The water was beyond putrid, bodies of upturned rat float within it half dissolved.

The handrails appear dubious at best, rust coating them though they appear still firmly attached to their bearings.

The water however didn' appear to deep and could be waded across even for Klodd though why anyone would want to do so is up in the air.

A Skittering rat runs past your head and slips, falling into the water. It struggles briefly with some smoke coming off its body before it gives up its futile attempts, skin and fur ever so slowly melting off its skull as you watch.

"Okay! So, let's not touch the evil liquid... Unless... " Irathes drops a scrap of cured leather from his component pouch into the deadly fluid to see if it could be contained in his waterskin.

Hey nightdeath, forgive me if it isn't helpful, but here's the things I am looking for your responses on:
Can we take ten to get across?
If yes, does Klodd make it with at 19? If no, does Klodd make it with an 18?
With a 23 Perception does Klodd find someplace to tie off a rope to assist on the check?

Yes You can take 10 to get across, DC 10.
With Perception 23 Klodd finds a place to tie off the rope easily and that the walls here are uneven.

Irathes finds that the leather seems able to stand the water acidic properties before suddenly just dissolving and melts off leaving the remaining smouldering piece in his hands, the liquid eating into the leather piece rather swiftly.

"Well, there goes that idea," he turns to the others, "Shall we?" Irathes follows Klodd over, holding on to the rope he's tied off. Or takes 10 for a 12

Reaching the end of the ledge, he and Klodd find themselves at a loss, as there is no longer any ledge.

"They have to get across somehow," the gravewalker mutters to himself. He Detects Magic again since he couldn't see this part of the hall before. He also peruses the wall for a hidden latch for a walkway mechanism or something.

Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7

Telthes waits until everyone else crosses, maintaining his position as rearguard.

Can we see the chain in the ceiling from here or is that what this perception is all about?

Searching the chain, it's obvious some mechanism is needed to be activated in order to reveal a walkway. This should in theory allow passage to the next area.

Backtracking, you realise that the chain leads back to A7 where you came from and likely that the mechanism to work this could be found there.

Heading back to where the chain originally lead from, the chain leads to a broken wall and it takes little effort to find the lever and activate it. There is a chink and the sound of rusty chains protesting after centuries of unuse being force to perform their function.

A Simple raised platform can be seen allowing access to the ledge, it's still slippery from being immersed in the slimy contents. The wall open up to fit with the platform providing enough space for one person to walk along the newly discovered entrance.

Irathes walks gingerly across to the receiving area, awaiting for those with keener eyes before attempting to move forward.
