I am willing to donate 350 gold as well. Just a token of appriciation for the help the town has given us.

Male Dwarf Ranger 10| AC 22 T 14 FF 20 | HP 94/94 | F +13 R +12 W +18;+2 v Poison, spells and SLAs | Init +2| Perc +15

Dolgrym sits down on the giant's corpse and breathes a sigh of relief. "Yes, we must wait until tomorrow. If we go after them now we are all dead."

Tomorrow dawns, and a trip to the temple gets everyone healed of their physical damage. The high priest informs you: "I have no healing resources left, my entire supply was drained in the attack. My reserve supply was raided, although those responsible left a mostly reasonable payment. If you return today, I can probably heal you again. As for any other maladies, I can stimulate your resistance to fight any effects."

Anyone suffering from maladies of other sorts can save again at +4 to the roll.

"Do you need any holy water? I can sell them for 25 gp a vial. That is the cost of the materials used to make them."

As you prepare to enter, Othdan offers to go with you. "If I'm going, I'm getting an equal share. I am not gonna get ripped off like with my platinum treasure."

The experienced ranger answers: "I cannot tell the tribe from their tracks. If they are like these others, they are from the Twisted Nail tribe. Probably working with giants. Rock and I have been looking around to see where they are coming from."

Rock is there with the ranger, it appears they have become great friends over the last two days. "You boys have done well. If you get into trouble, high tail it back to the healer."

The high priest adds: "Our oracle has had another vision." The blind half orc that you met earlier adds. "This is a sacred tomb of great importance to orcs and giants by the name of Uskroth's Tomb. Be careful in there. There is something powerful you must not allow them to recover."

You approach the ten foot wide entrance on the morrow. You decide whether or not to take Othdan along. The breastplate has been recovered from the cleric, and is equipped.

Fighter 2|HP26/26|AC17T11FF16|F6R1W2|Init+1|Per4

You have been raided? Well here is something to help restore what you have lost.

Augier plops down 350 gold pieces.

I'll be more than happy to give you an equal share, Othdan, I suggest you using a crossbow or shortbow.

Augier casts Mage armor on himself.

Cham has both masterwork and regular breastplates and chain shirts available at standard prices.

Male Dwarf Ranger 10| AC 22 T 14 FF 20 | HP 94/94 | F +13 R +12 W +18;+2 v Poison, spells and SLAs | Init +2| Perc +15

Do we have enough gold for me to buy a masterwork breastplate? Do we want to take Othdan along? It seems he's a rogue useful, but a cleric would be more useful.

Fighter 2|HP26/26|AC17T11FF16|F6R1W2|Init+1|Per4

we might trade some of the treasure we have for it.

Unfortunately, the strength drain was not a save so I believe I only gain an additional point for the overnight rest unless the priest performed long-term care on me which would restore me to my normal strength. Let me know how to proceed.

After being healed, Tegnar thanks the priestess. "We appreciate your help. Now we can finish off those intruders." He then stashes his 2 new vials of holy water into his belt pouch and readies his waraxe and shield.

"Othdan, you have proved yourself very capable. I would be honored if you would join us, at an equal share of course. I agree with Augie though, you should have a ranged weapon. We can provide you with a light crossbow if you don't have one of your own."

"Agreed lad. You did your part well. The spirit of Rodrik is surely proud of you!" says Yarask giving the boy a playful, yet heavy, pat on the back.

Healed by the clerics to full health, even the spider bites and disease fade as the head cleric touches your wounds. "Return for more healing if you need it."

You move to the tunnel in the hill by the Hopespring.

Gossamer cobwebs hang from the ceiling of this rough tunnel,
and the misty spray from the Hopespring’s waterfall outside
glimmers faintly on strands of spider silk. Chunks of rubble lie
scattered on the floor amid piles of dirt.
The tunnel burrows south beneath Bloodmarch Hill for
approximately 150 feet in complete darkness.

You journey to see the entrance cavern...
The air in this cavern is humid but cool, and a thin sheen of
condensation coats its rocky walls. A narrow passage exits
the cavern to the west. To the south, the floor drops away into
darkness, while a bridge of stone leads to another cavern to the
east. The sound of trickling water echoes through the cavern.

Othdan carries a light crossbow with bolts in addition to his chain shirt and hopeknife.

Marching order?? -- ten feet wide (could go by 2s) See map you are in ROOM P2

Fighter 2|HP26/26|AC17T11FF16|F6R1W2|Init+1|Per4

"Let me be up front. I can try and track the orcs to see which way they went from up there."

Track: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29

Woo! I bought the masterwork breastplate, so we need to subtract that and add masterwork scale mail to the loot.

Fighter 2|HP26/26|AC17T11FF16|F6R1W2|Init+1|Per4

Augier waves his hand and a small ball of light appears.

Tracks of about six orcs lead straight ahead. A large set of tracks goes left--a troll or giant.

Male Dwarf Ranger 10| AC 22 T 14 FF 20 | HP 94/94 | F +13 R +12 W +18;+2 v Poison, spells and SLAs | Init +2| Perc +15

"Do we follow the orcs straight ahead or the troll or giant to the left?"

Fighter 2|HP26/26|AC17T11FF16|F6R1W2|Init+1|Per4

Let us try the giant. Remember, try to heave some of our remaining flasks and flash powder to stun it.

"Should we go single file or 2 by 2? I'm fine with either but would like to be near the front. I'm not as fast as Yarask, so it might take me a while to get into battle if I'm in the back." Tegnar says as he looks at the others for input.

Male Dwarf Ranger 10| AC 22 T 14 FF 20 | HP 94/94 | F +13 R +12 W +18;+2 v Poison, spells and SLAs | Init +2| Perc +15

Fighter 2|HP26/26|AC17T11FF16|F6R1W2|Init+1|Per4

Two by two then. Augier gets in position.

Dolgrym begins tracking, deciding which direction to go.

Left to follow a large set, center to follow many medium tracks.

Male Dwarf Ranger 10| AC 22 T 14 FF 20 | HP 94/94 | F +13 R +12 W +18;+2 v Poison, spells and SLAs | Init +2| Perc +15

"We were told the orcs were here to get an important artifact. While it would be enjoyable to smash the giant I think we should concentrate on the orcs."

If there are no objections, Dolgrym heads south.

Fighter 2|HP26/26|AC17T11FF16|F6R1W2|Init+1|Per4

Augier nods and follows.

"If we are going after the orcs, why doesn't everyone ready a ranged weapon while the cavern allows. If the space gets too confined, you can switch to melee. I'll keep my axe and shield ready and will step up to try to block any incoming orcs," Tegnar says to the others.

Moved everyone. Put Augie in middle unless you think Othdan should be.

Othdan. May Dolgrym,Tengar or Yarask please borrow your hopeknife? These rats seem to need magic to harm them.

-___-'' A wild dwarf appears!!! As for the hopeknife we should have one too besides Othdan's

Aaargh 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Yarask 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Dolgrym 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17
Tegnar 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Othdan 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
Enemy 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18

Othdan prepares to hand off his dagger, he speaks, and it glows brightly. The illumination falls upon the entire cavern. Before anyone else can act, Dolgrym is caught flatfooted as a huge skeletal giant attacks with a spear. His training against giants saves him as the spear goes wide.

Giant skeleton: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (7) + 12 = 192d6 + 9 ⇒ (3, 5) + 9 = 17

shadow rats: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 181d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17

The two shadow rats have more luck, and their teeth bite through Dolgrym leaving him weak.

STR damage: 2d2 ⇒ (1, 2) = 3

Dwarves to go -- I placed Dolgrym on the map, I assume the others are behind and carrying missile weapons as described earlier.

I was under the impression we were still near the entrance... how is it possible we moved that far already? Incorporeal rats and skeletal giants togheter?

Male Dwarf Barbarian 03 HP: 38/38 | AC:17 | T:12 | FF:15 | CMB:+6 | CMD:18 | Fort:+6 | Ref:+3 | Will:+2 | Init:+2 | Perc:+7 | Sense Motive:+1 | Rage: 11/11

Anyone here? What do we do? Seems like the idea of keeping distance is gone (-4 to hit and possibly cover) so what do we do now, charge in? Prioritize the rats? The giant? Can we work out a strategy togheter please?

Male Dwarf Ranger 10| AC 22 T 14 FF 20 | HP 94/94 | F +13 R +12 W +18;+2 v Poison, spells and SLAs | Init +2| Perc +15

It was a good idea, until they won initiative and closed. Taking down the rat's or driving them back may be best. I believe the light from the hopeknife drove them back before. It would give us a chance to drop the giant and take them from distance.

Dwarf Fighter 3 HP -4/32; AC 20; T 12; FF 18; F +5; R +2; W +2; CMB +7; CMD 18; Speed 20ft; Init +1; Perc +4 TPK

Wow, we moved quite a bit farther than I realized. I have a vial of holy water I can throw at rats. Need to take care of them first so they don't weaken us all. Do we still have 2 magic hopeknives? I made a comment in the discussion thread.

Tegnar recoils at the sight of the rats, remembering how difficult they were to deal with earlier. He drops his shield and grabs a vial of holy water from his belt pouch. He then tries to pour the water onto the nearest rat.

Touch attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9 $&#%$#%! great time for a crappy roll.

The shadow rats attack Yarask, realizing his dagger is nasty light.

Both swings miss the dwarf, who is trained to dodge giants!!
Then Tegnar hits with his holy water extinguishing a rat. Yarask hits with the dagger, also taking out the other rat. Othdan moves by the wall, waiting so see if he can flank the giant. The grenade continues to sputter!!
