DM Omen |
As I said, you take 8 damage from the whirlwind the last round. This round you will be enlarged, and since you need to be a smaller size category than the Archon for him to pick you up than you will escape the whirlwind (although he could still pass over you and damage you). So yes, this round you will be free to act.
Kharn the Binder *Cleaned-Up* |
Kharn drops his sword and tries to attack the soldiers next to him with a claw to each of them.
Using reckless abandon, and power attack on this round so Kharn's AC is now 13 for this round.

DM Omen |
Vlad steps forward to cut at Donnagin, but the cleric raises his shield and manages to deflect the blow sideways. Eryan manages to hold his focus and sneak a tendril of rage in the Archon's mind. Kharn grievously injures one of the soldiers, then rips out the heart of the other. Argan escapes the wind and runs over, finishing the job off on the injured soldier by a shop to the side of the neck, then pulling the blade free sideways.
Donnagin's spiritual weapon continues to be ineffective. Donnagin steps back again, pointing a finger at Vlad that seems to have little effect, although the dhampir feels a bit warm. The last soldier bounces another attack off of Vlad's armor, then the whirlwind of outsider continues it's rampage, this time going for the last soldier! The soldiers gets picked up into the rampage of light and wind.

Kharn the Binder *Cleaned-Up* |
Can Kharn attack a whirlwind creature or no?
Kharn the Binder *Cleaned-Up* |
Okay I'm assuming that the creature is in the [J,9]/[J,10] squares to get the solider so Kharn can 5 ft. step to attack it.
Kharn picks up his greatsword and slides next to the whirlwind currently holding the oracle and solider. He then tries to bring down his sword on what looks to be the most vulnerable part of the creature.
Attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24

DM Omen |
Vlad steps up to the elusive cleric, this time managing to land a blow. Eryan tries to attack the other victim of the whirlwind but finds no purchase in the man's armor. Argan runs up quickly, helping finish off another kill as he sets his blade onto Donnagin's throat and slashes it sideways. The cleric goes wide eyed and puts a hand on his throat, falling to the ground gurgling blood. Kharn cuts more of the Archon loose, but it appears only marginally injured.
The Archon whirlwind spits out the soldier harmlessly, then flies straight up into the air, ending it's whirlwind with Eryan 100 ft. in the air! It fires two rays at the falling oracle, trying to punish him before even landing. The two rays connect, knocking the oracle into unconsciousness. Meanwhile the soldier falls to his knees and begs for his life.

I forgot to roll the damage for Eryan in the whirlwind last round. Eryan has accumulated 39 points of damage so he is unconscious and bleeding to death. I'm not aware of any RAW for catching falling characters (I did a thorough google search) so if you guys can find anything of note let me know. Otherwise this is certain to kill Eryan.

Kharn the Binder *Cleaned-Up* |
Quite easy. When Eryan begins to fall he as an immediate action uses his featherfall special ability. This interrupts the archon's two rays so even though they send him into unconsciousness he is already floating onto the ground softy. Also I don't think the archon gets two rays since it used its move action to fly into the air 100 ft.
Vladamir Orlovsky |
Feather Fall is an Immediate action so he's good in that instance.. I also agree moving would negate the Archons full attack so only 1 ray.. Eryan might still be conscious, regardless we can catch him and move on.. The archon cant be gestalt for much longer and its components will mostly die when it comes apart..
Getting a moment of respite Vlad backs up 5' and pulls a potion and drinks it.. Inflict mod
2d8 + 3 ⇒ (6, 7) + 3 = 16
"We must move to the gatehouse before we are overrun.. Kharn, Argan, finish that begging whelp and lets move on.. Ill get Eryan.." After drinking the pot Vlad will move to pick Eryan up, preparing to cross the bridge next..
Also feel free to just ignore the guard since he's surrendered and we're pressed for time..
Argan Midnight |
"All yours Kharn!" Argan points out the remaining guard, since he cannot be allowed to live. "And pick up Donnagin, willya?!"
My actions will depend on whether Eryan can use his Feather Fall or not. If he can, I'll let him be and do something else. Otherwise me and my 10 feet tall body will try to catch him, whatever means are needed.
If I'm not needed, I'll drink a CMW potion and try the freaking Fireball wand to delay our enemies.
CMW: 2d8 + 3 ⇒ (5, 3) + 3 = 11
UMD: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (20) + 10 = 30 Feel free to reroll this if you think I'm cheating too much.

Eryan Duskwalker |
Assuming it only gets 1 ray attack after moving, I think I am conscious. Otherwise I'm probably totally dead. 10d6 fall damage :(
Eryan would use his last featherfall cmon level 5! lol immediately on being dropped and turns invisible letting him land safely. He then moves towards the others and says in infernal, "Let's go."
Argan Midnight |
So argan takes the potion and tries to use the wand. Will you kill the guard and drag Donnagin's body, Kharn?
Kharn the Binder *Cleaned-Up* |
Kharn slices the guardsman apart and then picks up donnigan's corpse to carry it around.
DM Omen |
Just as Eryan begins dropping he casts feather fall on himself and landing safely. Kharn finishes the begging soldier and grabs Donnagin's corpse, then the party starts moving towards the east away from the swarm of soldiers gaining altitude to attack them. On the open stretch the Archon continues to harass the party from the sky, shooting two bolts at Kharn.

The enlarged Argan calls out for the obvious.
"We need to start healing!"
Show me those Cleave feats folks!
Glad to have you back. Can we escape without signaling the rocket, folks, or do you want to set it off already? We don't have many ways to escape with this many after behind us... I have only one reduce person potion to get out through the river...
Did I manage to send the fireball?
Eryan Duskwalker |
Do we have a CLW wand? I have an infernal healing, which is slow but could be fine if we can blockade a door or something. I have only a few spells left.
Vladamir Orlovsky |
Guys if we leave now there will be no getting back in.. We've used up to many of our resources getting this far.. I had kinda hoped to barricade this doorway and lift the drawbridge.. If Argan can keep that wand working on our followers we can still get this done, however we need to kill these guards fast.. I just hope not everyone is level 3 like Donnigan's escort..
"We must send off the flare and get the gate up.. We must barricade this door.."
If Argan can kep fireballing the chaser's and we can get the drawbridge up we can basically cut off the castle from this building.. We really got burned by Donnigan's Invis Purge.. That was ether dumb luck or Evil DMness..
Argan Midnight |
Fireball!!!: 7d6 ⇒ (6, 2, 5, 5, 3, 5, 3) = 29 Down to 7 charges.
Seriously, we can get inside this castle anytime we want. Specially through the vault. I do believe we can still use poison/silent kills at night/food stealing/gate weakening tactics, that after we spoil the siege weapons on the roof of the gatehouse. If we come back tomorrow morning, they will probably have spent the whole night awake and counting the losses, so a part of them will be fatigued, even easier for us. Plus, we still do not know what happened to Goodie. She has a part of our resources and Argan will not let her desert our cause, since she's definitely not arrested/dead.
The castle is weakened enough to allow the hobgoblins to take over it with some losses, but they are probably not very ready yet (day 8 yet) and we have more time to do more damage, maybe even to take this freaking castle alone now that they are leaderless and the shadows are our allies. So I would like to keeping pushing their defenses further, specially since we have more gold and experience to gain, but we have a problem with getting out of here (our best bet is probably the river), and I'll understand if you want to finish this chapter now and move to the next.
Don't forget we are in combat, finish this folks while we discuss the subject.

Inflict Mod Pot: 2d8 + 3 ⇒ (2, 4) + 3 = 9
Afterwhich he will start dragging the dead men's bodies over the trapdoors leading to the first level.. 2 a piece with armor should prevent them from being opened.. At least fast anyways.. "Argan, start dragging a body to cover that other trapdoor!"
Argan Midnight |
"Negative!" - replies Argan in an authoritarian tone. "Up the stairs before they seal it!"
Mostly, what is going to come out of the first floor trap doors are a couple guards. Nothing to worry about now.
Argan will quickly burst the trapdoor North of the room open, allowing Vlad and the others to climb it since he is still enlarged and unable to climb them for now. Are they strong enough for my heavy body to climb? How much time has passed since I drank that potion, please?
Argan Midnight |
If that's the case I'll just guarantee it is open and wait for them to move through, staying behind to search Donnagin's body and eventually kill whoever comes out of the door or trapdoors leading down.
Do anyone have Alchemist's fire I could use?
Vladamir Orlovsky |
Ive got a nice assortment of alchemical goodies, but i think you underestimate the trapdoors to the first floor.. As of now thats the best way for the rest of the castle to get in here.. Ill move to the roof with Kharn, but you should at least cover one on the trap doors with dead bodies..
Almost as if he read his mind Vlad pulls out a few alchemical goodies and hands them to Argan before he makes his way to the 3rd floor.. He also drinks his protection from arrows potion before climbing.. Forget his action of moving bodies.. Drinking heal pot and Pro arrow pots, coupled with move action to retrieve items should be 2 rounds.. 3rd round ill be climbing..
He'll hand you 2 alchy fires, 2 liquid ice, and 2 tanglefoot bags..
Eryan Duskwalker |
Eryan tags Vlad and finally himself not sure what my hp is atm then he helps block the trapdoor with the dead. "What about him?" meaning the man who surrendered.

Vladamir Orlovsky |
I posted my actions.. Drank 2 potions and headed to the 3rd floor.. Kharn was supposed to be coming with.. Argan was gonna stay and deal with the trapdoors to 1st level..
