Be safe, V.

Oi!
On Aug 24th I was activated for Hurricane Harvey.
We stayed at a Level 1 activation (the highest level) through Hurricanes Irma, Jose, Maria, and Nate. While Jose and Nate let us off easy, the devastation wrought by Harvey, Irma, and Maria was epic. Just as we were looking at standing down and handing the baton to the Joint Field Offices on Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, there was a Firenadopocalypse in California. While it is still ongoing, we have gone to a Level 3 activation and dropped from 24 hour ops to day shift only.
During the response efforts I served as a FEMA Watch Officer and representative in the National Response Coordination Center (NRCC) in DC for about 75% of the time. The other 25% of the time I served in my role as an Army Officer in the NRCC as the liaison officer to FEMA for the Office of the Secretary of Defense. It was quite an honor to serve in each role, and gave me the chance to see the whole spectrum of response operations. Changing my suit for a uniform and back again several times a week was fun, and kept my perspective fresh, even as the weeks dragged into months.
Anyway, it's been quite a rush - we did some fine work, political grandstanding notwithstanding. I'd ask you to push back a bit if you hear anyone question the response on PR. Please tell them you have it on good authority that the efforts of the men and women on the ground certainly saved countless lives and relieved human suffering and misery in great measure. I couldn't be more proud of the two organizations I served with during the past months...
Those who rushed into the breach, both in and out of uniform, and who continue to serve countless hours in the most austere conditions this side of war, deserve our collective thanks. They are doing yeoman's work without pause. While they still toil to bring a semblance of civilization back from devastation, please keep them and the survivors they serve in your thoughts and prayers.
I had my first day off since August 24th on Saturday, and I've slept for many many hours while doing little more than eating and watching tv in the intervening periods of semi-consciousness.
Long story short, I'm back and I see I have some catching up to do. Thanks for being patient, and I'll tell you some "war" stories over a frosty beverage when next we meet!

GM thunderspirit |

Awesomesauce, my man. Thanks for your tireless service.

GM thunderspirit |

For claiming the amulets from Baba Yaga's Ravens Three (and overcoming the associated challenges), the party is awarded 17500 xp.
(This includes a bonus for not triggering the suffocation trap in the chalice room.)

Vojtek Wartooth |

I’ll be on vacation in Mexico through the 20th. Feel free to autopilot at will! My flight is tomorrow morning so go for it.

Davosh the Wanderer |

Blanket post for all my PbP games:
My schedule through next week is iffy at best.
I'll be offline from this afternoon until Monday morning, likely not checking games.
I'll be hear at full strength Monday until Tuesday afternoon.
I'll be pretty much completely offline from Tuesday 21 November until Monday 27 November.
Then I return to normal until winter break.

Ali'yanah D'ohr'hein |

Am I the only one thinking there is no possible way in heaven or hell that we can win this fight with frost giants? Do we have a "run" option here??

Davosh the Wanderer |

We can't.... He's obligated to kill us.

GM thunderspirit |

7500 xp awarded for the frost giant encounter.

Davosh the Wanderer |

Posting my holiday schedule:
I'll be posting at full speed from today until Friday afternoon. After that I'll be completely MIA from December 22-26.
I'll return on the 27th, albeit with a slightly slower pace, likely only once or twice each day until January 2nd, at which point I'll be back full speed for the foreseeable future.

GM thunderspirit |

For overcoming the centaur encounter and befriending Korag Kaag, the party earns a story award of 7500 xp.

Kappi Matarito |

Any thoughts on how the party will continue with out Joe/Ed?
He has come up with an amazing "healbot" character. Though Davosh has some healing ability so we could get along with out him if need be.
Does he stay with the party for now?

Davosh the Wanderer |

That is a big question, as we are woefully under equipped to heal.
1. We grin and bear it.
2. We bot Edward.
3. We ask the GM to let me switch my level 7 feat for leadership and I make an oracle follower of Davosh.

GM thunderspirit |

Yes, a CLW wand is available.
I'm not a big fan of botting.
Looking at Leadership, Davosh taking it may not be the best choice; his score would be 7, then -2 for Liska and -1 for moving around a lot.
It also brings up the point that Edward is the diplomat of the group. Not having one will make life difficult.
This is, of course, just my take. I'm open to suggestions.

Vojtek Wartooth |

Let me talk to Joe to better gauge the length of time here... if it truly is indefinite or if it is looking to be really significant, maybe recruiting someone from the Slackverse might be an option. Offer them to adopt Edward as an opening bid?

Davosh the Wanderer |

Oh yeah (I'm not used to playing low CHA characters.)
1. Let's get a bead on Joe.
2. Then we potentially recruit.

Davosh the Wanderer |

Losing both those roles is hard for even a veteran group of players to lose. If a cohort is an option it ought to be someone who can handle the extra lifting.
Maybe we recruit in Slack?

Ali'yanah D'ohr'hein |

I kinda forgot Ed is the party diplomat. I know Davosh/Kap/Vojtek are pretty terrible for anything diplomatic.
Not sure how much Ali can contribute there...
average. On a good day.

GM thunderspirit |

10,000 xp for defeating the kuchrima encounter. Which includes some bonus xp, and still seems light.
I'm sure those CR 8 each monsters are balanced, though. >.<

Davosh the Wanderer |

Just a quick heads up. I'll be on business travel from April 19 - May 2. I expect to be able to post from my phone, but will not have access to a full computer (or if I'm the DM, the adventure.)
My current goal is to post 1/Day, though at GMT +1 it could be at odd hours. By all means, bot me if needed.
If this is a Windy Fellowship Lodge Game, I'll be on Slack, but likely only reading.

True. Odd for me though. I'm looking to do maybe 0600 and 2230

GM thunderspirit |

What kind of work trip? Isn't class still in session?

Davosh the Wanderer |

I'm missing only 3 days of class. There's a school wide vacation for the large chunk of it. I'm chaperoning kids on a WWII trip to the UK, France, Germany, and Belgium.

GM thunderspirit |

That. Is. Awesome.

GM thunderspirit |

I am at a convention starting this afternoon through Sunday. Since Davosh is in Europe, let's consider this on pause until at least Monday, as he is the only one who can currently see the remaining wisp.

Slappy Wundershart |

Yeah the creator of this one is a @!&@$&@#. I mean who really puts flying creatures and DR for levels 1-3 as enemies.
I just thank the DM for being a bit understanding.
Of course I remember first ed the temple of elemental evil and queen of spiders. As pretty deadly.

GM thunderspirit |

Defeating the Wisps yields 6000 xp.

GM thunderspirit |

For defeating the Witch Tree guardian, the party earns 7500 xp.

Davosh the Wanderer |

Boom! Who handles XP tracking in this campaign?
I have to pee.
Who am I in this channel?
