I'm kinda confused about what's going on here. Simply assume Lucien is looking at the button together with the party.
GM Peachbottom |
To clarify what is going on if you are confused: Sebastian went out onto to main floor in his Physician outfit and no one thought anything was amiss with his appearance. One of the other Physicians thought Sebastian was relieving him and hinted at retiring to some area that needed a "switch" to get to. You are deciding what to do next.
Lucien Endrin |
Provided Ssebastian has a decent Bluff score, he could talk the physician into lead the way or just go first. If we hear this, we could hide somewhere and ambush the Physician when no one can hear us. Just my 2 cents.
Lucien Endrin |
Yep, holidays were super-busy. I'm going to post in a few hours.
GM Peachbottom |
Yes I realize it is very tight quarters but don't sweat it too much. I'll allow you to shuffle your positions as necessary and any adjacent square can reach the Physicians. I'll also allow Lucien's acid to fully damage all 4. The Physicians might take a few hits but they are basically fish in a barrel, crammed in that lift like they are. No need to make it overly complicated.
Sebastian Merrin |
So, after the downtime was over, half my town lost internet thanks to repeated accidental sundering of the major fiber line that runs down from the local metropolis. I should be able to get to a facility with internet to post from tomorrow; for now, all I've got is a less-than-stellar data connection on a phone.
GM Peachbottom |
Delaying action until after Lucien acts. It looks like there are two guards on the second level, but it isn't clear how we would get there. The stairs?
Yes. Maidens 2 and 3 are on the catwalks above. You can reach then via the stairs in the northeast. It is kind of in between the 1st and 2nd floor so the lift doesn't stop at that level. Or you can use ranged attacks.
Lucien Endrin |
@GM: Are the catwalks dangerous to walk onto, as far as Lucien can see?
GM Peachbottom |
I love your roleplaying concern for the Gray Maidens. Keep it up. Out of character though, don't sweat killing one. They are meant to be enemies and Cressida or anyone else is not going to ostracize you for it. You'll continue to learn more about the Gray Maidens and the Queen as the campaign continues.
GM Peachbottom |
Let's go see what's down that lift. It looks like we should be watching for exotic animals. Hopefully they aren't running loose somewhere.
I think a previous Knowledge (local) check allowed you to discover that the warehouse used to belong to the Arkonas who are importers of exotic animals and other items from the southern Mwangi jungles. These crates could just be leftovers...or there could be wild animals about. You'll just have to wait an see.

Lucien could try using him as a shield. ;)

Well, now that's an idea!
GM Peachbottom |
Story wise it doesn't really make sense that you'd leave and come back but RPG wise I think it was intended for you to rest at some point between the Hospice and the Temple. So I'll allow you to take a "short rest" this one time for about an hour and can regain your spells and hit points if you wish to take it. There are still several fights down here that may be a challenge if you are out of resources.
Iolana Altumas |
I was worried about running out of spells. Maybe we could barricade ourselves in the first room we opened for a whIle to rest up. I'm down for the custom rest.

Hey guys, I will be away from home and a decent source of internet connection until Saturday morning. I’m going to give a lecture at an university of another city. Please bot my character as necessary, or, if I’m your GM, enjoy a bit of hard-earned rest!
Sebastian Merrin |
GM, there's an awesome map of Korvosa floating around on Reddit.
In other news, due to Myth-Weavers' recent data loss, Sebastian's sheet got knocked back to level 4. It shouldn't be too difficult to get it back up, though loot might be a little off. I should have done a statblock for him long ago like I've started doing for other characters, so that should be in the profile shortly.

Hey guys, I'm VERY sorry to say so, but I need to bow out of this game. My work recently got much more demanding, and I do not have much spare time anymore. Moreover, I love roleplaying games, and it's a bummer when other players ignore your attempts of interactions. What's the point of playing a PbP game if it's just about declaring actions, attacking, and opening doors? We had a very great time together, but I feel like the game has somehow worsened during the course of the last yet. The GM is the only one among us (myself included) who keeps a high quality in his posts. As for us, we usually just write single-line posts, ignore interaction attempts from the others and generally only post frequently when in combat. What I'm trying to say is that since I need to slim the amount of my PbP games due to work (otherwise I would stay) I'm choosing to bow out of this particular game because I feel like I'm not so committed to it due to a lack of roleplaying and inter-players interactions. Sometimes I was the one to blame for that, other times I tried to start interactions, but I got ignored. That I only joined the party halfway through the campaign certainly doesn't help.
I wish you luck and fun on this adventure. It's been great to share some really fun moments with you all. My thanks also to the GM, whose commitment and devotion to the game were the main reasons which kept me from bowing out of the game before now. This is a solid game, which goes on from more than a year, and it's hard to leave it, but I'm sure you'll find someone who enjoys this kind of roleplaying style more than I do and hence adapt to the flow of the game better than I would ever do.
Happy gaming!
P.S. GM, can you please remove Lucien from the active characters please?
GM Peachbottom |
I'm sorry to hear you have to go Lucien. I understand life is always changing. I definitely enjoy role playing myself and you brought a lot of that to the table. I sorry you feel that the quality has decreased as of late. Thank you for letting me know that you have decided to leave and not just disappear. I'll update your character status later when I'm home.
Sebastian Merrin |
Sorry to see you go, Lucien. Best of luck with everything, it sounds like your career is going places!
How does everybody feel about how things are going? I think we can all agree that our GM is doing a splendid job, but what about us as players? Can Sebastian and Ayako be doing more to engage Iolana? What sort of things can we be doing outside of combat? We've been in the midst of a dungeon crawl for some time now, and that has its own demands on style.
Upon first reading, I felt indirectly, yet personally, attacked. And this isn't the first time that something like this has happened in a game I was in. But I feel that Lucien has some legitimate criticisms, and criticisms aren't attacks, and deserve more consideration. For me personally, I think it might be a good time to get honest feedback and take corrective action. I know I've been especially bad about only responding during combat; this has been an very tumultuous time in my life as well and I haven't been great at notifying people about it. But it's also a too-easy excuse, and I can do better.
It's worth saying that Ayako's been putting in a lot of effort at pushing things forward, and I appreciate that and ought to respond better in the future.
