After hosptitals and funeral, I should be back either tomorrow or Monday and able to post again.

Sorry for the absence, I have family in the hospital. Bot me as necessary

Ewww.... I will be in and out during the next few weeks for holidays. Work also finally blocked Paizo, so my post times will shift towards the afternoon

I don't have an issue with that, but will probably have questions, since I don't have the source material.

Sorry guys, got hacked and most of my google drive and onedrive were sabotaged, along with my computer accounts. I've spent most of the last three days restoring what wasn't permanently deleted. Google drive was where I kept all my Pathfinder stuff.

Had a major issue at work that's had me log over 200 hours in the last two weeks. Sorry for my absence. I'll post something tonight, since it looks like things will be normal again.

Sorry about the last few days, I wound up with the flu that dehydrated me so that I spent a few days in the hospital. I'm out now and on the mend.

Total

Congrats! Sorry about my absence these last few days. Damage control with friends and family after the election took the forefront.

Radiance is still in your possession and if you've heard rumors of it, rest assured that I can very easily modify it, and already had plans to ;)

Sorry about the delay. I was hit by a semi truck on Wed. I'm okay, a bit stiff and sore with an arm in a sling. My car? The whole drivers side looks like the villains car from James Bond. The lugs from the semi's front tire did a pretty good job of shredding the metal from the back door back.

I just made him a colleague of Lorrimar and when the two members of my party that like to think below the belt tried to hit on Kendra before they left for Lepidstadt, she simply told them that Addissant was a family friend that had invited her to his estates. I intend for him to use her against them at some point, maybe.

Sorry about the delay, my parents came into town somewhat unexpectedly for the weekend.

4 people marked this as a favorite.

I'm using the letters idea, but also adding another element. I'm using Obsidian Portal to do upkeep on the campaign, listing npcs, items, a wiki, maps and an adventure log. I started writing the log in the style of an observer that was following the PCs exploits and had some insight into what they did almost day to day. I really started with no intent to havec it be anyone in the game, but switched the idea when one of my players asked me "Do we know who the creepy author of the logs is, how do they know so much?"

Suddenly, I have something completely out of game that can get under the PCs skin so when I send them the letters they'll really be freaked out.

Sorry about the delay, guys, work has 4 go lives slated for the beginning of the year, so it's chaotic here.

Tumbler, almost missed this, as I didn't see the link in the interest thread. My idea is one of the bounty hunters used by the different Gov't organizations. Sort of like Rachel Morgan from the Hallows series by Kim Harrison. I like the idea of the charms being made and delivered by the "splat gun". May need some help with the build though.

I am very interested Tumbler. You mentioned this in the MM2 game we share and yeah, I'm still interested.

The Archlich wrote:
If I may - Hero Lab has MM3, and it should be easier to find rules for it online. Couldn't we try this version instead?

Hero Lab also has MM2 .

After stuffing in dried goods that look like they'd last the entire party about a week, and leaving the meat, which on further inspection was most likely dire rat, and possibly mongrelman, the group heads to the door in the north.

The worked stone wa lls of this large room hold a number of shelves, each of which display the preserved bodies of dire rats, bats, rock vipers, cave lizards, and other creatures that pose in eerie stillness. A pair of bedrolls have been laid out to the southeast. Of more immediate importance though are the two humans one brandishing a glaive and the other a scythe at the group. Each of them wreathed in a sickening purplish black aura that extends about a foot.

I figure Delizant's old ship, to put it in nautical reference terms, was like a cutter. Large enough to hold a decent crew, lightly armed, but fast. And if Rax could start with that ship, he'd have bought it, which would give him good reason to be broke ;)

Rax Galia,

Rax was born on the fringe planet Talrazia, that saw quite a bit of traffic from different factions in the conflict. While Talrazia remained neutral, it still saw its fair share of battle. Mostly in the form of housing the military of one side or the other, but in most times, Talrazia had some sort of military presence.

Rax started out young, tinkering with land speeders when he was just 12 cycles old. He found that the engines, and power sources and mechanics just made sense to him, but nothing, absolutely nothing suited him better than being in the pilot's seat. He graduated from land speeders to air speeders as he got older, and as he got older, both sides military sought him out to fix their equipment. It wasn't long before Rax got his hands on an old military starfighter trainer that was left behind when one side bugged out. It was deemed 'unnecessary equipment'. Whatever it was, Rax hauled it back to his house and started to fix it up using other discarded equipment, and soon found himself the owner of a functioning starfighter, even if it didn't have guns, and so what if it couldn't break atmosphere.

For five years Rax spent nearly every waking moment that he could flying his fighter, learning how to manuever. And just about any time that he didn't spend on that fighter he spent in simulators, trying to get a feel for how it would work in space. Pretty soon, though it became apparent that the only way he was going to get better was if he experienced it for real. So he did the only thing he could think of. He went to the spaceport and hired on as a mechanic/pilot. He was lucky enough to hire on with Delizant Naborn, retired military, who Rax knew from the camps on Talrazia. Delizant hired Rax, and put him to work. It wasn't until well into Rax's tenure that he realized Delizant was now working as a smuggler. After a few 'modifications' which Rax made, Delizant taught Rax about the 'trade'. Rax proved to be an apt pupil, and stayed with Delizant until the Borials job.

The Borials job turned out to be both the boon and bane of Delizant and Rax's smuggling career. Smuggling arms and contraband for the Zetzani Alliance, they fell afoul of the military blockades. Fortunately, it was the same military that Delizant was an ex-officer of. While they didn't make their delivery for the Zetzani, Delizant was able to sell the whole of the arms and contraband to the military. Unfortunaely the officer in charge was not so honorable as Delizant, and ordered his men to fire on the ship once it was clear of the frigate they'd landed on. Del told Rax to be wary, that something didn't smell right, and he was right. Rax caught the guns on the frigate powering up and pushed the modified ship for all it was worth. The move caught the military by surprise, and Rax was able to push the ship into the tail of the Borials Comet, and then into the Borials Nebula to evade the frigate's sensors. The smuggling ship jetisoned every bit of scrap they could and sheared off some of their own hull trying to make enough of a decoy. Eventually they were able to escape, but Delizant was now a wanted man. Too wanted and too famous to keep smuggling. The ship was sold, and the money split, and after a good deal of drinking and carousing, the crew went their separate ways, to find their fortunes. Delizant a wanted fugitive, and the other crewmembers, while not well known, keeping a somewhat low profile for a while.

Of course, after a short while, Rax felt the need to pilot again...

Questions Answered:

1) I prefer Galaxy. With the outer bunch of planets known as the Frontier or Fringe.

2) I like a diverse set of Governments, with various different interactions between them. Antagonistic, Allied, Neutral and "Leave us the hell alone"

3) I don't mind having earth as a reference, but I'd prefer if it were, to be ANCIENT history. So not something that anyone would point back to and want to go back to Earth, or even trying to relive Earth culture.

4) I don't mind some weird west elements, and "elf like" or "dwarf like" aliens wouldn't be bad, but I'd really like to NOT see an elf right out of Tolkien, thanks very much. ;) I think feudal systems of government might survive, but I think it a bit much to think there would be cultures that are still jousting, or using sword and board, when there's slug throwers and energy weapons about.

Sergio Calavantes. To some the name reminds them of good times, to others, well, let's just say that many who would never have committed murder give thought to it when the name is mentioned.

Born of gypsy parents, and born is used with tongue firmly planted in cheek, Sergio seemed a normal child till about the age of 16. About the time he really started to notice he was able use charm and beguilement to his advantage. He used what readily became apparent of his heritage to his advantage as well. His deep black hair gives way to small pinpoints of light in low light, and when someone pays close attention they can tell that the pinpoints mimic the starscape, until Sergio causes the long skein of hair to move and the illusion is lost. And the eyes. Deep blue, and in the right light, you'd swear you see the reflection of the moonphase in them. Ask Sergio about it and he'll laugh and tell you he has no idea what you mean.

Life amongst the gypsies suited Sergio well. Their travelling way of life suited him, as well as their fierce protection of one another. His parents were merchants, and performers, and Sergio learned the art of the violin and song from a very early age. As luck would have it, a wandering noble (or more accurately a wandering noble's wife) took note of the lad's violin and voice and stated a desire to have Sergio perform as a house musician. His father and mother struck up a bargain, and Sergio was "loaned" to the noble family for a term of 2 years.

Sergio performed admirably for his allotted time, but things came to a disastrous end, when Sergio was ready to leave, and the nobleman's daughter proclaimed her love for Sergio, and claimed that Sergio loved her. This angered the nobleman (and infurated his wife), who accused Sergio of beguiling his daughter. Sergio simply smiled and said "Beguiling is what I do. I'm a performer, m'lord." The nobleman couldn't be rid of Sergio quickly enough, and arrangements were made for the gypsy to leave the next day. That night, Sergio was interrupted by the wails of the nobleman. Quickly shooing his daliance out of bed, Sergio hurried to see what was the matter. Coming upon the nobleman's bedroom he was shocked by the sight. The nobleman knelt, slumped and sobbing over the form of his wife in a pool of blood. Not ten feet away stood the daughter with a bloody knife in her hands. When she saw Sergio, she smiled a wide, empty eyed smile, "Now I've done away with the whore. We can be together." Sergio choked on the words in the empty air, and stood, mouth agape.

The nobleman turned around to him, rage building on his face. "You...YOU!! You are to blame for ruining the two most beautiful women I know." He stood slowly, his wife's blood staining both the arms and legs of his nightshirt, his face so full of rage giving him the look of some avenging spirit. An accusing hand pointed to Sergio, "Get out, get out now...and may you be cursed with never knowing the real love of a wife or child!"

Sergio made haste to leave that night, with no idea of where to go, and having to leave behind many of his belonging. He was in the streets of the city when he happend to run into, quite literally, a bookish man who was getting ready to leave by carriage. Professor Lorrimor, Sergio would come to learn, and the man was happy to lend Sergio a hand in departing, and did so only on the promise of two things. The first, that Sergio would provide entertainment on the ride with his violin, and two, that Sergio would come when the Professor called to even the debt.

It's been years now, and Sergio had all but forgotten about the debt to the Professor, until the letter was delivered to him. Saddened, Sergio gathered his belongings and made for the road once again. The Professor was a good man....and a debt had been called. No Gypsy would ever let a debt go unpaid.

Should be really interesting once we get to the point that Minotaurs invade Silvanesti. :D

Marantis' Background:

Marantis followed the veteran Kirath, Palenthialan through the woods, breathing hard but quietly, marveling at the elder elf’s speed and dexterity. He hardly moved a leaf as he ran through the forest. Marantis was amazed that he could keep up at all. He moved quickly and quietly himself, but in Marantis’ view, he sounded like a herd animal stomping along in comparison to Palenthialan. They scouted through the grey waste, encouraged that here and there they did see some green.

Palenthialan smirked at the young elf following him and put on a burst of speed and moved out of Marantis’ sight. Marantis stopped and looked at the ground where the elder elf was just moments ago. Not a leaf was disturbed, no branch even shifted in Palenthialan’s wake. Marantis started to get frustrated. He knew this was part of his testing, that if he couldn’t follow the veteran Kirath, he wouldn’t be invited into their ranks. Patience…don’t let frustration color your sight. Marantis took a deep breath, silently and let it out slowly, letting him become attuned to the woods around him. Marantis smiled, there! A small bur in the bark of a tree, just above head level. Marantis knew where Palenthialan disappeared to. He reached up and grabbed a low branch, and scrambled up the tree trunk, finding the older elf soon after, camouflaged almost perfectly amidst the boughs, such was the magic of the Elvenkind cloak. Marantis remembered the silent language of the Kirath and flashed signs to Palenthialan.

You almost had me. I almost passed by without looking up.

You must always think in all directions, Marantis. Lest you miss a hidden infiltrator. Palenthialan smiled, But you did eventually, and did well. It’s time to return.

Marantis came back to the Kirath steading, along with several other novices who had all been out in the woods with an elder. All stood waiting, anxious to see who would be accepted into the ranks. The calls went out, one after another, and Marantis began to feel a knot in his stomach, had he done something wrong, did he fail his test? Soon, however, the Kirath Elder read his name from the list, “Marantis Everoak, report to Palenthialan for posting outside.”

Marantis wasn’t sure what that meant, outside. Outside what? Confused, Marantis made his way to where Palenthialan made his modest home. Most of the Kirath led simple lives when not scouting, and keeping borders safe. Once there, Palenthialan smiled and bade Marantis over.

“Marantis, congratulations. You earned this, though, you are one of the more talented trackers I’ve had the pleasure to work with.” He handed a parcel over to Marantis, and nodded for Marantis to open it.
Marantis smiled and tore into the bundle, like a child on his birthday. Inside was a Greenmask, an Atrakha flute, and a Soris, the weapon of the Kirath.

Kirath nodded and grinned up at Palenthialan. “Thank you!” then his face twisted into a concerned look, “Palenthialan, the Elder mentioned posting outside. What did he mean by that?”

Palenthialan sighed and his face grew solemn. “This summer is no natural, which I’m sure you’ve noticed.” Marantis nodded. “Things are happening again in the outside world, that are putting pressure on the Silvanesti. As distasteful as it may be, we need some of our brightest initiates to travel out and gather information. We need the younger of us to go, so they will not be jaded by centuries of experience with the lesser races.”

Marantis made to argue, but Palenthialan held up a warding hand. “Marantis, this is how the Kirath have decided you will best serve us, and the Silvanesti. You do not have to accept the post. I’ll take back the flute, mask and Soris, and nothing ill will be thought of it. We know it’s an imposition to push upon you, and it will not be easy, and will test your patience to the limit, but please realize that this is perhaps the most important information we could possibly get, and you and a few others were chosen because you showed promise.”

Marantis nodded dully. Of course he’d accept, how could he not do his duty. “I’ll go. I’ll find out what is happening and come back. I won’t let you down.”

Palenthialan nodded and smiled, “I knew you would not.”

The Kirath would be a perfect fit for where I was going with Marantis!

Not sure I follow. I'm not familiar with the kirath. I thought they might be under dragons, but figured I'd play it safe and make it other until I heard otherwise.

Background coming

Hey, crazy week at work, but I'm thinking a Sylvanesti Elven Ranger, if that would work. Also, what would the draconians fall under for favored enemy? Monstrous humanoid? I've added them as Other for now.

Up to 6 people can help lift the boulder. You need to figure out who is going to be the primary and everyone else will assist.

The arguements about drawing ammo are moot. The act of using the bow includes drawing ammo and aiming the weapon. Given that a round is 6 seconds, the time you would normally take using the buckler to defend is taken up in the act of aiming the bow. The hand simply isn't free to move and defend against a blow coming at the archer. The reason a crossbow has a different need to draw ammo isn't because of the accessibility of the ammo, but the need to "crank" or cock the crossbow, which normally took either a winch system, or stepping through the loop at the face of the crossbow and pulling the string back. After which you slotted a bolt.

In the meantime, hasn't anyone realized we're all feeding the TROLL?

Broadway is primarily artillery, but with some mobility, and with his stun, vertigo and force wall powers, offers some support and crowd control.

I think 9 is workable, I've run a group of 8 pbp, but you have to make sure the people are dedicated to posting at least once a day or more. Then stick to that. If someone skips several days, without some sort of warning either to you in a PM or on the discussion tab, they should be removed. Otherwise, you'll get bogged down in waiting for responses from people.

As far as we players, we would then have to accept that if a good number of people decide on an action, Watcher should have the right to move the group in that direction. Again, so that we don't spend a lot of time waiting for a few people to post. I also think that we as players should let Watcher roll things like perception, initiative, saving throws, and probably a few other things, so we aren't hung up waiting on someone to post. Also as players, we should use conditional actions if there *may* be a chance that someone else would act before us, or something happen that changes things. That way, you can post out of turn, but have options. Example:

If Invictus doesn't knock out the villain:
Broadway uses his sonic stun on the villain (and then rolls for hits etc)

If Invictus does knock out the villain:
Broadway moves past the fight to use vertigo on the thugs (rolls etc)

Some of you may already know this stuff, but it's still good to have it said.

Broadway

Background:

Jason Berenzhin was born to Cassandra and Jacob Berenzhin in May of 1990. Cassandra a well-known Broadway actress and Jacob an up and coming geneticist working on the human genome and brain function for the NY base think tank FutureNow. Growing up, Jason showed signs of heightened intelligence, which his father was extremely proud of, but that pride turned towards resentment, when, at a young age, Jason started to take after his mother.
The young man became a staple at his mother’s shows, often seen in his mother’s arms backstage at both rehearsals and performances. Before his tenth birthday, Jason was somewhat of a media darling, and when he started to display musical talent as well, the press ate it up. Duets sung with his mother hit the internet, and the cherubic Jason soon became an upcoming star.

All the while, his father put up a pleasant front, but seethed inside. This was his son, HIS legacy.

Soon after his twelfth birthday, Cassandra accepted a role in a national touring company, and despite protestation from Jason, who wanted to go with her, she left for the road, leaving Jason in Jacob’s care. By all accounts, Jacob was an excellent father. Jason never wanted for anything, and his father was always there when Jason needed him.

But appearances were deceiving.

Jacob began slipping solutions of his own making into Jason’s food and drink. Solutions that were designed to enhance Jason’s brain functionality. It was Jacob’s line of work, after all, and if Jacob could trigger something in Jason’s mind, he could rid Jason of the foolish notions of stardom, and Jason would become HIS son once again. Over several months, Jason consumed his father’s concoctions, and they seemed to be working. His grades improved, he was performing above the highest levels of the classroom, and indeed seemed to be his father’s prodigy. Much to his father’s liking, Jason started to lose interest in the performing arts. There was only one thing left to trigger all of Jason’s higher brain functions. Or so his father thought.
Jacob took Jason to his lab under the guise of showing the boy something remarkable. He wanted to show Jason how they had been able to use ultrasound coupled with laser and magnetic resonation to map the brain. Even promised to show Jason a map of his own brain. The youth was happy, more interested in the fact that his father seemed to actually want to spend time with him now. His mother had been gone on tour for a little over two years, coming home occasionally, and on holidays, and he missed her, missed her music and the theatre, but bringing that up with his father always seemed to put him in a funk. The arrived at his father’s lab, and after the grand tour they went to his lab and Jacob showed Jason the machine.

It looked like something out of a science fiction movie. A helmet of sorts, with a cacophony of wires and electrodes attached, which then fit inside a golf ball like apparatus about 15 feet wide. Jason looked at it and chuckled. “You want me to stick my head in THAT?”

Jacob smiles and nodded, “Yes, and it isn’t going to do anything. Here look.” He flipped on a series of machines and a holograph appeared, showing what was obviously a human brain.

Watching, Jason saw several sparks which lit up sections of the projection. “Whoa…now that’s cool!”

Jacob nodded, “That’s my brain. We scanned it yesterday, and what you’re seeing is sections of the brain at work. We get live feed, which allows us to map never seen activity in real time.” He grinned at his son. “How about we see how you do?”

“Just try not to be blinded, dad!”

Jason took a seat in the barber chair type seat while his father adjusted the helmet. The whole of the apparatus then slid back, and up until Jason’s head was inside the ‘golf ball’.
Jacob knew that the Australians made breakthroughs in healing lesions caused by Alzheimer’s using ultrasound, and had studied their findings. He took that breakthrough a step further, and thought that he could unlock portions of the brain that were normally mostly dormant. The machine fired up, and soon the holograph showed Jason’s brain, and Jacob was pleased. It showed more activity already than any of the scientists who had sat in the chair had. Jacob knew if he just made a few changes, Jason would rival the greatest minds out there. He directed the ultrasound to fire at a few locations.

Jason screamed.

The white hot agony in his head allowed for no other response. His limbs locked in place, so he couldn’t even reach for the helmet, or try to escape the device. His screams lasted until he no longer had a voice, but his mouth still remained open trying to expel the pain. Mercifully his father shut off the machine, and the pain stopped as Jason fell unconscious.

“Gods, Jason! Jason, what have I done?” Jacob rushed to his son’s side, and lifted the limp body from the chair, Jason was breathing, but showed no other signs of any conscious activity. “No, no, no, no!” Jacob moved Jason to a gurney, and then turned. He had to erase the recording of what he’d done. He went to the console and pulled up Jason’s holograph, and started backward from the point that Jason fell unconscious ~Just try not to be blinded, dad!~ a fitting warning. Jacob looked at the holograph and Jason’s mind was lit up like a nova. Jacob backed up to just before he had started the ultrasound manipulation and erased the whole of it.

Jason woke up to the sounds of his screams again, and sat bolt upright in his…hospital bed? He looked around disoriented, and saw the broken glass everywhere. As well as a team of doctors rushing to his side, with his parents just behind them.

It had taken two weeks for Jason to regain consciousness after ‘the reaction’ as the doctors called it. A combination of chemicals had interacted with his father’s device, which caused swelling of the brain. The swelling had gone down, and the doctors seemed amazed by health of the boy’s brain now. Marveling on its response time. The doctors did more tests, and came up with a list of chemicals, from common teenage dietary consumption that interacted with the machine, and warned that they should be avoided if Jacob was to do any more tests.
After his son was released, Jacob handed the doctors a large envelope, but they pushed his hand aside.

“We have no need of your money Doctor Berenzhin. There will come a time when we’ll need your help, and when that time comes, you’ll help. You wouldn’t want your wife and son to know what really happened, or what those chemicals really were, would you?” The greasy smile from the doctor spoke volumes more than his words. The only other thing that Jacob noticed when the man reached to shake his hand was the strange snake tattoo that coiled around his wrist.

From that point forward, while Jason still maintained excellent grades, he seemed a normal student. Much to his father’s hidden chagrin, Jason took an interest in music again, and seemed to start having greater success than before. As the years past it became apparent that here was something to his voice now, something that seemed beyond what normal singers had…

In 2002 Jacob was contacted by Sophron Industries, operating out of Freedom City. They were highly interested in his work with neurotransmitters and ultrasound, which had stalled with his old company. With Cassandra working only occasionally on tours, which Jason would often accompany her on, it seemed like an easy thing for the family to pack up and move away from New York.

After a few years in Freedom City, Jason’s abilities began to surface as more than just that scream he let out in the hospital years ago. The family did their best to cope with the changes, and Jason did his best to not let it derail his future in show business, but by 2007, Jason and his family decided he would step back from live performances so he could “better concentrate on school and college.” Although older than is normal for an attendee at the Claremont Academy, the Berenzhins talk to an old friend, Duncan Summers, who they had known from social circles in New York, quietly inquiring about help for Jason’s abilities. Duncan, seeing some promise in the boy, as well as potential danger in allowing him to continue without any guidance, contacts the Freedom League to ask them to offer just that.

Casandra Vale begins working with Jason, to develop his control of his sonic abilities, also offering him counselling to help him overcome his doubts about them. Through her guidance, Jason begins to understand the responsibility that these powers are. Casandra noted that The Raven might understand Jason's trouble and put them together, in order to give Jason someone he can relate to to work with. During the training, Raven and Jason become friendly, if not necessarily friends. Unfortunately for Jason, this does not go unnoticed by Dr. Sin, who saw his granddaughter sparring with the young man, and saw Jason as perhaps a way to exact some manner of revenge on the Raven.

Things also grow more tense for Jacob in his job with Sophron Industries, who put further pressure on him to produce results from his research and design. Jacob is producing designs that will help overcome some mental illnesses and deformities, but the company seems to not be satisfied. Unbeknown to Jacob, the group is a subsidiary of The Foundry, who are taking Jacob’s designs and “improving” upon them to try and create weapons for use in mental domination.

Complications:

Fame: Jason is an up and coming Broadway Star and has done a few low level films that have received favorable reviews and done well at the box office. While not a ‘superstar’, he does have a level of fame so that he gets recognized often, and paparazzi do take an interest.

DNPCs: Father, Mother, and Fans. His mother is often in the same locations as he is, so gets in the way at times. Likewise for Jason's fans. They often make it difficult for him to get away to change, and also make for a lot of innocents around. Jason's father often finds himself where Jason is, studying him and other "supers"

Enemies Through his father, Jason has garnered the attention and enmity of Viper, The Foundry, Dr Sin, and also his own Father, as detailed above. Jason's father wants to finish his experiments with Jason, but both Jason and his mother block his attempts.

Drawbacks/Weakness::
Jason cannot consume processed chemicals that normally are found in much of everyday life. So, no soda. Junkfood is normally taboo (exceptions being some of the Mexican places that actually use real meat, etc). (Slightly debilitating, very common source)

What are the racial bonuses for the Silvanesti?

I know some of the older Champions modules from way back, but other than the names of people (Dr Destroyer for instance) I don't remember a ton. Most of the time we ran home grown.

Broadway is an energy projector, first and foremost, with some crowd control aspects thrown in. I see him as the blaster/sniper in a team, as well as someone who will limit collateral damage with the use of force walls. He's a bit more idealistic at this point, and believes that anyone that has the abilities beyond those that are normal has a responsibility to use them to help others. In the group he'd trust that the rest of the team knows what they're doing, but if anyone were in trouble, he'd go to hell and back to make sure nobody was left behind.

Out of combat, with his background, I see him as a public face for the group. Not necessarily working with law enforcement or the political apparatus, but with the media and public. He would see that public opinion was always high for the group.

As far as gaming? Wellll...I've been tabletop gaming since the original boxed set of D&D, along the way playing most anything that came out in the RPG genre, from D&D to Traveller, Paranoia, Roll Master, Champions, DC Heroes, Marvel Heroes, and more. I've been PbPing since the early days of AOL chat rooms, and have run PBP forums for games and several MMO based guilds. I've run several campaigns from Obsidian Portal. This would be my first foray into Mutants and Masterminds, so I'm looking forward to something new.

What Philo said.

I just use Nitro to be lazy, since it will go through a complete pdf and pull all the images from it.

gm rolls:

Milorn Save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24

The group converges on the Dwarf, Milorn, but can't quite reach him. Tatyana casts her spell and a light pops in front of his face, but the dwarf shakes his head vigorously and doesn't seem fazed by it.

He looks enraged at Tats, and makes a small step to the side, tossing a fan of colored sand into the air, which bursts into a display of colored lights that fan over Jens and Tats

Heinrick:
The spell he cast earlier was blur

Jens and Tats, I need a will save to avoid unconsciousness

It's a full graphics manipulation program, very much like, but not as powerful as photoshop. If you take the image out of the pdf, and then drop it into GIMP, you can do all the manipulations you need, and save it as png, jpg, etc.

I usually use nitro pdf reader which has a function that will pull all the images out of a pdf file so I can save them as png files which seem to be the most versatile. From there I've used them in virtual table top games, pbp, and even blown them up to use in tabletop games. PNG translates best to resizing without losing resolution.

Both Nitro Reader and GIMP are free.

Be warned though if you extract images from a pdf it extracts ALL images. Border images, page numbers, anything that's a separate image ;)

If you have maps that you want to use, I can set them up on google draw for you.

Broadway

With google draw, you drag and drop the image of the main map, and then drag and drop any kind of token etc on top of the main map. Tokens can then be moved on top of the map.

I've been taking pdfs and converting them to png using gimp which is free, and pretty easy. Google Draw also doesn't require that someone create an account. You can allow anyone with the link to edit, and just share the url.
