Season of Ghosts

Hokay folks! We've got a little RP wrap-up to do but otherwise the scenario is, for all intents and purposes, complete! I already have your PFS ID#s and such but please make your Day Job checks and let me know if there are any other considerations you'd like for me to note on your chronicles such as Faction Journal goals.

Hi folks

supervillan here. GM Ladile has invited me along to your upcoming jaunt to Heaven :)

I'll be playing Effie Gee. Effie is the girl who ran away from the circus. All those irresponsible layabouts were just too much for her ;)

I haven't yet played her at level 2 so I have a little bit of tweaking to do, and some updating of the character sheet, but mechanically she's juggler bard 1 / mysterious stranger gunslinger 1.

Looking forwards to playing with you all!

If you want to, you can note on Parison's chronicle that he has completed this goal for Silver Crusade:

In the course of an adventure, purify a corrupted object or location, or remove an evil force that is possessing or otherwise controlling a creature.

We just did a ritual to cleanse and purify a shrine, so that should count toward achieving that goal.

Parison has no day job, so no roll for that.

For the chronicle sheet, Parison was on slow track for this scenario.

______________

Hokay folks, you can find your chronicles here! Please look them over and let me know if I've made any mistakes or if there are further additions to be made :)

Though I've still got another narrative post or two in the queue to bridge the gap between the end of this scenario and the beginning of the next I will otherwise be taking a breather for a few days before we officially begin #9-06. Feel free to do the same if you like, or RP in the Gameplay thread. This will also be a good time to be thinking about any purchases you've got in mind.

Everything looks good on my chronicle. I'll probably throw one last post in for this scenario on Tuesday. It's been busy for me from a GM standpoint. Spent my spare time Saturday and yesterday morning prepping to run yesterday's F2F PFS scenario for the local lodge and I've got to do GM prep tomorrow for the Skull & Shackles home game tomorrow night.

Oooh, that really sucks Zith. I have a big chunk of fellow gamers who have already made up their mind about V2 without even giving it a go. Tis annoying, but at least they aren't playing it and griping about it, that would suck.

Silver Crusade

I wanted to drop this in as far as the next scenario goes. I haven't played #9-06, but I've GMed it for my local lodge. That being said, I'm not going to be proactively driving the story plot for this scenario and will leave that to the other players.

It's one thing if you don't like P2E and don't want to play it. But when you act like that at the table, you're not making it fun for the players who are excited about 2E and want to play it, especially if it's their first time playing. I hope the GM who was running the table pulled this player to the side and talked with them about that.

Me, personally, I've yet to play 2E but I've played three of the four playtest scenarios, I've read through the first book in the Age of Ashes AP, and I've been watching video streams of Oblivion Oath and the Glass Cannon Podcast guys playing at PaizoCon and playing Silent Tide with 2E rules and I'm fired up for it. I WANT to play 2E and run it, too!!!

In the past year, when I've played PFS or SFS at different lodges or at cons, I've asked people what they've thought about 2E and will they continue playing PFS when it launched. Most lodges have expressed that they're going to run 2E events, although a few of those lodges did expect that some people wouldn't play 2E because that were not happy with their experience of the 2E playstyle during the playtest period. The members of one lodge that I've spoke with said they would not go forward with 2E events when it launched and were going to stick with just doing 1E material.

Season of Ghosts

I feel your pain, Zith. One of my online friends is bad for occasionally engaging in some passive-aggressive griping about PFS even though I've told them, "You...know you really don't have to do PFS if you don't want to or don't like it. You know that, right?" more than once.

I just don't get it :|

In other news...I make it a point to not gripe about scenarios when I'm in the middle of GMing them, but now that we're done...well, I liked this scenario *but* having to RP that many people with a death grip on the proverbial Idiot Ball was a little trying I must admit. Zithembe's latest post reminded me of that, heh :)

Season of Ghosts

Checking in! Barring any unfortunate or unforeseen circumstances we will begin the next scenario on Monday the 19th. Until then, I hope everyone has a fantabulous weekend :)

Effee Gee: no relationship to the short lived Marvel character of Ellsie Dee?

Now I'm a bit of a marvel-phile. Whilst I don't own a huge comic book collection I do have quite a lot of old Marvel Super Heroes RPG books, including the encyclopaedic A-Z of Marvel Universe characters (albeit that dates from the late 80's or early 90's). I have never heard of Ellsie Dee.

"Effie Gee" came from my trying to find a 'cowboy' name for an Ifrit, that might work for a circus sharpshooter. I went from 'Fire Girl / Fiery Girl' (lame) to 'FG' to 'Effie Gee.' The similarity to 'Effigy' is unintentional.

I guess that character began too late ( around 2000 maybe?) in some Wolverine comics (when he had his Madripoor period as "Patch")

^Yep! I would recommend using GM Star Replays first since those can be recharged; all the other replay options are one-time use as far as I know.

In other news, having seen it used in other games as a player recently I decided to give the NPC alias thing a tryout in some of my own games. Hopefully it will enhance the scenario rather than detract from it :)

I am irritated by my mind and body's sudden inability to function well on less than 7 or 8 hours of sleep each night. It didn't used to be this way, dangit! I thought adults started needing less sleep as they aged, not more :(

Also, I think I'm going to have to start officially making posting optional on my first night off after working a stretch. Despite best efforts and good intentions, I rarely seem to get much/any posting done on that first night off. I should have expected this, as I watched my mother work night shift for years and she would usually spend her first night off just catching up on sleep.

Long term night shifts play havoc with the body clock. I did nights for no more than 3 months at a stretch during a summer job and it suited me well enough, but then again I have a 27-hour cycle; conforming to a 24-hour rhythm is punishing enough and I avoided elements of that when on long term nights.

I think as you get older you tend to want more sleep, but also to rise earlier in the day. I'm firmly middle-aged, but I have a 9 month old baby, and sometimes when I get up to do her 5.30am feed I don't go back to bed afterwards. I do catch up later though (when the baby lets me!).

@Parison - Noted!

@Maria - I'm glad you're enjoying them! Optional background music is something I should do more often but usually only think of when I read a scene and think, 'Hey, <track> from <game> would fit great here!'

@supervillan - I've always been a bit of a night owl and on the whole, night shift works better for me in terms of stress. I'm generally on my own the entire shift and while that can be a pain sometimes if things get really busy, it's also nice because I interact with a lot fewer people than I would working day shift.

Religion check was supposed to roll and *then* one of you would have made the primary Diplomacy check with anyone who wanted to try Aiding also making a roll. By all rights, I could have easily cut things off after Hepsubia's post and resolved the situation then and there. I won't say whether that would have been good for you or bad if I had done so, but there are many GMs who would have ran it that way.

Perhaps that was unclear in my explanation and perhaps I should have only called for the Kn. Religion checks first (I may do this if I run this scenario again or another 'encounter' with similar rules), but I wanted to head off a situation where everyone starts rolling Diplomacy while they're talking and then I have to make you all roll Diplomacy again because the first batch didn't actually count for what's happening behind the scenes.

I'm one of the GMs who would have cut us off.

The more I do this, the more of a stickler I am for following directions.

Season of Ghosts

I usually like to err on the side of leniency, at least once or twice. Here I did so since I don't think this sort of situation has come up before at the table. But going forward I'm definitely going to be more strict about such things (and also do my best to make sure that I'm very clear in my directions).

An unrelated-to-the-above thing that I'm also going to be less sympathetic to as the group eventually levels up is general party preparedness. I understand that at lower levels money can be tight and it's not always easy or feasible to be prepared for every little thing that might crop up. But as time goes on folks should start making sure that they've got a plan in mind when faced with flying enemies, magical darkness, energy resistances, etc.

Oh and making sure that you have weapons appropriate to the heavily-hinted-at enemies you might encounter in a given scenario.

On the Subject of Appropriate Weapons:

GMed a scenario that heavily featured fey and strongly hinted at the possibility of having to fight fey. Actually had a character go, "Nah, I'm good" when talk of purchasing cold iron weapons came up. And then later they remarked on not being all that effective when the group inevitably had to fight fey enemies.

*insert sound of GM playing the world's smallest violin*

I'd consider being petty and just quoting the mentions of Fey/Cold Iron at them with their response XD

Maria will have access to (and likely prepare) adhesive spittle when she hits level 4, which should be useful vs. flyers. I also have a nice document built with items to buy to handle a lot of those variables if anyone has interest. I'll definitely be grabbing a few of the items as I go along and have the cash.

And... I thought I had purchased a few of the basic necessities (antitoxin, antiplague, oil of magic weapon etc...) for Maria, but apparently not. I'll take another look at my inventory sheet at home to double check. Otherwise, next session (or this session, if certain wares are available in the heavenly marketplace) might be a flurry of purchases.

On a related topic, general group planning. Do we want to designate a primary diplomacy user and have others set up to aid to give us the best statistical shot at the highest roll?
