Here are the first bits of fluff to accompany Maerar, my Pixie Oracle/Mesmerist

Homeworld - Lali Mati:
No one knows what the world was originally named but now it's only known as Lali Mati. In ages past, when it still had it's old name, the world was a natural paradise. Wildlife was abundant and the only intelligent life were the fey and the occasional animal or tree that had awakened after it reached an exceptionally old age. Sure, there was death and predation but that is life.

It wasn't meant to last however as eventually the Dwimmerlaik invaded the formerly peaceful world. Initially the inhabitants resisted but those that did were either killed or captured and turned into hideous abominations that were then set loose upon the world to cause as much pain and destruction as possible. Eventually this forced the world's inhabitants into hiding and while the Dwimmerlaik initially hunted the remaining inhabitants they eventually stopped, no longer caring as long as they weren't opposed.

For hundreds if not thousands of years the original inhabitants of the world hid underground in sprawling cavern complexes, the only light and sustenance coming from strange phosphorescent fungi. There the inhabitants either changed or perished, unable to cope with the changed circumstances. The souls of the dead however remained with the living, unable to pass on for reasons they did not know. Some stayed with their living kin but others, turned mad by their passing, fled to the surface.

When after many ages the living inhabitants dared to move to the surface again they found themselves in a world that changed dramatically from what it had once been. Where there were once stood lush, green forests now stood rows upon rows of petrified trees and the vibrant swamps had turned into stagnant, polluted bogs. The few creatures that remained alive out here had become hardened, aggressive and wary, continuously searching for new food and evading predators.

They also found the Dwimmerlaik had erected several black citadels but the Dwimmerlaik themselves seemed to have vanished. What moved in instead wasn't much better though as several clans of Kytons had now taken up residence in the black spires of the citadels. There they conducted experiments on the local wild life and the maddened souls of the dead, strangely intrigued by their inability to move on to the afterlife. Curious about these strange creatures coming from within the earth the Kytons started launching raids into the cavern complexes to capture more fodder for their experiments while the fey attacked the spire to once more liberate their kin and the souls of the lost. The many casualties on both sides only caused an increase in the number of souls stuck within death and afterlife as none seemed able to pass on.

These days an unstable truce exists between the fey and the kytons where both decided to stick to their own areas in the world. While both occasionally send parties into the wilds of the world's surface to find lost souls the truce holds, at least for now.

Attuned World - M'Tau:

M'Tau is a world with a fairly stable, warm climate that consists of vast oceans dotted by hundreds if of isles ranging from tiny atolls to immense islands large enough to be considered small continents. Living on these isles are at least as many tribes of all kinds of different humanoids, from dragon ruled kobolds to an empire of couatl worshipping humans and elves. War is one of the few constants in the ever changing world and peace treaties never last longer than a few generations.

The one exception to this all is an isle called the Centre of the World. This massive island was formed untold ages ago as a long dead volcano rose above the sea. Now the only truly peaceful and quiet place on the world is covered by a dense forest though many paths lead from the coast to the interior of the isle. There, in the middle of the caldera lives the oldest inhabitant of M'Tau, known to it's inhabitants only as Mama M'Tau. This mountain of a woman descends from a group of humanoids that lived on M'Tau ages ago but have long gone extinct, with the sole exception of Mama herself. None know how old she is but all respect her, even the haughty dragons bow down in her presence even though she herself does not mind. All are welcome to listen to her as long as they keep the peace and they do. If at all possible warlords come to her at the onset of large scale battles or wars, hoping to glance information from her cryptic visions and prophecies.

Notable NPCs:

The first three

Laerar Maerar's father, named according to the odd naming convention among the Pixies Laerar was the son of Kaerar who was the son of Jaerar. Part of the council of Elders that rule the Fey on Lali Mati and the fey responsible for brokering the peace with the Kytons.

Terekh Zar Kyton demagogue and the one responsible for brokering the peace on their end. Heavily scarred by acid spores from one of the fungi guarding the underground passages. Firm believer that the kytons are the descendants of the Dwimmerlaik.

Mama M'Tau Prophetic giantess of unknown kind. Unknown to all but herself she is a former Gossamer lord who gave up her power over the Grand Stair in order to safeguard her world from the Dwimmerlaik.

Decided on Occultist, which will allow a decent amount of versatility and flexibility in terms of what I can bring to the table. Total bummer that the new and updated version won't release for awhile yet.

Also, spoke to the GM and I'll likely be leaving one half of my gestalt open for right now, in case something awesome is in the Pact Magic Unbound book.

Mechanically it doesn't really matter if I miss the targeted square or not. I simply target the sun, or moon, or whatever and hurl. If I miss the targeted square (which I will) then they still have reached whatever height I designated.

As for it being absurd. EVERYTHING it absurd once you hit mythic tiers. I also did check in with the GM about limit;less range + body bludgeon being to much and he gave me the go ahead.

Hotaru of the Society wrote:
Here's my breakdown of obitu:

Obitu are specifically described as being "undead." I would call them undead type plus "Positive energy affinity" (the same point cost as "Negative energy affinity"), with Negative Energy Resistance tacked on after that, which I think puts them at a significant point cost.

@Wodin—Holy Creature seems like about the same power as Advanced, but flavored like Celestial (which it still is a lot more powerful than, as far as I can tell). But if you're not a normal member of your race—nobody is at this point, and the extra RP make a means of achieving that for people who want to keep full levels.

@Lessah: But, and this is a big but, if we included physics as part of our rationale within DnD that would mean that arrows and the like fired with that power significantly further than intended would be effectively instantly destroyed. It's about acceleration, and going from 0 to *onomatopoeia* in 0 seconds is going to end very badly for any given object, even excluding drag (which, ostensibly, is what's happening). In short, the creature's entrails would become their extrails in quite short order were we using science... and the distance they travel would not be really all the necessary, only the force. :)

Buuut, this is detracting at this point, I think XD As fun as it is. (and don't let me kill your fun!)

@Thunderbeard: I really don't think that's the intent, though. While they -were- undead, they obviously lose several of the base immunities... as an example, they have poison resistance, disease resistance, positive affinity, negative energy resistance, darkvision... etc. They do a lot of callouts to make them undead-lite, rather than true undead. So that doesn't -feel- like the intent.

Cuan, that's a good question. I would think either Archmage or the Psionic one that is coming out would fit thematically and power-wise.

Hotaru, if I recall correctly from the book, Obitu are true living creatures who just happen to have been spawned from an undead. So no undead type, especially since they could then contract their own virus!

Wodin, Holy seems much like Advanced Creature, so assume 2 sides of the gestalt are taken by it.

Lessah, wow, you put some physics into that explanation! Might I ask what you majored in?

Well... Obitu are created from undead, and nowhere does it say that their type changes... so maybe they are living but still undead?

The arrow velocity of a pro archer with modern bows maxes out around 400 feet/second, or 1/2 mile per round. The Escape Velocity of the Earth is approximately 8,000 feet/second, or around 20 times that. Since kinetic energy scares with velocity squared, the launch speed needed to throw someone out of the atmosphere is approximately the launch speed needed to fire an arrow that does ~400d8 damage. (And the person is a lot heavier than the arrow).

In fact, the terminal velocity of a falling person is around 160 ft/s. If a falling person can take up to 20d6 damage, this implies throwing someone out of the atmosphere is the equivalent force of 50,000d6 falling damage. I'm not saying it can't be done, but I am saying I think it should take more than a single mythic rank (especially since there was a spell that did roughly that in 3.5, and it required a dozen or two epic levels to cast)

Eh, speaking more from a GM standpoint I'd rule it's fine given the general absurdity of things in general, but don't expect your victim to reach the sun in the time it takes to make the throw. It's not instant teleportation, just a really good throw backed by magic, so velocity is limited even if your ability sends them to the moon. So time to react and save themselves if possible. Still, good enough to buy a round if you don't hurl them into something more dangerous than merely far away. And plenty lethal to anything unable to stop themselves in some way.

Shadow Lodge

true the thought of the obitu being undead dosent seem right, mostly cause they eat and breath and bleed like a living creature, and unfortuannly i fell asleep last night a bit earlyer then i wanted so fluff and most of the crunch should be up today lol and once things are cleared up for the obitu then the full crunch will be done

TarkXT wrote:

How, exactly? It's an instant kill against anything that doesn't have a flight speed or teleportation ability.

Yeah, can't bring myself to give up 7th level powers. I'll stick what what I've got. :D

GM Merchant this sounds super awesome and I just noticed it.

I have a rather grand Idea and have some questions pertaining to it.

First my idea starts with a world obsessed with the duality. I have a whole backstory thought up that basically starts with an eidolon dragon and an Umbral dragon and their resulting children and half dragon children being stuck in a war for total control of the world for thousands of years.

My character would start as a true attempt at peace, the son of the Umbral King and Eidolon Queen, spending alternating years in each kingdom while a truce was in place.

Until his sixteenth birthday, when at his coronation, on the fortress built on the ancestral front line of the Great War, the world's first Door appeared. And the new young king went in and became a Gossamer Lord.

I will write more in depth stuff eventually. This is basic concept for now.

So I was wondering if templates were available by using levels on a side of your gestalt akin to the using monster races rule.

I would want this character to be almost a split being. Mechanically Half-dragon(Eidolon)we could work on what this means and create a template or just use gold dragon Monk || Half Umbral Dragon, Bloodrager?something chaotic open to suggestions

Also I was wondering if that would allow me to take a second Path basically having both Eidolon and Umbral Mastery. Perhaps costing a feat?

And you think that is uncommon in a level 13 mythic gestalt game?

I mean given everything presented, plus the stuff yet to be and merely hinted at I'd throw the book out entirely in terms of what is considered a normal encounter.

Decided to keep her a sorceror, the arcanist just didn't feel right.

If i used a cracked Ioun stone would I still get the bonuses listed here if i used a wayfinder or would I have to buy an unbroken one?

Is it possible to get fast healing as a racial ability and if so how much RP would that cost?

Ok ran out of space on one PC sheet, so made two, AI Aanna One [Crunch] and Aannra 127-b5, the latter holds her back ground and fluff stuff.

I know your able to acquire fast healing with rp. I don't have the link or number off hand. I want to say it's 6?

Race Builder wrote:
Fast Healing (6 RP): Prerequisites: None; Benefit: Members of this race regain 1 hit point each round. Except for where noted here, fast healing is just like natural healing. Fast healing does not restore hit points lost from starvation, thirst, or suffocation, nor does it allow a creature to regrow lost body parts. Fast healing continues to function (even at negative hit points) until a member of this race dies, at which point the effects of fast healing immediately end. Special: This trait can be taken multiple times. Each time fast healing is taken, its cost increases by 1 RP.

Additional Fluff: Spark:

Sometimes something great happens, something cataclysmic, something catastrophic... but that isn't really necessary to make a hero. Sometimes it's an artifact, sometimes it's heredity, sometimes it's constant training pushed to its inevitable conclusion that gives rise to a person's spark.

But sometimes it's just raw imagination.

I hear in my mind
All these voices
I hear in my mind all these words
I hear in my mind all this music

Mora 'Fable' Clark was just a Felician. Nothing particularly special about her. A limited attention span, even amongst other Felician children. She was behind in basically everything in her Kender. Last place in everything, really. But that's because her mind was alive with so many things, so many possibilities. But she was still behind in everything.

Of course it is happening inside your head, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?

At least in the first Kender. Then came the writing. Letter after letter after letter. Certainly, she was terrible at everything else... but once she learned the letters, much more quickly than the others, she learned to read... and to write. Leaps and bounds occurred. When she was reading, she could absorb entire worlds, entire realities. She was never on-assignment, but she quickly became a prodigy as she discovered the world around her, all around her.

A room without books is like a body without a soul

During her third Kender, she began to write during her spare time. She had far too much imagination, and not enough ways to spend it. She wasn't nearly as active, and wasn't particularly popular, as she spent so much time reading and writing, but it didn't matter overmuch to her. She did much better in Kender, because it became apparent, the better she did, the more time she had for things she enjoyed.

Society's acceptance is a prison disguised as a paradise.

During her fourth and final Kender, she discovered publishing... she spent three full years writing a collection of short stories from the voices, words, and songs that rang out in her mind. It was published before her graduation. She decided that she didn't need a Fifth Kender for specialization.

Everyone is a genius. But if you judge a fish on its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.

Over the next several years, the Felician woman's mind swarmed with ideas and concepts, eventually she wound up writing three individual books at once. Her relationships suffered dearly, but entire worlds and lives hung in the balance. And the real world wasn't nearly so interesting as her fantasy worlds.

Be the change you wish to see in the world

It was during her final book that things became problematic. The story wasn't flowing as she thought it should... but trying to tame the beast was impossible. Trying to divert it from the inevitable course that it was following just left her with painful headaches. But she didn't want everything to end badly... so she did what every writer knows you shouldn't. Deus ex Machina. She wrote herself into the story.

So if I leave my grin behind, remind me, we're all mad here, and it's okay.

That's not even getting into the amount of fire damage they'd probably take based on air compression/friction generating massive amounts of heat if they go that fast, or (piercing? slashing?) damage they'd take as a result of particulates in the air cutting them to ribbons.

Thank you for the fast healing posts

also sorry i missed your message before but yes the names are based on darksouls, i like a lot of the names they use

I'm going to play Aannra as a true high level AI, I have her core back ground in place now with fluff, going to add images and more writing as and when I get it done. But the core ideas are there.

I fully understand that tech will be hard for her to find if not near impossible. Her world of a vast space barn city, crammed full of life and tech is not the norm. My idea is she has some that she keeps well hidden because its so hard to find. She only shows it or uses it when she really has to, thats what I would like to play.

Also there are rules she lives by, simpler to the prime Directive in Star trek. No interference in the technological development of other worlds. She is not a candy shop handing out High tech to any and all, in fact the very opposite, if she sees others playing god with tech to the detriment of other beings she would feel compelled to act.

:)

2 people marked this as a favorite.

@GM: regarding the wondrous caravan i am working on, some ideas:

wondrous caravan:

Base item is a carriage/wagon, modified to have storage space and armor (portable hole perhaps)

BASIC PIECES
4000gp - to have 18 INT
4000gp - to have 18 WIS
11000gp - to have all senses 120ft and speech, telepathy, read language, read magic

TRAVEL PIECES
for interplanar travel:
11200gp - use 4th level SLA 1/day (astral caravan), make know:planes checks 2/day (take 10), need 6 successes in 12 day period)
10000gp - Fly, as spell, 30ft speed
10000gp - 10 ranks in Know Planes (to ensure success on taking 10)
4800gp - use Astral Traveler 12/day (to bring people along)

FOR FUNSIES
10000gp - Item can change shape into one other form of the same size

Total market value (half this being cost to create):
65,000gp

Pros:
- Cheapest alternative I can think of (Plane Shift 2/day costs 72,000gp on its own)

Cons:
-It is slow, taking 3 days to move from plane to plane (6 day round trip).

For another 33,600gp, I could get it to manifest Hidden Body 3/day, which would effectively hide it inside of my body.

and another 1,000 to give it Mage Hand at will, to use items inside.

Gyrfalcon here.

@GM Zoruugasz, in addition to Shattered Mirror I'd like my second discipline to be Broken Blade. I think the main way to do that is with a Martial Tradition, but I don't see a published tradition for Broken Blade. I think it being a fighting style of the guardians of the Blooming Grove makes a lot of sense. Does that work?

@ Tenro,

Do you have all the levels in Tinkerer? That caravan is a thing of beauty, even without adding to it.

If you get chosen, it might be fun for the group to toss money towards it, to make it a sort of communal roving storage vault/merchant caravan.

Thanks! I do love custom items, and I figure no Merchant of the Cosmos would be without a tricked-out Merchant Cart!

I figure later maybe we could chip in and get a Lesser Create Demiplane put on it, for truly great storage. "Bigger on the inside" indeed!

I have 6 feats left over, not sure what to do with them.

I am looking for some combat options, I will also probably take Breadth of Experience.

I'll probably take Craft Wondrous Item, and maybe Craft Arms and Armor. Maybe Craft Staff?

I've already taken all the feats for Psion and Cryptic that I both want and qualify for, so all that remains is crafting feats, knowledge feats, and combat/general feats.

Okay, I was scrolling through the templates again because I am bored, and what did I find? Solaric Creature, which seems a good bit less powerful than Holy Creature, but also seems WAY more in line with Wodin's flavor: he's blessed by the Goddess of the Sun, and I really can't imagine a way to be more fitting for the template!

@Tenro: I love a magical inter-dimensional wooden cart and fully endorse that idea.

Also I have Craft Wonderous Items already for what it's worth. You could pick up Caravan feats I think, though I've never played Jade Reagent so I have no idea how they're supposed to work.

Your going Psion and Cryptic as well, cool

Yeah, probably muuuuuch different from you. Egoist Psion prestiged into Metamorph, and Brutal Disruptor Cryptic. So use psionic energy to modify/reinforce my body, then magically punch the pattern of life outta the enemy!

Cool, yep Aannra is nothing like that, She's a thinker, [Blaster/Mega-mind]. She's a mind hacker, making an Enemy fight itself. If that dos not work she can blast the poop out of any thing that gets close.

Got a nice new image of her HERE

Nice!

Glad you think so. :) I like your caravan, cool as.

Wodin, Solaric Creature is fine.

Lucina, I thought as much. The Darkmoon Covenant was fairly awesome!

Tenro, that is a sick stall man! I am perfectly fine with you tricking that thing out, because that is AWESOME! And trust me, there will be AMPLE opportunity to trade as you journey across the various worlds. You can easily make back what you put into it, if you are shrewd.
And have you taken a look at Legendary Games' Path of the Genius? I just thought that may be good for psionicists/intellectuals.

Oneidros, there is a tradition for Broken Blade, I believe, somewhere in the playtest on these boards for Path of War Expanded.

Barrett, I forgot to mention this, but have you seen Legendary Games Path of the Stranger? It's a really good Mythic Path that is well-suited to gunslingers.

Have I missed any questions?

Would it also take both sides of the gestalt? I just can't bring myself to give up access to 7th level powers. :x

That does sound like it is right up my alley. I will probably purchase the PDF soon and check it out.

Wodin, it would take up one side of the gestalt.

Tenro, I figured so. Path of Genius should appeal to any man cultured enough to have an alligator man stirring some tea! And you know, psionics and stuff. :P I know that picture is technically depicting a Rakshasa and yes, I know what adventure it's from, which happens to be one of my favorite Paizo modules!

Crunch, sans gear, is up on the profile. I have the fluff written in my notebook, and will be typing in up in the next few hours.

I need clearance to use Finesse with Katana.

This is Phoenix's Character.

Alright. Definitely doing it, then. I need to be GLORIOUSLY INCANDESCENT.

Ah, I am unfamiliar with the module, I just really liked the picture. I also really like Rakshasa, but the good ones are out of reach for level 13.

I'm very sad I missed this when it first came up. Don't suppose there's still room for contenders?

I saw this and had the sudden urge to make Path of War Stalker combined with a Soulknife (Deadly Fist, maybe). The plot to this game sounds way interesting.

I kinda want to do a revamped version of a character I made for a one-shot. He was a Sky-Priest, one of the snake people from Triaxus, Golarion's sister planet. If you don't mind he could have the plot of that in his backstory (we were level 9, and had finished a plot involving Lovecraftian themes. And Madness Followed, I believe it was called).

Yeah, the recruitment is open till Saturday/Sunday.

Join in!

Here's the alias. It has the Race Point breakdown of the race in it.

The fluff is that basically his race are serpentine peoples that live on the mountain, and have "Divine magic in their blood". Not much more is known about them, as far as I know. This particular character favors the worship of Desna over the usual Gozreh, and so is more of a world walker. It would not be out of character for him to, once powerful enough, travel to another plane or planet.

I'll get started on Crunch and an updated Fluff (he's got to have been doing SOMETHING in the meantime to make it from 9th level to 12th level Gestalt and Mythic).

Genjo, clearance allowed!

Tenro:
The module is called 'The Harrowing'.

Rynjin, feel free to roll one up, so to speak! I will probably close the thread on Sunday or, possibly, Monday.

Aghhhhh, Sunday is so far away!

Also, so I'm clear, the most recent guidelines are simply what's listed in the OP, plus the change that we get 140k gp?

Also, I'm very sad that Multiple Throw Mind Blade requires 14th level. So, no Soulknife.

Rynjin, you are correct on the character creation guidelines.
