Like you I could use the dagger but would probably use my rapier more. Dumah might get the best use out of the dagger so I suggest that we let him have it.

Dumah could take it for now, but I'm not sure how likely he is to use it either. We also have the mace we need to re-allocate. If we came to an opponent that could only be hurt by magical weapons, I think it would make sense to have our best melee combatants armed with these items. If we found superior weapons for them later, then we could pass the dagger to Dumah. But with five first level spells and 7 uses of force missiles a day, I'm hoping to not have to resort to melee very much....

Good point. Then maybe we should give the mace to Brebork and the dagger to Quzman since they are the best front line warriors we have at the moment.

Quzman could use one or the other for now, and can pass them on as needed/wanted later. I can't remember if it was a light mace or regular mace right now, but he could use a light weapon in the off hand to maybe have a chance to be more effective in combat at the moment. However, if others would like them, that is fine too.

I think MD is making a good point. Brebork could use the mace and Quzman the dagger. Does Quzman have an extra nonmagical dagger,Jarva could use?

Did we ever see what gear the archer brothers had? Perhaps there is an extra dagger to be had there.

Actually, yeah. I could use that, I hadn't remembered I had it till I checked my sheet =p.

I like the idea of a +1 light mace in the off hand for Quzman. He'll need a good bludgeoning weapon from time to time. Brebork prefers the scimitar against humanoids (using his blade of mercy style). I suggest we give it to Quzman.

I hope with some role playing we can convince the archers to be somewhat loyal and fight alongside us with their weapons. We could use a couple of archers right now.

Is it a light mace?

RPG Superstar 2008 Top 16

Okay so let's give Quzman the mace. Who should take the dagger? If no one wants it I would suggest that Dumah use it incase he can't cast spells and we can sell or trade it latter. We do owe Jarva 120 gp as well as the halfling back at camp for the potions.

I'm a little at a loss for picking another language. Can you recommend anything? If not, I'll probably start collecting the languages for the outer planes starting with Infernal.

Yeah, I think the planar languages are a good choice, you seem to have everything else pretty much covered.

hp 55/55 AC: 26/17/21 F +5 R +11 W +6 {+4 vs bards/sonic/lang; +1 vs traps} Initiative + 4; Perception +9

Will Dumah use the dager, if not I will take it until we can sell or trade it to pay off Zastoran.

Yes, Dumah will take the dagger and use it for now. When we reach a major city (if there is one in this AP), we can re-evaluate the items we have picked up and either redistribute them or sell them. I'll add it to Dumah's profile.

Will TDLofCC be bringing in a new character?

Yes, he will, but in order for it to make rational sense in the game, the party has to reach a certain scene, which you have not reached yet. I gave him the option of making another character in order to come in sooner, but he decided to wait.

RPG Superstar 2008 Top 16

Very cool, cant wait until we meet the new adventurer.

That's great! I'm very much looking forward to having TDLofCC joining us again!

Will be spending the day with the family to celebrate MOM! Won't be able to post again until late or possibly tomorrow.

I like Garavels idea of giving the party a "name" and I think it needs to come out of the role play. If Garavel starts calling us the Scarlet Brigade then thats what we will end up being called. If we want to pick something else we should suggest it here and then maybe our DM will work it in or we can work it into to the role play ourselves. I think it would be neat if we all agreed on something the represents the party well. What suggestions do you all have, maybe something involving Kyra's name.

I have read your PbP from page 1 and want to say that it is one awesome read. If it is improper for me to jump in here and post I apologize but I wanted to voice my pleasure in this read. Furthermore, is there a thread where I can brush up on the rules? I was interesting in playing one of these Play by Posts. I have the general gist down from watching and reading your adventure. Id like to say that your styles mesh very well, and Lucendar is a great DM.. Again, keep up the great stuff.

I know it's hard to convey emotion in words, but I hope you understood he was being silly and sarcastic with the name of "Scarlet Brigade", as he was drunk. It was the first thing I thought of, hope that came across on the post. But if you guys want a real group name, cool, go for it.

Hey Cyruss, thanks for the post and the compliment. Glad you are enjoying it as much as I am. Brush up on the rules? If you are referring to making a character, combat, etc., then I suggest PRD Link. Enjoy!

Cyruss, also look for a post in the Gamer Connection by JZ. He always has games he runs specifically for players new to PbP. He is a good DM and very patient. I'm not sure how long his waiting list is, but I'm finishing up Carrion Hill with him now and have really enjoyed it!

I second the post to look for DM JZ. I am currently playing in his Realm of the Fellnight Queen adventure and it is really good.

Okay, so now I am starting to think that Eli should take a level of fighter at the next advancement point. :)

I thought I was going to see some bardic action, but no go. I think the inspire courage will help offset the -1 to damage you have when you use it.

I thought about it but it can only be used for 7 rounds each day and I didn't want to waste them on lone bird which I figured we would be able to take out fairly easily. If things had not gone that way I would have kicked it in. I am hoping that I will always be able to flank so that I get that extra die of damage to offset my weak strength. I am also thinking about working towards the duelist prestige class to be a little more effective in combat.

How about this: switch out deceitful (really, how often do you think you will use disguise?), take combat expertise. 3rd level, go rogue and take skill focus: bluff and then use your 2nd level rogue talent to take a combat feat (improved bluff). Then as a move action you can feint and deal +1d6 sneak attack damage with your standard action without needing to depend on anyone for the flank. Or you can spend them on requisites for duelist, like dodge and mobility?

Thanks for the idea, I just read the bluff skill and I had forgotten I could use the feint trick. I only took deceitful to get the +2 to bluff for the gambling aspect and figured it might be nice to have the disguise bonus as well. Based on the campaign so far skill focus should have been the way to go. If you don't care I will change it.

MythrilDragon wrote:

You have not used the disguise skill in game and skill focus:bluff seems to make more sense with your character, so I have no problem with it.

Okay I made the change. Thanks for letting me do it. What feat were you suggesting Improved Bluff?

MythrilDragon wrote:

You need combat expertise first, but you get a feat at 3rd level. If you go rogue at 3rd, you can take a combat talent to get improved bluff. Or you can wait to get it at 5th, if you go bard.

OH, Improved Feint. Yeah that looks good. I might do that.

MythrilDragon wrote:

Yes, my bad, Improved Feint, not Improved Bluff! :)

In DM JZ's Carrion Hill PbP, I have a 5th level rogue that is using the Improved Feint combination and it has been working well for him.

RPG Superstar 2008 Top 16

Yeah, I think I am going to go that route and take Rouge at my next level and use the rouge talent to take a combat feat. With my 3rd level feat and that I can take both combat expertise and improved feint so I will be able to use the ability right away to my advantage. If I keep the idea of the Duelist I can take dodge and mobility at 5th and 7th levels, alternating bard and rogue until I meet all the pre recs for the prestige class. I will just have to see how the role play goes, I am a big fan of letting the story dictate how I advance my character.

RPG Superstar 2008 Top 16

Did any of the magic user types identify the dagger an what magic it possessed I don't recall seeing it in the thread and wanted to update the treasure record.

MD, I am pretty sure it was a +1 Dagger.

Yes, it was (+1).

RPG Superstar 2008 Top 16

Thanks I thought it was but just wanted to double check.

I think once we finish clearing the monastery, we should look at what we have recovered and see if we are ready to permanently divide it. If our next stop is going to be assaulting the gnolls, we should be as prepared as possible.

So no one is currently wearing them, correct, the cloak or ring?

At this point, no, no one is wearing either item. I'll be suggesting in character shortly that they be put on until we are ready to parse out the recovered valuables.

For items like the cloak and the ring, that everyone can get equal use from, I might suggest just a random roll for everyone and the winner takes the prize. As we get more items we can trade as needed. Just a thought.

I hadn't read your in character post before I made my last reply in this topic. I am cool with Dumah's distribution plan. That seems reasonable...

RPG Superstar 2008 Top 16

Sounds good to me.

Totally off the subject, but saw Robin Hood last night, and thought it was lots of fun! The RPer in me saw a bard, ranger, and fighter in his band, as well as numerous crits in the movie. LOL..

Male

Any ETA for the introduction of my new character ?

It will happen as soon as they finish clearing the monastery, they're almost finished with the first. Depends on player posting rate. Glad you're still around.
