Kuraishimo withdraws his wand and watches the rear flank fpr any sort of ambush. He sees nothing of concern for the time being.
Hamaillii lashes out with her deadly whip and it hits the nearest beetle, tearing open a gash across the top of it. Her whip comes back with a luminous ichor on it and the beetle stops moving.
Faldoc enters the room and lets an arrow fly, but it deflects off the hard carapace of the beetle.

Gwion fires an arrow, piercing the beetle's exoskeleton, but it continues to work it mandibles.
With a mighty swing of his hammer, Ygdnur smacks a beetle with such force that it essentially explodes. The glowing ichor splashes across the room, leaving a constellations of glowing spots across the

Anis pokes Faldoc from behind, giving him some pointers.

This place is just one room full of danger after another. Good thing we are strong in numbers. My lady, did you happen to discover anything in the room before the beetles accosted you? Somewhere else we need to examine?

Gwion searches the room. Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
"Well played lads, well played. I thought there were four Beatles...I guess tonight there's only three." Gwion looks at the glowing splatter about the room. "Looks like we could use their innards as a light source in a pinch...although I don't know if I want to carry around a giant bug."

![]() |

Well, well. Finally some reward for our trouble. Faldoc shows the group what he has discovered. Would anyone like to make an attempt at discovering what it is that we have found?

Gwion exmines the bracers and concludes that they are magical bracers that bolsters one's armor.
Aura moderate conjuration; CL 7th
Slot wrists; Price 1,000 gp (+1), 4,000 gp (+2), 9,000 gp (+3), 16,000 gp (+4), 25,000 gp (+5), 36,000 gp (+6), 49,000 gp (+7), 64,000 gp (+8); Weight 1 lb.
DESCRIPTION
These items appear to be wrist or arm guards. They surround the wearer with an invisible but tangible field of force, granting him an armor bonus of +1 to +8, just as though he were wearing armor. Both bracers must be worn for the magic to be effective.
Alternatively, bracers of armor can be enchanted with armor special abilities. See Table: Armor Special Qualities for a list of abilities. Special abilities usually count as additional bonuses for determining the market value of an item, but do not improve AC. Bracers of armor cannot have a modified bonus (armor bonus plus armor special ability bonus equivalents) higher than +8. Bracers of armor must have at least a +1 armor bonus to grant an armor special ability. Bracers of armor cannot have any armor special abilities that add a flat gp amount to their cost. Bracers of armor and ordinary armor do not stack. If a creature receives a larger armor bonus from another source, the bracers of armor cease functioning and do not grant their armor bonus or their armor special abilities. If the bracers of armor grant a larger armor bonus, the other source of armor ceases functioning.

I don't think anyone needs the bracers, unless we encounter incorporeal enemies.

Dare we try the door across the hall? Faldoc will leave this room and stride over to the other door in the hallway.

![]() |

Thank you very much dear Gwion! What a nice wand, i can´t feel or see anything of the injury!
At full HP again
Hamailii then follows Faldoc and brings herself in position next to the door.

![]() |

Seems harmless enough. Let's see what is behind Door #2, shall we? Faldoc opens the door and scans what is found on the other side.

![]() |

Go already or we will never find out. But beware, somewhere here must be something that turned the Pathfinder we found outside into her warped form, presumably something undead.

GM Tektite |

Faldoc opens the door and peers inside. He sees a large room. This large room looks like it was once a scribing chamber. The remains of many desks are scattered about, and amid the rubble is a number of long-dried inkwells, other writing utensils, and scraps of paper. These things are covered with black mold and patches of light green mushrooms.

![]() |

Is every room in this accursed place covered in mold?

![]() |

Hmm, perhaps some of the writings we seek might be found amid the rubbish thrown about the room. Since I know I won't be able to stop you, I might as well help with the search. Faldoc switches to his rapier. He then will go over to wherever the largest clump of papers are and search that area for something worthwhile.

Peering into the room, Ygdnur gives a grimace. "Nothing like a true cave... this place is a wasteland of filth. Not at all like Highhelm!" He barely steps inside the door, mostly just to be ready in case some more of the undead decide to show up. He grips his warhammer with anticipation.

GM Tektite |

As the party searches around the room, suddenly amid a particularly thick patch of fungus in the southeast sits a pale and crusty froglike humanoid. It trembles and twitches as it stands and lurches forward.
His skin is patchy and dry, like a squid left out in the sun and sand. His bulbous eyes open, and light stabs out from them.

Hamailii steps up to the froglike creature, averting her eyes and thrashing after it with her morningstar. Also she cries out:
Let´s surround it and push it in the corner!
Morningstar: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 71d8 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 121d100 ⇒ 31 20% miss chance
I take some liberties and share the work i just did with you:
Blinded: The creature cannot see. It takes a –2 penalty to Armor Class, loses its Dexterity bonus to AC (if any), and takes a –4 penalty on most Strength- and Dexterity-based skill checks and on opposed Perception skill checks. All checks and activities that rely on vision (such as reading and Perception checks based on sight) automatically fail. All opponents are considered to have total concealment (50% miss chance) against the blinded character. Blind creatures must make a DC 10 Acrobatics skill check to move faster than half speed. Creatures that fail this check fall prone. Characters who remain blinded for a long time grow accustomed to these drawbacks and can overcome some of them.
How to avoid it:
Averting Eyes: The opponent avoids looking at the creature's face, instead looking at its body, watching its shadow, tracking it in a reflective surface, etc. Each round, the opponent has a 50% chance to avoid having to make a saving throw against the gaze attack. The creature with the gaze attack, however, gains concealment against that opponent.

Ygdnur shields his eyes at the blast of light, apparently closing them just in time. He quickly joins the elf in the battle, knowing that she can be quite deadly with that whip.
