Though the burning away of the mist doesn't reveal a target quite like Holan-Ji had hoped it wound as he comes racing up over the cloud, he still has his nose to rely on and he can pinpoint the mephit close by!
Okay, if I understand the rules correctly, you can't charge if you can't actually *see* your target and you can't pounce if you can't charge. That said, Holan-Ji's still able to scent and pinpoint the location of the mephit - he just can't do a full attack this turn.
[dice=HJ Bite vs. Concealment (Miss 20%; Low Misses)]1d100
As it turns out, he didn't even need to use his claws as Holan-Ji crunches down on the mephit's skull with a sickening *CRACK* and the creature goes limp!
Yes, you're right. I failed to consider the fact that he couldn't see it when I wrote it, and also failed to explicitly say "Pounce Kitty!" that he was using Pounce, but you obviously knew what I meant. But, yes, all of your understandings are correct.

My dad was a Navy aviator; I was an Air Force pilot. I cut my teeth on the stories of Pappy Boyington and Claire Chennault among many others. But because I now fly cargo, I associate Flying Tigers with the air cargo company founded by several of the members of the above-linked-to unit after the war. They were eventually bought by FedEx, and I'll be flying some FedEx trips to Hong Kong later this month (I'm not employed by them, just doing sub-contract work). Perhaps my real life will thus imitate my art.
Thanks for those links!

GM Ladile |

Alrighty folks, we're pretty much done with the scenario! If you haven't made your Day Job rolls yet, go ahead and do so now. Same for if you have any questions relating to Faction Journal goals.
I also might need to be reminded of who is slow-tracking because my brain is a sieve lately >.>

![]() |

Faction card goal: "While on a non-good plane other than the Material Plane, encourage a crowd of at least 20 participants to promote good, rebuke evil, or otherwise be virtuous. Doing so requires a successful Diplomacy check [or a couple or alternative skills] (DC19)" - Effie succeeds taking 10. (Assuming finding a group of 20 people is feasible in Armun Kelisk).
perform (comedy - juggling) day job: 10 + 10 = 20

![]() |

Holan-Ji gathers a diverse group of tourists from several of the planes. The cute gnome from the library brings her bleachling grandfather who's looking for something new to eat, a fetchling from Shadow Absalom, and a one-armed azata looking for "something wickedly spicy." He does his best to satisfy their interests...
Food Tour Guide : 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
but he'll need to work on his marketing skills if he wants to earn more money.
On the plus side, he had some great dishes, and he'll be seeing that cute gnome again real soon....

![]() |

Craft: Alchemy + lab + elixir: 1d20 + 11 + 2 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 11 + 2 + 5 = 27
Regular Speed this time and should be regular for a while unless something changes with the group. I believe she now matches the lowest XP PC in the group (11 after this scenario).

![]() |

Day Job: Diplomacy (Caravan Vanity), Take 10: 10 + 10 = 20
I believe I am finally on Regular Track until I hit the next GM chronicle.
I'll try to double check the faction boon card when I get home.

![]() |

No day job, but perhaps the Grand Lodge would be happy to receive a second perspective to Maria's impeccable notes regarding our excursion...
Wisdom to Finalize Report vs DC 15: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
And the Grandfrogger is still regular track at 10 xp after this adventure. If needed, I can start searching for GM or AP chronicles to get him up to speed with everyone.

![]() |

No faction journal goals. Rolled poorly on my Spellcraft.
Grandfrogger: You could run through the current scenario list and check to see if you'd be excluded from any of the scenarios by left to determine if you needed an extra 1 XP somehow. If you'll never be excluded, I guess it only matters if Ladile decides at the end to run Eyes of the Ten. ;)

GM Ladile |

Eyes of the Ten
Uggggghhhhhhhhhh
I think I'd rather run one of the high-level modules, if we get that far :P

![]() |

I haven't been paying attention to all this gold I've been accumulating. I wonder if I should spend it...

GM Ladile |

Okay! The game has been reported and you can find your chronicles --> here.
As always, let me know if I've made any mistakes and I'll get them corrected ASAP.
I'll give you guys a couple of days to make any purchases you might need and then we'll get started on Part 3 :)

![]() |

Chronicle is good, thanks.
Effie's bought a Handy Haversack and sold her masterwork backpack.

![]() |

Chronicle looks good. No shopping, no journal card updates. Normal track.
Just curious if you think we'll slow this game down or pause it during Gameday, given your Overseer role for the Special. And GenCon Online is about 10 days after the start of Gameday, so that will slow us down a lot that weekend.

![]() |

Chronicle is good. No purchases or crafting here. I am in a very good position to afford a 4k item after the next session (and have the Fame to buy it too).
Great group still, I'm enjoying all the RP and group dynamics, even as they change a little bit here and there.

GM Ladile |

Can I hope that my future chronicles are referenced as "Totally Awesome Lil" Hep"? ^^
Just to make you smile. :-)
Maybe ;)

Hmm. Possibly. Blood Under Absalom, being one of the earliest 1e specials, doesn't have nearly as much 'success tracking' as the later ones do so I shouldn't have to do quite as much monitoring of table progress as I'd have to do for something like Assault on Absalom or Siege of Gallowspire. But of course it's always good to err on the side of caution so it's possible that I might have to throttle down my posting speed for this game for a bit.
I'm personally not doing anything for GenCon Online but I'm happy to pause this game while that's going on, for those who *are* participating :)
Great group still, I'm enjoying all the RP and group dynamics, even as they change a little bit here and there.
Glad to hear it! :D

GM Ladile |

This weekend at work has sucked something fierce so I'll aim to get us started on Part 3 either tomorrow evening or Wednesday.

Silly Maria should get ready for her spanking: it's a bard 1 spell. I am a skald. So 750 Gp.
Unfortunately, PFS requires that we use the cleric/druid/wizard lists for determining the level of a wand, scroll, or potion. E.g., no cheap lesser restorations using the paladin list, cheap hastes using summoner list, cheap heroism using bard.
In other words, Maria is right.

I went kayaking today for the first time ever! My dad came along too :D
Unfortunately, I totally forgot to put on any sunscreen before I left the house so now my name may as well be Sunburn McGee ;_;
Just had to share with someone :)

![]() |

Sympathies! :)

![]() |

First time ever! I hope it wasn't white water kayaking as a first time. I did a fair bit of sea kayaking when I lived in Seattle and always found it to be peaceful and relaxing. Kind of miss that. Hope your sunburn gets better soon.

![]() |

Last time I went outside on a sunny day (last week end, near the sea) I got so burned you could thought I used BBQ sauce instead of sunscreen.
Even my bones got tanned.
And I live in the north of France.

![]() |

Hah! Some folks who’ve moved further north from there have told us about the cloud cover in Northern France. But the sun’s so weak up here that I haven’t had to use sunscreen for years.
But best of luck with the burns, GM. Hope you have lots of aloe available!

Master Librarian (3 magic items, 400 gp limit): Scroll of Share Language (150 gp), Scroll of Share Language (150 gp), Stubborn Nail (100 gp)

2PP on a 2x cast Scroll of Tongues
Hopefully can get by with the cheaper spell from Zith’s boon, but in case we need tongues I’ll have it covered.

Purchasing a Headband of Alluring Charisma (4000 gp)

GM Ladile |

Nah, it was river kayaking! Local event; my 'new' (been here going on 2 years now) town is a river town. Very peaceful and easy trip. I'd love to do it again, sometime.
And thankfully I have plenty of aloe on hand :3

Upgrading +1 Cloak of Resistance to +2 (3000)

A question about PFS 2 Ed, for the specialists around..
I have a concept of a character, his background, but I want to know (cause I can't find it!) if there is a player's guide for PFS, like in the first edition
If you have a blank blue print for a character sheet it would be appreciated too!

![]() |

Player’s Guide can be found online here. Character sheets can be downloaded from the site (Players -> Character Creation) here. If you’re looking for a forums profile template, I copied someone else’s homework and made it available for other folks to make their own copies here.
Give a holler if that’s not what you’re looking for!

I believe they are specifically avoiding making a pdf of the players guide because they are constantly updating/changing it.

On the roads this week end, bot me as needed
(mostly doing unspeakable groan-inducing puns, spanking people, and being generally awesome.)
( Just like IRL, in fact, now that I am thinking about it ^^)

That's how I read it. That you were on the road this weekend doing those things. Which made me wonder what kind of life you live IRL....

![]() |

Just to make sure, is anyone going to attempt to any subterfuge here while being subject to the illuminating flames?
That depends upon what constitutes subterfuge. I can't tell that they're asking us any questions. Zithembe wouldn't volunteer any information that they're not asking but can try to answer-without-answering should there be any questions.

GM Ladile |

It's not really strictly defined in the scenario text:
Since the wyrds communicate empathically, they respond negatively to any forms of subterfuge, regardless of what the target is actually hiding.
Keep in mind that they're also probing emotions, rather than actual thoughts. I would rule that as long as you don't actively try to mess with them, such as telling real or outrageous lies (*cough* Hep *cough*) things should be fine. If a character were to make a big deal of being nervous or cagey about being subject to this without trying to think of something else to calm down (like Holan-Ji mentioned), I might also call for a Bluff check.
And no, they're not actually asking anything. Seems almost like they're mainly just getting their jollies from being bullies...

![]() |

Hah, noted. Remember to only spank people who ask!
What about those who are too shy to ask? ^^
"If your right bum got spanked, remember to turn the other cheek.."

I really like how you used the < > brackets to indicate translated words. I've wondered how to do that, and I'll use that in the future.
Point of order, though. Falren is acting as an interpreter, not a translator. Interpreters deal with spoken word in real time, translators handle written text.
Oh, and if you ever do work with an interpreter IRL, always look at the person you're speaking with, not at the interpreter, even when their words are being interpreted back to you. It can feel a little awkward, but it's accepted protocol. As much as possible, avoid speaking directly to or looking at your interpreter, though of course, sometimes it's necessary.
Not that Holan-Ji would know these rules or obey them if he did.

GM Ladile |

Ah yes, I did mean interpreter rather than translator. Sometimes I get my words flip-flopped.

![]() |

My sister-in-law is an interpreter and a translator. I think she does more translation work these days.

GM Ladile |

Also, thanks! I picked it up from a webcomic I read, though there may also be a few GMs here and that on the forums that handle it that way as well.
