I was a bit confused by the map as well. The description you gave said the lighthouse was surrounded by water, but the map has it attached.

Yes, #7 is the lighthouse in question.

The dangers of splitting a post. The first post stated:

Where the rock sits on a flat rocky island, Derby Hill sits atop a hill in the ocean with a spit of rock connecting it to a larger island.

The town is on the larger island. The connecting trail is what I was referring to as the spit of land. The lighthouse is in a position where it is "nearly" surrounded by water. The town is not abandoned but has no official ties to the lighthouse. Like anyone living nearby, the lighthouse does get its supplies from the town.

My apologies for the confusion.

I'll have a post sometime today, likely later tonight. I think Beket is going to take a swim around the rocks down below just to see if there is any secret entrances inside of the lighthouse.

Are we going for surprise? Overwhelming firepower?

Bessie's spells could allow for:
water breathing -
the two swimmers to swim through the air... no one would expect an aerial assault on a lighthouse.
Obscuring Mist and Fog Cloud for stealth
Prayer, Bless or Bears Endurance for buffs.

We need a better plan than sail up and start a fight. Just not sure which way to go with this... laying siege would be too time consuming and risk attracting Harrigan in relief of the lighthouse.

Beket can pretty easily scale the cliffside even at its DC20 and lower a rope downwards for others to climb up after him. If we want to go through the bottom, I can cast Touch of the Sea on three people, saving the last one for Shillelagh.

I also have Cloud of Seasickness to start the fight off against any enemies fighting us at range.

F Human Cleric of Besmara 5 | HP 28/28| AC 13 TO 11 FF 10 | F +4 R +2 W +8 | CMD 15 | Init +1 | Perc +5

I kinda like the idea of using the ships as a distraction - have anyone paying attention be focused on the ships at a distance, not us crawling up from below. We could also sneak in from below and/or above.

Male Tiefling Bloodrager 4 (Primalist, Steelblood)

Between Water Breathing and Touch of the Sea, we could probably have the whole party swim up through their privy. They'd never see it coming. Go right around whatever Maginot Line they've prepared up top.

Look out Belgium, here we come.
I like the idea of taking the lighthouse from within. I think returning it to Orslaw's bride-to-be intact as opposed to a pile of rubble would be better received.

DM / GM / The man behind the curtain

Alright, sounds like infiltration from below. Are the ships going to withdraw or stay within sight but not fire upon the lighthouse?

F Human Cleric of Besmara 5 | HP 28/28| AC 13 TO 11 FF 10 | F +4 R +2 W +8 | CMD 15 | Init +1 | Perc +5

I say the ships sail just out of range - I would say anchor, but I would think they should be under sail in case a "welcoming" committee sails from port.

Just as a brief side note, I am greatly enjoying playing a Lawful Neutral pirate. It may seem counter-intuitive, but holding to a pirate's code and always following the Captain's orders has been a blast. Plus it is great for a former Chelaxian soldier. I believe Orslaw's biggest struggle was mutinying, even in the face of certain death. However, Plugg's mutiny against the former Captain made the transition a bit easier since it somewhat dissolved his former loyalty.

F Human Cleric of Besmara 5 | HP 28/28| AC 13 TO 11 FF 10 | F +4 R +2 W +8 | CMD 15 | Init +1 | Perc +5

And the carefree/zealot CN Bessie has been fun for me!
Thank you Iron for the storytelling and the other PCs for the story!

Having fun here too! Of course, Bleepos had to be chaotic. Hard to be a goblin without it :) I always have a blast with this game, as this is one of my favorite characters and I truly enjoy playing with you all.

You all know that I enjoy basically being an eldritch horror in a pirate game. It has been to play a beatstick druid and be very different than the usual ones you see. Thank you all for having me back <3

F Human Cleric of Besmara 5 | HP 28/28| AC 13 TO 11 FF 10 | F +4 R +2 W +8 | CMD 15 | Init +1 | Perc +5

Bessie is all about protecting the party - buffs, healing, taking out undead and helping in the fight as needed. She will follow her boys in however they choice to handle the two.

CN Male Goblin Rogue (Unchained Pirate/Scout) 5 | HP 43/43 | AC 20 TO 18 FF 13 (CSFD 25/23/13) | F +3 R +10 W +2 | CMD 18 (CSFD 23) | Init +6 | Perc +10 DV | Rogue's Edge: Acrobatics

Bleepos is ready to simply charge in, to be honest - not that Goblins would be very bright or wise, but in his case he's particularly brashy and as a rogue he needs to use the surprise to his advantage :)

I'll post after we know what is behind the door that Orslaw opened. If it is nothing/clear, I'll dismiss the cloud. Hopefully those who failed it are sick for awhile.

Bessie would support -
Securing the lighthouse/our way of entry.

Meeting with the local town to see what their relation is to the lighthouse, and their loyalties to the owner -current and previous.
Suggest we inquire about their opinions of Bilge Rat and then the previous owner Lady Smythe without tell our allegiance to be certain her return will be supported.

Do not move the ballistae - bad form "stealing" from your allies.

I know rule 1 is never split the party - but it would make sense to send one ship back with word to the Rock, and the other stand guard until the Lady's forces arrive to claim her prize.

Didn't she say we could have "anything" within the place after we took it?

F Human Cleric of Besmara 5 | HP 28/28| AC 13 TO 11 FF 10 | F +4 R +2 W +8 | CMD 15 | Init +1 | Perc +5

I would have to look back - but do we really want to strip the place we just attacked of its defenses so the bad guys can come back?
If the tower is armed and our ally, this is another good port to come to for aid.

I vote no to taking the ballistae; but will go with group decision.

Hi guys! Posting it on all my pbps.

Our offshore team at work is very affected by the pandemic at the moment and with the fiscal year approaching to an end, our reduced capacity is terribly affecting my time. For the next several weeks it will likely impact me in such way that I simply won't be able to keep up with the forums, things normalizing only as we start approaching mid June.

For the games where I play, GMs please feel free to bot the characters. If you don't desire to bot me for so long, I completely understand, apologize for the late notice and wish you all the best of fun. If you hold me around, though, I should be back after this storm.

For the games where I host, my sincerest apologies to the players - I won't let you hanging so if you stick around until my return we will give it continuation as normal. Otherwise, please message me and once I'm back I'll recruit replacements.

To everybody, I'm sorry for the late notice and I hope we will continue playing together once I'm back!

Cheers,

Archlich

Well Peril Crew - I think we should:
Squib the ship and take it to Port Peril - the place where the Peril crew came together; sell it there and upgrade gear.

Do we leave the Goblins Prize as a guard at the rock and just take the Pearl and the new ship? Take the fleet? I think three ships might attract more attention than we want.

F Human Cleric of Besmara 5 | HP 28/28| AC 13 TO 11 FF 10 | F +4 R +2 W +8 | CMD 15 | Init +1 | Perc +5

I would suggest one of three options:

What about a treasure hunt? Ngozu and Goatshead are both near "The Lost Messenger" treasure location which is in between the Rock and Rickety's.

Or simply go exploring out along the Shackles?

Or we try to raid some more ships and sail the plunder in the ship to Port Peril and sell it all?

Male Tiefling Bloodrager 4 (Primalist, Steelblood)

Have we go the time to treasure hunt while the squibbing goes on? If not, I say go to Port Peril first, then treasure hunt after.

DM / GM / The man behind the curtain

You have two weeks. It will take about two days to get to the spot Bessie is talking about.

M Human Fighter (Corsair) 5 | HP 31/49 | AC 20 TO 13 FF 17 | F +6 R +3 W +2 | CMB +9 (11 Overrun) CMD 21 | Init +2 | Perc +1

I'd be in favor of a treasure hunt. Sounds like it won't really cost us much time. Orslaw would much prefer that over exploring near Rickety's where those serpent people are, for sure.

Male Tiefling Bloodrager 4 (Primalist, Steelblood)

Hey folks, sorry I didn’t let y’all know earlier, my computer’s been in the shop for most of a week, having internet problems. I’ll be back when it gets back. Might get a post or two before, but I hate posting, especially combat, from mobile. Until then the Commodore’s....busy. Inspecting the new ship or fort or something. Should only be a couple more days.

F Human Cleric of Besmara 5 | HP 28/28| AC 13 TO 11 FF 10 | F +4 R +2 W +8 | CMD 15 | Init +1 | Perc +5

As Bessie does not have ranks in Knowledge Local; the best she could do is The "10"... can she simply Take 10? Technically it is allowed by RAW, but I know some DMs do not let players take 10 on knowledges...

DM / GM / The man behind the curtain

In my opinion it depends on the situation. The basic knowledge roll is to see what you know. Taking 10 does not apply in that case. If for instance, you were willing to go about town collecting rumors and information then I could see taking 10. With a basic local check taking an hour, taking 10 would be 10 hours or a whole day.
