Might I make a suggestion for initiative that I find works well in PbP. Let everyone roll for initiative, then base the rolls on the Monster roll. IE... If the monsters roll a 12, then everyone before a 12 in initiative goes in any order. The bad guys go, then everyone after a 12 goes in any order.
This really cuts down the waiting time. In the example we're in now it would be...
Telthes and Irathes
The Centipedes
Everyone else.
I would also suggest that especially in combat you give the characters 24 hours to post for their initiative turn then DMPC them so that the game doesn't bog down.
Just a couple of hints from the many games I've played in.

I tried that approach but some of my players didn't like it so I used the current ones.
I'd prefer to just roll initative for everybody and then let them decide what actions they want to do. I usually do the following:
Party Before Monsters
Monsters
Party after monsters.
However I've also found that a mix of initative rolls offers a challenge as well as serves a purpose.
This combat might reveal something else if the party continues with this combat past a certain point.
Irathes |
Yeah, and in a party with buffers and debuffers (like Irathes), it really matters who goes when.
What we could do though, is if you get on, and it's not your turn, put your actions in a spoiler with conditions. IE
I've done this before, and it takes a little more time to write the spoilers and put multiple actions (if you have to). Plus, the GM has to work out what happened (which I've found is a good practice to get into anyway). However it DRASTICALLY cuts down on start-to-finish time for encounters.
Just a suggestion though, I'm fine with it the way it is.

This is going to all games I'm involved in.
My mum has just being warded and it is a critical time for all of us. My posting will be affected as I maintain virgil over her witing for teh doctors to dignosed what's wrong with her.
Bot me as needed or If I'm the GM, this game is on hold for the moment. My apolgies for the inconvenice.

Thank you all of you.
I'll try to have something up on Sunday.
My mother's condition has improved somewhat and thus all the excitement has diminished so I can take a breather.

Dear all.
Map is updated and Tokens added. Didn't like the other method so fell back to something I'm used too. Have left the map numbers there for easier reference.
My Posting will be affected as I shuttle between Work, Home and hospital so my apologies in advance for this.
Last but not least.
Thank you all for your kind consideration and support.
nightdeath |
So sorry everybody. Shuffling between work, home and hospital is killing my time.
I'll try to post as often as I can, if I'm holding up the game, bot me as needed.
nightdeath |
This goes out to all my games.
The worst has happened. The event that I've being dreading has occured. I'll be unable to post as I deal with the loss of family, namely my mother. I'm sorry for the lack of posting lately and truly am sorry for springing this upon all of you.
I'll be back once things have settled down more.
nightdeath |
Shall we start off where we left off?
I'm sorry but I had to re-read everything to get back on track for this game.
Adonnenniel Orvir |
So, a little late, but as a head's up I am out of town, hiding in a woods with little internet for the next week. Also, I will be at the upcoming GenCon, and might not be around much then either. Feel free to bot me as necessary.
nightdeath |
I'll be gone from 21st to 29th Aug on training camp so Logging on may not be easy for me.

There comes a time when I must admit when RL gets too much.
You guys are great but I'm not doing any of you justice.
I got a promotion, hence new responsibilities.
Loss in the family left me reeling.
A raise and a heavier work load came in like lightning.
I just don't have the time to commit to you great players anymore and I'm ashamed to see that my post rate has dwindled had an alarming rate.
I have to make a decision to cut down on games and this one is one of those that has to go.
I'm truly sorry and I hope that each and everyone of you finds a better GM than me.
