovered from the adventure are identified.

Keenstar is a +1 keen longsword that glows blue like a torch when held;

Skullcrusher is a +1 warhammer that glows red like a torch when held;

A robe of bones;

A belt of mighty constitution +2;

A headband of vast intelligence +2;

Staring for the third straight hour into a pool deep in Sherwood Forest, The Witch of Eye finally beholds a vision of the Lusty Fools striking down Pierre the Necromancer in the townhouse in Paris....

She sighs....

Our brother in Paris has fallen.... Servants of the Christ-God....smote him down in his home in Paris.... And they have freed Sir Grimulf and the gargoyles of Notre Dame from his sway.... France is lost to us, and to Our Dark Lord Satan.... Let us curse them and bewitch them in due time, these meddlers which hath stolen victory in France from our Unholy Fellowship.... For the nonce, the wee King of England is our victim.... Daily, he shall waste away as I nibble upon yon waxen effigy.... Let us see if these meddlers can do ought about that! HAHAHAHA!!

Grand Lodge

Let's add up the treasure and see where we're at.

Pray to the Devil you're right, Witch, or I'll have your bloody head....

The Duke of Bedford stands beside the divination pool in the Sherwood Forest, horse's reigns in one hand and longsword in the other, nervously looking around for spies....

Do not threaten me, my Lord Bedford.... I could turn you into a newt and toss you into my cauldron quicker than you could blink an eye, sir.... So save your threats for our common enemies, for they are many, are they not?

Paling at the Witch of Eye's counterthreat, Bedford mumbles....

Aye, too damned many....

Father Renaud continues to pray for the healing of the wounded among the Lusty Fools, if needed....

In French: There is a very wealthy man who has lived in this city for as long as I have, and yet.... He seems to grow no older.... His name is Nicolas Flammel, and he lives in a fine house on Rue Channoneisse.... The red-and-blue house with gold leaf roof.... He might be interested in buying some of these treasures at a fair price.... He is a peculiar fellow, worth visiting if for no other reason than for the experience of his company.... An alchemist he was before he retired.... Some say he discovered the philosopher's stone.... And the Elixer of Immortality.... But there are many tall tales to be heard, and far few to be believed, my friends....

M Human unchained monk 8/paladin 6

The Lusty Fools have slain the traitorous priest, Pierre Le Necromancien, destroyed several skeletal champions and lesser undead skeletons, a necrophidius, the evil Necromancer's apprentice, Grenshek, the gray ooze, Le Goop, a ghoul piper, an otyugh, a deep one bearing the Scales of R'lyeh, a dragon skeleton in the moat, and all of the wicked little gremlins in the belfries of Notre Dame, and the few cultists discovered in the catacombs below....

They have lifted the curse of servitude to the Necromancer from Graveknight Sir Grimulf and the several gargoyles of Notre Dame....

They have rescued an innocent infant child from being sacrificed to the Devil....

And they have recovered a considerable hoard of treasure, some of which is magical!

What is their next move?

Return to the Inn of the Cave to see what news (and divine gifts) may await them there?

Venture to Rome to deal with the branch of the cult encountered in the catacombs underneath the ancient city by some of the Lusty Fools' former companions that went missing in the catacombs due to tricky teleportation traps?

Venture to England to investigate their compatriot Iommi-Tyr's reports of vile witchcraft worked by enemies of the child-King of that island nation? (Perhaps it is related to the work of the Cult of the Devil throughout Europa?)

Set out on some other course unforeseen by your humble GM?

I'll be here doing research until you come for me. Assuming, of course that you plan to continue to seek out the villains of Europe.

Any of three possibilities suit me: travelling to the HRE to find Sir Grimulf, travelling to Rome to get closer to Conflagratious & follow up on what those others told us, travelling to England to shed light on The Witch of Eye, Duchess Eleanor and any other evil brewing in London (and mayhaps gain counsel from the Ghost of Chaucer).
