Kitsune Game Master

You were supposed to have done the temple before Undiomede House. Which I told you. But this way around it is much more fun.

Yep, Kendra has the catatonic woman and the baby.

Kitsune Game Master

If someone needed gullible people to start an evil cult of their own, there would be plenty of potential here, with Dagon cleared out.

HP 77 Ӏ AC 17 (FF 115/T 13) Ӏ CMD 18 Ι F+8, R+8, W+11 Ι Ini +6 Ι Perc +9

So we are really done this book then?

Kitsune Game Master

Obviously you're not done with traumatizing this young couple. :P

But besides that, and maybe eradicating the whole village for being evil, the next obvious destination is Caliphas. I added the note you found with the other dead WW-Cultist to the google maps. It is some pages since you found it and it is your only hint where to go next.

I could fly up and fireball the town down.

For shame

Well it would be a good thing, I could make you fly too and you could drop bombs if you want to help out.

Kitsune Game Master

You mix up two things. The cult of Dagon was giving the babies to the scum to raise them and then "marry" them.

Then there was the cult of Shub Niggurath who killed off everything found and wanted to bring their own god in from the dark tapestry.

The baby you found belongs to that couple.

Did we kill all of both cults?

Kitsune Game Master

There might be some low ranking cultists of Dagon left. And you didn't clean out all the Migo, but let's assume they simply departed the way they came. Which is mysterious and unknown.

The only authority left is the sheriff. If you want to talk to authority.

Btw. I read 'The Color Out of Space' from H. P. Lovecraft. And more than ever I believe that taking Lovecraft stuff into Pathfinder is abuse of the source material. The horrors of Lovecraft are not fought. They are suffered through and barely survived with damage to your sanity. But not beaten to death with a stick. No matter how magical that stick is.

HP 77 Ӏ AC 17 (FF 115/T 13) Ӏ CMD 18 Ι F+8, R+8, W+11 Ι Ini +6 Ι Perc +9

Ya they put stats to Chutulu in the 5 bestiary, people figured out how to beat him pretty handily.

So I am kinda lost on what to do now, we have that other note and just head out. I assume the Kid we found and saved and these people are "outside the scope of the adventure?"

Kitsune Game Master

The aftermath of all the killing usually isn't in the scope. But if you want to fix the village I'm in. But the odds are clearly against successfully turning them, if you don't install a new leadership.

Male Human Paladin of Sarenrae Lvl 17 (HP 100/155| AC:31 (33 Undead) (DR 3/-, 5/evil)| T: 17 (31 vs incorp) | FF: 31 (33 undead)| Fort:+22 | Ref:+18 | Will:+20 | Init + 3 | Perc + 16l

Well they are going to need new Leadership, as we just killed the majority of it, with the Mayor being the only one who's still alive.

Doing that MIGHT allow Stam to take a week or so and craft items/memorize spells after our weeks of constant running.

Kitsune Game Master

The mayor you have as a brain and a body. As long as Spugs doesn't fix that, you have no mayor.

Male Human Paladin of Sarenrae Lvl 17 (HP 100/155| AC:31 (33 Undead) (DR 3/-, 5/evil)| T: 17 (31 vs incorp) | FF: 31 (33 undead)| Fort:+22 | Ref:+18 | Will:+20 | Init + 3 | Perc + 16l

True, I'm assuming Spugs would want to fix that at <Frankenstein's Castle>

Kitsune Game Master

He'd get competent aid there.

GIVE MY CREATION, LIFFEEEEEE!

Spugs will fix people up

As for the whole Pathfinder/CoC thing, Pathfinder PCs do have more tools to put up a stiffer fight against lower rank critters. A Deep One is still a clawed and fanged nasty like an orc and can be disposed of even if Squid Boy can't

Kitsune Game Master

"You know Cthulhu, being there already for aeons is for sure impressive, but immortality is a relative thing. And you're called an old one for a reason. Maybe you should retire. So now get lost, as I'm about to take over the role of world dominator, or I'll make you."

And in pathfinder this might not be famous last words.

In Exalted, Cthulhu would no doubt get rolled by an Exalted circle and his kidneys stolen.

HP 77 Ӏ AC 17 (FF 115/T 13) Ӏ CMD 18 Ι F+8, R+8, W+11 Ι Ini +6 Ι Perc +9

I guess in even our modern Earth Cthulhu is scary for the fact that we possibly couldn't harm him?

In 1920's earth even more so.

I think the sanity blasting stuff has a hefty dose of Lovecraft racism in it. QUite a number of people on other boards have gone on about how a hostile Deep One is scary in a hostile human wielding a knife sort of way but not something that sends you to the asylum

There was a cartoon somewhere that had two aliens talking about their hats and a human going insane because one alien asked the human about their hat.

Kitsune Game Master

I think there is a lot of humans thinking they are "god like" involved. What would you do if you are trapped in a cave and lava from a volcano eruption flows in?

Spoiler:
You'll burn to nothing in a spontaneous combustion.

But people seldom come to the conclusion. They always imagine some way out of everything. Like here. You have to scroll down until someone states the obvious "I guess I'll die."

Or take native Americans meeting the first settlers. "Hello we are friendly visitors from Europe." *big sneeze* "Sorry about that."

Native American dies from flu.

"I know no reason why an elder god should be scary/dangerous/mind destroying" is no argument against it. It just shows that there are a lot of things we lack the imagination for. The "what I don't know and don't understand doesn't exist" attitude that some people have isn't really helpful in that regards.

I'll wait for you to either do the teleport, or at least finish the conversation with the couple before I answer as Count Caromarc.

HP 77 Ӏ AC 17 (FF 115/T 13) Ӏ CMD 18 Ι F+8, R+8, W+11 Ι Ini +6 Ι Perc +9

Like Climate change?

People cannot see it so they don't think it is really happening

Kitsune Game Master

More like people especially in my country who believe they have the power to prevent the global warming. When nothing short of going back to the stone age will prevent it in our oil based economy.

HP 77 Ӏ AC 17 (FF 115/T 13) Ӏ CMD 18 Ι F+8, R+8, W+11 Ι Ini +6 Ι Perc +9

That is true, we can cut back on it but never get it under control again.

The Prime Minister here in Canada put a carbon tax out and some of the less smart provincial leaders don't think Global warming is really happening.

You're in Germany right?

Kitsune Game Master

Yes. I am. We got a lot of regulations with so far about zero effect on our CO2 output.

Male Human Paladin of Sarenrae Lvl 17 (HP 100/155| AC:31 (33 Undead) (DR 3/-, 5/evil)| T: 17 (31 vs incorp) | FF: 31 (33 undead)| Fort:+22 | Ref:+18 | Will:+20 | Init + 3 | Perc + 16l

Even here in the US, most people understand that Global Warming is happening, they just don't believe it's something that humans are doing. (I've beat my head against that wall too many times to count)

As for your thoughts Stam:
I disagree. There are a number of things that could be done to reverse global warming. Anything from near term tech solutions (Carbon Capture, and plant gene editing to make photosynthesis more efficient) to more far out solutions like launching a solar shield to reduce the sunlight that hits earth or increasing the cloud cover over the oceans.
It's actually not that complex of an issue if we really focused on it.
Solar energy In - Reflection = Earth Heat

Our industral dumping of CO2 into the atmosphere/deforestation is simply changing that reflection number to be smaller.

The issue is simply one of will.
The base problem is: We have too many humans, demanding too much stuff, and an set of economic systems incentivised to provide that ever increasing amount of stuff.

Population limits, consumption limits (including carbon taxes), would be a good start, but so far very few countries have been willing to make the radical changes they need because it will take a huge political cost to implement.

Can you imagine any of the western democracies implementing China's One Child Policy? Or anyone putting in place a a true communist system where everyone country/worldwide gets the same reward no matter what you do? There would be huge revolts by all the haves if you tried to implement that, and most likely that government would fall in an armed revolt.

HP 77 Ӏ AC 17 (FF 115/T 13) Ӏ CMD 18 Ι F+8, R+8, W+11 Ι Ini +6 Ι Perc +9

The idea of blocking the sunlight would be interesting but overall I don't think it would make that much of a difference, we would lose out on solar energy as a whole, which they are putting up loads of solar farms around my area.

The idea that in the last 40 years we have gone from supply and demand to over saturation is what is causing a lot of issues.

I have 4 children of my own, I fully understand that it works in China and why they did it. Yes a true communist system could work but then a True Democracy would work too but the problem is Humans.

Kitsune Game Master

Communism is something that has proven again and again that it doesn't work. Either it is replaced by something else, or the ones in charge suppress all that don't like the system, usually leading to the death of many with human rights going down the drain. There is not a single communist system that would survive a free democratic election.

Probably it will become dealing with the issues once they arise. The earth has been warmer and colder than now. And if there is a species that can adapt then it's humans.

Male Human Paladin of Sarenrae Lvl 17 (HP 100/155| AC:31 (33 Undead) (DR 3/-, 5/evil)| T: 17 (31 vs incorp) | FF: 31 (33 undead)| Fort:+22 | Ref:+18 | Will:+20 | Init + 3 | Perc + 16l

Oh don't take my response above as endorsing communism. I'm well aware of the faults in the system.

The problem is I can't readily recall another mass experiment where there is a true limit on consumption society wide.

Money stands in for this limit in Capitalism, but it's not a society wide limit, just a personal limit on consumption.

Kitsune Game Master

I guess if you really wanted, you could easily create a society that needs much less resources. Make laws that ensure your dishwasher will hold ten years and has to be easily repaired and updated for 30 years. Ban everything that is single use/throw away. Forbid fracking to get more of those CO2 producing energy sources.

Put serious incentives on energy friendly stuff. Like: get your real 2 Liter/100km car for 5000Euro, because you get a lot back through tax refunds. Pay 20.000 Euro buying tax on that SUV monster no one needs.

Just throw out the economy that is based on growing by producing more stuff.

There might be ways. Just none that would allow for those who have money to make more money for free by producing and selling stuff nobody needs.

Male Human Paladin of Sarenrae Lvl 17 (HP 100/155| AC:31 (33 Undead) (DR 3/-, 5/evil)| T: 17 (31 vs incorp) | FF: 31 (33 undead)| Fort:+22 | Ref:+18 | Will:+20 | Init + 3 | Perc + 16l

I understand what you are saying completely.
The problem is where does that line sit on what people need vs want.

That SUV monster, may be needed if you are consistently pulling trailers for work, or need to drive off road in the mountains and need the higher ground clearance.
That's totally different then if I live in a city and use it as a big shopping cart or status symbol.

Stepping farther:
Do you need red meat?
Do you need your own personal car?
Do we have to have air conditioning?
That smart phone, do you really need it?
How about your own personal house for an atomic family? Can extended families share a single house? Can we fit more people in an existing house?
Air travel, is it required and how often?
Do we need to be growing food and shipping it half way across the world, or can we only eat local plants?

All of those things are major contributors to Global warming, and just saying NO isn't practical. There are arguments for needing each of those items. But putting together a system that limits what you specifically need at a national level is HARD.

HP 77 Ӏ AC 17 (FF 115/T 13) Ӏ CMD 18 Ι F+8, R+8, W+11 Ι Ini +6 Ι Perc +9

You will also have a lot of kick back, the average person who is basically brain washed into thinking they NEED these things will fight you tooth and nail.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

As for air conditioning, it can save lives in very hot places and for those who are elderly/disabled and can't get themselves to someplace cool.

As I said there is a argument for each of those things.

I'm well aware of the need for heat and AC... I live in a place where in a normal year it ranges from -22 to 40 C.

40C with 98% humidity is miserable even when you are just sitting still and downright dangerous if you don't have a breeze/fan in the sun.

Hey guys.

So an update to the last three games that still have me.
I'm like 137 posts behind in this thread, can anyone give me the cliff notes on where we're at?

So things in RL right now. My doggie is healthy and like a brand new dog after he had his gall bladder removed, and as of yesterday I am finally moved out of my girlfriends place, it was a very long and emotional few weeks and I only just got my actual work station up today after a week of not being able to work and falling behind on deadlines, I'm still stressed but I think I can get back into at least a post a day.

So what do i need to know and what level should I be?

Kitsune Game Master

You should be level 11.

The world is saved for now from the horrible Shub Niggurath and the next destination of the AP would be Caliphas. Which is also the next book of the AP.

But the group took a detour to Schloss Caromarc to bring the mayor of Ilmarsh's body together with his brain again. As of now we're waiting on Spugnoir to perform this heroic deed.
