Hey Tessai, Aemon here. Like you said the group is pretty balanced i think a range guy or a bard could work very well. I know traps can be deadly but if you don't like the idea of playing a rogue i'd vote against it.
So basically Ranged paladin(gives us some good cover, not sure how our range setup is like currently) is good and a bard(All the buffs we've got could make this a lot of fun). I'd think about those two and come up with an idea for both and just feel out what you think would be more fun.

hey tessai, welcome to our pbp. I would also say be whatever you want, i would rather be something ill enjoy than try to fill voids in a party. Whatever you choose, this adventure will be awsome I have great expectations for it. Which you had better live up to j!
Sebastian Skarsol |
Welcome Tessai. Anything you like. If you like fighters, go fighter I say! Can never have enough, but Paladin would be an interesting addition.
Tessai |
Thank you for all the feedback people - I feel the bard really itching under my skin - a full out support character, something I have been wanting to have a go at not only but also because it totally thows me outside my comfort zone ;)
I've heard wonders about the archer paladin, but then again, I HAVE played a Zen Archer...
I'll have a decision and a character up by tonight - I am leaning towards the bard though ;)
Markus Valon |
I am going full support(Heal/buffing)almost no damage it's really something i want to try and with these 3 melee in front of us i can't see it going wrong. So to add another buffer/support this will be a fun combination.
Davos Bixby |
Hey Tessai play want ya want to, everything is more or less covered :)
Olav Helverson |
Bards have some interesting archetypes too including self buffing ones that could be interesting, I was playing one in our previous pop and really enjoying him so I'm playing him table top now
Olav Helverson |
Also Sebastian fancy going halfers on a wand of Mage armour when we can afford it, I don't ever want to waste a slot learning the spell so I'm going to get a wand for myself no matter what but you will benefit from it too
Sebastian Skarsol |
Place. Sounds Like a top idea to me.
Caradwen |
Ok, so basic structure of the character is in place - let me know what you think ;)
Doing the Paladin just for my enjoyment now.
Sebastian Skarsol |
J. Looking at power points and it says you can increase an atribute. What do you mean by attribute? Are we taling Str, dex etc.?
Sebastian Skarsol |
J. Kendra gonna let me use her kitchen or what?
Caradwen |
JamZilla, I had already posted an idea of Caradwens' actions for the coming days in Gameplay - I'll repost it here. Let me know what rolls may be needed.
As far as Caradwens' next actions, these will depend partly on Kendras' response, but there are a couple of things she wishes to investigate further:
- She will ask Kendra if she allows her to peruse the books that Professor Lorrimor has in his possession, and that he wishes returned to Lepidstadt University. Caradwen wants to try and understand what is this darker side of the Professors' work he has mentioned - she will take the necessary time to study attentively each and every tome
- If time remains, Caradwen will take it to get to know Ravengro, on one hand, getting to know what businesses are there in town (for example, what is the Unfurling Scroll?), etc. And also get a pulse for what the people think about the Professor and his daughter, if there seem to be any enmities, jealousy, fondness, whatever - trying to understand what is the general disposition towards the Lorrimor family
- Last but not least, Caradwen will take the opportunity to share time with her companions, since they are apparently on a common mission, so for any of the above objectives she will announce her intentions, and inquire if any of them wish to accompany her.
- At every available opportunity she will check on Kendra, trying to support the girl and provide her a friendly shoulder to deal with this situation.
Adding to the above:
- Caradwen will try to gather information around town on who are Montagnie Crowl, and Embreth Daramid, and trying to find a correlation on why it would make sense delivering a book apparently about esoteric knowledge to a judge, or understand if that particular book holds a different type of information, legal or otherwise.
Sebastian Skarsol |
Good idea. I think we will all want to do something similar but not realistic.to all go mob handed. Therefore I think some of us should stay with Kendra at all times. Means splitting the group but that's realistic anyway. We'll be here a month anyway.
We could split the group into sevral smaller ones and set a.task each.
JamZilla |
I'd like to roleplay those interactions in a bit more depth than just a series of rolls Cara because it will involve interacting with NPCs which in itself might reveal information on some of the questions you have.
So I think it would be good if you all decide on one task you want to do for the remainder of today and then another for tomorrow. That's assuming you want to do anything at all, staying with Kendra and getting to know her/asking her information is just as viable.
I don't want this to seem slow but there is a whole town to explore as well.
Caradwen |
Well, I was expecting to go into roleplay mode, but I would need additional details to go on - like who I find that may have interesting information or not, so I can decide on how to address them, if I am well or bad received here or there, etc.
Or you would rather we go more descriptive - like "I go into The Laughing Demon tavern, who is there?" and so forth?
In any case, for today, Caradwen will study the tomes.
Sebastian Skarsol |
J. I forget - how many Hero points do we start with?
Sebastian Skarsol |
Good idea. I suggest we all do the same, but we need to make sure we update when we use them. I'm saving my PPs though so won't be using them for a long while.

Jobs
The posting poles around town are the means by which citizens of Ravengro post information, announcements and job requests around town.
I will post a full list of the jobs available in town here, assuming that Jon read them all and will relay them when he returns form his caravan.
This will also be added to the Campaign Info tab for reference.
These will be handled by a series of skill checks that relate to the task. You will receive the appropriate payment regardless of your rolls but if you succeed at 2 or more of the checks you can also positively influence the town’s trust in the party.
Where the job can accommodate more than one person, more than half the people involved need to succeed to gain the trust bonus (in the case of two people, both must succeed).
If you commit to a job but do not finish it for whatever reason, it will negatively impact the trust of the party.

Guys I dont want to be a d#ck about this but with group this size we really need regular posting to keep things moving, particularly with combat.
Can everyone make an effort to post at least twice a day please? 5am to 5pm and then 5pm to 5am would be good. If you can post more then great. I tend to do an update in the morning before 8am, another at lunch about 13:00 and another in the evening about 19:00, sometimes with posts in between.
Combat is where its particularly important. I dont want every round to take 24 hours so if you miss these posting periods i will post for you. This might lead to actions in combat you didn't necessarily want to take but if we establish this now there wont be arguments later.
With the current case in point ill post for Davos, Cara and Ikkaku at lunch time if they haven't by then.
Thanks.
