Oh, some gaming resume stuff?
Highlights, then.
I've been playing RPGs since 1979. Occasional breaks for life events. Had kids and they were too young to work with through a game, an my wife was working an alternate shift. Did a year remote assignment in the military. Moved over 1000 miles for a work opportunity and the new (much larger) city had public play opportunities WELL away from both where I work and live.
Did a lot with the RPGA, was a demo monkey for WotC (both at home and at Gen Con/Origins), and more. I prefer the old RPGA classics format to the living campaign format. <shrug> It is dead, now, of course.
Before I moved, I founded and ran a public play gaming club for a decade.
Yada-yada-yada.
What have I learned from all of that? What matters is people having fun, people getting to socialize and be silly. Inclusion and involvement for everyone are the keys. I will frequently take a back seat if somebody else is really enthused about participating in a certain fashion. If doing <whatever> is important to them, and they let everyone else get turns in the spotlight (as opposed to having to do everything themselves), then they deserve to enjoy doing <whatever>, succeed or fail.

I am also Central US Time zone, but am not going to be able to post from work (M-F) the vast majority of time, and I do most of the dinner meal cooking for the house, so my posts will normally be after 1900.
that is totally reasonable. The time mention really only pertains to when combat occurs. otherwise post when you can. the hope/goal is a posting a day, but realistically its more like 3-4x a week.

RIZZENMAGNUS |

alright. for the new players, im gonna review the expectations and what not for this group.
Posting rate: ideally, it would be 1x per day, monday thru fridays, but it more likely works out to 3-4 posts per week because we all are subject to real life demands. Nothing is ever expected over the weekends. I will sometimes post on the weekend, but its an exception, not the norm.
Movie rating for this game: If you were to give this pbp a movie rating, it mostly hovers between PG-13 and rated R. Maybe a slight touching upon a rating of NC-17, but those are super infrequent, usually I, the DM, will post something like that for dramatic effect when describing a nasty looking entity, a particularly deadly result of a critical hit, or whatnot. Basically, if you can see it in a pg-13 or rated R movie, its allowed here. (although i think paizo does have a filter set up to edit non-allowed words, like swear words, from being displayed)
Goal: to have fun! i know, this is obvious to all RPG players, but it should be stated just because. So, if there is something youd like to try out with your character, either in RP or in combat, simply say so. I am more than willing to work with you to get that super sweet outcome thatll give you the warm tingles.
please do not hesitate to ask questions, or point something out to Me, the DM I sometimes rush through postings when i should be slow, so if i miss something you said, then simply ping me and let me know. if you have a question about why i did something a certain way, just ask. I have the mindset of open rolls for the game. Aside from the plot, all the rolls (with minor exceptions) are made in the open for everyone to see and understand. Heck, sometimes Zeldana, the uber rules lawyer of the group, points something out to me that i can or cannot do and i adjust accordingly.

Zeldana Dardlara Amaria |

*adjusts glasses*
Lore, rules, and overall mechanics are kinda my thing. Though I prefer to call myself a rule traditionalist instead of lawyer I don't take much offense to being called that so long as there is no malice in it. I am just simply very lawful when it comes to rules of games.... Mainly because in competitions I use them to win.
But this is not a competition! So I use my vast knowledge to try and increase the options of ability for fun! Within reason...

I've seen that video. Poor little guy.

Hello. I will be away in nature and away from computers and the ability to post this coming Saturday and Sunday (11/6-7). I will return and resume posting late Sunday (US/Pacific time).

Hood Canal, just car camping, oystering, and dutch-oven cooking.

-8 for setting a broken bone on another mammal? What penalty would you apply for stopping the bleeding of something reptilian, like a kobold? Is there a penalty for a human to use the heal skill on a gnome, dwarf, or elf?
For the record, I'm not arguing with the call, I'm trying to understand the implications of it beyond this single incident. After all, mundane healing is one of the focal points of my build.

Corrin Whisperwind |

so good news. its not covid killing me. Its a bronchial infection mixed with walking pneumonia.... good times
I will try to manage more energy for posting things im terrible sorry. Today was the first day in like the last five days ive been able to be upright for more than an hour.

Evriani D'krent |

Hope you feel better soon, that sounds miserable. Like, even more miserable than having your hands stuck in poop while being crucified. And that's pretty miserable.

RIZZENMAGNUS |

ok. my rss reader didnt alert me to this ongoing discussion. show's the gameplay thread. but not here. guess i need to double check the link again in the settings.
To address Jarl's question: Loxley summed it up well. The horse isnt a humanoid stature. While a horse is a mammal, attempting to set and heal a broken leg on an animal like that is different than setting a broken leg for a kobold, dwarf, other humanoids. Was the -8 modifier necessary? thinking back on it, its worth a debate with myself. perhaps a -6 could be in order? i dont know. id have to look into it more.
As for your healing build, Youre fine. Your profession farmer actually lends itself well towards this type of situation. If anything, it would, IMO, help you out for making critical decisions to livestock care and productivity, along with other agriculture linked aspects.

Lost a post I thought I made last night, in response to Corrin. Worked out. Same general task accomplished but with more interaction. A much richer post than the other was.

Corrin Whisperwind |

Before i post i just wanted to double check and make sure i read miss Evriani's post correctly. Is his new hated enemy underneath the line of the living?
cause that certainly changes my post :)

I meant to respond to this and never did, my bad. I miss the living campaigns (both living city Ravensbluff and Living Greyhawk) so so much. The amount of good times from those campaigns just man. I cant even begin to get into so if you had anything to do with them (even if you preferred the classics to them) your my friend for life. *lawls*
Okay maybe that was a bit much, but still thats pretty awesome glad to have you in this game!

Evie left him for dead. She didn't check for a pulse or anything. Talked my story points over with our illustrious DM.

My remote military assignment year was (mostly) the final prep stretch for starting the Living Greyhawk campaign. I wrote a bunch of supporting material for the Dyvers region. (Extending material from Iquander's Greyhawk Gazateer emagazine, which Eric Mona had to tell us we couldn't use because the license didn't belong to WoTC. Since Eric Mona was Iquander, I found that disturbing, honestly.) Eventually wrote a couple of modules set in Dyvers for our Triad. Did a year on the Triad, even, but that was EXPENSIVE. I averaged about $1200 a month on convention costs (including travel across the 4 state region: Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas and Missouri) and burned through over a year and half's worth of leave to attend those conventions, with nothing left for time with my wife and 3 children. Unlike some of the more North-Eastern Triads, we didn't charge conventions for our participation. Too many in the 4 state region were living on the edge of failure every year. Learned to hate Stephen Radney-MacFarland (SRM). He actually told the Triads that our job was to build characters up so that he could kill them. He apparently STILL views RPGs as the GM versus the players.
Also did a little writing (mostly rules, though) for Paradigm Concepts out of Florida, on their multiple Origins award-winning setting Shattered Empires. Met them at Gen Con/Origins. Really nice set of guys, with a truly amazing story-teller (Henry Lopez), an unbelievable rules monkey (Pedro Barrenechea) and some additional supporting actors. In order to keep the company afloat, though, they keep republishing mostly the same stuff for the new game engine of the day. That makes me sad.

Jarl Purrun |

Not that there's any evidence I can make a living at it. Seriously.
We've all diddled in game design. I just had the good fortune to be able to diddle with guys who were selling books.
I'm here to have fun working together to tell a story. So far you've done a better job with running a table online than I think I can. I used to do really well at a physical table, where all of my non-verbal communication is an advantage versus online where non-verbals are a DISadvantage. <grin>
You have about as much to fear from me as if I was hitting myself with a Nerf bat.
This group is very expressive, and working very well.

Speaking of rules, though . . ..
Should I apply Fatigued? Says it only takes about an hour's rest to go from exhausted to fatigued, which in and of itself makes me less likely to assume exhausted (though that was my first thought).
I'll also apply the sizing penalty with the blade, of course.
The tired is one of the reasons I'm eager to get a bow back in my hands. Erastil's Blessing means I don't use a "too tired" adjustment for archery . . .. Wis instead of Dex.

Yes. Go with fatigued.

Apparently the posting defaults broke today, and I accidentally posted as my GM alias at first. Sorry about that. You can deactivate it from players.

Jarl Purrun |

Did he thief know about the trap? Or was that the whole Wisdom check, seeing if you were going to remind him about it?
Not posting anything for now, since I can't beat the Perception roll already on the board. I'll wait to see the results. Honestly, I'm kind of expecting to just move on to the next room in blissful ignorance.
Don't think that will go well for Corrin and Dewdrop, of course . . ..

RIZZENMAGNUS |

not really. Corrin and yeda both spotted the oddity of the bridge suspension system. Yeda pointed it out, but then goblins attacked since they made a lot of noise coming onto the island. Yeda can tell you allll about her interactions with gravity.

long fall, near death, river creature. Builds character (vs. create character), would recommend.

Hello everyone! it is I, the bestest of DMs out there. lol
It is that time of year, where Christmas happens. And, as the majority of us know, this is the time of year where practically everyone takes vacation. This results in the usual christmas and new years time lag for posting.
I recognize that everyone has plans during this time of year, and posting on this website is a far distant thought. Therefore, Starting tomorrow, and lasting until Jan 3rd, 2022, It will be assumed that everyone is on vacation/away from keyboard, is doing IRL things.
I will keep an eye upon this game, and if a majority of people continue to post and respond, the game will progress a bit more. If not, thats fine as well.
As usual, i will be on discord visiting various servers, so if youre feeling up for a chat about anything and everything, feel free to hit me up.
