GM Wulfson |

I've been considering running another adventure path along side my current return to GM'ing PbPs with Carrion Crown, so I've decided to run the Jade Regent AP as well.
I'm looking for five players to join me on this adventure. Recruitment will end February 24th @ 6pm. CST.
The Rules:
• Races: All standard races from the Pathfinder Core Rulebook will be allowed. Any other 0HD race will be considered on a case by case basis. Unfortunately, due to it’s current playtesting status, no characters created using the Advanced Race Guide will be allowed.
• Classes: All classes (Base and Prestige) from PFRPG core rulebook plus those from the Advanced Player's Guide (APG), Ultimate Magic (UM) and Ultimate Combat (UC) will be allowed. Any Archetype for these base classes (again from the APG, UM, or UC) will be allowed.
• Alignment: Characters can be of any Good or Neutral alignment. No evil alignments will be allowed.
• Abilities: Characters will be based on the High Fantasy (20 point) buy, found in the PFRPG Core Rulebook on page 16. No ability can be raised higher than 18 (prior to racial modifiers). Only one ability may be lowered below 10 and that ability cannot be lowered below 8 (prior to racial modifiers).
• Feats: Any feat from the Core Rulebook, APG, UM, or UC will be acceptable. Any 3.5 or 3PP material you wish to use will have to be approved by me prior to acceptance.
• Traits: Character's will start with two traits, one of which MUST be from the Jade Regent’s Player's Guide.
• Hit Points: Characters will start out with Maximum hit points for their class at 1st level. Thereafter players may either roll for HP's or take the average (whichever is greater).
• Starting Gold: Characters will start with Maximum starting gold for their base class as found in the PFRPG Core Rulebook on page 140, the APG on page 26, UC on page 8, or in the UM on page 8.
Due to the possible mature themes that run throughout this AP I perfer to take a PG-13 approach to a character's romantic involvement with an NPC (i.e. What goes on behind closed doors STAYS behind closed doors).
If you have any questions feel free to post them here or PM me and I'll answer them as quickly as possible.
Thanks for your interest,
V

Parsifal Foghain |

Hi, Wulfson!
I wouldn't mind actually getting a chance to play this character who started a JR campaign which crashed almost immediately (the GM left) -- I'll need to lose a trait (most likely Failed Apprentice, though I'd not change his history) -- but other than that the character meets the creation guidelines listed above.
Basically, Parsifal is an impulsive paladin who is still trying to figure out just what it was that he was called to do (and is somewhat impatient as a result) -- who also has a spot of the hero worship (and crush) on Shalelu. More than happy to answer any questions about the character beyond that (or take any direction in terms of how he could be updated to make a better fit).

I have an idea for a Ronin Samurai for this adventure path I'd love to use.
He is essentially, a descendent of refugees from Tien. They never really say how Ameiko's family came to Sandpoint, but I figure it'd be a similar thing.
However, after his mother's death, this (still unnamed) character's father brought him up teaching him the somewhat incomplete traditions of the samurai as they had been passed down to him.
Campaign trait would be childhood crush on Ameiko, or alternatively, he could be rewritten to be her younger brother if you like.
Either way, he is headstrong, daring, protective, rather dense, and lives a patchwork code of honor he is pretty much making up as he goes along.

DeathQuaker RPG Superstar 2015 Top 8 |

I'm definitely interested; I was in the same game as Parsifal's player that crashed and burned (I've had bad luck with GMs that just up and disappear without word or warning). I may submit the same character I made for that (Ceru, gnome rogue, in my aliases) or I might create an arcane duelist bard; she would be likely human or elven and more or less native to Sandpoint. Will post more later.

GM Wulfson |

Dotted for interest. Would it be alright if I created two possible PC's and allowed you to pick your favorite or the one that best meets party needs. I'm thinking a Cleric that moves into Holy Vindicator and a Magus.
You can create as many characters as you like. Can't guarantee that any of them will make the cut though.

Also Dotting, Thinking of a Character Who is Joining the Caravan to get outa town Quick
Halfling or Half-Elf Bard or Rogue, raised in Riddleport by the Local Thieves Guild as a Pickpocket. Decided to Take a job to murder someone (I'll leave that up to you), but couldn't do it. So he skiped town with the Gold, to Sandpoint, to catch the First Caravan out of town....

Consider me interested as well, though does my interest in your Carrion Crown campaign count against me in this recruitment? I'll stay out if you want. Otherwise, I have an interest in playing a Shoanti Barbarian. I would like to play a Sklar-Quah member, but if you don't think that'll work, I can pick something else easily.

Different thread, Different AP's, Different characters. So go ahead and apply for both.

Now I got about half way through my character that the crossbow bayonet is pretty bad...then found out in a different adventure path there is a character with a crossbow with a bayonet that doesn't stop it from shooting bolts...CURSE YOU PAIZO..long story short I'll have a character by tomorrow because my first idea is much less usable.

Harold Wainright |

I would like to submit Harold Wainright, a NG Half-Elf Ranger (Infiltrator/Beastmaster) 1 for consideration :-)
Realizing the impracticality of caring for an infant herself, Shalelu handed him along to a family whom she knew she could trust, placing him in the care of a (then middle-aged) Varisian woman named Koya, who lived in the settlement of Sandpoint. Harold grew-up well-loved by his adoptive family, and formed strong-friendships with a number of the local residents; in fact, he developed a particular affinity for Ameiko, and her Half-Elven brother, unconsciously sensing that they would be more welcoming to another half-breed such as himself, despite the fact that both were a couple of years older.
However, a few years back, when Goblins attacked the town, and Ameiko's father and brother were killed (under circumstances which are still kept relatively quiet), the bonds of friendship between Ameiko and Harold were strengthened; although she went on to have a brief career as an adventurer, Harold's heart still lay with the town in which he grew-up in, and he stayed behind. He was, nonetheless, inspired and transported by the tales she wove when she returned to town, and he began to take trips of his own, short-range at first, but then further and further afield into the wilds of Varisia, exploring the wonders (and dangers) that the world held.
Harold tends to move around the countryside, doing odd-jobs at the various outlying homesteads, or undertaking scouting missions for Sherrif Hemlock. Gripped by an eternal wanderlust, he never stays in one place for long, although he always returns to Sandpoint, days, or sometimes weeks, later, to catch-up with his close friends, and to trade stories. Naturally shy, he also has a bit of a temper; slow to anger, when he does explode, the results are volcanic. This shames him a great deal, and he makes every effort to keep a lid on it, which serves to accentuate his natural shyness, something which only his close friend Ameiko, and his adoptive mother Koya, are able to penetrate with any great regularity.
Let me know what you think :-)

Terran Khaine the Cleric
Background
Khaine was raised from his youth at the monastery, the only survivor from a shipwreck that washed ashore on the island that the monastery occupies. He is somewhat aggressive and boastful, perhaps more than is appropriate for his contemplative associates. He has had the entire Litany of Pain (see below) scarred onto his torso in intricate script, the work of many weeks. He recently determined that we would journey further than any initiate ever had in search of new forms of pain and the understanding it offers. Thus, he has traveled to Sandpoint to find his destiny as far as he can go.
His armor consists of spiked chains wrapped around his arms and shoulders. On the left, a steel plate is affixed to the forearm chains (counts as buckler). The chain on the right is somewhat longer and is used as a weapon (counts as a morningstar). This arrangement leaves Khaine's muscled chest bare, revealing the Litany of Pain scarred into his chest and abdomen.

Quentin Marshall the Cowboy Magus
Background
My life begins with a story as old as the first time one fella had more stuff than another.
As long as there’d been Marshall’s in Andoren, we’d been cattlemen. Had a good herd and good grazing for ‘em. But then the revolution came and the merchants got richer and started wantin’ more, as rich men are wont to do. Eventually they turned their eyes inland and they started up buying the cattle and the land all ‘round. They’d undercut our prices and we’d have to match ‘em until we were barely survivin’. The church of Abadar was only too pleased to lend us money to get back on our feet and only too pleased to take our ranch when it turned out we couldn't.
My brothers and my pa went to work as hands on another man’s ranch. I nearly had to do the same when an old wizard came into town looking for a fella with local knowledge. He was searchin' a man that wronged him and needed someone as could tell a boot print from a hole in the ground. I’ve never been the strongest man but I’m quick and I’m smart and he took a shine to me. He was paying good silver, which had a shine to me to I took a shine to him in a way. He taught me things about the world when we rode and taught me things about magic when we camped at night. That might seem a bit odd to someone as knows wizards but the old coot was a couple head short of a full herd if you catch my meaning. I got the sense that he wasn’t always talking to me, but rather speaking to the memory of someone else.
I found that man that had wronged the old wizard and when we did, the might of this dodgy old fart was nothing short of shockin’. I knew magic was around and people did it but it’s different when you’re a young man and you see this old fella makin’ fire out of nothing and throwin’ a man fifty feet with a wave of his hand. That man died that night and it wasn't a good death but maybe a deserved one. I wasn't paid to judge, anyway.
Before he left, he gave me a spell book. It wasn’t his, I’d seen his book before and this weren’t it. This was singed by fire and leafing through it, I saw that some of the writing was obscured by water damage. It wasn’t until later that I realized the spots of water seemed suspiciously like fallen tears. I don’t know who the book belonged to but he must have been mighty important to that wizard and I’m grateful and deeply humbled by the gift. He took his leave of me that night and as I rode home I realized that huntin’ men who’d done wrong was a job that needed doin’ and a job I could do.
I started huntin’ bounties after that. Like I said, I ain’t the strongest man but the old man’s magic gave me the leg up I needed. You’d be surprised how many men that thinks themselves hard go weak in the knees when faced with a bit of magic, even the simple stuff. It wasn’t long before my skills got noticed and merchants started paying me to help take their caravans down to Riverford where the barges would take it down to Almas. I was real happy to be able to take some of their money back for my family and I always made sure to make them pay as dearly as they would for my services. Besides, I often had to go down to the coast anyway for more bounties. *chuckles*
So you’re something of a lawman, then?
*Spits* Hell, no. Man breaks the law, it ain’t none of my business. Not until someone pays me to make it my business. That’s how a business works.
I see. Do you always bring in your bounties alive?
When they let me, mostly. Some men don’t deserve the luxury of a quick hangin’. They done stuff too bad. Sometimes, the people that’s wronged slip me some extra money to make sure they don’t come back alive. I take it, of course. Like I said, this is a business and I don’t judge.
I never bring a remount for my bounty so if they don’t have a horse, or it dies or runs off in the takin’ of my quarry, well, winters in Andoren can get mighty cold and the idea of walkin’ some bastard back doesn’t always sit well with me in intemperate weather. Way I see it, it’s his own damn fault for getting taken in the winter. Unless, of course, the bounty is only for bringin’ ‘em in breathin’. Man needs to make a livin’. I do my best to avoid those, though. Damned inconvenience.
So what sort of man are you then, Mr. Marshall? You care about your family enough to choose a hard life pursuing hard men but you have no qualms about killing them if they’re inconvenient.
I don’t know, I guess I’m complicated. Or perhaps conflicted, though conflicted implies a certain self evaluation of the morality of one’s actions, which I tend to lack. I guess I’m whatever I need to be to get the job done.
But isn’t everyone, when it comes down to it? A whore’s got to be blasé about sex ‘cause if she isn’t it might tear her up inside, in her soul I mean, not in a literal sense. A priest of the Sun Goddess Saren-whatsit got to be good an’ generous so as to show us an example. A priest of Abadar’s got to be a horse’s cock when it comes to a single clipped copper. We all got to be who we need to be to do what we need to do.
I'd like to add a bit about why Marshall is in the area and such but right now I'm beat.

Alright, after some consideration, my druid idea drifted more into a witch:
'Dirty' Dergo, Human male rogue
Background:
Born as one of the children produced by the Pixie's kitten, Dergo had it better than most whoresons in the world by virtue of his mother, Darielle. He grew up reasonably happy, even though his surroundings and associates grew closer to the Sczarni by the year.
He slowly developed into a smalltime enforcer, full-time braggart and sometime thug. Never really brutal or vicious, but more concerned with limiting the seemingly-inevitable growth of his debts than the particular morals of this one job, promising silently that the next would be better whenever pushed to his limits. He never killed anyone, but left his share of broken noses.
When the Giants attacked Sandpoint, he was one of the first finding himself collected in the feedbag of a Hill Giant. Only Shalelu's timely rescue with arrow and blade saved him from ending up as a meal to the cannibal, and he has never forgotten it. Despite not being particularly wilderness-worthy, he has done his utmost to repay the ranger, and even managed to straighten his act enough to not have his rescuer scowl everytime he passes by.
Campaign Trait:
Rescued (Shalelu)
Ryoko Kaijitsu, Human female witch
Background:
Scion of the Westcrown branch of the Kaijitsus, Ryoko has grown up as the apple of her very young mother's eye. Life was tough on her, and the decaying splendor of the former capitol formed much of her view on life - as the last haunting notes of a grand symphony, the epilogue of a greater age. She grew up morbid, though never quite nihilistic.
In her early teenage years, she often managed to sneak out after dark, both to shock her friends, where her daring earned some admiration, and out of curiosity. That curiosity finally got the better of her when one of the roving shadow-beasts caught her scent and begun to track her. She tried to slip away, but only caught herself in deeper and deeper shadows. When finally she ended in a back alley, the beast just feet behind her, all light faded. As she struggled, something touched her soul, and changed it. A weasel with glowing red eyes faced the shadow beasts, hissed threateningly, and held it at bay until dawn broke.
She never spoke of the event, not to anyone, not her mother, not her friends. But she no longer fit into Westcrown, and when recent events in that city began to came to head, her mother seized the opportuniy. She put her daughter on the one of the last ships to leave port, hoping to send her to Sandpoint, where she knew hoped Ameiko would take care of her nice. Maybe the wild child and former adventurer could instill some sense into her.
Campaign Trait:
Younger Sibling (Ameiko)

I'm interested in doing this, however I don't have much experience with Jade Regent. I'm going to read up on that and then work on a character for it, but it sounds interesting. I get to come up with more characters for Pathfinder, which is good.
May I make a Tiefling with the Fiendish Heritage feat as a Sorcerer (or wizard)?

Aruetii |

I present two character concepts. I'd like to ask to use the Magus if we have someone that likes to talk to people, and the Sorcerer if no one else has a character that can talk to people.

Wealth: 37
Tiberiu's sheet is a little weird. Since I don't know if you'd allow a Vishkanya, since there is little to no info on where they are in the world. Everything after (OR) Applies to the Vishkanya if you allow it, otherwise it is a Half-Elf template.

I'll work on the backstory after more people submit characters, so I can make a good backstory for whichever I like more for the party.

I would perfer Tiberiu be a half-elf as opposed to the Vishkanya

I'm also interested in joining this game. I'm not really sure what class I feel like making right now but we'll see what idea's come spilling out later today.
I am currently running this here on the boards. Is that going to be a problem for you?

Half-Elf it is. I can't edit the sheet now, but I'll take a note of it and if I use Tiberiu I'll make sure he's a Half-Elf. I have not read through the JR AP, is someone that can talk well actually going to be used?

Hey Dollok, I'm guessing your Sorc/Fighter doesn't have anything really for talking, or am I mistaken? Trying to plan my own characters to be cohesive with other people.
At this point not so much, no. I plan on having some skill at it next level but I will be much more the brawler type than the "face".

All right, then I'll probably make a more social oriented character, or just a sorc that likes to talk a lot.

The answer is, that it is a hybrid:
'Sandpoint' was originally settled by a mercantile league from Magnimar, in partnership with the local Varisian population.
I hope that that helps! :-)
Thank you very much, I want to make a Tiefling, and I wanted to know what race the human side came from, now I have options.

Submitting Torin, Human Monk (Ki Mystic)
Torin's mother died early on in his childhood. His father was a merchant and was often away on business to Magnimar.
This created Torin youthful personality, the angry younger cousin of Shalelu. Shalelu reluctantly told his father, Bremish, that she would look after young Torin and keep him out of trouble.
But without his older, wiser cousin around Torin seemed to find trouble. Shalelu’s reputation for being a fighter and an adventurer didn't help, he always wanted to emulate her.
Torin was quick, resourceful, and strong, a bad combination for someone looking for said trouble.
The final straw was when Torin broke the jaw of the younger brother to the sheriff in an ally brawl. Shalelu had enough and sent a message to Bremish. Eventually he came back, and bailed his son out of trouble. Bremish had enough and made a tough decision for his wayward son.
The next day Torin was packed up and sent to a temple near Magnimar. It took them less than 6 weeks to break him...and for the next 8 years he studied with the Ki Mystic's there. He learned inner peace at his mother's loss and came to understand how he had hurt those he loved.
Just after his 20th birthday the temple sent him out, to learn the path of wide open road. He packed up his meager goods and returned to Sandpoint a man, changed from the boy he had been. His started with the boy he had hurt, now a man and asked for his forgiveness. The man was shocked and barely remembered him. Then Shalelu. Hi father was far away now, trading in Korvosa. But he would be back to Sandpoint so he decided to stay and make himself useful in town, helping Shalelu with odds and ends.
Basics: Tripping focused monk, Ki Mystic subtype.

FEATS: Combat Reflexes (Bonus), Improved Trip, unsure....need to talk to you about it if chosen.

He is Lawful Neutral. Although a little stoic now, some time around other adventurers may relax him somewhat.

Renjiro was raised in Sandpoint, in a family moved here generations past from the Dragon Empires. His mother died when he was young, and his father raised him in the tradition of the samurai, as it had been passed down to him--which is to say, incomplete but earnest.
Renjiro is friendly, kind, and generally a little bit dense. He carries himself in what he imagines a honorable and fitting manner is, but he is mostly making it up as he goes. He found his horse, Nari, wandering wounded near Sandpoint one day, and put much care and effort into her recovery. He prizes his horse highly, and is even more protective of her than he is of Ameiko, whom he has been carrying an obvious and awkward torch for for many years.
As a kid, he followed her around relentlessly. When she was off trying her hand at adventuring, he was sulky and irritable, and mostly wished he was with her to protect her. Usually a fairly confident man, Ameiko makes him stammer and second-guess himself with just a smile.

To all who wish to submit a Tiefling character,
upon further review I'm going to request (i.e require) that you take the Infernal Bastard trait from the Council of Thieves Player's guide as a bonus trait.
You are a tiefling. You might be an
escaped slave, a hidden shame, or a homeless vagabond,
but whatever your upbringing, life has been particularly
hard on you. You have suffered greatly, nearly starving to
death one winter, nearly being beaten to death by racist
sailors one summer, and so on. Whether or not these
experiences have made you a bitter and cynical scoundrel
or a pious and hopeful optimist is up to you, but one thing
is certain—you are something less than even your tiefling
kin. Perhaps it is a result of your hard life, or perhaps it is
due to some fault in your fiendish heritage, but you lack
a tiefling’s standard resistances to cold, electricity, and
fire—instead, you merely have a +2 bonus on all saving
throws made against these effects. Likewise, you do not
have the ability to use darkness as a spell-like ability once
per day—instead, you may choose any one 0-level spell
that you can instead use at will as a spell-like ability.
I apologize if this ruins your plans for your character, but please feel free to rework your concept around this plot twist or you may submit another character concept it it's place.
Thanks,
V

More to the point, i wanted to pick up the sybling trait with Ameiko. But insted of having been raised by her family she saved my life a couple of years ago and took care of me while i recoverd from my injuries. I stayed in Sandpoint helping her out for a long time until i could start working again as a combatant, than she also helped me again and got me a job at Sandru's caravan. I feel a strong affection for her an consider her the sister that i never had.

Sasha was caught outside of Sandpoint when the goblins attacked, searching for herbs to treat an infected local. Ambushed by the goblins, Sasha fought back despit being vastly outnumbered. Shaleluarrived just in time to save her from a burning torch and helped even the odds against the goblins. Since then, Shalelu has tutored Sasha in how to use her natural dancing ability to evade arm, even if her current armor prevents her from using this newfound talent optimally.
