Special Abilities

Bonus Feats: At 1st level, and at every even level thereafter, a fighter gains a bonus feat in addition to those gained from normal advancement (meaning that the fighter gains a feat at every level). These bonus feats must be selected from those listed as Combat Feats, sometimes also called “fighter bonus feats". Upon reaching 4th level, and every four levels thereafter (8th, 12th, and so on), a fighter can choose to learn a new bonus feat in place of a bonus feat he has already learned. In effect, the fighter loses the bonus feat in exchange for the new one. The old feat cannot be one that was used as a prerequisite for another feat, prestige class, or other ability. A fighter can only change one feat at any given level and must choose whether or not to swap the feat at the time he gains a new bonus feat for the level.

Background Info

Appearance: Beket is a tall, Mwangi man standing at 6'2 and weighing over 240lbs. He dresses in a long, hooded coat with long dreadlock hanging out from underneath. Unkempt and wild, the man moves with a sailor's gait yet has the undisputable air about him of a warrior. His tribe name of "Runetooth" comes from the runes etched onto his teeth, sigils of good luck and strength. When undressed, his back is covered with a legion of whip scars as well as scars around his ankles and wrists. In combat, he fights with a cutlass and shield in hand as he still learns how to master the fighting with a blade in each hand.

Personality: Beket is an intimidating figure, quiet and vicious with his words when he needs to intimidate others. For those who work through his thick skin or earn his trust, the man enjoys the company of others and celebrating with his brothers and sister in battle. His hatred only comes to the forefront when confronted by slavers or Cheliax's navy.

History: Born on the coast of the Mwangi Jungle, Beket was born to a small tribe known as the Runetooths in his native tongue. Born with an impressive physique, he naturally took to physical activities. What always called him though was the sea; the endless horizon called to him even as a child. Day in and day out, he could be found wading through the tide pools or enjoying the warm water rushing to meet him. The boy was prone to daydreaming, always intrigued by what would wash up on shore or if he'd ever see a ship up close. The day that his dream came true though would bring a nightmare to his life.

Beket was waiting on the shore, a large ship sailed closer to the shore than ever before. Leaping from it came a series of men and women, armed with blades and magic. Raiders had found his humble village. The battle was fierce but short, his people cut down due to inferior numbers. The weakest among them was culled and the strong were taken on board as chattel.

The young man was purchased by the Cheliaxian Navy and worked upon one of their dreaded ships. Life was cruel and violent there, where he was put to work underneath the son of one of the ship's officers. Beket's spirit refused to be broken, leading to him being punished again and again. In time though, his chance to escape would finally come when his would-be master was rewarded a scouting ship of his own and his arrogance finally cost him.

The storms that haunt the Shackles, while not as impressive as the Eye, are terrible in their own right. Thanks to his master's ineptitude, many of the marines were washed overboard. With the number of sailors down, Beket aligned with his fellow slaves and lead a revolt. His chains choked the life out of the man that sought to own him, Beket enjoying watching the life leave his eyes before he tossed him into the storm. Flame soon took the ship, lighting the alchemist fire and leaving the ship to erupt. The slaves escaped into a dinghy and threw themselves to the mercy of the sea. Five days later, a pirate ship rescued them from the brutality of the sun.

Since then, Beket has been a free man who serves those who can pay his services well and fights for coin and freedom. Never again will he willingly be bound by chain and for those that do try, they will be offered as payment to Besmara for sparing his own. Drawn to Port Peril and hoping to find a true crew and captain to sail under, Beket was watching the tide flood in when a sap cracked against his skull and all became as black as the depths below the sea.
