Ali manages to keep wriggling enough to not be totally helpless.
this time, she uses the BoF to gain an attack advantage (+2 to hit). She uses the last of her arcane power, and her hand becomes enveloped in frost--and she tries to touch her captor.

actually, that was my CMD to avoid being pinned, I don’t think that’s an action. AFAIK Ali is still grappled
alright, points of order here.
1) the beastie tried to pin Ali, meaning he had to make a grapple check to maintain the grapple. Its result was 21. My CMB is 10 (12 with BoF AC bonus), which I thought was an opposed roll: I got a 27. Did I resolve that correctly? If so, does that mean the thing failed to maintain the grapple, or simply failed to apply the Pinned condition?
2) Either way, Ali should be either free, or grappled but not pinned. And in either case, should be able to make a melee touch attack, no?

| GM thunderspirit |

It's not an opposed roll, it's vs. Ali's CMD. It maintains the grapple, but failed to pin (it can attempt to pin as a free action). So I used Ali's roll as her escape attempt via CMB, which due to Davosh's blessing of fervor was enough to get out. Her touch attack would require a standard action she used for the CMB.

Davosh's Spellcraft check from Scene 24 is enough to recognize this cauldron's magical effects.
Davosh surmises that the spices on the table can be added to the stew in the cauldron to produce a different magical effect if the stew is consumed.
Such a stew must be consumed using the ladle on the table; if removed from the cauldron in any other way, the stew becomes nonmagical. Inside the cauldron, the stew retains its magical effect for 1 minute or until another spice is added to the stew, changing the effect. The effects of the stew are instantaneous once it is consumed. An individual can only receive the benefits of each of the spices once per day; further doses of the same spiced stew have no effect.
