I asked this on discord, but i should ask here as well since sazzat is absent from discord.
Did real life suddenly hit everyone the last couple weeks? the posting rate has suddenly dropped to near zero. I know ive been a little distracted and my posting rate has been a bit laggard, yet the rate from players has dropped compared to a month or six weeks back.
So, i wanted to ask if real life is just kicking everyone in the groin and preventing posting, or did the fall of dewdrop suddenly leave a bad taste in everyones mouth?

Jarl Purrun |

I would be surprised if Loxley has nothing we can use to try to retrieve the rope bridge lead.
A belt would hep with that, honestly. The buckle's weight would help provide some momentum for a wrapping action, though we would probably need something to tie to it to extend our reach to get to the rope.
You've got to have something more useful than the rags I'm wearing. <wink>

Evriani D'krent |

I'm still here! Sorry, been sick for a solid week and dealing with end of the semester grading and competitions for the team I coach. Add to that the enchantress with naught but clothes and a wand is not about to go cliff diving and, as Loxley said, I've not had much in the way of ideas.
Sorry for vanishing!

Yeda Wolfspirit |

Hope you're feeling better now! Generally no worries, life gets busy, everyone has to step away every now and then.

RIZZENMAGNUS |

Well, i hate to say this, but i think it is possible that Sazzat has dropped from the group. Its been a month since he last posted anything. I sent him a message last night, and will give him a couple days to respond. But as of right now, it's not looking good.

Yeda Wolfspirit |

Darn. Let's try him on discord too just in case.

Corrin Whisperwind |

hp: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
+1 BAB
+ 1 Fort, Will
+4 skills - spellcraft, survival,perception acrobatics
+2 background skills
Resist Nature's lure - Starting at 4th level, a druid gains a +4 bonus on saving throws against the spell-like and supernatural abilities of fey. This bonus also applies to spells and effects that target plants, such as blight, entangle, spike growth, and warp wood.
Wild Shape 1/day - At 4th level, a druid gains the ability to turn herself into any small or Medium animal and back again once per day. Her options for new forms include all creatures with the animal type. This ability functions like the beast shape I spell, except as noted here. The effect lasts for 1 hour per druid level, or until she changes back. Changing form (to animal or back) is a standard action and doesn’t provoke an attack of opportunity. The form chosen must be that of an animal the druid is familiar with.
A druid loses her ability to speak while in animal form because she is limited to the sounds that a normal, untrained animal can make, but she can communicate normally with other animals of the same general grouping as her new form. (The normal sound a wild parrot makes is a squawk, so changing to this form does not permit speech.)
A druid can use this ability an additional time per day at 6th level and every two levels thereafter, for a total of eight times at 18th level. At 20th level, a druid can use wild shape at will. As a druid gains in levels, this ability allows the druid to take on the form of larger and smaller animals, elementals, and plants. Each form expends one daily usage of this ability, regardless of the form taken.
At 6th level, a druid can use wild shape to change into a Large or Tiny animal or a Small elemental. When taking the form of an animal, a druid’s wild shape now functions as beast shape II. When taking the form of an elemental, the druid’s wild shape functions as elemental body I.
At 8th level, a druid can use wild shape to change into a Huge or Diminutive animal, a Medium elemental, or a Small or Medium plant creature. When taking the form of animals, a druid’s wild shape now functions as beast shape III. When taking the form of an elemental, the druid’s wild shape now functions as elemental body II. When taking the form of a plant creature, the druid’s wild shape functions as plant shape I.
At 10th level, a druid can use wild shape to change into a Large elemental or a Large plant creature. When taking the form of an elemental, the druid’s wild shape now functions as elemental body III. When taking the form of a plant, the druid’s wild shape now functions as plant shape II.
At 12th level, a druid can use wild shape to change into a Huge elemental or a Huge plant creature. When taking the form of an elemental, the druid’s wild shape now functions as elemental body IV. When taking the form of a plant, the druid’s wild shape now functions as plant shape III.
DEWDROP -
HD - +1
BAB - + 1
FORT +1 Reflex +1
+1 Skill - perception

*sees Yeda's post 4 min after she makes it and tries to resist posting again before other people chime in*
New day! Bad guys await! Get hyped! And maybe come back and keep me company because I'm really having fun with this game and check for posts way too often and don't want it to die out... <3

Yeda Wolfspirit |

Go for it. If you want specific banter and character interaction, I'm game. :)

RIZZENMAGNUS |

alright folks, we need to have a chat. id bring this up in discord, but sazzat doesnt participate on there so the discussion shall happen here.
all of us have been a bit lacking these last couple months on our posting rates. Ive been looking through everyone's profiles posting page, and it looks to be that each person is averaging one post per week since January.
this is bad, and we need to have a chat about this.
what's going on?
roughly 3 years ago, i took over as DM for this campaign, and i know we have had a lot of fun playing it to this point. I know we took a break a few months back for a pallate cleanse, but that didnt come to fruition because i had one of my PTSD-fueled depressive episodes and took a month off. But then we came back and were going good.
we all understand that the real life happens and prevents us from posting. But it's usually only one of that it happens to and the others carry on until the player returns and participates again. So i have to ask, what's going on with everyone? Is everyone's real life situations all happening concurrently that it is preventing good, solid roleplay posting? Or has the group unconsciously hit a brick wall and is absolutely, positively tired of this game and just really, really want to try something new?
If its the portion of this campaign, the slog through thistletop, i understand. it can be a bit of a bore and a chore to get through this area. All of my attempts at doing this campaign have ended here for that reason.
If it's for a lack of interesting storytelling thats personal to you, i can clue you all in on the background stuff ive developed.
What's the story about mar'du? Could it possibly be the lost sword of an ancient seafaring king's bloodline, just recently revealed and reunited with distant descendant?
What's up with Corrin and his weird dream sequence? who is this Mal character that was referenced?
Who is actually the voice behind Zeldana's late grandmothers fortune cards?
Who is behind the vicious attack upon Loxley at the red dragon inn?
And who the heck is Bandit?
Sorry evriani, i haven't come up with a super sweet special backstory side plot for you yet...
We're here to have fun. Lot's of it. If you guys are truly bored with this campaign, but are happy with this group of players, let me know. ive been percolating this idea about a campaign about exploring why would a Tarrasque need defensive spikes upon its back that are only found on animals that are prey to larger creatures. I have another that involves a lighthouse (theres some pictures that i like of a couple lighthouses that inspired me to start figuring out an adventure.) And i have that 20 year old adventure that we started working with those months back we could give a go with.
If it's none of those things, and you all still are happy with the adventure and want to keep going, then start posting. I'll implementing a mandatory 4x a week posting minimum requirement. If youre unable to post for a time, then simply do an ooc comment in the main thread, or here on the discussion board, or post on discord that something has come up and youll be back in so many days. If youre too busy for whatever reason that you dont think you'll be able to meet the requirement for a set time, say so. i'll put your character into npc status and the pc will just travel along with the rest of the group, and will be ready to play when you can rejoin.
I enjoy this game. but if things continue at the rate they are, then i will have to cancel the game due to lack of participation. TO be honest, id be willing to bet money that this wont happen.
So please, If you have an issue, Air it out here, PM me on this website, or DM me on discord. let's hear it and figure this out.
If you want to continue, then let's do it.

Loxley Geralt |

I have to accept responsibility for my own shallow posting. I do admit I didn't have much to contribute once the fight ended. I just didn't have any gear or magic that could help, so I was more or less just riding along and trying to keep up.
I also admit I participate on another pbp forum, and I sometimes get distracted over there.
I am fulling enjoying the campaign, it is my first time playing it and I like playing Loxley. I would be happy to continue.

I am having so much fun that I started DMing a pbp game on here because I'm happy posting like 4-5 times a day, lol.
I get held up when I talk to folks and they don't get around to posting back -- I am looking forward to Corrin's response atm, and didn't want to move on from that to walk over to Yeda just yet. =D Though that was going to be next on my list!
If folks get things rolling back up I'll continue posting every time I get the slightest opening to do so! And if people are bored of the campaign I'd happily join another, though I'm enjoying these characters a ton and would rather press on.
What I'm saying is, you have my creepy, freaky eyes. Doesn't have the same ring to it as 'my sword', ' my bow' or ' my axe ' but you get the idea.

Yeda Wolfspirit |

I still like this game very much.
So I like to not over-post too much while we're waiting on certain responses for fear of drowning out others. E.g. once the person comes back is that original plot going to be lost and missed? Maybe I'm biasing on that too much and I should just keep posting (I won't pretend I could post as much as Evri but I do hold back when others haven't had their turn).
I also tend to look for forward motion posting and hooks, and I'm willing to be told this is wrong too. E.g. I don't always stop and think about all possibilities of what my character is thinking and feeling for "lingering in the moment" versus "what's next for the team to solve/get done." Perhaps this is the kind of thing we just want to be more explicit about because it's hard to organically decide that over PbP vs. at a table. I am open to feedback if my posts don't have enough depth. Also, are people posting peripheral things that are not being responded to enough by the party? E.g., someone writes a really entertaining post that I appreciate, but I don't realize the intention *was* to get a specific response. I'd like to know that if it was the case and anyone was disappointed in lack of response (because it's an opportunity).
What's the story about mar'du? Could it possibly be the lost sword of an ancient seafaring king's bloodline, just recently revealed and reunited with distant descendant?
I'm going to be honest, since it was traded for at a local merchant it never occurred to me that it might have a story (vs. this smith made it). Sorry that I missed this, I would definitely like to try to explore it now that I know.

Zeldana Dardlara Amaria |

So I did make a small post in discord that will follow this so that all can read. But I will also be explaining more.
Yeah I think I'm more done with this engagement than the game itself. Because I really like this party! I love Zel! Hell you think I'd pay money for a character portrait if I didn't?!
I know I have been far less active. Honestly last week was the worst for me because of ... Issues. But I will do better! I'm away currently but I'll make sure to have something up tomorrow!
Come tomorrow, I do have something up! So I had for a while been struggling with posting as a whole. The GM is partly aware, but I haven't been in the best mental state. For the past like month or so I have been taking weekends for myself however I might stop that so that I can get some posts in as my weekdays are getting more difficult. I spend far longer on posts that in the past took me but moments to write.
So I have chosen to set a schedule for myself that will be put into effect come the end of this month. The majority of my posting will be done on Thursday night, Saturday, and Sunday. I won't be like hovering over the computer but I will likely be at it a great deal. I will also pick a day of the week depending on how my week is going to get my 4th post in. So far I'm aiming for Mondays but it will likely change the most.
Also the reason the end of the month is when it'll start and not next week is because my job is doing mandatory OT not this weekend but the next two.

RIZZENMAGNUS |

three things.
1) im back. feeling better.
2) sazzat is officially declared NPC and will be played by me. Sazzat himself is more than welcome to hit me up on the PM here on paizo, or by DM on discord, to talk to me. But given his lengthy delays in postings, it is best for now that his character be declared NPC.
3) we will continue the discussion about posting and and group commitments upon discord.

I owe you all my apologies.
I manage IT support for a military medical facility. At the end of January, we swapped from our old electronic health record to a newer, commercial product. The tail end of our 8 months of preparations consumed more time than I expected, and I suddenly disappeared. Once we reached the point I could look up again, my wife was sick. Then I was sick.
Then, after another couple of weeks, I realized I hadn't even touched my computer at home for months, nor visited these forums and games on my phone.
I didn't intentionally abandon anyone, nor ignore the private messages that I see in my inbox, but I certainly understand that it feels like I abandoned you.
I assume after that much absence, that you have dropped my character and moved on. I do not blame you. That's on me.

It's ok. No worries. I understand the IT side of things, and from our last conversation, i knew that youd be gone a while. Didnt think it be this long, but it's ok. we havent progressed further from your last posting, so it should be ok for your read and catch up on the action.
Not much talked about, aside from everyone committing to posting more and what not. was discussed on discord.
I added Jarl back. So, feel free to jump back into the game.

Howdy!
I, my wife, our daughter, and her two toddler children are about to climb into a minivan and start driving around the country. We leave Monday (25 April) morning and don't plan to return home until the evening of 24 May.
Yes, I expect to get very tired of being in a confined space with two trapped toddlers.
We're going to spend a week with as much family as we could convince to gather for my parent's 60th wedding anniversary, then we're going to spend a week with our 2nd child and his family (who can't join the celebration), and 13 days on the road getting from point to point.
I will have my cell phone and should be able to keep posting. I should even have an overabundance of time to post while on the road, and expect to have ample opportunity while visiting our son. Not sure so much about the "week" at the large gathering (30 April through 8 May), but I expect to have time. Biggest problem will be how much I hate trying to type on the phone's tiny little virtual keyboard.
If it appears I am unintentionally slowing the game down while on the road, do what you need to do to keep things moving. If my character is active and actively WORKING to slow things down, it should have nothing to do with the trip, so . . ..

Yeda Wolfspirit |

Sounds fun Jarl, enjoy!
Rizzenmagus: Sorry to hear too. Take your time, real life first as always.

Yeda Wolfspirit |

Hello all. I'm going to be in nature and away from computers starting Friday evening (4/29, 5pm, US/Pacific time) until late Sunday 5/1. I should be able to catch up in all games that same evening. As my absence is over the weekend I hope/expect for minimal disruption to my games.

Yeda Wolfspirit |

No problem at all. That sounds like a situation where a friend's help does a lot of good.

The timing was good for me, though the reason sucked. Fell further out of sight than I intended. Much further.
Home. My computer died while we were gone. Boot SSD isn't recognized anymore . . .. System is probably 6 years old at this point. Well behind the tech curve. Ordered something current to replace it. Feeling very fortunate to be ABLE to do so, honestly.
On my wife's computer, and will be stealing time on it to handle the online games until the new computer in place and operational.
Had a really good time visiting with my family. Very glad we took the trip.

Evriani D'krent |

From what I can tell a nat 20 on a crit confirm roll doesn't mean anything except you confirm the crit, according to official rules. The instant death thing is a semi-common house rule but not sure if you specified using that at some point before I joined. Which would mean, unless the yeth hounds bite attack does 3x on a crit, you'd do 25 damage and he'd be out but not dead. Just reaching for a possibility, if we're going with that house rule then rip.

Jarl Purrun |

To all present, greetings!
Let it be known that the player associated with this character will be out of pocket for six days. During this period, he will be attending a work conference and will be limited to his cell phone for access to the forum. This conference has a reputation for providing entertainment covering the normal downtime. The final day of the trip will be 19 Aug, 2022.
We thank you for your patience and cooperation during this time.
