Don't worry Daen, I'm sure Cyanne will see to it that you get an improper education! Expect lots of hands-on study activities.

Hilary suggested I pop in here to ask for advice.
I'm planning to run a Dex based Magus through Rise of the Runelords. Hilary described the group in the thread where she asked for advice. Right now, the thought is she will play a melee alchemist.
Daen, I know you have experience with Magus. Sounds like a couple of other people do here. Anything you can add?
Thanks!

I'm just laughing over Daen's assumptions. They may be wrong, but they're fair ones to make. I guess. And now I'm wondering how he'll react when Kaz comes out...
I'm inclined to give Luthor a chance to respond before I post again. But this is a gift that keeps on giving.
Bret, you don't want to ask me for advice. I made a kapenia dancer once. >.>

HEY! Kapenia Dancer is a perfectly good archetype...
Actually, I was thinking about combining it with Card Caster for a bit, just for the flavor.

The flavor of the archetype is awesome, card caster too. Also, this game doesn't require optimization, it just requires most people in a party to make sure they can at least do one thing well. It's really fun for some people to work out their numbers, but it really isn't necessary. It all depends on how ruthless your GM is.
As for when Kaz comes out... I don't know when that will happen. I don't even know if Kaz knows he's gay. Yeah, expect Daen to react in a strange and inappropriate way. It's no fun making a controversial character if there's no controversy, right? Don't worry, he'll come round to accepting everyone as is. He's just a bit wet behind his long ears when it comes to the ways of the world.

Oh, kapenia dancer is great... Just not when you're playing it in the PFS arms-race. >.>
Kaz has put the dots together. He knows he likes men the same way most men like women, but he doesn't know that there's a word for it, or that it isn't just something that's wrong with him. He's pretty confused about it all, because Erastil places a strong emphasis on family, and he knows, of course, that two men can't have kids. At the same time, he knows it would feel wrong being with a woman - while he did love his previous sweetheart, he just didn't want to do those kinds of things with her. He's got some conflicts going on between his faith and his sexuality, and if he ends up being king (which could well happen, unless Cyanne is more interested in the position) then that will add a whole other layer of complexity.
And yes, I expect Daen to be confused and probably somewhat offensive about it. But the hilarity potential is also there.

I'm currently having some computer problems (freezes up about five minutes after booting up) that are making it really hard to write long, detailed posts, especially if rolls are involved. I just wanted you to be aware in case there's nothing tonight. I'll try my best to write something up somewhere, but...

GM, I hope you get your computer issues sorted out soon. That sounds nightmarish!
Also, I just wanted to say that this...
Poor Kaz looks miserable under that blanket. Kind of like a puppy that got forced into a bath and now questions if there’s any good in the world.

Shhh.... Luthor, you're not supposed to point that out. The GM might cry.
Bluff: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17
Cyanne says loudly, "More posts in discussion than gameplay? Nonsense. Luthor simply miscounted!"
Then, realizing that her bluff might not have worked, she tries to distract the GM instead. "Want to see my dance costumes?" She pulls out a bag that look like it might hold three handkerchiefs worth of material, and starts to open it.

Yeah, I don't mind her reacting or noticing, or anyone else really. He's hiding behind a horse, which isn't usual behavior for him. And the horse is irritated because they often get agitated if their owners are agitated, so his emotional state would be kind of telegraphed. Oh, and he's muttering number sequences, which he hasn't really done before that anyone's heard. There's lots to react to if one is willing to notice.
Edit: Also, after I wrote the above, I thought that it might seem hostile. It isn't. It's supposed to be playful.

This has been a magnificent game. It's my favorite one, in part because of the great chemistry between the PCs. Can I tell that I love you all?
However, the thing that makes this such a joy is all the hard work that you put in Chris! You're an excellent writer, and you do such a great job setting the scene for all of us. You've also got a great sense of pacing.
Thank you for giving us a great world in which to play, and for allowing me to be a part of it. I'm really happy that you guys decided to allow in a fifth player, and that I've been able to interact with all of you.

I can't think of anything negative to say at this point in time. And that's a big thing from me, a naturally depressed and negative person.
EDIT (as I just read the recent gameplay): And Cyanne? You're making things more awkward for Kaz by the minute. It's glorious. :D

Luthor: I'm sorry! Kaz doesn't really mind all that much; he's just a bit awkward and not sure how to react. Luthor's a bit more hands-on and exuberant than he's used to (well, Cyanne is as well, but he's managing to think of her as a sisterly figure, sometimes) and the bumbling farmboy is still trying to figure him out. Unfortunately, how I'd react to things isn't always how I know my character would react.

I still feel awful, because I remember how I heard. You know how people will say things like "You know Willie Nelson died? Yeah, he was singin' on the road again"? Well, my dad was picking me up from school, and he's not talking much, just staring at the road. Them he just goes, "You hear Steve Irwin died?" My reaction was just "Okay, and?" I thought he was setting up for a punchline. When I heard he was actually dead, I felt awful.
We all thought it'd be a croc that got him, though.

Yeah, I noticed your avatar shift last night. I was rereading gameplay and saw it shift a few times. I went through a similar identity crisis before I settled on my Doom Girl avatar for my GM idenity. I was looking for something that would work for both Overflow Archives and Ironbound Schism and that took time.
I think a lot of people in PFS built Rakshasha tieflings to cover their catfolk cravings... "This is really a tiefling, but he's disguised as a catfolk..." I like this one better than the clown, which scared me more than the swarm did. :)
Hmm
PS My two PFS scenarios are finally winding down, which should make me more sane. Ironbound has been spectacularly good. If you want a fun read, it's wrth looking at.

Would anyone like to discuss the philosophy behind swarms? I'm not particularly satisfied with how this is going, since only one member of the party can actually damage them (and is currently nauseated). This is probably the least-fun encounter all-around for everyone. Is there a different way we could resolve it that won't take a week?

Run away!
---
More seriously, if someone has some oil they could spread it on the ground. Lead the swarm to it and then light it. Repeat until dead.
The swarms tend to be stupid enough to go after whatever food is closest. They also tend to move slower than most characters.
In at least one scenario I played, we ran out of alchemist fire, acid, etc. and the swarm had 2-3 hp left. We finally had someone fast slowly lead it away and then run back to us after it was far away.

Shit, sorry. The past couple of days have been a blur for me. I forgot it was my turn >.<
As far as dealing with swarms, I came up with a couple ideas.
1. Stomping on them.
2. Cyanne throws down glue seal on the swarm. Like giant magical fly paper.
3. Maybe you could use prestidigitation to fling spiders away?
4. Heck you could have Cyanne throw solid notes at them?
5. Acid Splash.
6. Chill touch could damage them.
7. My wikipedia research says that mongeese eat insects. Dinner time?
8. How long does it take to light a torch? Fire good.
