(A second-story harness is a series of straps, trusses, and buckles that can be worn over clothing or armor. A second-story harness allows the wearer to, as a move action, secure herself in place on a vertical surface so that both her hands are free. The wearer can remain in this position without needing to make additional Climb checks, and does not lose her Dexterity bonus to AC as long as she remains anchored. As long as the wearer is anchored in this way, she cannot move and gains a +s circumstance bonus on Climb checks made to avoid faIIing whenever she takes damage. The wearer can release herself to start moving again as a move action. A second-story harness costs 55 gp and weighs 3 pounds.),

He holds them up and describes their function.

"Anybody want to wear them or should we cash them in?"

He also holds up the shard, "I don't have any idea what this is - it's quite beyond my magical skills."

Bibic:

Touching the shard, you realize that with it in your possession you can use major image as a spell-like ability once per day (your level = CL), gain a +2 insight bonus on saves versus illusion spells, and gain a +2 insight bonus on all skill checks.

You are also cursed and will not willingly give the shard to another. You are filled with delusions of grandeur (feel free to really play this up), and become sickened whenever you must serve another creature as a subordinate of any sort for as long as that arrangement persists. You cannot gain the benefit of the aid another action, nor can you take the aid another action.

She was also a thief that stole something did not belong to her, a triangular shard of metal and I mean to have it back. If you hand it over willingly, then we can part amicably, if not, well then.." Spasi drops his sling and draws his dagger, crouching defensively and ready to go into melee. He hisses at Bibic.

"Bibic, you'll never hit them with that bow. Go heal Rhesus, he needs it. I'll help," Spasi nods at the melee.

Clement shakes his head from a daze as if to ask what? it's my turn to swing? I mustn't have been paying attention!

Nervously glancing at the wounds littering Rhesus, he focuses his next mace swing on the leader, hoping a quick dropping of her will shaken the focus of her thug friends.

Heavy Mace: 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 + 2 = 21 for 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10

Well there you go then.

Focusing on the leader proves successful and she collapses under a quick succession of blows (-5hp)

Round 3, Init 1

Seeing their boss lady drop, the three thugs turn to flee (withdrawal actions) darting back to the alleyways.

(Combat is over, unless you want to chase them down. Also, with that fight, you have all reached level 2. Congrats! HP=1/2HD+1)

Huzzah! ::stares angrily at Bibic:: Huzzah! ::stares angrily at Bibic:: Huzzah!

Spasi begs the others not to chase them and focuses his attention on looting the leader (casting Detect Magic).

"Wow, Clem, Rhesus...you ended that quickly," Spasi says while combing through the lady's pockets.

"Let's get back to base and turn in...and turn in again. Spasi needs food, badly."

"She was clearly unworthy to face our might. Useless woman." Bibic walks up and casually coupe de graces her with his short sword.

"Now, let us free ourselves of the yoke of this task and revel in our new found wealth!"

He continues on, talking to himself, "I shall have another tattoo done to mark the occasion. Something... powerful."

Are you guys going to stabilize the woman or coupe de grace? Just curious.

Which woman, The boss or someone else?

Clem will stabilize the woman.

Clement examines his mace and the gore mashed into it's weighted end like a toddler examining a lollipop - except he doesn't stick it in his mouth.

Shrugging, he straps the weapon back to his waist and rushes over to examine Rhesus for any life-threatening injuries.

"It's been a real long day. We should definitely rest. It might be good to find out why this woman wanted the shard-thing. Or how she even knew about it? Let's get off the streets..."

"Eh? I'm fine Clem. Are you ok? You did good swinging that mace."

Rhesus makes sure none of his wounds are bleeding out while waiting on the fate of Schrodinger's Bosslady.

Bibic made a move to kill her the round after combat. He was pretty quick about it... and bloodthirsty.

Noya would interfere on any coupe de gracing of a helpless person.

"She's defenseless now, so taking her life would be an act of Murder."

Aw...please don't tell me you're playing lawful silly. But maybe this is a Kurada peace and forgiveness thing and I could be wrong.

Spasi watches as Bibic does what he said he did.

And I'm using the BoED as a reference guide.

Bibic is, sigh, insistant on carrying out his slaying. You can try to disarm me or grapple me (CMD 15) while I do the full-round action, but short of that, Bibic is intent on slaying her the round after combat ends. He does it without a thought, and without really listening to the rest of the party.

Whether he succeeds or fails, he turns to Noya all the same the next round - "Murder? Ha! She would have had us on the spit just the same. This is not murder. If we let her live, she'll simply return to attack us again, and we may be worse off next time. Letting her live is foolishness!"

Noya:
Please don't take any of this personally. Just role playing my character as best I can. I'm sure we'll find some middle ground going forward. :)
