Rysky, throw your character idea at me :)

@GM - do you know if we will be anywhere soon to liquidate treasure and possibly do some shopping? Astein is hurting for spells to add to his spell deck.

Silver Crusade

She/They/He

Okies, was waiting for you to give me the okay before I started nailing stuff down hard :3

Was thinking of either a human or tiefling descended from an Azi, those evil ass dragons (vestigial snakes!) and for the class hmm, torn between

Barbarian (Jungle Rager) (Maybe reflavor the Linnorm Death Curse Rage Powers as Azi Curses?)

Brawler (Mutagenic Mauler)

Bloodrager (Id Rager)

Ranger (Divine Hunter)

Slayer (Deliverer)

Will definitely have something down by the end of the day, any suggestions?

It'll be interesting to see how you fit the Azi background in. The Id Rager, Divine Hunter, or Deliverer could fit in well, depending on which deity they work for. To be honest, I'd have to look into the brawler, especially the Mutagenic Mauler more, since I've never really spent much time with them. Jungle rager could work, but I would think would be pretty hampered by the fact their abilities would be limited on the deck of a ship. A Slayer of Besmara, taking the goddess' vengeance on pirates? That'd fit in really well.

Silver Crusade

She/They/He

Okies, hmm.

(Though the Jungle Rager name is slightly misleading since you pick a favored terrain, which can include water, instead of just having it relate to the jungle).

As for deities? Hmm yes there's Besmera, and also Sekhmet.

For the dragon side of things there's Dahak (probably a no) Apsu, and Smiad.

Can't recall, did we end up adding in background skills or not?

*EDIT
NM, figured out my skill point screwiness. Updated character sheet posted.

Rysky, have a character ready? It'd be a good spot now to intro a new character easily.

Shadow Lodge

Yep, really sorry for the delay, things got a little hectic over the weekend.

I should have everything up in about an hour or so.

Who's tracking our loot on the spreadsheet and how much are we divvying up? I have a few purchases I need to make. XD

There might be something at Rickety's where you can cash in, and shop. Rysky, still need a character from you.

@GM: The Whale Skull, can you help me find what spells it has on it? Does it have a spellbook related sale value once Astein puts anything he can in his deck? Is the scrimshaw shark jaw the same thing?

All,

By my calculations, the total sale value of all goods is 18921.5 which means 4730.375 each from sale plus 219.22 in coin for a total of 4949.595 gold each.

This includes the sale of the "claimed" items, including a certain tri-corne hat with large sentimental value and the returning harpoon that is more than a quarter of our total haul value.

In my mind, the easiest way to divide these things up is to subtract the value of any found items you want to keep from your 4949.595 share of the gold then keep the rest as coin. If Garavan or anyone wants to keep the harpoon (the only item I see that is worth more than a share) then he can borrow funds from another PC to cover that item and any purchases he wants to make ashore. Astein will generally be willing to make the loan if no one else wants to.

I would encourage people to buy items off the list if possible. Since we get them at half-price and you can always sell them later for the same amount, it is really like storing wealth in a useful form. Anything useful should be kept until we need to spend the money on other things.

I definitely suggest we purchase the potions of cure moderate if nothing else.

Further, if we can find a place to sell them would dedicate party funds to purchase at some wands of infernal healing as party items.

As an aside, these modules seem to cry out for crafting magic item feats as there is a fair amount of downtime at sea. Astein may look at taking Wondrous Items with his next feat. Maybe someone else could cover Arms and Armor?

Thoughts?

If we agree to this, please list out anything you'd like to purchase and if any two want the same item we can use dice to randomize who gets it.

Astein would like to purchase:

Spyglass for 375 gold.
Bracers of armor for 500 gold.
One potion of cure moderate wounds for 150
The Shackles of Compliance for 1405.
One alchemist fire for 10.
(leaving 2,509.59 cash).

If no one else claims then he will also take the Ring of Swimming for 1250, but since he can now levitate once a day it really isn't as necessary for him.

The magic weapons and the amulet of natural armor should be claimed by melee types so we have magic weapons if needed, especially that cool cutlass - are we pirates or not?!

I'll pass on the harpoon.

I have no need for any of that, I can cast mage armor so bracers are of little use till they top +4s for me.

And so you know Astein I already have craft wondrous, took it at level 3 for lack of anything that appealed to me more. It will be a good idea to have the spells needed for crafting available until I can get my spellcraft higher.

I do think that buying the potions is a good idea, also.

Beyond that, I can't say there's anything too appealing for me in the current list of gear -- like everyone, armour boosts would be useful -- but that's about it.

female aasimar (musetouched) | sor 4 |HP: 22/22 | AC:14 (17) T:13; FF:11 (14); CMB +2, CMD:15 | Fort:+2; Ref:+4; Will:+2 | Init:+3; Perc:-1 Glitterdust (dc 16) 0/1; Heavenly Fire 7/7; Spells: lvl 1 5/7; lvl 2 2/4

Now that I realized I should look at the sheet instead of the post I think the potions should simply be kept as party loot, say take the total and divide it between us. Beyond that I agree that melee should take the amulet and magic weapons if possible, if not we can sell the weapons anyway and use the funds to buy/create other things.

Yeah, please go on. I'm sorry for holding things up, I really have no excuse for not getting my shit together. If I don't have anything up in a couple of hours then I won't hold it against you for getting someone else.

Hi guys,

Sorry for the disappearing act. There have been a stack of changes at work: our group was re-org'd, got moved to a new department - which doubled our area of responsibilities, and we acquired a new Director with 'big ideas'. I went heads down to knock out some critical objectives hoping that I could come up for breath in just a couple weeks *hollow laugh*. Unfortunately, more stuff keeps getting tossed on my plate faster than I can clear projects. At this point, I'm going to be working like crazy until some time in May - at a guess.

So, I'm going to have to drop out of every game for the foreseeable future. If you've already replaced my character or dropped me... that is totally fine and I apologize for the inconvenience and for not digging myself out of this work pile earlier to let you know my situation. If you've been generous enough to NPC my character in my absence - thank you for keeping the faith and I'm doubly sorry that I can't come back to pick up where I left off. You have every right to berate me, so feel free to scourge me via PM. I won't put up a fight, I've earned it.

Again, I'm quite sorry for leaving you all in the lurch and I'll hope to play with you good folks again at some point in the future.

Thanks,
~sr

So... we used the plunder to pay for the re-outfit. Do we owe the crew any cash? Seems to me we owe them something, but I have no idea what. Thoughts?

Kind of winging this off of the cost of a "skilled person" which would be 3sp/day, 20 crew would be the minimum for your ship, with 30 recommended.

So 60-90 sp, 6-9gp/day for 30 days would be 180gp per month.

Or you could do some sort of "ship's share", but that'd be up to you guys to figure out.

There's also an optional method that the AP gives, which is to surrender 1pt of plunder each time you sell plunder, which would be the crew's share of the loot.

I don't think we're going to get Rysky into the fold, so if there are any other players that you have in mind to recruit, now would be the time. Barring that, I could open it up to general recruiting, but I prefer recommendations.

Davina, I agree in the future. But for this time we don't have plunder to split and I want the crew fat and happy so Astein will pony up the gold to make it happen.

Let me check with a few players I know...

Just making sure we're all on the same page as far as treasure.

(Assuming we can now liquidate) We each originally received a portion of 4949.59. However we had to pool money to sell the cutlass in order to pay for ship repairs.

This leaves everyone with 4529.72 to spend in town.

Asten paid the crew for 180.
Spyglass for 375 gold.
Bracers of armor for 500 gold.
One potion of cure moderate wounds for 150
The Shackles of Compliance for 1405.
One alchemist fire for 10.

He has decided to pass on the shackles of compliance.

That leaves him with 3,314.

Sorry for my recent silence. Just recovered from a nasty flu that kept me down all week.

However, yes, Garavaen would be looking to do some spending. ;)

Total treasure after liquidating EVERYTHING not claimed, is 10129 gold. Split 4 ways is 2532 plus the 219.22 in coin would be a total of 2751.22 to spend, not 4529. If Astein takes the spyglass, bracers, potion and alchemist's fire, it leaves a resale total of 9243.5, which leaves 2310.88 for each person to spend if you liquidate everything that hasn't been claimed yet (doesn't include the coin which is already split on the sheet.)

Sczarni

Male Human (Varisian) lvl 4 Witch (Cartomancer) 11/26 hp; AC 12, Touch 12, Flat 10; Ref +3, Will +4, Fort +2; Perc +1; Init +2

@GM. The division is based on not claiming things.

Nothing is claimed. If you want it, you buy it from your share from sale value.

Lantern Lodge

[|]CG Aasimar | Shaman4 | HP:23/23 | AC: 14/ FF 14/ T 10 (barkskin) | Fort: +1 (+2 necro/death effects) Ref: 1 Will: +9| Perception: +15 | Dark Vision | Init: 0 [|]

That was my understanding.

So in Ri'el's case, he would get 3229gp (4529-1300) and the Sandara's tricorne. I think Astein gets alot less gold, but gets the items he claimed.

The only problem with basing it on liquidating before anything is claimed is that Garavaen already has the returning harpoon, which by itself is worth more than any one share. If you aren't basing it on liquidating everything that isn't claimed, and basing it on liquidating everything, Garavaen will either have to come up with 500 gp to give back, or give up the harpoon.

Garavan?

Also, I think we should pool funds to buy a wand of infernal healing or cure light wounds.

For some odd reason, I was told there were new posts, and my post about not wanting the harpoon seems to have gone missing.

I've had a few of my posts get eaten too. I also need to apologize for the delay here. My parents came by unexpectedly last week.

Guys, bear with me for a while here. I was just made a PM of a huge project at work, at the same time as baseball season started for the High School I coach for. It's just tough finding free time (especially with a 1 year old at home). It should level out shortly, and I'll get back to regular posts, just most likely in the evening instead of the morning now.

Should we look into trying to get a melee type into the campaign? I think that combat showed how bad we need a pure melee type.

If we don't want to grab a new player, I could rebuild Astein as a Hexcrafter Magus and keep everything else the same.

Agreed..

I could swap Garavaen out for a melee type, if need be -- though it might be good to get a roll call to see who all is still here before any swapping or alterations.

Ri'el is an occassional secondary melee, but yeah we will benefit from a primary melee.

If Sandara is required for plot-reasons to leave the campaign at some point, however, I am happy to have Ri'el leave with her and then change him into a new melee character. I would actually have trouble justifying Ri'el staying with the crew is Sandara wants or needs to be somewhere else away from the crew.

Slightly amending the above post to make more sense. I was in a hurry and distracted when typing it. XD

I was referred here by Astein.

Given the game is in progress already, I don't know if it makes sense for Bill to have ended up at Formidably Maid, or take some other approach to introducing him to the party. So the final parts of the backstory need to be written to fill in that gap.

The plan with Bill is to be a human fighter (Unarmed fighter archetype), taking the Dockside Brawler campaign trait, improved disarm line of feats, and as feats permit the grapple line as well. He won't be a high damage dealer as his preferred method of fighting will be unarmed, but I expect a 19-20 AC and enough HP to take some hits.

Assuming this character/back story is approved by the GM and other players, I'll build a stat block for him and create an alias.

Bill Pater Backstory:

Bill (or Billy to his mother) grew up as the sole child of Sandra Pater, and an unknown father. His mother never did talk about his father, though Bill suspects his father forced himself upon his mother. They grew up poor, Sandra working in local taverns or doing menial work for wealthy merchants or noblemen. These jobs often ended when some patron at the tavern, or the merchant thought Sandra's striking beauty would please them in other capacities. Sometimes this meant simply moving on to the next job in town, other times it meant hastily fleeing to a new town before to many questions could be asked about how so-and-so got a knife wound to their arm, and was found unconscious in a back alley.

This lifestyle left Bill with few he'd call friend, and to the chargin of his mother he was prone to pick fights with the other boys anywhere the happened to be living. Bill received a number of harsh beating from angry parents, but they were only run out of town once, when he broke another boys leg.

At the age of 8 he begin earning his own living in part, helping move goods at the docks, or the local farmers gather their harvests, or whatever other odd jobs he could get. These were usually manual labor, though a few discerning employeers realized that physical strength wasn't Bill's only quality and sometimes put him to work helping with shipping records and accounting ledgers.

At 15 he and his mother were hired on with a caravan taking goods to Cheliax. His mother as a cook, and Bill as an inexperienced guard. The caravan captain, Captain Dane, took a liking to the youth, and taught him the basics with a blade during their travels. Despite this training, Bill still felt more comfortable with his fists, and never drew his weapon during the one attempt by brigands to raid the caravan, instead breaking the noses of two of the bandits, leaving them unconcscious.

Among the caravan guards was a half-orc by the name of Matuk. Matuk had purchased several flasks of strong liquor at a small village along the route. Drinking was strictly prohibited by the captain while on duty, but Matuk ignored that order and took to the drink one night while he was on watch.

Bill (and most of the rest of the camp) awake to sounds of his mother screaming and shouting in the early morning hours. His mother had gotten up early as usual to begin preparing the morning meal, and had gone a short distance to collect water from a nearby stream. Matuk in his drunken state had followed her, and thought he might enjoy her pleasure. Bill was the first to reach his mother and Matuk, where the half-orc had chased her across the stream and forced her to the ground. As Bill ran for the two Matuk hit her in the face several times to get her to stop struggling. Bill tackled the half-orc from behind and both rolled along the ground for a moment. Breaking free, Matuk stood and drew his blade to kill the lad.

As the half-orc stepped towards him Bill moved inside his reach, and managed to wrestle the weapon from the larger half-orc, probably in large part due to his drunkeness. He turned and slammed the blade into the half-orcs torso. Matuk toppled over, slain instantly by his own blade.

Captain Dane intervened on behalf of Bill, citing Matuk's drunkeness, to keep the merchant from having Bill hung for killing one of his more seasoned guards, but Bill and his mother were kicked from the caravan and left to make their own way the last few days to Cheliax. They spent nearly two years in Cheliax, the larger city allowing Sandra to move from job to job as was her lot. Recently Bill acquired work aboard a ship, onstensibly shipping goods to outlying regions of Cheliax, but Bill soon found himself in the area of the shackles.
