The mechanus is also unsuccessful with its attack however, the turret lets loose a crossbow bolt that hits the creeper and it keels over.

Johnathan picks up a small stone, squeezing it until it glows brightly, then slowly levitates it above his palm to illuminate the area around him. He searches the shadows and nooks of the area, crossbow and spells ready.

"Everyone okay? Yes let's get the doc and those papers back to the RHC before this shadowman can regroup for another ambush."

You make your way to the front of the rock-cut church. As you do you catch sight of the exit: barred by massive bars of steel slammed into the rock. Through it you see a few men talking and you duck behind a bar and watch.
The shadow man is talking to a short well-dressed man wearing a purple cape and with bushy chestnut brown hair. Behind them are three horseless black carriages, and a woman (Johnathan its Liria, your mentor) is tied up and gagged in one of them, as a dozen creepers and dark stalkers as well as knife fighters lounge and make jokes.
The shadow man is searching his pockets and swearing, dripping black blood from his many wounds.. A metal folding chair flies out of the carriage, extracts itself open in mid air, then lands gracefully next to the caped man, closely followed by a small metal case. The caped man sits down with an annoyed air, opens the case, removes something (some sort of cheese could it be?) and a bottle of wine, and sits down for a picnic with a metal plate hovering a platter of the cheese and cut slices.
You sneak forward and catch a few words of the conversation between the two men, the shadow man having now transformed into the description of Officer Porter.
- 'Are you sure?'
(BGK) - 'Oh yes. According to Kell, there’s only one way in or out of the church, and that the air vents are too small to climb out through.
Porter - 'Hmm. I could starve them out.
(BGK) - Watch out. There is a team of RHC officers in there, and they have been a thorn in our side since the robbery. I would deal with them sooner rather than later if I were you.
He then takes a long sniff of the wine then lets out a sigh
- (after a long time) 'I suppose I could parlay. Go tell your boss that the situation is under control.'
Porter gets into one of the carriages and The caped man waves two of the carriages away (but not the one containing Liria) and orders his men to watch the barred entrance.

Johnathan walks over to the bars and sees that there is no mechanism or anything like that and they weren't there when you first arrived either.

"Porter! Did we get played all along? Or did something happened to our friend?" asks Falko, moving back and forth within the shadows. "And who's this man? He seems to control the very air! I don't like our odds gentlemen..."

He turns his attention away from the bars and looks inside the church. Like rats...
"Up or down gentlemen! Let's check this chimney and see if we can find a way to the sewers. Don't churches have crypts? Let try to find one!"
He'll start by taking a look at the chimney.

Then organizes a thorough search of the church for a hidden passage or compartment where they could hide.

I hope you don't think that Officer Porter is the former pc, who played with us for a couple months.
You hear a shout from the front of the cave - it's the caped man, his voice bright and friendly, a warm and velvety educated accent.
'Hello! Officers! Anyone there? I can help you get out without further bloodshed. The man who tried to assassinate you is gone now, and I mean you no harm. I am a friend of a friend. Approach the entrance please so we can discuss how to get you brave officers home in one piece!'
