@Herm
You're going to have a rough time in town. The people of Ravengro are a suspicious lot that don't like strangers. Normally at this point of the adventure you would have won them over, but due to the fact that you had nothing to do with saving the town but were hidden away at the Harrowstone you meet them at their initial attitude, which is unfriendly.
There are a few exceptions but Jorfa is none of them. Though most would be indifferent if you want to buy something and have the money to pay.

List of stuff from the Harrowstone:
mwk chainmail 6x300 1800
mwk studded leather 6x175 1050
mwk long sword 5x312 1560
mwk heavy mace 4x315 1260
mwk crossbow 2x350 700
sum = 6370
+ broken mwk crossbow
+1 keen longsword 8315
ring of protection 2000
+1 mithral dagger dagger 2502
+1 heavy mace 2308
rope of climbing 3000
wand hold person(11) 495
stone of alarm 2700
10x +1 crossbow bolts 401
So Jorfa has a fair share and other than us she can sell that at (almost) full price to the next one of her business contacts coming along. I might have misses something so if you remember something we brought along, we can add that to the list.
I think we left the cursed items right?

Welcome back. We still didn't make it even close to leaving Ravengro. So feel free to walk into town whenever you like. In the evening of the game day will be a public celebration where some of your future companions are honored.
At the top of the site there is a Ravengro map link.
Interesting places to go would be
C) The Laughing Demon - Tavern
J) The Silk Purse - Moneylenders, Pawnbroker
L) The Unfurling Scroll - Magic Shop
In the Outward Inn you'd find a room and meet the old crew including Herm. Or you walk through town while 3/4th of the party stand there talking ;)

... precise bombs on the four of us to ensure that we don't take damage no-matter which way I miss...
Precise bombs: Whenever the alchemist throws a bomb, he can select a number of squares equal to his Intelligence modifier that are not affected by the splash damage from his bombs. If the bomb misses, this discovery has no effect.

she is. Levelling soonish
Jominda Fallenbridge __ |
At the start of the encounter there was a girls voice screaming first from one side and then from another direction. It was in fact the spider jumping around imitating the screams of its last victim. Jominda referred to that, meaning that the spider would have to have killed two more girls immediately before attacking us. Which makes no sense as this is no playground but a bog in the middle of nowhere.

"Dr. Can you tell me what the interest behind all these books was?"
Sorry, I missed the question. As the opportunity has passed I give you the answer here in discussion in form of the the passage from the last will of Prof. Lorrimor:
To my old friends, I hate to impose upon you all, but there are few others who are capable of appreciating the true significance of what it is I have to ask. As some of you know, I have devoted many of my studies to all manner of evil, that I might know the enemy and inform those better positioned to stand against it. For knowledge of one’s enemy is the surest path to victory over its plans.
And so, over the course of my lifetime, I have seen fit to acquire a significant collection of valuable but dangerous tomes, any one of which in the wrong circumstances could have led to an awkward legal situation. While the majority of these tomes remain safe under lock and key at the Lepidstadt University, I fear that a few I have borrowed remain in a trunk in my Ravengro home. While invaluable for my work in life, in death, I would prefer not to burden my daughter with the darker side of my profession, or worse still, the danger of possessing these tomes herself. As such, I am entrusting my chest of tomes to you, posthumously. I ask that you please deliver the collection to my colleagues at the University of Lepidstadt, who will put them to good use for the betterment of the cause.

"He seems to have taken to the drink a bit much, in secret, and our boss wants the information from a bit more reliable source."
I'm looking forward to you meeting Prosecutor Otto Heiger in person. :P
@Harrold
You may know the latin name of this swamp weed, but you have to come up with it yourself.

basically: Samuel L Jackson - everywhere

It is about attitude. Even if you state it as a question, the question is summed up as: Could it be that you are accusing the wrong beast?
You say our beast, signalling sides you stand on. Drawing a line between you and him, with the beast on your side. And then you invite him to come over to your side.
Even the most helpful person would ask "How should I know? To me beasts look all the same." Which would make them look like an idiot.
Can you see how this kind of conversation tends to lead to escalating situations? And I speak from experience. I have that in the office about one per week with two colleagues who play exactly this game without noticing. If I could turn the volume down I'd just get popcorn and enjoy the show. But it just makes life unnecessary hard to have discussions in that way.

Now you have to decide who will present the evidence in court and what that will be.
It has to be in the form of:
Here we have this flower bouquet that we found in the beasts lair addressed with condolences at the parents of Elsa which totally proves that the beast was really sad about the death.
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
For everything you bring you get a roll. I know which of these things count and what bonus you get on the rolls depending on the evidence you present. But you can in principle make statements without pieces of evidence.
Herm Dunlaven |
Herm can aid but with this part Herm will take a bit of a background stay since I konw what happened and what to say.
Kendra Lorrimor _ |
I think Kendra will present most of the case, but she will need some help getting everything in order beforehand, so she knows what to present.
Herm Dunlaven |
Which Herm/myself can help with.
This time we found that the Villagers description of the beast didn't match the one we met.
-No teeth marks from the alligator attack
-Still alive and not drowned
-Graves robbed of whole bodies
-Tools for taking parts from bodies
-Manticore guarding the island
-Potion of dark vision to help with sneaking around at night
Kendra Lorrimor _ |
perfect.
Kendra Lorrimor _ |
tools for digging
Kendra Lorrimor _ |
I figured as much. Take the time you need, your health is more important. In the meantime, I'm just treating you as silently following us.

As for the options to get to the ghasts
- use a rope to climb down (+no hurts and easy to do -takes like forever)
- jump in (+fast. The while party could get in in one round. -even if you make a DC15 Acrobatics to avoid half the damage, you're prone)
- featherfall (+has no disadvantage)
Kendra Lorrimor _ |
oooh, that's great, I can just manage to feather fall all four of us.
