Kappi opens the door, revealing an uneven set fo stone steps that descend into the inky black.

Kappi leads the way with Vojtek close behind. Vojtek holds a torch aloft to light the middle aged man's way.
"Do you think there could be traps here little brother? Remember to check as we walk. You may not know it, but age will dull the wits, so you might need reminding now and again."
Vojtek ponders silently whether Ali might be able to take the role of nagging Kappi to do various routine tasks, as he recalls the women of his village doing that for the older men.

Vojtek Wartooth |

At Edward's disapproving look, Vojtek reminds Edward that elders typically gain wisdom from their years to compensate for their diminished cognitive abilities and slowed reflexes... Kappi has been thrust into his decrepit state without the benefit of those years to shape him.

Davosh the Wanderer |

"Hold! Stairs have given us nothing but trouble lad. Let's look at these other doors first."

Kappi Matarito |

"Hold! Stairs have given us nothing but trouble lad. Let's look at these other doors first."
Kappi freezes at Davosh's command. He looks back at OjosLocos and steps back. He closes the door and heads over to a different door to investigate. Moved characters on the map.
He begins his routine of checking the door. If there are no traps he opens it.

GM thunderspirit |

The door opens with a breeze of cold air, revealing a hallway that winds off the the party's right ahead.
Kappi ties a rope to his pack, slipping ahead. He comes back shortly to report that the hallway leads to another flight of steps down.

Kappi Matarito |

The Varisian rogue finding stairs stops, he heads back to report his findings. He does wonder if the cold breeze means outside?
Yet, he now tries door number three. He pauses to make the wings of Desna over his brow. Then he checks the door for traps.
Perception 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (16) + 18 = 34
Assuming no traps, he opens it and does a short reconnaissance.

GM thunderspirit |

Kappi checks another door, this time finding a flight that descends more gradually and ends in a closed door.
Map updated.

Davosh the Wanderer |

Davosh thinks for a bit. "Kappi, doors are less scary than stairs right now." He points to the door in the southeast option.

Kappi Matarito |

Davosh thinks for a bit. "Kappi, doors are less scary than stairs right now." He points to the door in the southeast option.
The middle aged lad nods his head at Davosh's wisdom. The rogue leads the party to the door Moved people on the map
He gives the door a quick check for traps
Perception/search 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (12) + 18 = 30
And if safe, he opens it

GM thunderspirit |

As Kappi studies the door, he notes that it is only just resting in the doorway, as if rigged up to be an alarm of some sort. The door appears to be made of stone and would likely give the rogue trouble trying to move it.

Davosh the Wanderer |

"Vojtek, can you do this? Kappi is there a way to disable this trick?"

GM thunderspirit |

Kappi realizes that it's not a trap exactly (meaning no Disable Device check). But a successful STR check would likely work.

Vojtek Wartooth |

Strength: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
Vojtek's wiry frame coils for the effort. As he strains, his tendons stand out in stark contrast to his weathered skin.
When nothing happens, he becomes quietly enraged... his arms and legs start shaking violently and with a draconic ejaculation he heaves with all his considerable might!
RAGING Strength!!!: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25
LOL ejaculation

GM thunderspirit |

I'd make that canon, but someone would need to clean up the dungeons afterward, so...
Vojtek's anger gets the best of him, and he bursts through the stone door!
The remains of a giant wooden statue, carved to resemble a stooped and ancient bedlame, lie broken and scattered across the floor of this chamber. A set of massive iron double doors stands in the south wall, their facades engraved with a procession of humanoid figures. At the top of the doors, the figures are young women in the bloom of youth, but as the parade continues down the doors, the figures age, turning into pregnant matrons, stooped crones, and finally at the bottom into capering skeletons that vanish into a gaping tomb.
Of more immediate concern is a pair of frost giants, on the left and on the right, who snap to attention at the intrusion.

The northman rushes over Ali's prone body, and finally finds an appropriate outlet for his chauvinism.

wasn't that more than a 5' step from Vojtek? If so I will let Kappi tell you again :P
It was, yes. :-)
Would also be nice to know what Davosh is targeting with his Evil Eye, and Edward's and Kappi's actions. Asking for a GM friend.

Davosh the Wanderer |

Blue, Will DC 22 to resist.

Yes, but Evil Eye only targets one specific thing. Which was not specified, thankyouverymuch.

Davosh the Wanderer |

In my head I typed Misfortune. MY bad! Using MISFORTUNE

GM thunderspirit |

Forgot my ESP pills today. :-)
Plus I tweaked my back yesterday doing essentially NOTHING and my back is sore as f*+~, so I'm quite cranky.
Management regrets the tone and will try and do better.
Also, I'm counting DC 21 on that hex. Where am I missing an additional +1?
DC 21/22/whatever Misfortune: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24 ...Not that it matters, when I roll like that.

Well now that I see we have issues with damage.

Acrobatics(avoid AoOs) 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (14) + 17 = 31
He bounces on the balls of his feet then with sudden motion he GOES. Sliding, lurching, spinning, rolling, the rogue moves with the graceless flopping of a turkey falling down a hillside.
Yet, moving past Vojtek's position Kappi makes a single strike with his blade.

Despite Kappi's appearance of buffoonery, his act avoids the giants' retaliation...and his blade sinks home!
Green takes a mighty swing at Vojtek...
Awesome Blow: CMB vs. CMD 28: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (16) + 17 = 33

Could anyone possibly get into flanking position w/ Kappi? He is 2-3Xs more effective that way
As per slack TS guessed where you wanted to be, after you hit, you could move up to 30’. So with your acrobatics roll from the previous round and positioning attack I’m sure you could be in anysquare around the giant you wanted to be.

TS isnt making it easy on us. There have been so few fights where its even been possible to flank.

GM thunderspirit |

The three statues in particular include a lot of close-quarter fighting, so yeah, Kappi, you've been nerfed somewhat.

Ali'yanah D'ohr'hein |

Ali lies on the ground, staggered by the violence, literally 0 hp. She knows another blow will kill her--and she'll suffer two such blows if she rises. She is out of options...
Calling upon her arcane powers, she recalls the Haste spell, then tries to cast it without opening herself to an attack.

DC 21 Will (Blue): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15
Davosh's hex takes hold! Evil, evil eye!
Ali manages to concentrate enough to get the rest of the party hasted, then begins to bleed out! Your kind and generous GM will guess that she wanted to exclude the giants, because otherwise this could get very fun for the GM in short order.
Vojtek goes totally defensive, getting an AC boost (+1) from Ali's spell!
Edward, Kappi!

Kappi Matarito |

Round 3?
Kappi curses at the poor luck. He had to move into flanking position with Vojtek yet his dragony friend was knocked down and out of place.
His spirits were starting to sag but then he felt an eldritch energy infuse his limbs. His knife was suddenly in his offhand. Muscles spasming and twitching he launched blindingly fast cuts and thrusts at the giant.
