Zeke draws his pistol while he moves beside the others choking in the cloud. Seeing the smilers attacking, he positions himself to catch as many of them as possible in a cone of swirling light. He mutters a quick prayer to enchant his arcane gun, and casts color spray through it.

(The Will DC to avoid the effects is 17.)


ROUND 1 SUMMARY

As Jolga and Ton escape the gas cloud, Zeke bravely steps forward and blasts three of them with a color spray! Two collapse unconscious! One fights off the effects!

It was a brave move by Zeke, who is now in front of the party and left exposed to a hailstorm of bullets! The three Smilers who are still up pick him as their sole target. He is hit twice for 9 damage total!

The party can largely do nothing but to find cover, while the Smilers reload and fire again! Two of them five foot step back to get away from Wulf, and fire at him. One fires again at Zeke.

Zeke briefly closes his eyes and concentrates on his pistol in prayer, and casts remove sickness on Garfaulk. Then he moves behind Jolga for a bit of cover.

From his more protected vantage point, he casts coin shot and takes aim at the Smiler who keeps shooting at him!

He cast it through his bonded pistol, which lets him produce any spell he could cast 1/day. Unfortunately that means I don’t have enough for him to get everybody!

Hearing Zeke praying for him, Garfaulk looks over at the half-elf and grins, then raked a deep breath and starts bellowing, his voice loud and clear for all to hear, a dwarven song of gratitude, though one that was an octave deeper than he usually sang. Shaking the ground, the enemies would lose their footing as the dwarf sings a song to inspire his allies while slamming a cartridge into Crescendo

And from around a corner, Charles reappears!

The three conscious Smilers reposition with five foot steps, reload, and fire again!

Garfaulk continued to bellow as the Smiler's aimed at him, pushing off the wall as he tumbled forward-the boat absorbed one hit, and he tucked and rolled under the other bullet

Summersaulting to his feet, he whips Crescendo up, aiming for the head of the nearest Smiler, intending to shoot that damn grin off the criminal's face

As Garfaulk is reloading he feels a sting on the side of his leg. Looking down, he sees a bit of red on the side of his leg-seemed mid tumble they still grazed him, which only made him more intense

Wulf smashes a head into jelly, Charles slits a throat, and Zeke takes out another with a gold coin shot!

Only one remains! Panicking at this point, he shakingly reloads his gun and fires at Wulf who is only 10 feet away and coming fast. Wulf is shot for 6 damage!

"Outer door trapped. I disabled it. Here." Charles produces a rifle. "Don't fight over it. Lobby has two doors, guarded by ogre. Hhh. Ogre thought I was a ghost. To the right are what sound like dorms. Some sleeping, some awake. Seven rooms, each with at least one in it. Other door by the ogre leads to hallway with another door at the end. Something in there I couldn't quite see."


Oh, my bad Garfaulk! You did the initial blast on the smiler, and Zeke's pistol is what finished him off. Charles-- the dorms were to the right (If I messed that up earlier-- whoops.)

Technically not true. But With Arcane Bond and Spell Recall I could cast Invisibility 3 more times and still myself a little juice to buff my gun.

If you want it, I can cast it on you. Before I do though, what's the actual plan? Sneak in there and assassinate the sleeping Smilers and lure out the ogre?

I just picked up stinking cloud so I can make them deal with the equivalent of these gas grenades too. Maybe a higher PC than the grenades as well. I'm just not great at fort saves...


The five smilers each carry a vial of that awful Soothe potion, and each has a masterwork buckler, and tons of ammunition, but nothing else noteworthy. Like all the other Smiler's you fought, their pistols are pieces of junk.

After taking what you want, you quietly work your way to the front of the Smiler HQ.

I forgot about Fascinate, as in the Bardic performance. Might be useful as well, though I'm good with trying to haunt him and scare him off.
