First, the party's hit point rolls have been off the chart! Second, it's Improved Feint (not Faint), otherwise, it would be quite hilarious!

LOL, spelling is one of my weak points. Sad because I have a BA in English!! I was using Firefox which spell checks my posts, but since my PC died I am using my wifes and she only has Explorer on hers.

I think I got it spelled right in my profile.

I love the image of Improved Faint though. In the middle of the fight he collapses to the floor. When the opponent comes up to see what happened, he leaps into action and skewers them!

Lucendar, what do you think? Would you let us make cloaks of endure elements at 3rd level?

The Keffiyeh of Cooling is in the Legacy of fire's player guide - http://grandwiki.wikidot.com/pfc2
-seems to be OGC, so the address should be fine.

A thing to have - but takes up the neck slot IIRC.

Hate to miss a good chunk of the fight, but I will be out most of today. I'll check in when I get back. Jarva will advance and start swinging when the demon comes into the mill.

And unfortunately, I will probably be out all of tomorrow. Gotta drive the family 6 hours to Cleveland, stay for a couple hours, athen drive all the way back. Sheesh...

I need a DM Ruleing. I was re calculating my AC and Attak bonus from my last post and realized that the PDR doesn't give a bonus type for fighting defensively. Untyped bonus's stack however I noticed that being on a full defensive is typed as a dodge bonus. If I was the DM I would rule that fighting defensive is a dodge bonus so it shouldn't stack with combat expertise, and that the PDR Is a misprint. What do you think?

In 3.5, fighting defensively was a dodge bonus and dodge bonuses are actually one of the ones who do stack so you can combine them. If you look at total defense, it specifically states that you can't combine it with combat expertise. So fighting defensively and combat expertise, go for it. I think PRD forgot to state it was a dodge bonus.

Dodge Bonuses: Dodge bonuses represent actively avoiding blows. Any situation that denies you your Dexterity bonus also denies you dodge bonuses. (Wearing armor, however, does not limit these bonuses the way it limits a Dexterity bonus to AC.) Unlike most sorts of bonuses, dodge bonuses stack with each other.

RPG Superstar 2008 Top 16

Cool, as I was writing the post something was tickling the back of my brain that said it was OKAY. I forgot that Dodge bonus's were okay to stack. Thanks for clearing it up for me.

Drive careful on your long trip, Gerald. We'll try to hold down the fort... er, the mill.

OR we will blow it up!!

Throwing a question out to the players: reading Acrobatics, do you think it requires a check for each square, as I did it, or one roll for the whole movement?

This is the part that gets me:
This DC is used to avoid an attack of opportunity due to movement. This penalty increases by +2 for each additional opponent avoided in one round.

I'd like to read your opinions.

This part

In addition, you can move through a threatened square without provoking an attack of opportunity from an enemy by using Acrobatics.

leads me to believe you did it correctly, one roll per square, with the +2 per opponent passed applying to every one of the rolls. I just think that because they state "a threatened square" not "area" or "square(s)".

RPG Superstar 2008 Top 16

Yes you would roll for each square that is threatened by one of us. The DC of his roll would be equal to our CMD but the CMD goes up by 2 for each avoided AOO prior.

That would be my ruling as well, DM.

Great posting today, guys. Hopefully we are beating it up a little, cause it is sure doing the same to us...

Looks like Bahiyy needs to keep on healing - best way forward I'd say.

This is the last time I can check until late today.

Good luck to everyone. It's looking kind of grim, I'm afraid.

Jarva and Quzman need to start pounding it with the holy weapons if we are going to finish him. If we get him flanked and use the aid another option to help make sure they score hits we can still get him.

Today and Sunday will be difficult for me to check the thread, It's my birthday and I have family plans both days as well as helping some new neighboors move in. I will try to check in later tonight so DM Eli as needed to defeat this thing. GOOD LUCK Team.

Happy birthday!! I will not be DMing any players...feels like I'm playing by myself then! So if we have to wait for Monday, that's fine. It's kind of tense moment where we left off.

Happy Birthday! Go, relax and have a great time with family. We'll be here when you get back! :)

M almost human

The end of Bahiyy, failed his save, so at least -3hp... - unless he got one back from Brebork and the roll is a 1 or 2

You die at negative Con now so you die at -14.

And if Dumah survives a round, he'll try to revive Bahiyy. He's got very little he can do now that the gnolls are fallen.

Try a force missle Mark...maybe we'll get lucky and pass his SR. Can't hurt to give it a shot.

M almost human

You see, not 100% in Pathfinder yet, I was 100% sure that Bahiyy is dead.

Sorry, Pete. Tough luck. I am sure Lucendar wouldn't mind if you wanted to stat up another character, and let us find you in a bit (assuming we all don't get TPK'ed right here in a second!)...

M almost human

But Bahiyy is not dead yet, he is at -10, dead at -12...., holding my breath.

Oh, I didn't realize that. Keep hope alive!!

Yeah, a TPK is a distinct possibility here. It has been decades since I've been involved in one of those... :)

Nice try with the magic missle. If it had gotten through, that might have won the whole thing. If Quzman, Eli or I can live another round and get a couple hits, we might get out of this thing after all. If not, well you know...

Well darn...that's a heck of a crit right there! Take him down everyone.

So sorry, Gerald. The halberd is x3.....

Those things happen, DM. It wouldn't be any fun if there was no danger. But as Kyra and Jarva can attest, x3 crits suck!!

Wow...leave town for a funeral, and come back to a slaughter in progress =p.

That's too bad Gerald, but Jarva was dishing it out there to the demon before he went down.

Congrats to the party!!!! That was a CR 6 encounter and the AP expects the party to take it on at 3rd level! In my RL game, I killed 2 of the players the first time they fought while the others fled. Second time they came back and just fought the demon and won, so great job winning it the first time.

Gerald, what do you want to do? Make a new character? Play Brebork (he just made it to 3rd level!)? Leave? Let me know.

Hhhhmmm...I definitely would like to stay in the game. Before yesterday I would have just played Brebork since I liked that character so much, but I just got accepted to another game, playing a character as an homage to Brebork. Wouldn't want to do that twice.

I think I would like to stat out another character, maybe some sort of ranged attacker, which we don't seem to have. Something like a basic ole ranged fighter, if that might be acceptable. I need a couple days to get the character together, if that's okay. This week is kinda crazy and it would probably be until Tuesday evening at the earliest that I could get it posted. But I know it would be several days of time before I could be introduced..

I usually play a caster, so you all might have to handhold me a little bit to make sure I am up on all the nuances of a fighter.

No problem, play what you like. It won't take that long to get you in, since the caravan now has a base of operations at the Monastery. Whenever you have it ready, let me know.

Okie dokie, DM. I'll get it together early to mid week, and I'll post it here, I suppose, for your review. Like I said, I'll need you all to check the numbers for me, to be sure I got everything right...

Yes, please take your time building another interesting character and come back. You've really added a lot to this game and we'd hate to lose you.

Oh don't worry, this is my favorite PbP game. Lucendar can't get me out of here, unless he kicks me out!

And here are my hit point rolls for the as-yet-unnamed fighter.

2d10 ⇒ (3, 1) = 4

Edit: good thing he is gonna be ranged! I'll be taking the half max for both of those rolls...

Not a chance!

M almost human

Sorry for you Gerald, and Bahiyy could nearly atest that 3x crits suck, he got so close.... - and damn lucky.

RPG Superstar 2008 Top 16

HOLY !!!!. I sure missed out on the end of the fun. Darn Birhtday :) Sorry to see we lost Jarva, I realy liked him. I am sure what ever you make to replace him will be just as cool too. I will get a post cathcing Eli up on the thread soon. Things will be a bit busy for me this week, wife is heading off to Minniapolis at the end of the week and we have a lot to do before she can go. I will post as often as I can, at least once a day.

Dumah would be glad to take the Bag of Tricks. Previously I had thought the item a joke, primarily because of the way it has been joked about, especially HERE and HERE. But wow, Jarva’s use of it will certainly teach me to be so dismissive!

Funny stuff!

I'm still reading. I will get the character together sometime tomorrow evening.

DM, how much gold for 3rd level characters? Book says 3000 and I want to be sure that is right,
