The giant falls, and the dwarves hit him. Tegnar finds his unenchanted blade does little damage.

Othdan steps in and hits.

His shining hopeknife hits a vulnerable spot.

The giant stabs from the ground at Othdan.

The first strike barely deflects off his chain shirt and the second stab is way high. The boy is shaken up, but stabs again after moving, using two daggers. Both daggers hit the neck of the giant skeleton. The giant is almost done for. The boy and grenade have really hurt the huge skeletal giant.

Yarask drops the hopeknife and strikes with his earthbreaker

Tegnar is frustrated that his attack didn't seem to do much damage. Seeing the giant fall to the ground though, he tries to finish it off.

The blast of frost misses the prone giant (-4 to hit prone). Yarask misses, and Tegnar's blade does minimal damage to the bony giant.

Seeing the boy as the primary threat, the giant attacks Othdan in earnest.

Two blows miss the boy as he dodges, swinging back, the hopeknife hits the giant and hurts him. The boy swings his normal dagger, and he finds it does no damage to the bone of the giant even though the strike was true.

Augier grabs the last two CLW potions and begins pouring them down Dolgrym's throat. Get your bows, grenades, rocks and shoes ready!

Tegnar shakes his head. "This is not good. We're out of healing and haven't even found the orcs we were tracking. Why don't I lead and the rest of you try to stay at range. Hand me one of those flash powders. Maybe I can delay any attackers and give you all a round to fire at them before they close. Or do we turn around and try again after getting healed back in town?"

He picks up and readies his shield and holds the bag of flash powder in his other hand. He looks around the room, trying to help the others that are more perceptive, before moving on.

"I think we have better to keep our distance, Tegnar... did you see what just happened? Overextending ourselves is tantamount to suicide down here!"


Aaargh moves over to the fallen ranger and get out his healing potions (6 seconds) he administers a healing potion, but it is not enough to rouse the injured dwarf (2hp).

Then, two wolves, an orc with a huge collection of potions and mixing vials appears trailed by a flood troll. The orc is moving at an amazing speed. Aargh cannot identify the magic that gives him the speed. spellcraft: 2d20 ⇒ (4, 18) = 22

The orc drinks a magical extract, and Aaargh recognizes the extract as a 'bombers eye' mixture, often known to give alchemists accuracy with their explosives. The orcs close and growl menacingly.

The orc shouts in common. "You desecrate this holy place. But you will be allowed this one chance to leave peacefully if you swear to never come back."

Othdan points out -- "That's a troll that met at the creepy house with the other half orc."

Dolgrym groggily shakes his head, "Yes mother I'll be good from now on.....What the....I hurt... everywhere. That wasn't fun. I is anyone else mostly dead? Do we need to head back for healing? I believe I do." Dolgrym stand and retrieves his hammers and pulls out his sling. "I'm standing in the back if we're not heading out."


Spread out some, that half-orc can toss explosives.


The troll looks at Skreed. "We kill?"

Skreed looks at you and you notice he has some blond, Ulfen hair. He is advanced in age for a half orc. "I have much to live for. You may too. In my younger days I may have rolled the dice. But the less of your life left, it seems the more precious it is. Humans tried to enslave me, but I have nothing personal against dwarves."

Othdan looks somewhat surprised. "You quoted a Rodrik play."

It appears the half orc/half Ulfen has read Rodrik.

The nine feet long 800 pound wolves seem quite imposing. They do seem tougher than the pups you remember from before.


A close look at the troll reveals he has an incredibly well made blacksmiths hammer. It has a detailed symbol engraved in it.

Skreed nods to the other room. "We take the hammer, you get the armor. Win, win I say."

Tegnar struggles to decide what the best course of action is. Finally, he speaks, "You talk of us desecrating this sacred place, yet it appears that you are here to loot it. What is this place and what are the hammer and armor you speak of?"

Ah, diplomacy with dwarves

Augier holds ready, torn about twhat to do and reading a glitterdust spell.


Tensions build, and you are sure that in all of your knowledge of orcs, trolls, and dwarves, coming to a peaceful accommodation rather than an all out bloodletting is almost unheard of. Nevertheless, the alchemist who obviously designed the marks on the town that could no be easily washed off seems amenable to a temporary truce.

He points to the hammer the troll has. "That is the symbol for a giant god. This is a hill giant tomb. You came when I was stripping the magic armor too, but that I figure you can have. I think dwarves would have the least claim to a giant tomb, but I figure you deserve the armor for your diligence. I respect anyone who could unravel my master plot."

Tensions are such that we can reroll initiative if combat starts.

Let's go out in a blaze of glory. Augier opens the ground under the troll, Yarask and Tegnar charge to dogs, Othdan makes himself useful and Dolgrym uses his sling. Hopefully everything goes for the better...

The truce falls apart, and it is the boy Othdan who strikes first. His dagger is thrown at the troll. Trying to catch the troll flatfooted, the dagger sails high.

Trolls are humanoid(giant), shouldn't we get our +4 AC?

"Good! This is how things shall be! No quarter asked, no quarter given! DEATH TO GIANTS AND THEIR ILK! JUSTICE FOR RODRICK GATH!" yells Yarask swinging his greataxe at the troll with all of his considerable might!

We need to get rid of his regeneration first...


The flood troll takes a massive slash from the barbarian and barely clings to its feet.

Tegnar steps up to try to block Dolgrym from the wolves and swings his waraxe at the troll to try to finish him off.

Tegnar hits and leaves the troll bleeding on the ground. Skreed tosses a bomb that hits Dolgrym, and manages to splash on everyone near the ranger but the troll, who is not hit with fire.

The two wolves lunge, one at Othdan biting him and knocking him to the ground and narrowly missing his throat. The other attacks Tegnar, and although flanked, the fighter takes a bite from the wolves attack but keeps his feet (12 damage to Tegnar from wolf).
Unable to dodge the fiery bomb, the wolf attack leaves Othdan barely conscious and on the ground.

Dolgrym, it turns out, had dodged both claws due to his training against giants. He is on the ground, stable for now and unconscious.

REF 15 for Aaargh and Tegnar. Success = 2hp fire, failure = 5 hp fire

The troll and ranger have fallen. Othdan has taken some abuse from the wolf and his failure to dodge a bomb. Human stock in Trunau seem tough. He grits his teeth and shouts: "I think I am letting you down."

Cursing under his breath as his companions take heavy hits Yarask moves near one of the wolves and slashes at it with all of his considerable might!

Anyone has anything fire or acid related? We need to stop the troll's regeneration before it can revive! Also: no more healing of any kind? We need to save Dolgryym if possible at all


Err..I could use a torch to cauterize his wounds! Time to invest in cross-class skills

While attacking the troll, Tegnar doesn't see the bomb thrown by the half-orc and is hit by the explosion. Seeing both Dolgrym and Othdan go down, he takes a step away from the wolf Yarask attacked and attacks the wolf near his downed companions.

Yarask deals a great deal of damage to the blinded wolf. Tegnar hits the seeing wolf. Frustrated Othdan can't hit the wolf in a vital area, he strike from the ground.

Skreed throws a bomb in the middle of where he last saw Othdan, Yarask, Tegnar and Dolgrym. He didn't realize Tegnar had shifted to fight the wolf. The bomb explodes splashing them. On the ground, Othdan rolls away and avoids much of the damage, but is Staggered REF Othdan: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16 Skreed retreats back 25' feet after his toss.
The blind wolf strikes back at Yarask, and he manages to connect and knock him prone. 12 damage and prone
The seeing wolf hits Tegnar and knocks him down. 10 damage and prone.
Dolrym takes 5, Yarask Reflex DC15 for half

It seems the effects from the bomb have stopped Dolgrym's bleeding.

"Damn overgrown muts!" Determined to go down swinging, and take one of them with him, Tegnar swings his axe from the ground but gets nothing but dirt.

Tegnar misses, but Yarask hits from the ground savaging his wolf again. Yarask feels one more swing of his will take it out.

Skreed dodges the pit and returns moving 25' back to the fight. The half orc is amazingly agile!! He yells a halt at his wolves.

He shakes off the effects of the dust and pauses to see his vision clear and hits Tegnar with a firebomb {9 damage}. The splash hits Dolgrym leaving the wolf nearby untouched. Skreed directs the wolves to attack.
The blind wolf misses, but the sighted wolf strikes Othdan, who is trying for full defense. The bite misses him, but the exertion leaves him unconscious.

Again and again Yarask rains blows against the wolf wishing for nothing else but to kill the hideous creature and get to its master.

Yarask finishes off the blind wolf, and takes advantage of his demise to stand. Aaargh charges and strikes the wolf causing a nick in his forequarters. The wolf advances to strike.

It's not going well. I don't know how many hp the wolf has still left but it could take me 2 or more turns to do so. And despite retreating Skreed's aim remains the same, so we are not likely to suceed
