It's from the following list: badger, bird, camel, cat (small), dire rat, dog, horse, pony, snake (viper or constrictor), or wolf. It's a very limited selection from the druids animal companion list.
Pseudodragon is an improved familiar.
And there is worse than to be heard as an British Man with style :D

Birds of prey are cool to get you a rabbit for a meal in the wilderness. But you could simply buy one as trained animal. For animal companions they are rather weak.
I had one in a game and forgot about it most of the time. I have that problem with other animals too. Like Witch familiar. But that one comes to mind at least every time I need it. For such a bird even that didn't happen.
Also I have a hard time imagining how that would look. Either the bird would always circle above. Or it would sit with a cap on it's head on my arm? It's probably just me, but these birds are not my thing.

I uploaded a new map for Salvator's house.
Yes, the next two chapters take you away from Korvosa for awhile.
Chapter 4 takes place primarily in the Cinderlands.
And Chapter 5 is further east. Not to spoil anything.
Chapter 6 you return to Korvosa and it takes place in the city again.
You can take whatever animal companions or familiars you want. Horses, birds, pigs. That's fine.

I'd love to have the Psuedragon, but the feats for me to qualify are way too much since I didn't start out planning on a familiar.
Tyrandro Amprei |
I wonder which way you'll get a piggy? I mean besides buying one from the butcher to save it from it's fate and keep it as a pet. The only thing I found in your mystery is that you could turn yourself into one at level 7 ;) Or are you going to multiclass?
For the pseudodragon you could take leadership at 7th and take it on as a cohort. And have a whole flock of low level pseudodragons follow you along :D
Iolana Altumas |
I can help with the flying piggy part. ;)
Iolana followed around by an army of dragons who breathe cold. Poor Seb he'll get frosted for sure.

Embrace misery in this world and the next, forget all that is not suffering, and tune your mind so you understand the pleasures of pain.
I guess it's an acquired taste. But it's far from being as bad as let's say Urgothoa.
Tyrandro Amprei |
Obedience:
Persuade a creature to allow you to inflict a small amount of pain on it. This can be as subtle as thin needles under the skin or as overt as a lashing with a whip—whatever the subject agrees to. If you can legally procure an individual, such as through legalized slavery, you may use a purchased subject instead.
If no suitable individuals can be located, coil a spiked chain into a nest and kneel on it, letting your weight sink your knees into the spikes. Whip your own back while chanting praises to Zon-Kuthon. Gain a +2 sacred bonus on saving throws against spells that deal hit point damage.
Sounds pretty much like talking someone into S/M practices :P

Yes pretty much. Have you read the Origin's comic? Sajan and I think Merisiel were in Nidal, and ran into worshipers. It was really disturbing.
GM Peachbottom |
The Joymaking is my favorite part of the Zon-Kuthon church.
The Joymaking: One bizarre cult beliefis that the less flesh a person has, the more concentrated the sensation of pain and pleasure is in that remaining flesh supposedly a legless man experiences greater pain and pleasure than one with two good legs. Privileged members of the church can arrange to have all their limbs amputated and all unnecessary flesh removed (eyes, ears, tongue, lips, and so on), leaving only a writhing head and torso that must be fed and cleaned by others. These "Joyful Things" are the most envied of the faith, as their entire existence is devoted to limitless pain and pleasure. They are normally kept in secure places belonging to the church, where any member of the faith can torture and violate them. The Joymaking holiday has no set date or frequency-a member of the cult who has enough privilege and wealth to deserve and afford this attention may call for the Joymaking ceremony at any point. All available members of the congregation then eagerly convene to assist in the removal of the honored member's limbs and nonessentials in sections over the course of one night. Often the removed pieces are eaten by the others present in the hopes of gaining an echo of the Joyful Thing's luck and sensation.

No I just looked Zon Kuton up in the "Inner Sea Gods".

There are some special fantasies implemented in the setting of this fantasy role playing game. Sounds like the Black Knight from the Quest for the Holy Grail found his final home :P

So much for our tactics. At least Iolana is invisible and can stay that way for a while but we are exactly at "walzing in and once we're surrounded...". Let's see how well that works.
Iolana Altumas |
GM I have a rules question. Is grease considered an attack that would remove my invisibility if I aim it at the floor and not a person. Also note to self put a meta magic rod of silent spell on the shopping list.
Tyrandro Amprei |
As by the rules as written "For purposes of this spell, an attack includes any spell targeting a foe or whose area or effect includes a foe."
So greasing the floor under a person would make you visible. Greasing the stairs to hinder the others to come down should work.
My 2c worth even though the question was not directed at me.
Iolana Altumas |
That's what I was thinking. We'll see what Peachbottom says. I realize if i target an enemy with a spell it makes me visible. I wasn't sure about targeting the floor and not getting an enemy.
GM Peachbottom |
The gnome had on him +1 leather armor, +1 greataxe, amulet of natural armor +1, belt of giant strength +2. The armor and weapon and small sized. The amulet and belt will magically resize.
The thugs only had masterwork stuff and probably not work confiscating them all: mwk studded leather, mwk heavy wooden shield, mwk battleaxe, throwing axes (5).
Tyrandro Amprei |
"Fight over" is a mutual decision of all opponents. And I wonder if we should really agree. They are only the thugs that are left but the emporer is at the moment about 10 thugs down and two of them might still beat themself to death. But once we're gone nothing hinders pilts to set up his kingdom again. And these are the guys that had quite some fun to kill that cowards family.
I don't need every single one of those brought to justice or whatever but a "Ok, fight over let's go look for our friend in the dungeon of this emperor while most of his thugs still are around I don't see.
Tyrandro Amprei |
I've noticed that skill checks often go unrolled. Any particular reason?
In this special case I think stopping and searching for valuables is metagamy. We're after the emporer and want to find Salvatore and Vencarlo but oh, there is a silver box.
I have a decent perception skill (though not a s good as yours) but Tyrandro wont start looking around for such stuff until the important things are done.
This bears the risk of forgetting it alltogether, but anyway.
Tyrandro Amprei |
Salvatore: "I don't know who you are but please save me from this nightmare! I've been tortured and beaten and forced to slave away at the easel. The emperor?..."
Then some talking across each other from our side about saving him, feeding him and asking about Vencarlo
Salvatore: "You can ask me about Vencarlo, but I have two demands before answering any questions. One: The death of the emperor. And two: you escort me out of Old Korvosa and to the mainland."
There seems to be a rather large population of guys with delusions of grandeur that start whining when confronted with a threat and if not they are making demands as if they are in charge.
First that Tesh Zobberdin, then the Emporer and now Salvatore.
I wonder why you put up with that? Is that a kind of 'accepting a quest' reflex? Because in real life I know not many people who would react well to such treatment. But here it looks like all are trying to please Salvator despite the fact that he owes us big style.
Imagine you being a hostage of some terrorists and once the Navy Seals come in and kick the asses of the bad guys and you start like: Took you long enough, now where is my limo to drive me home?
:P

Well, we've been traveling with a paladin for some time. It's possible that rubbed off on us.
Aside from that, Tesh Zobberdin isn't worth more than wry amusement; he's basically comic relief. And while Salvator Scream might be demanding, it's not like it's not completely beyond the bounds of human response. People with hero complexes don't tend to go around interrogating the traumatized victims they save. For that matter, neither do the Navy Seals.
I'm not sure what you're basing the "accept the quest" reflex comment on. Sebastian basically tried for diplomacy, and it sounds like Ayako was pretty much on board for killing the Emperor before Salvator started demanding it. As was Tyrandro. Is Tyrandro suddenly for keeping the Emperor alive just because somebody who was rude wants him dead?
Ayako |
Ayako made the pitch for diplomancing the Emperor and then got shut down by him(Kneel before Zod!) In the ensuing fight and capture, she was holding off the beheading until finding Scream and wouldn't mind having Pilts released naked and shaven into Old Korsova to experience the 'generosity of his subjects.'
