[lol!]next time use an axe![/lol!]
Indeed I get +30 with the Invi potion, so I just can't fail, or can I? Stealth: 1d20 + 10 + 20 ⇒ (12) + 10 + 20 = 42
Argan coordinates his action with the others and also cuts the throat of an unfortunate soldier, stepping aside to hit another one right after it and doing the same.
Thinking about it, I'm not sure I can coup de grace in the surprise round (since it's a full round), but it makes all the sense to do it, so...
Damage to fellow 1 (surprise): 2d8 + 10 + 2d6 ⇒ (3, 4) + 10 + (2, 6) = 25
Damage to fellow 2 (round 1): 2d8 + 10 + 2d6 ⇒ (4, 1) + 10 + (3, 6) = 24
Eryan Duskwalker |
my only weapon is mace so...
Round 1 FIGHT!
Eryan swings his mace repeatedly at the head of the one he is standing over.

Kharn the Binder *Cleaned-Up* |
Round 1
Kharn charges the ranger nearest the horses.

Crit confirmation: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (5) + 13 = 18
Crit damage: 2d6 + 15 ⇒ (2, 5) + 15 = 22
AC 13 Touch 9 FF 10; 73/73 HP; 13/14 rounds of rage left.
Vladamir Orlovsky |
You can certainly perform coup de grace's on a sleeping foe.. It states they must be helpless, which they are, and you provoke, which you would except your invis so..
Argan Midnight |
And that they are flat-footed and all, but still, the screams from their fellows might wake them up, being flat-footed but not helpless...
Vladamir Orlovsky |
What i meant was the first 4 have no opportunity to become not helpless.. After that yea no more coup de grace's
DM Omen |
Argan dispatches two men back to back with two quick thrusts of his blades. Eryan leaves a pair of bruises on a ranger who seems hurt but still alive and well. Kharn charges and smashes another one to the ground is a brutal display, then just for good measure he plants his weapon in the body again (crit damage completely un-needed for a 1 shot lol).
"Back to the fort!" Cries one of the rangers. Of the six that remain standing, four of them make a mad dash for the horses. The one that Eryan is beating on swings back, but misses badly. Another pulls out an arrow and a piece of flint, then lights a rag wrapped around the arrowhead and stands, notching the arrow.
Vlad and Kharn both get to take an AoO as the soldiers pass them. I'm assuming you'll one-shot them, so unless you roll under a 17 to hit you probably killed your target. Regardless, two of the rangers made it past and are currently 50 feet away on their horses (mounted quickly with a DC 20 ride check).

Argan Midnight |
Cowards! We're messing up with a lot of things recently, right?
Although it is important to follow the fleeing rangers, the arrow is certainly a signal, and thus Argan moves to the man holding the bow and attacks him, trying to kill it before the situation gets worse.
Sabre!: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24! Damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
Vladamir Orlovsky |
So they untied the horses, mounted, and then got 50' away in 6 secs? How i hope someone kills the lit arrow guy before he does whats he gonna do..
Vladamir Orlovsky |
Vlad swings at the man as he goes by..
Attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17
Damage: 2d6 + 15 ⇒ (4, 3) + 15 = 22
On his turn he drops his sword and pulls his crossbow and takes aim at one of the fleeing horseman.. Activating Smite Good..

Round 2
Kharn charges one of the men who got onto his horse.

Super Heavily Overpowered Crossbow!
I should have made a map for this...
Eryan Duskwalker |
Dangit i posted... only 2 left right? I question the amount of bravery these rangers have. 1st round they just run? lol
50ft. away? THANKYOU EXPEDITIOUS RETREAT!
Eryan chases the down the fleeing rangers and touching the horses saddle casts Murderous Command on the ranger. Fail DC 16 plz and kill your horse(or something) plz!
Vladamir Orlovsky |
There were 4 left after the ambush and AoO's.. 1 was cut down by Argan, the other lit an arrow and prepared to do something with it.. Stop him plz Eryan.. Two were fleeing of which 1 was speared by my mega bolt, the other was charged and cut by Kharn.. So take take of the burning arrow guy plz Eryan.. If you can..
DM Omen |
Will: 1d20 ⇒ 18
Kharn cuts down one ranger as he passes, then runs up and puts another down off his horse. Vlad also hits on in passing, then hits the other one on the horse in the back, making him pass out and fall off his horse. Argan charges the one with the flaming arrow, sticking a sabre into the man's flesh and making him gasp...but with blood trickling from his lips he releases the arrow into the sky. He gives a small, sad smile, passing out from the effort.
Damn shame, got him right at 0 hp. Yeah it's funny, their first thing to do when attacked is notify the castle.
Combat over, all of the men are dead or dying. With some heal checks you can find 3 of them haven't quite bled out yet.
Vladamir Orlovsky |
So the flame arrow was a signal they were being attacked? We traveled a full day right? Seems it would take much more fire than a flaming arrow to be seen from that far away..
"Gather what can be taken quickly.. If that arrow was a signal we need to be on the move fast!" Running up to the captain he'll gather all his gear qucikly and put it on his horse.. He'll strip the man down to make sure he's not hiding anything on his person before leaving..
Argan Midnight |
Now we set up an ambush for the ones who are coming after them? Or do we enjoy the partial lack of soldiers to kill those in room #9?
Vladamir Orlovsky |
I'll take the shield for later if noone minds..
"There's no telling how many they will send.. Could be 5, could be 20.. I say we get back and ready our assault on the castle.. Although since we have a little time perhaps we should try to hide these bodies?"
Eryan Duskwalker |
"Well, I'll take that thank you good ranger." Eryan retrieves Varning's key. "I wonder what he keeps locked up hmm?" He helps remove the traces of the bodies.
Argan Midnight |
Just to make sure, are all of them dead including the sentinels?
Argan looks up, trying to see the arrow. "We're pretty lousy anyway. I don't think it will matter much."
Kharn the Binder *Cleaned-Up* |
Kharn walks over to one of the still living rangers.
"Not this guy."
Then Kharn kills that ranger with his greatsword.
"So do we leave now, or do we leave a message? I was thinking something along the lines of 'You have failed Mitra prepare to be punished', or something like that?"
Vladamir Orlovsky |
Taking his que Vlad pics up one the remaining living guards by the throat and drinks his blood tills his heart stops beating.. Throwing the body aside.. "I think it would be best if we hide the bodies.. Wish we had some dead orcs.. Could stage an ambush.. Oh well.."
Eryan Duskwalker |
"I can heal one if you want. Perhaps he knows some things that may be useful for us to know about Balentyne. If nothing, well we drive a dagger through his heart and bury him with the rest."
Argan Midnight |
"First, are you sure they are all here, Eryan? One could have ran away unnoticed... Then yes, let's wake one up and do some questioning. Goodie must be worried by now."
Eryan Duskwalker |
"They are all accounted for yes? Or have you forgotten how to count?" he smiles then finds one that still has life in him and after restraining him with rope, heals him. "Perhaps someone might gather the horses. We could keep them somewhere nearby Balentyne and use them if need be."
Argan Midnight |
The party stabilizes one of the three man and wake him up after a couple of minutes to do some questioning. I'll buy some smelling salts later.
"Hey, hey, brother! Welcome back to the world of the living! We're gonna play a little game here. We ask questions, you answer them, and no one will suffer! Deal?"
Argan Midnight |
Argan makes a bored face. "That again! Good lord," - he looks at the sky - "how blind can they be? So I guess you don't want the deal, right? One way or another you will spit what we want to know. Up to the suffering, then?"
Feels like burning some flesh pyromancer?
Kharn the Binder *Cleaned-Up* |
Kharn walks over and begins taking trophies from the dead rangers.
"I claim this kill, and this one, and this one, and this one." Kharn stops at the captain. "I definitely claim this one."
Vladamir Orlovsky |
Vlad walks over to the ranger and lifts him off the ground by his throat.. Baring his fangs he twists the boys head till he see's the one he fed on.. "Do you see what I did to the boy there? In mere hours he will rise as my vampiric thrall ready to serve for all time.. His first order will be to slaughter his family and loved ones so no one will come looking for him! Is this the fate you want as well? Now answer my associates questions or by tomorrow night you will be feasting on yor loved ones!!"
Bluff: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (16) + 12 = 28
Intimidate: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26
Man am I gonna be a naughty vampire..
Argan Midnight |
"Thanks" - Argan replies to the wanna-be-vampire, telling obvious lies that the guy did not understand - "Now now, what did you discover and tell Havelyn on the lookout you all did last week?"
Summarizing my questions to speed it up
"Do you really expect someone from the castle to see that arrow? Or is your party being followed?"
Argan will, of course, scan the man to guarantee he is not lying.
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21
DM Omen |
"No-nothing happened on the last ranging. Reported some animal movements for hunting, th-that's it." He looks over at the dead man who shot the arrow. "So he did get the arrow off..." He grows quiet, eyes unfocused.
Argan Midnight |
Argan motions for the others to remain still, and he closes his eyes to focus on the sounds. If there were more horses coming their way he would certainly hear it at this dead time in the night.
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26
If he doesn't hear anything out of the ordinary he will ask the others, just to make sure. "I don't hear anything, do you?"
