Dr. Stefan Von Herzog |

As for new players, I'm fine with adding up to two more. Would you like me to recruit? Do you know of reliable players who would be interested? I could also PM people who applied but did not get in the first wave. On the other hand, we can see how well you do with current 4 PC's as the AP is designed with that number of characters in mind. In essence, let me know your general thoughts on recruiting. I'm willing to do whatever the majority wishes in this case since it's your game too. With that in mind, I believe everyone should get a full veto on potential new players, including myself.
While I'm a little worried about the lack of a front-line fighter, Tiel has proven himself very capable in a fight! I'd be fine with continuing as a 4-PC party.
Food for thought to the GM: When I've GMed PbPs on messageboards, I have occasionally continued run the PCs of players who dropped out as NPCs in the party. I've most often done that in situations where there really wasn't a good in-game reason why the character wouldn't continue to adventure with the party, at least until I could contrive an appropriate exit. Once, I even went so far as to make my own alias for that character and continue to post in the Gameplay thread as that NPC.

GM Harker |

Who still has an unused Haunt Siphon?
Here's what you've found since you've entered the prison:
500 gp
4 potions of Cure Moderate Wounds
3 potions of Lesser Restoration
2 potions of Remove Disease
5 Holy Water
1 scroll of Lesser Restoration
1 Wand of Cure Light Wounds (15 charges)
2 Fully stocked healer's kits [Stefan claimed both?]
2 vials of antitoxin
2 vials of antiplague
2 doses of bloodblcok
3 doses of smelling salts
1 vial of soothe syrup
4 potions of cure light wounds
I'll place them all on the loot list, let me know what each of you takes so I can adjust the list appropriately, although feel free to do so yourselves.

GM Harker |

Looking over the loot list, did I give an okay for those magical arrows to be bolts? I don't recall.
Did anyone take anything off the first list? Perhaps someone used the healing potions?
If everyone can check the list out and double check, that would be helpful. I'll have the new stuff placed on it within an hour of this post.
If you take something off of it, let me know so it can be adjusted accordingly.

GM Harker |

Re: Recruiting new PC's
Okay, so I have 1 vote for continuing with 4 PC's and maybe NPC'ing Drace and/or Sentir. What does everyone else think?
With his archetype, Teil is set up for melee, although we could keep Drace around as an NPC until the end of this section in case he comes back. I won't be leveling him up though. I'll probably have Sentir leave regardless.

Dr. Stefan Von Herzog |

I would recommend that we sell monetary treasure (e.g. gems and jewelry) and split the cash evenly.
Magic items should go to the PC that can use it best.
Expendable use items should likewise be split up as evenly as we can do it.
In this case, we found 575 gp cash. I say we split that six ways (for the six PCs.) 96 gp each.
Now, let's figure out what to do with the magic items.
Stefan would be interested in any of the spell scrolls: they're all on his spell list, and few of them are already in his spellbook.

Tara Eliade |

I am fine with Vivian taking the wand. I would like to request on of the potions of cure light wounds for Tara in order to replace the one that was used on another party member.
As for the haunt siphons, I seem to remember Tara using two, because someone gave her theirs. (I think it was Drace). If people would like, Tara can carry the remaining potions and hand them out for people who need them.
I am amenable to doing another recruitment for a second front-line character (Barbarian, Fighter, monk, ect.) to replace Drace or another secondary healer/support to ease the burden off of Tara.

GM Harker |

I'll ask some good and consistent posters I know if they'd be interested in joining the game as a front liner. If the group picked up a full healing wand you probably will be okay without a secondary healer, but I can see if I can find someone for that too and/or support. If that doesn't pan out, I'll hold another open recruitment.
Once that's settled and Teilaenthis is leveled, we'll move forward.

Sophie Kundegard |

Hello, one of Harker's other players checking in... Check out my profile and please offer input.

Dr. Stefan Von Herzog |

Hi, Sophie!
Interesting character-- definitely lays on the creepy backstory and occult influences.
I have a few questions about the character...
The name sounds Ulfen. Why the eastern weapons? Is her human half actually Tien? Where did she grow up? Where did her ancestors come from and why did the come to Avistan?
And, what brings her to Ravengro? Was she here for the funeral, but arrived a week late?
Her background says she's old... How old? Are you taking the Middle-Aged modifiers? (If so on the last part... welcome to the club!)

GM Harker |

I wanted to get the characters sorted first before coming up with the plot hooks of why they are assisting you, but in general I'm thinking either they were associates of Professor Lorrimor who were detained from attending the funeral or someone from the area who has heard about all the troubles in Ravengro and were directed to the PC's to find out more information.

GM Harker |

I was just addressing why the characters will be joining you, that will be determined once the characters are otherwise sorted. Feel free to ask any question you wish, I asked the new players to post here so we're all on the same page, and there's no discrepancies and/or issues with the builds in relation to the characters we have already. I haven't had the opportunity to go through the character in depth yet, so your questions are helpful to me on my end and hopeful the entire group.

Sophie Kundegard |

Sophie is still in a rough draft state, I threw her together last night, so the questions are good for me also.
The name is still under consideration. My initial thought is that Kundegard is the name of the family that raised her--her father's actual family are of Tien descent, but they wandered more and more with each generation. I'm not 100% certain where she grew up, but she definitely spent some significant time in her life in Geb (see traits).
Harker and I have not yet discussed any of the campaign-specific plot details; he was saving me from being spoilered if I didn't get in.
I'm still fuzzy on her age. I'm considering the middle age penalties, but I also kind of want her to have 17 STR off the bat. Regardless of whether she's over 35, her curse makes her look significantly older than she actually is. In fact, I almost considered making that her "dark secret", since she *acts* like an old woman and would be embarrassed for others to find out how not-old she is. I think a better secret would be her status as a Changeling. I'm pretty sure she doesn't actually knew anything about the species or character of her mother--in fact she knows nothing about her mother at all.
That said, I am slightly considering a change to human from Changeling, but I'm not convinced yet...

Bert Shieldworn |

This is one of Harker's other other players. This was my first thought, haven't got the background set on him. I know one of the other players is thinking a martial frontline, so my other option is an Inquisitor...who maybe will last the first few encounters. Belroar has other cousins, that might make sense to about 3 people in this thread...
Ignore the hero points thing, I clicked it having read some of the discussion thread here, just to see how you all interacted. I, too, have not read any of the actual gameplay thread to keep myself from being spoiled in case you guys toss me to the garbage dump.

GM Harker |

Bert, since Vivian is playing an Inquisitor already, it's probably best if you avoid playing one as well.
Those of you joining the game, please go ahead and take a look at the Carrion Crown Player's Guide to give some ideas for your background, if you have not done so already.
I'll go over the new characters in more depth in the next couple of days and give you my thoughts. I'll need backgrounds finished before I'll be able to give the final okay, however. One thing to decide in the meantime is whether or not your character knew Professor Lorrimor. If so, you may want to consider taking one of the traits in the CC Player's Guide.

Sophie Kundegard |

I skimmed the player's guide. I'm considering the Making Good trait for +2 bonus vs. Fear. However, I'd be giving up the Hunter's Blood trait and that one is such a perfect thematic fit...
Sophie is a little over 30.
If I decide that she didn't know the professor, then the ancestors (and the gods) tugged her to Ravengro.
--
Bert, Paladin, Ranger, or Slayer would all be great fits for this campaign. They even have some relevant archetypes.
--
GM, are you giving out PFS credit for playing in this campaign?

GM Harker |

If at least three players are interested, I'll apply PFS credit.
Bert, when you get a chance, please go ahead and level the character up to the 3 to see what he looks like there.
I hope to get everything sorted well enough to start back up at the beginning of next week, if not sooner.

Here is the original list. Has it been updated? Looks like yes.
Is there a market to liquidate and buy items? Just wondering because our lack of gear is likely to make an impact at some point. People should claim the usable items such as Holy Water, antitoxin, etc.
I know Teil used a potion of cure light wounds, so one should be removed. Teil gave Sentir his haunt siphon so I don't know whether that was used.

GM Harker |

Feel free to alter the loot list as necessary if you see discrepancies.
We're going with only one haunt siphon left.
You can sell some of the items in town yes, just let me know what you're selling and I'll alter the list or you can do it if you wish.
There isn't a lot to buy in town, but you'll be going to a city after this so there will be more opportunities there.

Dr. Stefan Von Herzog |

Re: PFS credit:
I don't play PFS.
As long as it doesn't impact the GM's ability to innovate, and that there's no problem if a non-PFS PC is involved in the game, then I have no objection.

Bert Shieldworn |

If accepted, I wouldn't mind PFS credit, but I am fine without it.
I've leveled Bert to three, given him an archetype I wanted to try and since I am starting at 3, it was the perfect time. This may be a bad tradeoff.
As luck or Desna would have it, he happened to help save Professor Lorrimor's life one time when the Professor was in Riddleport (where Bert is from and why it took him so long to get here). A band of thugs, really just boys, accosted the Professor thinking it was time for sport and profit, only they didn't realize the Professor wasn't much of a fighter..well not against a group of urchin boys of Riddleport. Truth be told, Bert really didn't save the Professors life, the Professor would have maybe received a good beating and the boys would have moved on, but the Professor was grateful and Bert loves telling the story that he saved his life. There's always a few extra boys (and bigger) in the telling than in the event. That's also his little secret. Sadly, down on his luck so to speak, he only showed up to see if he might get a few coins out of the deal and a fresh start.
Bert is normally a happy go lucky kinda guy, he has no idea what he got into. It's not the naive sheltered guy in the scary movie, it's the class clown.

Bert Shieldworn |

Bert has changed a bit. I've added some more background (located in the History Spoiler) and a bit more in the dark secret. The dark secret does link his history and his current condition but perhaps a bit better to allow the dark secret to play out.
He's a bit tanky, and that's the role he'll typically try to play, although he can put out some damage, his goal is to be more defensive in nature. I guess I'll see how that works out.

GM Harker |

I'll get gameplay moving again either tomorrow or Tuesday and work the new players in as we move along.
Are the current players going to do some buying/selling in town other than the scroll Stefan bought? I'm going to assume you split the gold as suggested so all the current PC's have 96 gp before selling anything.

Teilaenthis Arcanos |

We need to at least divy out the consumables in a way that makes them useful. Teil doesn't have much use for splash weapons as he will almost always be in melee. All could use healing potions. Most of those sorts of items should likely be kept for now until we need the money to sell them.
How do people want to handlle this? Treat the consumables as "Party items?" Have people spend a share of their cut on the items?
Also as far as shopping goes, I was under the impression there was nothing to buy in town.

GM Harker |

My apologies for downplaying the availability of items in Ravengro. It really depends on what you want to buy. Masterwork weapons and armor are available, as are some minor magical items. Just let me know what your character is looking for and I'll let you know if it's in town.

Sophie Kundegard |

Background and stats are ready. Now just considering a rename and picking out the remaining mundane equipment.
Any last suggestions or criticisms before everything is locked in?

Tara Eliade |

Sorry for last minute notice, I will be unable to post until tomorrow due to being away from my laptop.

Tara Eliade |

I will be at work from 12:00 pm EST to 8:00 pm EST, and will be able to check the forum on my phone. (Yay for working at a game store!)
If something happens tomorrow while I'm at work, Tara's first reaction to a cursed item is to attempt to counterspell, and failing that, channel positive energy in case of a haunt. Due to Tara's background with previously cursed items, she will not willingly interact with an item until she sees someone else touch one and not appear to be too badly affected.

Dr. Stefan Von Herzog |

As a complete aside, have you all noticed the Paizo Humble Bundle? >$350 of PDFs for just $25, plus a physical copy of the Beginner's Box. I bought it even though I already had more than half of the items!

Sophie Kundegard |

Yes! Super great deal. I paid only $17 since I didn't care for a copy of the beginner box.
-Posted with Wayfinder

Bert Shieldworn |

I am pretty sure I have most of the items, I have hard copies of the main books, so it's nice to get the pdf. I paid 24 because I don't want or need a copy of the beginner box, I have it...I hope. Since I just moved, stuff is packed and in odd places and yeah.

Tara Eliade |

Oh, I jumped on that humblebundle so fast. My husband and I have traveled with our copious amounts of hardcovered pathfinder books for PFS. We have sworn never again.

Dr. Stefan Von Herzog |

I'm still on vacation in Arizona... the Grand Canyon was amazing!
I'm leaving for home tomorrow, and will (hopefully) be able to update during my long layover in Philadelphia.

Tara Eliade |

So I know that this doesn't have anything to do with Carrion Crown, but did anyone else see the facebook picture of the next anniversary edition?! It's going to be Curse of the Crimson Throne, and I think that's the bees knees!

Tara Eliade |

Hi everybody, I am in the process of moving and doing the lack of Internet shuffle. I am still paying attention to the game play thread, but my posting will be delayed until I get Internet at home. (It should be finished today or tomorrow)

![]() |

Sorry for the long absence guys. I injured my back a little while ago and have not been able to stop working to heal. By the end of the day I am getting home too tired and in too much pain to do anything but go to bed. I am trying to get back on the pbp horse but please npc my character as needed.
