Yarask of House Dace
Yarask looks at the others puzzled:"Whatever we do we need to choose quickly or fate will make that decision for us!"
I'm ok with helping Omast first
GM Tribute
The dwarves approach the veteran battle captain as he seems to be sipping from a flask as he shouts taunts at the orcs.
He is finishing setting up two barricades facing the western gate, and has a glaive, halberd, ranseurs, and two spears leaning against them. He has a large boulder and two sets of rolling logs nearby. By the easternmost barricade sharpened spikes from a wooden fence have been set up.
Omast lets out a large bellow as her turns to you. "You fighting with me or agin' me?" Although staggering from what appears to be strong drink, he seems to have made a good start at improvised defenses.
You are at area 11 on the map. You do not know how long the gate will hold.
Yarask of House Dace
Is there any way (meaning check) to sober him up? If there's nothing we can do here at the moment I suppose we can deal with the rest of the orcs
Dolgrym Giantfoe
"How long do you think before they get through? Do we have time to clear out that tower or do we wait here and prepare for the hoard coming through the gate?"
This is going to get messy!
Dolgrym has his longhammer out and is ready for anything that comes charging at them.
Yarask of House Dace
Intimidate check: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16
"Damnation! Let's face the bastards here and now! And Omast... try to sober up a little! Drunken fighting is a sure way to get oneself killed!" roars Karthak while getting behind the barricade and grabbing a spear
Tegnar Giantslayer
Tegnar looks at the boulder that Aggghhh mentions. "I'm not sure we have enough time, but we could push the boulder in front of the gate to slow them down more."
Tegnar helps push the boulder if we decide to do that otherwise he readies his longspear against a charge.
After re-reading the post on the position of various orcs, I think I have it figured out now. I misunderstood what tower was being fortified. I think we make a stand with Omast and then come back to clear the area after we get the last beacon lit if it's still there. Although, I think there are enough buildings on fire that another beacon won't be noticed.
GM Tribute
Another running charge by the orcs, and a large crack appears in the frame of the gate. Omast takes a big swig from his mug. "Don't think you want to be holding a crossbow when the masses come charging through that gate. Polearms will keep em back. I'll knock them around and take the brunt of it up front."
He looks at you, and his face seems to have a moment of lucidity as he speaks: "I'm giving my all for Trunau. I was born here, and if someone dies here it will be me. We funnel them up the middle. I need a polearm on my right, and one were that fellow is."
Omast points to where Tegnar is standing.
"I never found much satisfaction with crossbows. Sort of a sissy weapon if you ask me."
Omast wipes his mouth with his sleeve and shouts at the gate. "You orcs are facing Omast Frum. You die for killing Rodrik. My sword will claim the hearts of you motherless curs and send you to hell!!"
Tegnar Giantslayer
Tegnar nods his head at Ormast and readies his longspear. "I'm ready to skewer some orcs. Aggghhh, you can have my crossbow if you want. If you can make them slip and fall right in front of us we can stab them when they are down or wait till they are bunched up and then put them to sleep. Either way, I think it will help."
GM Tribute
The battering ram hits and the left gate snaps, but does not give completely as the gate is almost completely shattered. An examination of the rock and logs shows that the rock will move down the middle in a ten foot wide path. The logs will move down the sides in a twenty foot wide path.
Position yourselves on the map. I have Aargh by the boulder.

Tegnar 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20
Omast 1d20 ⇒ 6
Enemy 1 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Aargh reacts first, and tries to set the boulder in motion. Move action STR check DC13 needed. If the first fails, a second can be made in the same round.

Dolgrym stands at the barrier ready to attack anyone who comes in range.

Aargh rolls the boulder down as six orcs rush in, dropping the battering ram. Omast stagger away from the boulder and smiles at it approaches the half dozen attackers. The boulder smashes five of the six orcs. As the sixth orc approaches the ramparts, Dolgrym is read to hammer him twice.
Two hammer blows leave him a bloody mess on the ground.
The boulder rolls past the gate and out into the other part of the town.
Yarask of House Dace
Yarask drops the spear and rushes after Omast whielding his greatsword instead:"Stay behind the barricade, IDIOT!"

Omast responds: "I had to move away from the boulder. It was coming my way."
The seconds waiting behind the barricade stretch out to what seems an eternity, but is actually less than a minute. No activity comes from the gaping hole where the gate used to be.....until.....
Another wave of orcs comes rushing into the courtyard.
At the moment, they have cover--see map -- note what weapons are in your hands when you post from now on. Omast in hands = greatsword

Looks like four! Augh leans his spear against the barriacde and hefts the crossbow Tengar gave him. I don't think we should use the logs against them Augier will hold his shot until the orcs come into view and then fire.
Crossbow: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 41d8 ⇒ 7

Um...I'm sorry
Tegnar Giantslayer
Tegnar spots the next group of orcs preparing to enter and readies his longspear to attack the first to approach. Will brace for charge if they do.

Addl Damage(charge): 1d8 ⇒ 3 Do I roll a 2nd die for double damage against a charge for a brace weapon or use my first roll?
"Agreed, Aggghhh. I think leaving the logs where they are will help funnel them to the middle. If they try to climb them, they should start rolling on their own."
GM Tribute
The previous roll was not needed as reach weapons went first. If a conditional roll is not needed, it has saved time.
The three orcs move forward, but stop short of the barricade.
grenade vs AC5: 1d20 + 5 - 6 ⇒ (19) + 5 - 6 = 18
The fourth orc takes shelter behind the gate and lobs a grenade. The grenade is made of clay with a red bulls eye in the top and bright crimson fuse (pink dot on map). It lands, a perfect throw by the orc hanging back.
As the orcs close, Tegnar staggers one. Only his ferocity keeps him afoot as a crossbow goes wide. Omast hits one with a javelin, staggering him as holds on to his two-handed sword in a sweaty, loose grip. "To the grave with you, dog!!"
Omast javelin: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 241d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

Karthak moves away from the barricade but not before trying to push Omast away:"MOVE! Do you want to die before getting rid of this orc scum???"
GM Tribute
Omast moves back. 1boom: 1d3 ⇒ 1
The grenade explodes, shattering the barricade and sending the logs tumbling down the hill to land against the wall. The concussive force is massive, and luckily none of you are in the destructive radius. The orc calmly readies his weapon and shouts. "The dwarves are routed!!"
A cheer goes up from the rear.
The orc at the wall calmly knocks a massive bow and waits.
Dwarves up
Dolgrym Giantfoe
Dolgrym moves back to where he was to fill the gap, longhammer at the ready and readies an attack on anyone who moves into range.
Dwarven Longhammer: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 4 + 1 = 6 Damage: 2d6 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (3, 4) + 3 + 1 = 11

Yarask of House Dace
Considering how Yarask's movement is 30'' he should be able to charge at the orc nearest to the barricade on the map, so he charges!"
With a roar of fury Yarask charges the nearest orc near the wreckage of the barricade sword raised high over his head!
Charge attack roll: 1d20 + 6 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 6 + 2 + 1 = 28
Damage roll: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (4, 6) + 4 = 14
Yarask of House Dace
Yarask cherges the upcoming orc but is hit square in the chest by the other one whielding a bow. Despite his dwarven hardiness the barbarian falls in a puddle of blood.
Stabilize check: 1d20 + 3 - 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 - 3 = 13
Yarask stabilizes at -3 hp
Tegnar Giantslayer
Wow, what kind of bow does 1d12? If all the barricades are gone, I believe I can also charge and reach the closest orc.
Edit: Nevermind, I guess that was a readied greataxe. I get the bow attack.
Seeing Yarask go down, Tegnar yells and charges the same orc.
Attack(longspear): 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 4 + 1 = 23

Omast rushes up and moves the orc that dropped Yarask with his great axe away, knocking him fifteen feet back before he can swing at Yarask again.
CM reposition: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26
The huge bow fires at Tegnar as he closes.
bow: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 201d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
Then the orc fires again at Tegnar
bow: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 71d8 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Tegnar is struck by the first arrow, and dodges the second.
Dwarves up--one orc left!!
Yarask is unconscious, but stable. Omast shouts "I got a healing potion for him, and another ale for me!!
The orc rolled a greataxe crit, quite a lucky one
Dolgrym Giantfoe
"So much for playing it safe!
Dolgrym then charges forward with his longhammer and attacks to bowman.
Dwarven Longhammer: 1d20 + 4 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 4 + 1 + 2 = 11 Damage: 2d6 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (6, 5) + 3 + 1 = 15
The dice hate me.
GM Tribute
Things are going fine until Aggghhh tries to take the ale, and both Omast and the wizard begin to struggle for the bottles, and it seems possible the potion could be dropped in the struggle.
The orc dodges the hammer, and from cover shoots at Dolgrym without provoking a retaliation. Leaving his defenses open in the charge, another arrow bites deep (charge = -2 AC).
orc archer: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 151d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
Dolgrym sees nine orcs heading to the gate, they will be there in about 15 seconds (two more rounds--you have two full rounds to act before the 9 orcs are at the gate).
As Omast and Aggghhh seem to be in violent disagreement about who gets the flask, the simple handoff turns into a mess. The potion is not administered as they argue.
Omast snarls at Aggghhh in frustration. "You are not here to give me orders. Take the potion and not the ale!! And get back behind the second barricade. Running out of prepared defenses is suicide."
The fight seems to have turned for the worst after the initial easy victory over the first wave.
ORDER of Action Round 6

As the potion is administered it is a strong one (Cure Moderate Wounds)-- Yarask can roll.
Yarask of House Dace
Cure moderate wounds: 2d8 + 3 ⇒ (8, 7) + 3 = 18
The potion has the surprising effect of reviving Yarask who grunts as he recovers consciousness:"Who did this will... PAY!" he mumbles as his senses return to him.
Yarask back to 15 hp, I hate to be this huge of a drain on the party resources but I need to ask for another cure with the wand, also I'm probably going to send Yarask into prolonges rage when the orcs clash with us again
