Spasi inputs the correct answer on the door and it swings open. The Thassilonian murals in the hallway on the the other side are as vibrant as if they were painted yesterday. A dusty, cobweb-choked corridor runs northward. At the end of it lies a stairway headed down.

At the base of the stairs you find a passage that lead to a balcony overlooking a room with a green, scum-covered pool extending across its far end. A curving, delicate staircase leads from the balcony down to the pool room and exits lie to the east and west.. The floor and walls are streaked with dark smears of guano in thick layers. (B25)

Clement stands shoulder-to-shoulder with Rhesus, his shield in hand, and gives his Shoanti friend a nod as the doors open.

Taking in the sights of all the bat droppings, he looks to the ceiling and to the recesses of the room for signs of their source, bringing a finger to his lips to indicate they should move quietly.

As he steps forward, the swoosh of Clem's own chain shirt alerts to him to the unlikelihood that such a plan would bear fruit.

With a shrug, he begins to descend the stairs, looking over his shoulder to Noya and Rhesus to follow.

Bibic checks the shard again as they arrive to assure himself they're still on the right track. He takes out his bow, checks that his supply of silver arrows is at the ready, and follows the others back into the tower.

He keeps a wary eye out for danger as they pass into the guano room - paying particular attention to the ceiling.

Clem beams at the praise and further the lack of ooze stuck on his mace, and quickly fetches the company wand from Bibic before administering first aid to Rhesus.

I've forgotten - are we playing we can take 5 out of combat on a CLW wand?


Amoebas are down. I'm fine with taking 5 on CLW charges.

The immediate are holds little more than bat bones. Swinging around the rancid pool to the east you find a small room that must have once served as a change room for those who wished to use the bath. Now thick guano covers the floor. The roof is a seething mass of black furred bats. Disturbed my the fighting in the other room, the agitated swarm attacks without provocation.

Lacking a weapon capable of hurting the bats, Rhesus covers up his softer bits and does his best to distract them from the fire slingers.

Clement winces at the sight of an alchemical flask, his body forcing him to remember the day at the Golemworks where he almost lost his life in such a magical fire.

"I... uh..."

Taking a few steps backward away from the chaos, Clem finds himself conflicted in what he does next.

"I.. can't.. fire..."

Clement's tragedy eventually gets the better of him as he continues to back away from his companions, practically abandoning them.

As he retraces his steps, he looks back, seeing Rhesus standing in the center of the swarm, simply trying to avoid injury.

"No. Clem. Turn. Around."

Jaw locked in determination, Clem steadies himself and turns around to see how his companions are faring.

Double move away.

Bibic takes out another alchemy fire and prepares to throw it at the bats, but he waits to see if they falter and fall before he does so (attack roll above just in case). These things are expensive!

If the bats drop on his and Spasi’s burns (and they should I think) he’ll cast a Cure Light Wounds for 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4 on Rhesus to heal his injury and end his bleeding.


Spasi's AF missed, touch AC of 16, but Bibic's extra burnination puts it down anyways. Combat is over.

Spasi claps his hands together as the swarm burns.

"Yeah, I told you I'd get it. And I did. Yeah," Spasi coos cheerfully. "You just listen to me and things are going to be good."

Spasi claps Rhesus on the back. "That was good standing there, Rhesus. And this fight, you didn't fall down at all. Darn nice work."

So with the take 5 rule that means each charge of CLW heals for 6? How many times was I healed before this fight? I started at 8, I took 5, and now I'm bleeding out.

I think the take-5 rule means just that, 5hp healing (more or less the average) from each wand charge. Let me know how many you use.

Bibic casts Detect Magic and takes an arrow to poke through some of the guano to check for treasure. He doesn't look too hard in the filth however before he's ready to move on again.

"And yes! Spasi is right, Rhesus! You stared those bats in the eye and didn't hesitate. I on the otherhand... I'm sorry."

Clement hangs his head low.
