No, Fame goes with Prestige, 1/1. You can spend Prestige, but Fame is permanent.

Tony I sent you a PM about this..

please read it and address it when you can. (it may take a few days I understand)

In the mean time I want to emphasize to everyone that an online profile for your character is very important in PbP play. Especially if you or your GM don't share Herolab files! So please take some time (everyone) and update your character profile if you haven't recently. It really makes a GM's life easier. Here's an example of one of my more complex characters..please note: I have a link to a google drive on his profile page that includes copies of all his chronicles and inventory tracking sheets should a GM ever ask for them..check him out Petrok
thx.

Hey guys, so Luckless reminded me that at Fame 9 I can't actually afford a Handy Haversack, so I swapped it out for Muleback Cords and now have Str18 for carrying capacity only. So I can still carry some of Jamir's stuff but its iffier because I'll be at Medium capacity for my own huge pile of gear unless I leave a few bulkier items behind.

Also, for the couple of weeks Torvald is roomies with Craggark here are some Spellcraft rolls. Does Torvald use the "copying spells" rules or the "researching spells" rules? Because if it's the latter I can only afford one new formula. Is it beyond the pale to suggest that Uliyara was able to provide some reference texts?:
Spellcraft (Bomber's Eye): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26 Success!
Spellcraft (Ant Haul): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11 Fail :(
Spellcraft (Identify): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15 Fail :(
Spellcraft (Keen Senses): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17 Success!
Spellcraft (True Strike): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23 Success!
Spellcraft (Crafter's Fortune): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17 Success!

I believe you use the less expensive option in PFS if you are in a town of 5000 or more. But I seem to remember something about alchemist having a very personal code to their formula books. This is something I'll need to look up I'm afraid, if anyone else has the answer please pipe in

Myth is a great player and I am glad to have him with us. Welcome aboard!

@ Torvald==> By your Fame score you can't purchase a haversack from your Faction, but if you happen to have something on a chronicle sheet, you can always purchase that if you have the money, regardless of Fame.

Alchemists can in fact learn spells from wizard spell books, but not vice versa due to the different formulas they transcribe the spells into.

... but you should be able to use a rented formula book, as Luckless said. Also, don't forget - you can take 10 on your spellcraft checks to copy new formulas if that will be enough to succeed.

Here's a link to my PFS arcanist's spellbook spreadsheet, which includes formulae for calculating the cost to scribe new spells. Feel free to copy and adapt it for Torvald.

I don't suppose that during our time hiding in Whitethrone, Uliyara was able to smuggle in the Nag of Holding? She would be very handy to have along (and Jamir left a bunch of useful gear in her pack saddle when we left Trollheim). If not, Jamir would certainly be willing to spend 8 gp on another donkey, if we would be able to bring it along and one can be had in this frozen country.

Otherwise, if nobody wants them, Jamir will ask Uliyara to arrange to sell: caltrops x2, hammer, marbles, oil x3, piton x6, smokestick, shovel, sunrod, torch x4.

Here's what Jamir needs to keep, but cannot carry: bedroll (1.25 lbs), winter blanket (0.75 lbs), mess kit (1 lb), trail rations x3 (0.25 lbs x 3 = 0.75 lbs; Jamir has 3, should buy more), and 30 of the 50 cold iron arrows he bought for his bow (0.075 lbs x 30 = 2.25 lbs; the sling staff was flavorful, but the action economy made it hard to use effectively). Luckily, they are all size small - the total weight, not counting any additional rations to be purchased, is 6 lbs. Torvald, I don't know how close to the limit you are - have you got that much room?

The nag can't be smuggled in (not practical) but Uliyara provides you with a Donkey and a list of items that you give her at no charge. (the list you hand her happens to match exactly what you had on the nag of holding) Also, you guys may purchase other mounts ect.. as well just as normal through Uliyara's servants..just remember ...mounts are subject to cold weather rules same as humans.. (that poor Tauntun!)

Just a reminder...I'm thinking the briefing and questions will be through by this weekend. We'll be ready to introduce Mythryndyr, by Monday or Tuesday. All purchases and character updates should be completed by then. (no retro actively asking me if you can get an extra scroll of endure elements while we're already on the steeps of frozen Lands of the Mammoth Lords.

Mythryndyr, expect a PM from me in the next couple days detailing how you'll meet up with the party, and how you came to find out about their mission.

I'll expect some roll-play upon your first meeting..( it's unlikely they'd just trust a stranger. You'll need to convince them your a Pathfinder sent to aid their mission. You'll have a letter of intro but letters can be forged. Perhaps you knew one of the others from the academy? Or maybe you can think of something more creative. Point is: we play these scenarios more like a campaign and enjoy our continuity..So work with the others and figure out the best way for you to be quickly integrated and trusted in the group.)

male Snows of Summer

One more thing..
Regarding cold weather rules: I have not picked up Ultimate Wilderness; so I am unaware of any changes. That being said...I will not be asking for Fort saves every hour you travel during the day if, you're wearing cold weather gear. In normal weather (ie. no sleet , freezing rain, heavy snow, or howling wind) I will consider cold weather gear to have met the protected condition of the cold weather rules.
At night when the temperature drops...expect to make fort rolls unless your in shelter or have magic (like endure elements) .

I am making this call because even the GM I ran this adventure with (as a player), eventually came around to see things my way, and figured out that in no way do Pathfinder cold weather rules represent anything that, resembles reality. I've also made this call because I find it distasteful to require spaming endure elements. just to survive a scenario, if played by RAW. (this does not mean I wish to discourage spaming endure elements. If you want to by all means...please do so. I just don't believe it should be your only answer to chilly weather.)

Jamir hasn’t gotten a 2PP wand of CLW yet - I think I was planning to do it for this one, so we don’t totally deplete Craggark’s. Let's say he does that. Jawhar and Torvald can each hold onto one of them, but definitely use Jamir's new one whenever possible.

OK. I guess I was remembering the one that we found. Just remember we all have a chronicle that allows us to buy a 7 charge wand for only 105gp.

That way you can still reserve PP for possible poisons and diseases.

I'd buy one myself if I hadn't spent all my money on this armor...

Gear purchases for Jamir before we leave Whitethrone:

- wand of CLW (2PP)
- one or two more spring-loaded wrist sheaths, depending on whether Jawhar, Torvald, and Lia want to borrow either of the two Jamir already has. The best use for them is letting our casters get swift access to wands, but Jamir thinks it would be handy to have a dagger in one and a potion of CLW in the other.
- trail rations and donkey feed. Jamir has five days of rations with what is on the donkey, but I suspect we will each need more than that. Lucklesshero, we will need to know roughly what to expect on this point before the party leaves the capital. We can ask in the gameplay thread, but sometimes we get caught up in the roleplay and miss some of the practical details, so I'm putting down a marker here.

Guys I'm going to make the rations part easy if you let me. If you're nag of holding is 2/3 or less encumbered I'll say all the supplies u need for food are carried on nag for the length of the trip ( unless you're interested in playing this out accurately) I'll deduct 10gp from your reward ( chronicle) at end of adventure to simulate cost + an extra 5 gp from Jamir for feeding the nag.

The only thing I am interested in playing out is: the nag will need to be protected from the weather at night at least. As I am sure u guys have plans to protect yourselves.

male Snows of Summer

Btw you'll eat reasonably well ( not just trail rations ) some times a hot meal like salted bacon and pot biscuits. Also you'll get to keep the trail rations on you. (Although if for some reason you guys get lost and run over you could theoretically dip in to those as well)

Just curious....does money have an encumbrance value in our game? I am never too sure about that.

Craggark will have the Not the Nag of Holding carry his bedroll, waterskin, snowshoes, winter blanket, and artisan tools. That gets him down to a light load. Woo hoo!

male Snows of Summer

Just use Hero lab to measure the "not Nag of holding's" encumbrance..it's the easiest way. If after you've put all your gear on it it's 2/3 or less encumbered I will not worry about rations on this trip (for ether yourselves or the Nag) I'll take 10gp from each of your chronicles (15gp from Jamir or if you divide the cost up say 11gp each).

Money does count toward encumbrance Craggark..there's an entry right on hero lab equipment page for it. That's why almost everyone converts to pp.. I suppose you could have letters of credit good in towns of 5000+
but there's no rules that I know of to support that. In any case Whitethrone would not have any of your factions represented.

Therefore, I am limiting the total number of Prestige points spent on equipment to 2pp totally(ie. I'll allow the wand and nothing else)..The only reason I am allowing the 2 PP points to be spent is Uliyara is resourceful and she has strong contact with Pathfinder Society right now. Be aware, Pathfinders are not welcome in Whitethrone. So moving around the city and calling in favors like prestige points is out of the question.

BY RAW: A character’s ability to spend Prestige Points is dependent on her being in contact with the Pathfinder Society or other members of her faction, and unless noted otherwise, the Pathfinder Society and most factions tend to have agents, contacts, or headquarters in settlements with at least 5,000 people.

Under the Unless noted otherwise clause: I am citing this as evidence that this city (Whitethrone) is not a city you can freely spend prestige points: The following comes from Exiles of Winter : "The merchants warned the PCs that Whitethrone has been up in arms against Pathfinders recently, and they would likely need to sneak into the city."

Also this: Once the players understand the course of events taking place “off screen,” allow them to buy anything they may need (assume this happened in Trollheim before the adventure began)

The fact that it is specifically pointed out that the group must buy their equipment in Trollheim before the adventure begins is enough for me to forbid or at least charge 5 pp points extra for PP transactions within Whitethrone. I just want to point this out before anyone else decides to buy stuff with PP points (it just doesn't fit with your situation)
If you need further raw to support my case: GMs can choose to limit the number of times Prestige Points may be spent during an adventure if the players become excessive and time is of the essence.

For the record I am ruling more than 2 PP points (total) spent in Whitethrone is excessive. Furthermore, time is of the essence and it's not practical to wait around for Uliyara to come up with another PP point item.

Um ok so ur coin doesn't count toward weight? That didn't look like an official ruling but i's enough to convince me you need not count your gold toward encumbrance if it's an issue

Thanks, Lucklesshero.

And Jamir will be delighted to accept the food and beverage all-inclusive option for this voyage, thank you (that does include ale, right?).

I have created a Google spreadsheet for everyone to list their gear (with weight) held on the donkey so we can keep track of it. I suggest you leave it on your Hero Lab file and either mark it "Dropped to Ground" or create a custom container (if you use the ShadowChemosh adjustments in the community Pathfinder Pack), store the items there, and then tag that as "Dropped to Ground." Here is the link: What the Nag of Holding Is Holding. Let me know if you have trouble accessing or editing.

Not the Nag is currently carrying 124.75 lbs out of her 225 lbs capacity (2/3 = 150 lbs). However, 50 lbs of that is the 5 days of donkey feed already on her inventory, which Jamir can abandon (I think he'll survive the loss of the 0.25 gp investment), which gets us down to 74.75, meaning there is 75.25 lbs of carrying space for additional party gear, and Jamir can toss some of the tools and such he has in the pack saddle overboard if need be. Nobody should be wasting encumbrance with a bedroll, for example. Please add anything you want her to carry; we'll figure out if we need to dump anything once we have everything entered.

Lucklesshero, on the cold weather checks, you may recall that way back when the original Nag first joined the party, I tried unsuccessfully to find a horse blanket under animal gear and finally just bought a winter blanket from the normal equipment list and tied it onto her with some rope. Donkeys already have a +4 bonus on top of their usual Fortitude save bonus to avoid damage from cold weather; I don't know if the blanket should give her a circumstance bonus or not, but it makes sense for flavor. Jamir wouldn't want her to get cold.

The cold weather blanket option will stack

I'd like to announce an SoP to predict the weather every morning when we get up (DC 15 check). Not sure if you want to allow assisting or not.

I am +6. If taking 10 is allowed for this check, that would be automatic.

On days when the temperature is going to be really cold, I will start the day by spamming 6 charges of Endure Elements.

You could just tell us each morning if if we are spamming charges or not.

Yep, and you can get an additional 24 hours for each 5 you beat the DC by, but that would only be helpful in circumstances we are not likely to see (traveling at sea perhaps).

male Snows of Summer

Taking 10 is a fine option..and eases play go ahead you'll automatically know if the weather will turn ugly that day all the way to next morning. If you want to (try) predict a couple of days out announce "I'll roll instead of take '10' on survival to predict weather today"..

That can’t be good.

Ok to my core: 5,
Mythryndry’s game has run overly long for one reason or another. He’s been responsible and notified me. I’ll definitely keep him in mind for a future game. However, we still have this one to run. I actually have no preference of waiting or not. It’s your story guys and you’ve waited a while.

Need you to vote your heart here people. Mythryndry is caught up in the final combat of his game. It could be one or two weeks before he’s done. But if we wait, that means no post and no roll play from this game for me one to two weeks. We’d be basically at the mercy of another GM.

Make no mistake I can wait. I’ve got plenty to keep me occupied. I want a open vote on the thread whether or not to wait. The vote must carry at least four out of five of you to keep Mythryndry. Don’t worry about hurting his feelings if you want to play (now)he understands. There will be no more post till I hear back from you all thx

I'm happy to wait, Myth looks like a fun guy and also it gives me the player more time to complete the changes lucklesshero requested.
