I'm back from vacation in California! Ye gods, am I back. Everything went fine until the return trip. We wrecked twice in Colorado due to a run of bad luck and worse weather. Everybody's fine, and there was only minor damage to non-essential systems. I have nothing but bad to say about Colorado's weather, but nothing but good to say about Colorado's people.

I'm so glad to hear you are back safely, and the wrecks weren't too bad.
We traveled through CO one year, and were chased across the state by a spring snowstorm. We managed to stay ahead of it, but it was stressful.

Welcome back Sebastian.
The queen has some protective magic the likes I have never seen. Something that deflects bolts would cause one to harmlessly bounce away, not impale her in the head.
The bolt wasn't deflected. It did impale her head. The Queen just pulled it out and stabbed Marcus with it.
I'll let you guys continue your own conversation before jumping in.
Ayako |
I guess I didn't write that correctly, implying an impaled head spell is more impressive than a bolt deflecting on.
How about camping int he Dead Warrens? Ayako will get some incense to get rid of the dead smell and some blankets and throw pillows to brighten the place up.
Or we take over Eel's End! Ya!
Tyrandro Amprei |
We sure want to storm the gates. But probably in the last book of the AP.
The queen obviously doesn't trust anyone. She has written off the hell knights killed the commander of the sable company and cut the spport for the guard who is now the only one of three mayor players that were set to make sure the king/queen stays true to the interests of Korvosa. And she builds her own army with the Grey Maidens.
Add in a little paranoia on the Queens part and it's enough to look at her in the wrong way to find your head separated from the rest of your body.
About the living space. Zellara's home might be an acceptable choice. In the adventure there is only one cozy room so far. But as she had a kid and has probably not slept under the table there might be one or two more rooms to that. Then we could be done with that part for now as we're probably not sitting for long in the house.

Working on that purchasing list now.
So far I've got:
Belt of Incredible Dexterity (4000 gp)
Hat of Disguise (1800 gp)
Quick Runner's Shirt (1000 gp)
Lenses of Situational Sight (5000 gp)
Cracked Pale Green Prism (4000 gp)
I've also realized that I forgot to include Human racial bonus skill points, which account for the extra I thought were there.
Sebastian Merrin |
I thought as much too, at first. But there aren't any other cheap ways for me to get access to those spells, and the lenses get me between 10 and 100 rounds of each use. 10 uses of see invisibility should be plenty to get through the middle levels.
Plus, in my head, they totally look like Jack Rackham's awesomely ridiculous glasses from Black Sails.
Iolana Altumas |
Those glasses are something. Sebastian you use your dex for damage correct? Cat's Grace is now one of my known spells, and Haste. Go fast and hit hard. :)
Tyrandro Amprei |
I took Haste instead of Fly. Might have been a bad choice.
Haste is an excellent choice. But scrolls and wands are excellent options to aid there. My wondering is caused by the sorceress not suggesting a magic solution ;)
The solution that would be really cool - literally and figuratively - would be if you could freeze over the river for us to walk there. But I guess it's still a few levels and a flexible handling of the rules to make that work.
Iolana Altumas |
Freezing would be awesome. This is my first mid level caster so I don't think about using magic first off. I need to start.

Tyrandro Amprei |
Every character is different. I come from playing a gnome elemental fire sorcerer. We made it to 10th level already and he is like "Does it burn?" with everything we encounter. But he was designed that way and behaved that way since level 1. If it doesn't burn he has not really another option. Even his background was based on fire that he had to leave home because he burnt down one thing too much.
If your background bases on your Varisian heritage it is an interesting thing to roleplay that. Please don't let my wondering ruin that.
Iolana Altumas |
Not ruining it. I just never think of spells outside of combat and I should. I appreciate the reminder.

Ayako |
four potions of cure serious wounds
three potions of lesser restoration
wand of invisibility (10 charges)
wand of cure moderate wounds (30 charges)
I suggest 1 CSW potion each
1 Lesser Restore potion for sebastion,Iolana andTyrando
Wand of Invisibility for Iolana
Wand of CMW for Ayako(she is pretty much the only one that can use the wands, maybe someone should drop points into Use Magic Device?)
Tyrandro Amprei |
Sebastian, it was mentioned that it would be nice for you to have a flanking buddy. You're doing sneak attack damage?
If that's the case I'm willing to alter my plans of taking Furious Focus to Outflank if you're interested in that teamwork feat at level 7.
Sebastian Merrin |
No need to alter your plans. No sneak attack here, the extra damage comes from the Human Bane enhancement on the rapier. When attacking humans, it grants an extra +2 enhancement bonus and another 2d6 damage on top.
Tyrandro Amprei |
Some thoughts on my build. I already stated that I'm missing the hunter's bond yet. To choose my companions sounded good until now:
The first is a bond to his companions. This bond allows him to spend a move action to grant half his favored enemy bonus against a single target of the appropriate type to all allies within 30 feet who can see or hear him. This bonus lasts for a number of rounds equal to the ranger's Wisdom modifier (minimum 1)
With an wisdom of ten this is neglectable. So I guess I'll take on a horse once we're leaving the town if that's ok.
Tyrandro Amprei |
It might be one book too early for that. But I checked with the short descriptions of the AP books now and the next one gets us to leave. I just thought that Escape from Old Korvosa might already be this leaving the city. But I guess that's not true.
It's just that most of the animal companions don't fit the concept of Tyrandro. And a horse that doesn't run away is a nice boon. The only other thing would be a Dobermann (with wolf stats) with a rivet choker. But for that I would need to do some changes too. Like Boon Companion to make it survivable.
Also to make it really cool I would need two of them. And then name them Apollo and Zeus and call them Lads ;)
Iolana Altumas |
If you can convince Ayako to take a doberman instead of a piggy. You might be in luck. :)
Are psuedodragons on the list or are they strickly for the arcane types?
