Ah .. ok .. thanks for the heads up there :)

And yes .. I'm still lurking in the dark.
I've just been swamped with work. I had to organize a complete move of 65 people to another building (IT and all).

Plus my colleague was on holiday ... But all is returning to normal now :)

We may need to face possibility that we have lost Brebork. I'll wait till Friday to see if he reappears. Thoughts?

He has been posting with some regularity before. Perhaps it was an unexpected interruption with work, family or systems going down. I agree that we should give him some time. Maybe up to the weekend like you suggested? Will TDLofCC's pending character help fill the gap at all?

Whatever you decide will work for me Lucendar. It would be a shame to lose him, as he was really getting into Brebork's character it seemed, but the game does need to continue.

Hopefully all is well on his end.

Do you have an email for him, have you tried to contact him? I would say if he doesn't post by Friday then make up an in story reason for him to stay with the camp and continue on with out him. That way if he does come back in the next week or so it's easy to write him back into the adventure. I sure hope he make is back his character brings a lot to the story.

MD has a good idea there. It would make good sense in story for Brebork to stay at the monastery to help get it in shape again. He was making Brebork such a vibrant character I would hate to see him out of this storyline.

I did e-mail him but no response either. I think you guys have good suggestions, him staying at the monastery. I really would hate to lose him, his character was really vibrant, as Mark said. And a cleric is invaluable! Especially, with the stuff that is coming....the gnolls!

I'm bummed out about Brebork's absence. I hope he is okay.

Don't know what we will do without the 1/2 orc hamming it up! Thought he did a great job with him.

Has TLD decided on a class for his substitute character?

Gerald wrote:

Yes and it's not a cleric, but I don't want to ruin the in-game rp, though I think he did mention it on the boards already.

Brebork's player was in another PbP and they too are wondering where he is and if he's okay. I'm hoping it is just a technology issue.

I did ... Just waiting to be written back into the storyline :)

Well if TDLofCC is not a cleric and if Brebork doesn't make it back do we need to recruit another player? Were there any other players who submitted cleric concepts at the start you could contact to see if they want to join in. Or you could open up a request to find a player who wants to join in late. The worst that can happen is we end up with a new player and Brebork comes back and we have two clerics in the party. I think the thread moves along well enough that another player wouldn't hurt it.

Either that or our potion concessions will do a booming business...

No one else made a cleric so Brebork's spot was pretty secure. If he does not respond by tomorrow, I guess we'll have to decide whether to recruit. Just worried that the great pace we've had will slow down.

It shouldn't we just keep playing and as soon has you have a replacement we add them in, as long as you work with the player to make the characters story blend into the current story it will make for good role play. I hope Brebork comes back because we were having great role play with him, but if not the story will go on.

Are Jarva and Quzman cool with recruiting a cleric, since it seems Brebork is gone? Please let me know.

However you'd like to move forward is fine with me. Recruiting another cleric could be good for future adventuring.

It is a shame, as I really think Brebork was getting a feel for the character.

I am fine with you recruiting another character, DM. I'd request that we leave Brebork in limbo at the temple, so if he comes back, he might be able to jump back in.

Cool, I have no problem with Brebork chillin' at the Monastery, once you clear it out. I posted the recruitment thread so we'll see what happens.

I found the group a cleric on the recruitment post. Hopefully, he will post as soon as he feels comfortable and we can get him and TDL into the game.

RPG Superstar 2008 Top 16

Excellent! We have a full party again WOOT!

RPG Superstar 2008 Top 16

Q: What has happened to Amir and Samir? Are they upstairs or are they just down chilling in the monastery?

Sugestion. Let some of us help with the load of keeping track of what they do. You could assign two of the players to post for them when ever they post for their own character. That way you don't have to worry about it and they can be helpful to the party. Just send a simple character sheet to the players that are controlling them. Obviously you have the power to overrule any action we would make in your DM posts to keep us from abusing the NPC's. I'd be glad to post for one if it would help.

Alright, so I am the new edition to the group, hope to start soon. In my profile you can se my character, so the others get a feel for him.

Just a few questions:
for stats I made one small switch, that's all.
For armor, anything special there, as the campaign takes place in a desert? Like speically modified things, or regular armor, and you have to live (and get cooked in it) with it?

roll for second level hp: 1d8 ⇒ 7

M almost human

Btw., if you want me to add something to integrate Bahiyy into the group, just let me know. Eager to get in - as TDL it seems.

Yes, feel free to ask questions. About the armor, the armor check penalty is -4. As to the specifics of the effect of armor in the desert, the danger is heat exhaustion (DC 15 Fortitude save every hour with a -4 penalty to save if you wear armor or suffer 1d4 nonlethal damage and are faigued) unless you cool off. However, due to your create water orison (instant shower), which you can cast 9x times per day (in your case, per my houserule), you should be fine. I have not been enforcing it strictly, since the party previously had a druid and a cleric with the orison.

M almost human

Is everyone running around with light armor? Would this be a more sensible approach then scale mail? And I guess endure elements should do it against heat exhaustion.

Welcome to the team, Pete. Glad to have you...I think most of us are just going the light armor route. Didn't want to go through the heat effects of medium or higher armor, but go for it, if that's what you want to do.

Actually, yes, everyone else is in either light armor or no armor (wizard). Up to you and the flavor you have for your character if you want to stick to scale mail. With endure elements, you will be fine in the armor.

RPG Superstar 2008 Top 16

Welcome PeteZero, I look forward to meeting Bahiyy in character.

male Human Cleric 5

Are the effects more severe in medium armor? It is just with his DEX, and it looks like being more in the front, it would be worth running around in medium armor.

And there is still endure elements, especially as for a city person as Bahiyy.

Looking forward to this and to get into the game.

RPG Superstar 2008 Top 16

What would Bahiyy do? If he would purchase and ware Scale mail then get it, if it doesn't make sense for him to have it then stay with lighter armor.

Bahiyy al Din wrote:

-8 to Fort Save w/o endure elements

male Human Cleric 5

Fine with scale - and endure elements - he can feel the breeze flowing around him whichh keeps him cool. Maybe should buy some plate mail, that would be sstrange and cool (or better hot?) in the desert?

Sorry for the delay, but welcome to the team Pete. Looking forward to seeing you in the thread.

Welcome aboard! I think our characters have something in common, a particular missing swordswoman...

I noticed that too, should lead to some good roleplay when they meet each other and figure out they are both looking for the same woman.

M almost human

I guess they know each other, how often they have met, don't know. As Haleen is/wasBahiyy's sister, she might have been out when she supported Dumah, so they could have met never, occasionally, or frequently.

I'm guessing they've met infrequently; Haleen arranged for Dumah to be taken off the street and apprenticed to a wizard acquantance of hers.

Add a Bag of Tricks (rust colored) and a Chime of Opening (4 uses) to party treasure.

And once we solve the buried mystery that Eli brought to our attention, we can divvy up the items and treasure we found so far, and figure out a way to settle with the good potion vendor.

RPG Superstar 2008 Top 16

We need to settle with the vendor I sure was hoping to find some coin loot to pay him off with instead of having to trade away magical gear.

Now that we believe we have cleared any dangers in this structure, Dumah will be going around and taking 20 to examine the building very carefully to see if we've missed anything of danger or value. I just wanted to see what was buried before declaring that action.

RPG Superstar 2008 Top 16

We are waiting to finish digging until the next morning so the cleric can detect evil.

Hey guys, for the magic items...

Jarva would love the bag of tricks if no one else puts up too much of an argument. Just seems like something a druid would use.

Also, we need to remember to get the brooch of shielding off Brebork, since it appears he is gone. I think Dumah would benefit the most from it.

Seems like Eli should get the chime of opening.

Those are just my thoughts.

M almost human

No clue when Bahiyy will appear, just to let you know (if you would try to get him in later then 5pm today) I am out until Monday May31st - camping with the scouts.

I think giving the bag of trick to Jarva is a good idea. As for the Brooch I think we should let Brebork keep it. The character is still alive and our characters will still interact with him at the camp. I don't think it makes sense in character to take it away. Eli would never ask for it.

My apologies to everyone ... I've completely been swamped with RL and work.

I had even forgotten to check in from time to time.

I don't like to leave without saying a word, since the DM put some time in my character ... but I'm withdrawing from this PbP.

So good luck to all and hope to be back someday.

-TDL

Sorry to hear that, TDL. I know it took a long time to get you back in the game, but I thought we would get through events faster, so I apologize.

EDIT: But I see you have posted this comment on your other PbP games as well, so I hope you can get back to rping when RL calms down. Later!

That's no problem, the story must unfold as it is :)

I might be back someday ... in the meanwhile I'll be lurking about the forums.

Good luck to all, go avenge Kyra !

I cant believe I didn't make the Vardishal connection until reading my notes this morning. I even had them copied into my profile since we first found the wall carvings. Wow, this is exciting. And I have to note that this is the longest lasting PBP I have been in. All the others I have tried to play in have fizzled out by now, in fact our OOC thread has more posts than many of the game threads. Thanks everyone for keeping at it. I cant wait to introduce our new character and see where this story goes.
