We still have 5 right? Doesn't seem like we need to recruit, though we could.

Idris of the Blade |
We don't necessarily, but it would help a lot in this campaign to have a ranged/outdoors specialist. Well, maybe Maja could take a level of Ranger? Would fit a cleric of erastil, and you mentioned wanting her to learn the bow. Otherwise, recruiting another ranged/outdoors specialist would be useful. The setting allows for easy recruitment -- someone shows up at the trading post, or someone turns an NPC into a PC, such as Litfin or the kobold. A kobold ranger who does lots of traps could be interesting.
Kivan Corsan |
I just wanted to ask, but how much exp did we get from the mites, and the kobold.
Red Ramage |
I've tossed together a list of all the xp items you've earned. Please read over it and make sure I haven't left anything out that you've done so far. XP list
I prefer to track XP for the group as a whole and ding the whole party at the same time.

Works for me.

I'd like to mention how I handle a situation that will occur shortly. The centipede is going to attack Idris with its bite attack, with which it has 15 foot reach. Idris has readied an action to attack the centipede as soon as she is able. Technically, the centipede can stay 3 squares away and attack her with impuny. However, since it is attacking her with a natural weapon, its head has to get close to her. I rule that this can trigger Idris' readied action.
I rule this way with readied sunder or disarm actions against manufactured weapons as well. Example: Billy Bandit is facing off against Hanna Hero. Billy is armed with a glaive (10 ft reach) and Hannah is wielding a longsword (5 foot reach). Hannah wins initiative and readies an action to disarm Billy's spear. When Billy attacks Hanna on his turn, she interrupts with a disarm combat maneuver and sends his polearm to the ground, cancelling his attack.
Idris of the Blade |
Sounds sensible, I appreciate the house rule being explained in advance. I would run things like that myself in my games. Wow, how big is that centipede to have 15 foot reach?!
Red Ramage |
Lets just say you don't have to worry about it crawling into your boot overnight
Pretty |
Ha! You better get out of there Idris ^_^
Idris of the Blade |
Whew! That's one hell of a tough battle! It's hiding spot in the chasm gives it a real advantage. Of course, rolling all those 1s sure didn't help. The average amount of damage to be expected from three two-handed hits would be about 22.5 damage. Instead, I did 12.
Pretty |
Without sneak attack I'm basically useless as much as damage goes. But I can defend myself pretty well. ^_^
I'm worried about the channel healing the centipede he he
Seraphina Medvyed |
Well, Sera's worried about ranged attacks at her 12 AC behind, she may be dropping prone in the near future. Lawd, that Mage Armor can't come soon enough!
Pretty |
Well, they will come in the most three at a time. They are all small so the front liners grant us cover, plus the melee penalty. I'll be fighting defensively until we got backup, with AC 22, although I don't many hit points, but I won't be hit so often, even by the improved mites
Pretty |
Selective channel is for the weak!
With 15 points I guess that highly unlikely...
Red Ramage |
I usually run 20 pt buy games. There may be something I can do 'bout that.
Red Ramage |
Momentum is important in PBP so sometimes in the interest of keeping the game moving I'll take a turn for someone. No need to apologize or explain, stuff happens!
Seraphina Medvyed |
Mine! Thanks, I agree about momentum... I'm a little harried and behind, trying to play catch up everywhere. I'll post next round shortly.
Red Ramage |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
It is my pleasure to inform you that the group has earned enough experience to advance to second level. xp tracker.
As you level up, please redo your stats with a 20 point buy instead of the 15 you started with.
Pretty |
Gold sheet updated.
We level up right now?
Pretty |
Before leveling, I would like to make a small change on Pretty, exchanging the Blade of the Society trait for the River Rat, if that's ok with you Ramage.

Pretty |
Oh yes, ASSUMING we are, cause I just followed the lead ^_^
Red Ramage |
...wow, that loot tracking sheet looks better than the accounting at work. Do you happen to be an accountant by trade?
Pretty's trait swap is fine.
You may either roll or take 3/4 round down hp (EG 7 hp on a d10), your choice.
leveling up happens as soon as you earn the xp.
Seraphina Medvyed |
Oh my! No wonder we had a post-splotion! I've been in study-crunch mode last 48 hours. This will be a fun task to devote my now off-duty brain cells, thanks for the point boost! ^_^
I may need a little time though, picking spells is hard! >_<
HP roll!: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7 Whee!
Pretty |
Thanks. I'm a tax lawyer in Brazil. I made the Sheet for this game, but then started to use it in some others, making some upgrades and now this one is the final work, but I think we're doing fine with that one so far.
So Pretty is ready to move on!
Pretty |
By the way we need to identify the radish-tasting potion. Anyone?

^_^
Pretty |
Btw, I thought I have asked before and I think you told me something about it, but is there anything if we follow the other branch at the tree exit? There were two ways and we followed left, I believe.
Red Ramage |
It's circular. The exit from the living quarters rejoins the main passage and was that other branch.
Idris of the Blade |
Seraphina, it looks like you didn't update your profile with the changes you made to your character -- you said you put points into Strength, but it still shows you at 7.
Seraphina Medvyed |
Yeah, I got busy and didn't finish updating like I'd planned. It's updated now. Left the old sheet under the spoiler in case I made a mistake or one of my changes isn't allowed.
Put all 5 points into STR raising 7 to 11
Since Toughness is a Bloodline feat, I'd like to put it off for later and take Magical Aptitude instead. (If GM advises against the switch, I'll change it. Kinda hoping we'll find some magical goodies soon.) ^_~
Skills went into: Bluff, Intimidate, Spellcraft and Use Magic Device
Chose 2 new 0-level spells(1 for level up, 1 for Fav Class bonus: Mage Hand and Resistance
So with Cassius officially out now, should we recruit one more martial PC? Or shall Kivan continue to escort a pair of lovely ladies on each arm? ^_^
Red Ramage |
For the exploration phase, I'm trying to work up a large-scale map. In my meatspace game, I purchased the map folio, put the posters together side by side (there's four of them), taped them in place and had office max laminate them together. It made a badass hex map/tablecloth that we drew stuff on. I handled fog of war by cutting out hexagons from the blank map in the player's guide and putting them over the hexes in question with double sided tape.
I'm trying to re-create this online now. I snipped the maps from the PDFs and joined them together. The image is way too huge to view well in google drive, so I'm looking at other hosting methods. I'm also a novice at image editing so I'm trying to find a free image editor that uses layers and makes good hexagons (suggestions welcome - I'm trying out Gimp and struggling). The goal is ultimately to have a macro map of the entire kingmaker area that you can zoom in on for fine detail, that also allows me fog of war. If I have to, I'll just host a 'lastest revision' static image and put a link in the campaign info that takes you there.
Just a little heads up on the behind the scenes. Hopefully I have this up and running by the time hexploration starts in earnest.
Red Ramage |
couple other things: Unless anybody has an objection, I'm going to set the current date as 8 Gozran (april), 4710. The snow would have melted and the worst of the spring mud subsided, making it the logical time of year to start a long exploration.
Would you all like to recruit a 6th player? I'm ok running for either 5 or 6.
Pretty |
If I were to choose I would leave it at 5, but we make take one more without a problem.
I Ramage, MapTools handles fog of war pretty well, but takes a while to get used to it. Maybe Roll 20 would also be useful for that, although I'm not sure zoom works fine there. I would go with Google Docs, make a hexed blank map an paste the details as we move forward, although it might get too big... I'm also not the expert on maps, but if you want any help just tell me. I used maptools in a campaign, but everytime you update the map you have to save it again and wait till it synchronizes in the web, which is not a big issue but might be if you use a big map.
Maja Weatherseed |
I think we have a pretty solid group as is, though I wouldn't object if we recruit one more.
It's still a long ways off, but Maja will probably take a level of Fighter at level 4. At that point, she will pick up Survival as a class skill, finally figure out how to use a bow, and gain heavy armor proficiency. So she would be an okay archer by then, even if not able to keep up with a full ranger.
Also, excited about getting a full-fledged hex map!
Idris of the Blade |
Outdoors skills would seem to be our biggest difficulty. I would suggest recruiting one more, from the druid/ranger/nature-focused skilled class area. There are a lot of classes that could work. Certain rogue builds, bard builds, even alchemist or barbarian builds could work.

Seraphina Medvyed |
Yeah, with pending weather events and a LOT of exploring unknown wilderness, I agree we need a skilled survivalist of some kind. =/
Red Ramage |
Tossed links for the world map, encounter map, and the sexy, sexy loot table into my profile fields, for easy access. I'll add them to the campaign tab when I have access. World map is a placeholder I hacked together in ten seconds. Finals are next week, until I have some free time a placeholder will have to do.
as far as survivalism, you don't need a battalion of druids at your beck and call. one person keeping Survival up should suffice for 1) directions 2)food gathering 3)weather forecasting/resisting. I believe it's just a DC 20 survival check to grant yourself and four others a +4 bonus on fort saves vs environmental effects.
Red Ramage |
good catch, permissions adjusted
Red Ramage |
all credit to Paizo for having gorgeous artwork that I can spray paint like a hack :)
To give you an idea of scale, this is about 1/3 of one of four maps available to this AP.
