Hey, guys, how's it hangin'?

Hey, was just wondering: What all side effects come with the psionic implants? Debating whether or not to make Jazzming psionic.

I remember GM saying there may be some drawbacks regarding your sanity/mental health but aside from that I have no clue. They sound a bit like biotic implants from Mass Effect.

That's what I was thinking. I just hope I don't end up being as emo as Kaiden in the first one. In the second he became a BAMF, but in the first he was kind of a wuss.

Psionics involve implants directly into the brain, stimulating certain regions that lead to psionic abilities. Even in the future, though, the brain isn't completely understood. Sometimes it just can't take the strain. Or sometimes the implants fail, or the body rejects them. When that happens, usually you get powerless lunatics, vegetables, or corpses. And sometimes everything goes perfectly. Even then, there are usually small personality tics that develop.

Psionic implants aren't illegal, but they are heavily regulated and the Commonwealth frowns on them. Because of the extremely challenging brain surgery involved, there isn't a huge black market, and the government does everything it can to keep things that way.

The opinions of the population are more varied. Some people think they're a great idea and the way that humans will get rid of the aliens (this is a very common view among members of the project). There are religious groups that oppose psionic implants because they are just another example of mankind playing God, or because they reduce a human life to nothing more than a power grab. There are conspiracy groups that say that psionic implants are a mind control plot run by the government, the illuminati, or the aliens. The technology was in its infancy during the Systems war, so it's hard to say how other planets might view them.

Implants are available to members of the Deronda Project. If you decide to go that direction, let's talk about it when you get closer to leveling.

Still trying to decide either way. I doubt I'd go into one of the psionic prestige classes, and that seems to be the only way to really delve into psionics. I honestly just want to get the Wild Talent feat, grab Finger of Flame, and flip people off to set them on fire >:3

Apologies for the somewhat abrupt post this time. The next three days will leave me with very little time to post, and I needed to get this posted. Hey, just to let you all know, I'm planning on a trip to my sister's next weekend, leaving after work Friday and coming back some time Sunday, and they don't have internet. Might go see a friend who does have internet, but I dunno how often, if any, I'd get to post.

Alright, we've been going for about two weeks now, so this would be a good time to be thinking about feedback. I know we're not that far into this little adventure, but some things to keep in mind. What's working for you? What's not? What would you like to see more of or less of? Answers to this kind of stuff will help me do a better job! Also, FYI: Saturdays and probably Fridays will usually be days that I can't post from now on, and this coming weekend I think I won't be able to post on Friday through Monday. So after Thursday, my next post will be Tuesday.

I'm actually enjoying things so far. I definitely feel a event horizon/alien vibe going on here. I now wish my character was more of a fighter!

Sorry about my lack of posts recently. I had a corporate trip to my company's yearly conference this week, and internet connectivity was resultantly horrible (you get almost 1000 people using the same wifi and it's bound to crawl at best). I'll get something posted here shortly.
