Argan Midnight |
After securing the contents of the lockbox (or in case it does not open he will either carry it with everything or pick the lock in case it's too heavy) Argan follows the others to the upper room.
Marching Order: Argan comes second, so he would not be the first to receive the damage but would still be able to move behind the enemies.
Vladamir Orlovsky |
Vlad will wait till they head up the stairs and drink another shield of faith and a shield pot.. "If we get up here any he has cronies, which im sure he will, I'll go after them.. Kharn and Argan yall take Havelyn.."

Argan whispers while pointing to the southern door. "That is the guest's room!" He will approach and stealthily peek through the door to see if the freaking woman is there.
Stealth: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 28
Argan Midnight |
He moves back to the central room, drinks a potion of Bull's Strength, looks at the ladder to the trapdoor heading up, and nods to the others. "Ready!"
If it is closed and the ladder not moving Argan won't mention that the coward might have gone up...
Bull's Strenght - 30 rounds
Kharn the Binder *Cleaned-Up* |
Kharn will drink one more potion, and be in the front of the group to be ready to attack anybody who they meet.

I thought we were going into the other room?
Argan Midnight |
I forgot to add the protection from Good in the previous post.
Argan open the door so they can get in and kill old Havelyn. If it's locked we try to open it with Tacitus key, otherwise we kick it down. We're three very strong fellows.
Bull's Strenght - 30 rounds
Protection from Good - 8/10 remaining
DM Omen |
The party kicks down the locked double doors, entering shoulder to shoulder with Vlad and Kharn at the front. They look inside to see the room similarly vacant, but then the door in the room is flung open and Havelyn steps forth, clad in his shining full plate. Two guards accompany him, one of them finishing the final clasp on Havelyn's armor before standing to face the party with blade drawn.
Havelyn is a beacon of good, his sword literally shining. His very presence has always been unsettling to the party, but right now he practically curdles your blood. He raises the shimmering longsword, then cries out "Laydown your arms lest you further endanger your lives and your very souls with this villainy!"

Kharn then moves forward and attacks the good captain with his greatsword.

I assumed adequate lighting. Nothing was said abput dim light in the other fight. Which would have given some miss chances maybe. Guess i could do something else. Or ill delay, you guys attack. I cast darkness. They miss. You delay. I dismiss darkness. Kgo?
DM Omen |
Argan attempts to slip behind Havelyn, but stumbled and can't make his way past the stalwart paladin. Still he finds a crack in the full plate and lets loose a flow of blood. Vlad has far less luck, trying to spin and gut the guard but his blade catches on the wall and he drops it. Kharn charges and cuts through metal and flesh, leaving a terrible wound in Havelyn's side.
Havelyn grunts, but remains standing. He places a glowing hand to his side, slightly closing the wound. "Then pay the price for your evil deeds!" He raises a glowing sword, blindly slashing into the darkness and finding Kharn. The weapon burns white hot, shredding living material far beyond what any normal sword should accomplish. He cleaves and tries to hit Argan as well, but the darkness makes his blow miss. The two guards flail about in the darkness, one of them actually manages to scratch Argan's armor.

Argan Midnight |
Argan will try again, since he's got a freaking belt just for this kind of stuff, and the stalwart paladin cannot be that agile!
Acrobatics - through square: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (13) + 14 = 27! trying for G5.
"Kharn, flank him!"
If he managed to get on the other side, he prepares for the right moment to strike again at Havelyn. (Otherwise he just strikes)
Prepare an action for when Kharn flanks with me, in case I manage to cross his square.
Sabre 1: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (10) + 12 = 22 +2 if flanking Damage: 1d8 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11 Sneak if flanking: 2d6 ⇒ (6, 1) = 7
I did not roll acrobatics because I though he didn't have much of a chance to stop me, since he was flat-footed. Weird to think the guy has no way to dodge from blows (no dex flat-footed) and to use his weapon but still can "stop me" from moving through his square. I should stop breaking the rules and just go to bed ^_^

Kharn the Binder *Cleaned-Up* |
So did Kharn's attack happen before or after the darkness?
Argan Midnight |
Before the darkness was created, and now you can attack after it's dismissed.
DM Omen |
Argan almost manages to squeeze through, but at the last moment Havelyn's eyes adjust to the light and he brings down a shining longsword on the wily rogue.
AoO: 1d20 + 18 - 3 ⇒ (16) + 18 - 3 = 31
Damage: 1d8 + 14 ⇒ (6) + 14 = 20
Argan tries to return the blow, but fails to find purchase in the tough full plate.
Kharn, through clever use of the delay action only the enemy is suffering from blindness and only for the first round.

DM Omen |
Vlad picks up his blade from the ground, then steps forward as his blade bursts in black flames. He winds up and brings the unholy terror down...and catches it on Havelyn's shield. His eyes open in shock and then anger, then he shouts "You unholy heretic! There will be no mercy given for you, spreader of evil!"
Off to class. I'll post enemy actions later. I do like how you guys saw the cleave and were intelligent enough to spread out.
DM Omen |
Havelyn straitens from Vlad's near-fatal blow, then raises up his shimmering longsword. "I call upon the power of Mitra to cleanse this evil!" His theatrics conclude with his sword bursting into white flames, similar to Vladimir's own weapon. He roars then almost quicker than the eye can follow he brings down two mighty chops on Vladimir, cutting deeply into his collarbone and a good way into his chest. The guard tries to hit Argan, but only finds more armor in his way.

Vlad is a bloody mess after the man tears into him.. It's only by a fraction that the man did not drop him.. Gritting his teeth he decides its him or the Paladin.. He will not backdown.. "Die you wretched scum of the earth!"

Argan Midnight |
I'll take a ranger level and choose paladin as my favorite targets... I believe we will defeat him, but not without suffering a lot first.... Bring us some miracle Eryan!
Kharn the Binder *Cleaned-Up* |
So was Eryan's action last round to dismiss the darkness?
DM Omen |
Argan spins, hooking a blade to the guard's foot and lifting him into the air. Then he brings down the other blade while the poor guard is still airborn, chopping him down into an early grave.
Vladimir is barely standing, but he refuses to yield and summons the last of his strength, raising his sword. Havelyn's eye gleams as he expectantly raises his sword...then Argan steps behind him. Havelyn's eyes flicker to the rogue for just a fraction of a second, but it's enough for Vladimir to change the angle of his swing, his sword burning with infernal fury as it chops down through the paladin's chest to create a sucking chest wound.
Havelyn gasps, dropping his sword and shield as he falls to his knees. He looks into his room, and following his gaze you see a painting of what must be his deceased wife. "I'm sorry..." He says, then falls down, blood pooling beneath him.
...
Staring at the body in silence, you suddenly hear the shouts of men and the clink of metal. Looking out the large windows there are torches being lit and people mobilizing, many of them pointing up at the tower the party is in.
Kharn the Binder *Cleaned-Up* |
Kharn strips the dead paladin of everything he has. Then looking at the others he picks up the body.
"I want to throw the paladin off the tower."
If no-one objects Kharn will throw the dead paladin off the tower towards the torch gathering.
Vladamir Orlovsky |
Vlad will stop Kharn.. "Don't.. I can put that armor on and use the circlet to appear as him.. If yall go invisible we can use it to get into the gate house.. Gather up everything and heal up.. If we mangle the faces of Havelyn, the Wizard and these 2 cronies i can say they were the evil doers and get most of the mob off our backs long enough to lock the gatehouse down.. Thoughts?" Ill finish my post when i get home, leaving work now..
DM Omen |
Vlad reaches down to grab the full plate...then feels his hand pulled to the metal, attaching to it firmly. The metal grows hot and begins glowing, and the party watches as the armor transforms before their eyes. It finishes, and the dark armor rests before Vladimir. It has become black, baroque armor adorned with the infernal iconography of Lord Asmodeus. It is now +1 dastard full plate. Truly, the Dark Lord of Nessus watches these deeds.
Eryan Duskwalker |
Eryan will give everyone hurt a tap of the wand and then retrieve the headband and examine it. "Tacitus and Havelyn. We are doing well so far."
He will take 10 on spellcraft and start identifying stuff.
Vladamir Orlovsky |
Indeed, we just dont need to get hasty.. Lets heal up and make our way to the gatehouse.. Well after we disable the truncheon..
Argan Midnight |
Are we counting this in rounds, minutes or something else??
"Thanks Eryan. I'll need one more in a minute."
Argan moves around the room, gathering items and checking for documents in the place. "Ok! Well done everyone! That was a close call. Your plan is a very good one Vlad. Do it. Eryan, you pass as Tacitus, while Kharn and me are going as the dead minions. From the important officers, we still need to deal with Donnagin, Zach and Barhold. The amount of soldiers was barely touched, and right now they are in full health. The arrows also are still available to them, as are the supplies on the vault and the siege weapons up front." He gets the guy and moves to the big chest where the treasure is held, opening it and collecting everything. "Kharn, break that freaking trebutchet on the roof to pieces, quickly, then come back."
"I don't think we should call the army now, let's follow Vlad's plan and weaken the castle a bit more. We may rest as soon as we get out of this place, but the soldiers will be on full alert now, until they find out what is happening. I have a plan to tire the soldiers in the morning, but first we need to get out of here. If Vlad's plan do not work we get invisible and gather at the rookery, after burning up the supplies and arrows. From there we jump to the ground and flee to come back later. Agreed?"
Argan Midnight |
"Oh, and Vlad, get your tongue ready, cause we have dead guards and Tacitus under us, but we will pretend everything here is fine, so we need to hide these bodies. They won't find the enemy so they will want to search the room. Don't let them."
Kharn the Binder *Cleaned-Up* |
Kharn makes himself look like one of the men he killed using the circlet and then he will climb up onto the top of the tower. If no-one is there he will quickly try to break the trebutchet.
