She resisted my attempt to read her mind, she sends to her allies, a slight undercurrent of disappointment is notable. I'll try something else.

"Come on, she's clearly going to ignore the instructions," Saeron says to Reynold and, leaving the door open, she walks a short way down the hall before stopping and casting ghost sound. The sound of feedback and alert beeps can be heard coming from the equipment inside the AV booth.

They don't want the big announcement spoiled by technical difficulties. You're saying the switchboard isn't the problem, then something is. Did you check the wiring under the booth? Maybe the snake is frayed? You're supposed to be the professional here."

Did you hear her saying 'Test, 1, 2, 3' down there? ...uh huh...what do you mean it was fuzzy? Did you get the words? ...okay...okay, I'll talk to her."

He "hangs up" and gives an exasperated sigh. "My boss says they heard you, but the speakers themselves sounded watery or fuzzy, might be some feedback. Can you check the AUX cables and make sure they're fastened correctly? I know you checked the switchboard already, but some of the sliders might be off too. I'm sorry, I don't mean to be a pain, I'm just under a lot of pressure here."

Hearing the comms chatter and catching sight of her fellow Starfinders making their way down the corridor toward the AV booth, Saeron feels her stomach turn. Oh gods, it's time. Okay okay okay. Try not to die. She takes a deep breath in an effort to settle herself. At least the others seem like they know what they're doing. Just stay out of their way.

Murmuring an incantation as she casts a spell, a shimmering ripple passing across her body.

She waits for her companions just outside tr he door and, should they enter the AV booth, accompanies them to confront the assassin.

Cade waits to see what the assassin does. She moves closer to Mavrik "Look, I don't know what you think you are..." suddenly she has a shortarm in her hand and fires it at Mavrik. Reynold reacts immediately, and shoots her in turn. His shot is a marvelous shot, electricity courses over the assassin's body and also leaps to Mavrik!

Swallowing the rising bile, she staggers over to the defeated assassin, dropping to her knees beside the body and checks for vital signs. She tries to stabilise her if possible.

A bunch of mercenaries from the Obsidian Spiders rush in "We will take over from here, you are to go downstairs where the first seeker will make her speech." You do as you are told and see Luwazi Elsebo take the stage.

“I had planned for this evening’s announcement to be an exciting one, but I’ll admit this is not quite what I had in mind,” the First Seeker begins, her smile wry but determined. “Now I find my resolve only further galvanized.

“As many of you know, the First Seeker has the privilege and the responsibility for choosing the direction of the Starfinder Society’s research efforts. There is a moment of surprised quiet over the room, and then the guests, starting with Ykris, begin to applaud in force. Iteration-177 regards the elected First Seeker with an indiscernible expression, slowly joining in on the applause. Royo nods enthusiastically, taking in some of the fanfare for his role in the announcement. Naiaj frantically appends work orders, noticeably perturbed by some news she has just received. Zo! actively backs away from the assembled group, still enthusiastically clapping but also making desperate calls to acquire televised rights to all Scoured Stars related endeavors.
