Thank you all for your patience.
I've run into a little Writer's Block, compounded by low energy and a hesitation to trickle out the opening to Book 8. I don't want it to be weak.
I suspect a bigger window of possible creativity will open tomorrow, so bear with me, and we'll plow ahead.
I will admit that our current political climate does me no favors...

Alright, I think I've cleared some hurdles. I appreciate you all for enduring the delay. Hearing that the struggle is shared is no small comfort. It's too easy to switch off, and turn in earlier, and earlier.
I will hope to keep a brisker pace, while still allowing room for more character dialogue, so we may devour the next and last 5 Books.

Ascaria escorts us across the 10K line :) Well done, everyone!
Eidi |
The rest of the week will be fairly complicated for me for what posting concerns.
Please bot Eidi as it better fits. It seems we are out of combat, so it should be ok. He will use the night to craft if possible and place a nice banquet next day.
Things should come back to normal by next week.
GM Rat Sass |
I'm gonna slip into an alternate reality until Monday. Bot the GM at your peril...
GM Rat Sass |
Still here- sorry for the lurch-stop. Last week before we're empty nesting again, and I'm getting slammed from more sides than one. Should have something updated today.
GM Rat Sass |
Update should occur later tonight- got a Trampled by Turtles concert out of town on icy roads before then...

Huh, looks like Roll20 has their very own data breach:
Earlier today, Roll20 was named in a report as one of several victims of an attack by malicious cybercriminals. We are currently working diligently to investigate the veracity of those claims.
Our security teams work tirelessly to monitor, identify and fix potential weaknesses in our systems to prevent any attacks, and we take seriously our responsibility to safeguard our users’ personal information. Accordingly, Roll20 only maintains users’ name, email address, hashed password, last login IP and time of login, and the last 4 digits of users’ credit card. We use Stripe and PayPal to process transactions; all billing information is handled by them and never touched our servers. For password hashing we utilize bcrypt, which means that it cannot be reverse-engineered for utilization with other sites or to access Roll20.
We work hard to ensure data breaches don’t happen, and we always plan ahead for worst-case scenarios. That’s why we maintain strict limits on the amount of personal information available for exposure in such a breach.
We will be continuously updating our members with information as we receive it.
UPDATE 3:38PM PT: To remove any possible session cookies, we’ve logged everyone out of the site as a security precaution as we continue to investigate.
We have confirmed a possible time-frame from this data based on the number of accounts the cybercriminal states they accessed and we are still researching methodologies of access.
Looks like I'm going to change my password to the site, and I encourage you to do the same, just as a precaution. Not sure how many of us pay them annually to game, but I'll take their reassurances that their Paypal encryptions are sound.

Good. I'm not as tech savvy as some of you, so I'll play the paranoid card, and perform the little things that should reassure me that I'm completely safe... yeah...
Mortimer Smith |
Sorry about the delays. I've literally been pinned under a pile of work and other stuff for what seems forever and a day. Give me 12 more hours?
But most especially if they have ever bought anything online.
It really never hurts to change your password once in awhile.
Maybe I'm paranoid, but I am just curious about the note regarding Fanburst in the same notification on the Roll20 login page.

Hey folks, I'm still sucking air, but the last couple of days involves some gut wrenching, which has sent me to bed early with regularity. I'll update tonight.
GM Rat Sass |
Internet connectivity has drastically reduced. Will hopefully be back to the boards by the weekend.
For the record, I had a wonderfully long post, uncopied, which was lost to my office getting a new server without me knowing...
Eidi |
Losing posts is terrible, specially when you need like an hour to come up with something. I have grown used to CTRL+A CTRL+C everything nowadays, but still I recently lost one post too, disgusting :(
GM Rat Sass, I took note of the knowledge check results. I just do not want to pollute current action at the Deluxury.
I think after so much dungeonering we have been taken on the wrong foot with this more open and political/intrigue adventure.
I am trying to build up a post briefing Eidi's ideas on what is going on, with all the pieces I am able to remember, so that can hopefully focus us better on what open lines of action we have.
Possibly coming online during the week, depending on timing and other variables.

I commiserate with you, friend Eidi. I fall into false confidence with Paizo, I wouldn’t have expected a mid morning disconnect from my WiFi to have sabotaged me.
You folks are doing great, so far. This book gives you ample time to explore Alhaster, with the looming approach of the Banquet. I’ll do my best to lay out the bread crumbs, and let you hens pick over the good bits :)

Updating this weekend... again, thanks for your patience.

Mustering the creative juices was difficult, and long in coming. I hope to continue, unabated, now that things appear to be calming down.

Before the curtains close, the plaintive wail of Fondo rips through the House, and the audience's collective breath is stolen, before it returns to celebrate the conclusion of the play.
Wow, that was a really wonderful story. Such a great hero. But wait, didn't he somehow outwit Asmodeus!?!?!?
Thanks for bringing a smile to my morning.
GM Rat Sass |
I couldn't leave such a glorious character to the dust of history, but it's Cheliax, so our poor Varisian at least drew the attention of the Dark Prince himself... ;)

Hey, folks. My wife has just been accepted into a 3-year program to become a Nurse Anesthesiologist. It was a pipe dream, until this month, and for the reality of it, I've chosen to work seven days a week for the foreseeable future, to offset our financial obligations where I can. Not unreasonable side effects- tiredness and distraction, and my GMing has suffered. Obviously.
Things should work themselves out, but I may need you to bear with me a while longer, I'm afraid. Not as young as I used to be.
Eidi |
Those sound like really good news! I hope you find the strength to make it through and you still find out the energy to go out with her and do things together in your little free time!
As for the game, I can deal with slow paced games, no problem.

Alright. I've taken the time to reread our time in Alhaster, just to make sure that I'm keeping with the days' activities, and planned production of various sundries. I've tried to use it to renew my confidence regarding the rest of Book 8's very sandboxy feel, and you have five full days to occupy your time until the Banquet.
Game on, hopefully with much more pace...
GM Rat Sass |
I'll be absent this weekend, attending a graduation in Ohio. I should be able to update on Monday.
GM Rat Sass |
Hey, all. Had every intention of updating my games yesterday, but was discouraged by receiving a concussion in a rear end collision. Should be able to do so today, sans headache...
