*snerk*
I used to have a black cat named Spook. I got him when I was 7 and we had him with us for 15 years. He was a very good kitty.
(And yeah, as an adult I now know that the name can also be used as a racial slur. My 7 year old self was not aware of that at the time that I named him.)
At any rate, now that we're going to have our own home I am SUPER excited about the potential to have pets. I've already been scoping out the closest animal shelter (online) to learn more about them and to have a look at the critters they have.
There's a bonded pair currently there (one black cat, one gray & white, both male, not quite a year old) that look adorable. I already told my husband that if they're still there after Christmas then they might be coming home with me :3
He wasn't particularly impressed.
Also Him: "Hey wait, when did we go from getting 'a' cat to getting 'two' cats??"
(The original idea was that we'd get a cat for me and a dog for him since he's more of a dog person.)
Me: "Well, I mean, we don't *have* to get two but if there's a bonded pair then you can't just split them up...or if we wanted a kitten, getting two would mean they'd be able to keep each other entertained..."
Sopdet-Ka "Stelle" |
"The wall itself seems to rejoice with the success as it thrums and cackles with electricity."
Unlike the place where I work.

1) If you lived in CA/Bay Area (or wanted to make a road trip), I would hook you up with *so* many kitties, kittens, cats, bonded pairs, whatever you wanted. I got me the fluffy ones and the stripey ones and some with long hair and some with short. I think we even a few cats with some nice mustaches. Oh man, I could load you up with kittens.
2) And yes, you’ll want a pair of kittens. If it matters to your hubby to hear it from an animal professional, kittens are better in pairs.

Hah! It'd be nice...but that's okay; there are plenty in my area that need homes. And I'll be sure to mention that to him if he seems resistant to the idea of more than one kitten ;)
Though really, who knows what I'll actually come home with when the time comes. I have my ideas but it'll probably at least partly come down to which one(s) speak to me when I go to have a look. Kittens are fun but adult cats deserve adoption too <3

Happy Halloween! The temperature tanked here today; it was mid 60s when I got home from work this morning and now it's mid 30s and spitting precipitation.
Brr!
Oh and as of 2:30 this afternoon we officially own our own (and first) home. Can't move in just yet as the sellers requested another two weeks to get moved out but still - we own a home :D
Nidhi Aashirya |
Regarding green: If your character is invisible, do they still provoke AoO if they move instead of taking a five foot step? I feel like the large creature has to have a 10 foot reach... I'm afraid Nidhi might provoke in both instances: taking a five foot step then shooting arrows or moving further then shooting. She's currently singing
Omg, can they technically land on Nidhi since she's invisible?! Nidhi pancake. That's a crazy thought
GM Euan |
If you're invisible, and they cannot see you, you do not provoke AoOs, but you could be stepped on.

Toilday, Arodus 19, 4714
- Early the next day, the party enters the Sekrephrenet: The Monument Vault. They are greeted, briefly, by a towering earth elemental.
- Proceeding onward, the not-so-cowardly lion, leaps into the air, and into a trap! Moving past that, Bynx is needed to overcome the next trap.
- The party finds an hanshepsu, who they discover will obey Nidhi’s commands as a soldier might. Powerful stuff!
- After picking up a little loot behind a hidden panel, the group searches a room full of canopic jars, moderately necromantic canopic jars.
- The party moves on quickly, avoiding the jars, only to find a large room with more jars! However this room reacts weirdly to light.
- Searching but finding nothing to indicate the light and fear, they move on to a room with Kalnaka. After a mighty battle, the party emerges.
- A mouth in the wall reveals a number of magics, including a strange wand of lightning. Kosei further speaks with the wall, learning more secrets.
- The party returns to the Tekramenet, or Lantern Vault, giving Nidhi the honor of placing the Life Lantern into the slot.
- The great receptacle is powered as elemental forces rip though the entire Slave Trenches… where it will remain for a week.
- Leaving the hanshepsu warrior in his pit, the party heads back to the ship to retire for the night.
Wealday, Arodus 20, 4714
- In the morning, the party heads to the Akhumemnet, or the Guardian Vault. They are immediately attacked by the monster that is Sensuret!
- Sensuret, a spinosauraus, falls to the parties might, as Tef Naju looks on from above, eating grapes.
- Entering the vault, the party finds a statue commanding them not to breath without permission. Gas, an acidic gas, greets them in the tunnel.
- Preparing themselves, much of the party enters the tunnel, only to find a dispelling trap lies within! Desna blesses the maker as Zilchus is hit.
- Using a recently found stone skin wand, Florence protects Zilchus as the group heads ever deeper.
- A sloped tunnel lies ahead, though the party discovers it is in fact a telekinetic enucleation trap. Closing their eyes and more protects them.
- The party enters a small chamber, leading off to many more, but dominated by the statues of the six great Akhumen generals, pointing at them.
- Resisting… something, the party begins to examine the various doors and hallways leading off this chamber.
- NE, the party finds the resting place of Jeshura, the Plague Queen of Kho. Or rather her living tomb, for she is still alive, entombed here.
- SE, they find a prison cell, with magics all about preventing dimensional travel, along with a dead traveller, with an extra dimensional cape.
- S is skipped as the party heads SW, to find a collapsed hanshepsu, sprawled out reaching for a niche in an otherwise strange room.
- NW, the party finds, doors. Lots and lots of well sealed, well ensorcelled doors.
- The chamber, or chambers beyond, are further protected from Kosei’s earth elemental form so the party turns south once again.
- After two pairs of double doors, the party finally faces a pair of ghuls, which they beat, though there was the temporary loss of one greatsword.
- The next doors require one sole beetle among thousands, perhaps tens of thousands, of illusory ones. Enter Bynx.
- They next face off with Agazuberi, the guardian of the key, and two ghuls, acting as sidekicks.
- Nidhi’s powerful Remorse works, and Agazuberi actively harms herself while her ghuls are cut down and Stelle chips away at her.
- In the end, Agazuberi commits seppuku as the party finishes off the ghuls, and they return to the Monument Vault.
- They try a few things and decide it must be the wrong time of day and retreat for rest to come at it fresh in the morning.
Oathday, Arodus 21, 4714
- The party enters the Monument Vault and faces the wall once again.
- Stelle suggests electricity and Florence pulls out the wand, sending lighting against the wall - powering the Sekrepheres!
- The ’Trenches are blazing with power, and the elementals that comprise them are shuddering with it. The party heads to the Sun Disk.
- Placing the Pharaoh’s Key, the party activates the Khepsutanem for the first time in many, many centuries.
- The former slaves pour forth from the trenches and assail the party before the pyramid of Hakotep I eventually lands a short distance away.
- The party zig zags within Kosei’s wall of fire as they destroy hundreds, if not thousands, of skeletons
- With the help of Zilchus' chaosodiles the party destroys more than a half dozen ossumentals.
- It doesn’t take long however, for Hakotep’s pyramid to be magically ripped from the sky, like lightning.
- The immense structure settles into the sand and awaits the party…

Level 8th spells!!! :O
So much unknown power to explore, never experienced before! Shall Kosei spawn earthquakes and cyclones around? Or shall he polymorph the whole party into a lion or crocodile pack? Or perhaps better a koala cute tribe?

Ooooo, level 15! I have several little typos and things that are long overdue on Nidhi's page. I've been playing Rise of the Runelords (Paladin) in person and it's helped me understand the game better. I like playing Paladins a lot. Not too complicated, but the only melee class I seem to like
Are people going to think Nidhi is evil if she casts Finger of Death? Like, does casting the spell look evil in nature? Black rays of death with a tortured souls vibe

You ask that like we already don’t think you’re evil....::ducks::
Anyhoot, FoDeath is fine, but within this pyramid might not have enough targets, you know? Everything is likely to be already dead, or construct or whatever...so just be mindful of that.
I will try to get Zilchus updated today, but today is super busy, so probably on the morrow night.
Kosei Sharif-El-Sadad |
I also think like Zilchus that most stuff we find in the pyramid will not depend on life to move and hit us hard.
@GMEuan, the new spell slots and daily abilities we gain this level, are they ready available or shall we have a rest?
GM Euan |
You get everything from your new level right away, as if you had rested. However, the spells and abilities used in the last fight do not come back as you have not, in fact, rested.
Clear as mud?

Ah yeah. Flo goes to Seattle. Zilchus and his not so great smile will be there to greet you. I suppose you’ll have other players from other games there to meet IRL as well.
Florence Corvina |
Heh! Yeah, Christmas and this year were generous to us, even with accounting for buying a house. And apparently PaizoCon is a pretty cool and chill con to go to and if accounts are to be believed there's several people from the forums that want to meet me? (Weirdos.) So I decided to take the plunge :)
Hopefully I'll be able to be a person and make fun, sensible conversation rather than flail my arms awkwardly and/or hide behind the nearest tall person.
(Not only am I introverted, I'm also rather shy. Fantastic combo, that.)
That said yes, I'd love to meet you and anyone else here that will be going! I do have one group here on the forums that has talked about trying to do either a live game of something or at least a meal together since all/most of us are planning to attend. Other than that, I have absolutely NO idea what I'll be doing. How do these meet-ups for stuff work? Do you coordinate ahead of time or do you just strike up conversations with whoever walks by and count yourself pleasantly surprised if they happen to be from the forums? Should I scribble 'Lady Ladile' on my badge once I pick it up? So many questions!

Wow, yes, these are a lot of questions.
I am tall, and introverted as well, so yes, I know how hard and overwhelming these things can be. But I have been going for a while and know how and when to go hide and recover my precious intro-energies. It's important to just hide every once in a while AND to plan a few open open slots so you can relax, slow down, and enjoy.
For meet ups, yes you can put things on your nametag (there is a customization feature as well within the Paizo tix where you can set it), but people mostly just set time and spaces to meet.
For me, you can ask around and someone will eventually be able to point me out to you...especially once you find someone like GM Hmm. But also, if you want me to walk around and introduce you to people, I'm happy to meet you and guide you around until you can get your feet. (I'm also somewhat tall so excellent for hiding behind.) Whatever works.

Have a nice entry on 2020 you all! :)
That PaizoCon seems something fun. What a pity it is so difficult to reach from Europe.
I probably am an extrovert because I have little problem getting into conversations uninvited (you see here) and generally get energy when in group and get deprived of it if I have to center all my attention in a single person. Well, at least during events it seems I am the kind that seems to know most people but then it is weird because I become evasive when someone looks for a deeper connection.
Florence Corvina |

Yep. I've actually already had another friend caution me to avoid filling my schedule to the brim, so I'll probably try to make sure that I leave a free block of time somewhere in each day.

Thank you very much for the offer. Hmm is actually one of the folks I might be gaming/fooding with so I'm sure she'd be happy to introduce me to/point out some of the other folks from the forums. I'm also not quite sure yet if anyone from my lodge will be going this year; my VA and her SO went last year and met a bunch of folks so if they go again this year I'll probably ask them to show me around a bit too if they have the time. Hopefully I can swing getting in on Wednesday so I'll have a little extra time to get settled in and scope out the lay of the land before pre-con stuff starts happening on Thursday.
Once it gets closer to the con or just right before, I might offer out my cell # to select people to help facilitate meeting up as well.

Happy Valentine's Day, friends! In honor of the occasion (and because I have it on good authority that I am a huge goober), here are some (internet-sourced) poems for you:
Roses are red,
Bacon is red,
Poems are hard,
Bacon.
Bacon sounds fantastic at nearly 1 in the morning. Yum.
Violets are blue,
Roses are red,
Hey hey hey,
Stay out of my shed.
Or else. *revs up the chainsaw*
Love is in the air
But so is influenza
Wash your filthy hands.
No, seriously, wash your hands. This is one time that sharing really isn't caring.

Great life to red beacon with roses poems! :D
It was a weird day for me. We went to a Sirian restaurant we had been during our first S. Vale's day but kitchen was closed because some problem we could not understand. We ended up in a pintxos restaurant. I am still suspicious by the fact my wife accepted a night at a loud place were I could drink beer and ate pork.
GM Euan |
Thanks for those Florence - very funny! And pintxos looks quite decadent Kosei! That looks really tasty!
Well gang, I believe Nidhi may have left us. She’s been gone more than two weeks now, and didn’t reply to my last ping in chat. I see from her other aliases that she’s left her other campaigns. Hasn’t posted anywhere in a while near as I can tell.
After this fight, I’m going to have Nidhi drop back and stay on the boat I think. I do not plan to replace her in the game as we’re so close to the end. We’ll just continue on.
If any of you can think of ways to get past traps and secret doors, I’m all ears. Someone else should also claim the mask, at least to carry if not wear. Let me know your thoughts.
Florence Corvina |
Yeah, when I PMed her right around Christmas she indicated that she'd really been getting into F2F Pathfinder so I expect that's partly why we've not heard from her. It wouldn't be the first time I've seen folks fall in and then out of love with PbP-style gaming.
Regarding getting past traps and stuff, uh...I'm not sure. If we level up again before the finale Florence could pick up Find Traps as a 2nd level witch spell but that'd be about all she could do to help.
Regarding carrying the mask, I don't have any particularly strong feelings on the matter. If we don't want someone on the front lines to carry/wear it then that'd leave Kosei or Florence as ringmask-bearers.
GM Euan |
Yeah, the real issue isn't finding them - Stelle and Zilchus do that handily enough - it's disarming them. Maybe it won't be so big a deal, but I feel like it's something you'd have found a solution for as a group if you knew it was coming.
You will be training one more time. :)
Kosei Sharif-El-Sadad |
It is tough to lose Nidhi.
There are a lot of traps in this one. Still I hope we can manage through use of magic and wits. At least many of the traps we have faced this far had a way to skip them. The dispel magic can disband a magical trap for a few rounds too.
